With Pato suspended, Wolves took on Middlesbrough at Molinuex Stadium in an FA Cup Replay. Jack Sampson, who often plays in Pato's shadow, would need to step up with the club's dominant striker ot of the lineup.
Sampson opened the scoring by redirecting a ground cross, courtesy of Leigh Griffiths, at 62'. In the 85th minute, a minute after Middlesbrough equalized from a penalty, Sampson struck again. It was a ground cross from Griffiths once more that Sampson hit with a sliding strike to provide the difference, 2-1.

Luis Pedro Cavanda's 45th minute sending off left Dominic Kinnear's side down a man for the entire second half and, despite a valiant effort, poor finishing finished Wolverhampton, 2-0.

Ahead of the closing of the January window, Wolves earned a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Elkeson provided the difference in the 35th minute when he powered a rebound into the Forest net. David De Gea made 8 saves in keeping the clean sheet.
The story of the clash was Gary Loft who made his Wolves debut. Loft won 7 tackles and was credited with ten interceptions in earning Man of the Match honors. His sliding challenge in the area thwarted Forest's last gasp in stoppage time.
The victory came at a cost, however. Alexandre Pato exited the match in the 14th minute with a sprained knee. Pato could miss a month, according to boss Dominic Kinnear.
Following the match Kinnear announced that Wolves had finalized a contract with CM Ravel Morrison, completing his $10.5M transfer from West Ham. Morrison, 23, will likely plug into the right wing. The England national (79 OVR) will earn $50k per week on a 4-year contract.
