They launched it for Europe and within a few hours had to revert to the old store because everything was broken and nothing would load. You have to give it to Sony, if there's a way to mess something up, they often find the way and execute it flawlessly.

The date shown at the end of the ad is October 23, 2012, which is the date the new PlayStation Store design is set to go live in North America.
I'm betting it's another ad campaign like the one where all of the game characters were together. That actually looks a bit like the lobby.
And yes, actually it's the same woman... 27 seconds in.

On the surface, the store update looks nice.
Firmware update 4.30 set to go tonight. It'll be an update that really only pertains to Beatn and myself I guess :D
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/...th-playstation
A new firmware update is incoming for PlayStation 3. The update, outlined by Sony, affects two things: Trophies and Life With PlayStation.
For starters, firmware update 4.30 will change how Trophies are viewed on PlayStation 3. The Trophy list will be moved on the CrossMediaBar (XMB) from the Games list to the PlayStation Network list. And most interestingly, Trophies earned on PlayStation Vita will finally be viewable on PlayStation 3. As it stands right now, you can see PS3 and Vita Trophies on Vita, but only PS3 Trophies on PS3, even if you’re using the same username across both machines.

Additionally, update 4.30 will usher in the final weeks of the Life With PlayStation application and its primary purpose -- the Folding@home service -- a collaboration between Sony and Stanford University. Folding@home was a way for idle PS3 users to lend “computation hours” to the university as it researched ailments such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. According to Sony, over 15 million gamers lent over 100 million “computation hours” to Stanford University’s research.
Update 4.30 will go live on Tuesday, October 23rd. Life With PlayStation, as well as Folding@home, will end completely in November.

Saw an article on CNet saying Life / Folding@home was coming to a close. Not really sure why trophies "needed" to be moved but whatever.
Why are they getting rid of Folding?
Sweet. I knew about Folding@Home, but I hadn't heard about SETI@home before. Looked it up earlier, downloaded and installed, and while I am using my PC right now (using it minimally as I'm playing FIFA Soccer on my 360 currently, have SETI@home running right now. Thanks for mentioning that. I'll have to look through all of the projects they have listed in the BOINC Manager, see if there's anything else of interest I might consider adding to the workload with SETI.
Glad to hear it, Smooth.
Yep. I went through the list in BOINC Manager, I currently have SETI@home and Orbit@home (near earth asteroid stuff) sharing resources on my PC. I for the most part have my PC on and running 24/7, with the exception of a couple times a week I put it in hibernate mode while I'm out of town, so yeah, this will at least let me put my PC to good use instead of it just sitting there running unused.
Well the 1TB HDD is not working out for me. System errored out again when trying to install the update. Hopefully Newegg gives me a refund. I was able to use my old HDD to get out of the install loop, and was able to boot onto the TB HDD and do a backup. When I get home from work tonight I'll restore the system onto my old 320GB HDD.
Oh man boo on that big time!! Good luck!
