Besides, the damage control battle, to try and make things look like the linking screw up never happened, has pretty much clearly already failed based on the responses afterwards by others.

I'd like to know why ram has been looking at Boeing schematics, hazardous materials and plane parts? That doesn't look good, I hope the NSA is keeping an eye on his browsing habits.
