I have made a few of these custom covers going back to '10 and I am using photoshop elements 7 (i know i should upgrade but i need money). My question is how do you change the color of the background mask? i'm a little stuck and do not know what to do.

I dont know about that version of PS, but in CS5 you right click on the layer,a menu should pop up, select "Blending Option", go down to color overlay. But thats just CS5. I suspect it would be the same though.

sadly no there are no "blending options" when i right click the layer :(
