Game played, ready to advance.
Syracuse holds on for the victory against the visiting San Diego State Aztecs with a late TD setting the final score of 28-18. Offensively, it was a one man show for the Orange as HB Princetyson Gulley carried the ball 32 times for 210 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Gulley also added 5 receptions for 83 yards and another score. Defensively the Orange were solid but nothing to brag about as they allowed 369 total offensive yards for the Aztecs, with 250 of that coming through the air. The bright spot for the defense was DT Jay Bromley who recorded 11 total tackles with 5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks.
"We gave up the big play today... that's the only excuse for us on defense. We had them stopped and had them in a position we wanted them only for us to get beat deep or miss a tackle at the line allowing a runningback to break free. We've made some adjustments to our lineup, particularly our secondary which should help us prevent more of that in the future. We'll be fine... this was our first game of the season and we have to fix some of the bad habits that the old coaching staff taught these guys. We've got a rough slate ahead so we'll have to grow up fast, but I know this team can get it done."
Syracuse starts conference play next week as they travel to Maryland for their first ACC game in the history of the program. After that, their season doesn't get any easier as they are either on the road or facing a Top 25 opponent every week.
Sorry we didn't get to play Sin... hope everything works out for you on your end.
Sinister - I booted you so G could play the CPU and just sent you an invite back in. Can you log on tonight and accept it? I plan on advancing in the morning, but would like you to be back as SDSU coach so the CPU doesn't screw up your recruiting board too badly in the week advance.
We have advanced to Week 3. Only one user game.
i accept after work today
FYI - If I don't have a chance to play tonight, I won't be able to play until Sunday afternoon.
hey i accepted invite and i only gave me one star teams to pick from
so i accepted Eastern Michigan again?
I removed you again and set starting pt as 2-star schools so SDSU should now be an option. I am worried it won't take effect until we advance to the next week, however. Let me know if it works.
ok i'll try it when i get home, i send you a message on psn if it doesn't
Cdj just keep me out im gonna play in another dynasty no hard feelings
HANDSWARD, clw, and bjrod remain.
I had forgotten this is a holiday weekend, so I'll wait and advance it until late tonight.
Sorry for the delay guys I was out of town this weekend for a wedding. I played my game this morning and defeated :Texas: 24-17.
Have we advanced?
We have advanced.
We'll advance again on Saturday night.
Syracuse Defeats #11 UNC 28-0
Fans of defense got their money's worth this week as The Orange put on a defensive show, shutting out the #11 ranked Tarheels and only allowing 230 total offensive yards. In addition, the collegiate version of the Orange Crush defense managed to force 4 turnovers, 2 of which were returned for touchdown. Offensively, The Orange were stale in the first half being shut out as well, however in the second half, they managed to add two touchdowns of their own.
"I think today showed how important a solid defense is. Our offense of old reared it's ugly head but our new look defense, courtesy coach Boudreaux, managed to keep us in the game and for all intents and purposes, won the game for us today. If you had told me last year that we'd be playing the #11 team in the country, give up two turnovers, and still win by four touchdowns, I'd have laughed at you. But this year our defense helps us to make that happen."
With the win, Syracuse moves to 3-0 (2-0) on the early season and next will travel to face Virginia.
What's the best way to contact Esco, tried the scheduling thread and private message.
I pm'd you back with my number. Text me because I have a show on Monday, so I have practice everynight til Sunday
Memphis sucked it up losing 29-19. Andy threw 3 ints, no tds!! Two of the picks were bad throws by Andy, the third was on me hitting the wrong dang button when I was down by 3 freaking points driving!! Rhodes had a terrific day on the ground, but everytime he broke a run he was ran down from behind by the MTSU safety who has BLAZING speed compared to my guys. The line left Andy out to dry as he was hit early and often in this game.
