I am with you for the most part, heck I rarely even watch the intro to the game once. That said it takes time to do this stuff. If you are going to take that time to do something, make it worth that time.
What I would prefer is to utilize pre game/halftime for something that you actually do, instead of watch. People want realism, this seems a more sensible route since you are "taking part the game" not watching it. There are no highlight shows in an NFL locker room at halftime. Adjustments are being made, injuries tended to, playbooks are tweaked. Add something where you have all the stats/tendencies of the opponent, along with the conservative/aggressive coaching adjustments on the same screen. Make changes and your playbook gets prioritized based on the adjustments made. Do nothing and you have your base playbook. If anything it adds another layer of strategy and since you are calling the plays it gives you something closer to what an NFL Coach would have at their disposal.
Or have nothing. Anything would be better than what I just watched.
