Sweet... Completely underrated band. I remember when they 1st came out and J. Loren did an interview and said he was brought up on gospel and folk music and the first rock song he every heard was Pearl Jam when he was in his early teens and every since then he's been a rocker.

This was an AWESOME show. They opened the set playing the ENTIRE debut album of theirs from 1998 (I think)...the one before Rated R. There were a few songs I wish they would have played, but overall the show was amazing.

Next up is Rise Against / Bad Religion in May, then Dropkick Murphys in July.
Today marks the day that we lost Kurt Cobain (1994) and Layne Staley (2002). When Staley died, I created a compilation of my favorite songs....
Spoiler: show
Way better than the original.... the end is pretty good.

I still like the Bob Dylan version of it... it actually sounds decent if you can get past the lyrics.

Yeah but he doesn't have the Knick City Dancers  It is decent though.
Actually the article that I read are predicting it to be the most covered song ever next to the Beatles "Yesterday"
Esquire posted their Best New Songs of 2011 list. Most of it's not my personal preference when it comes to music, but this one immediately caught my ear.

Quote:
Now, after a computer analysis of three decades of hit songs, Dr. DeWall and other psychologists report finding what they were looking for: a statistically significant trend toward narcissism and hostility in popular music. As they hypothesized, the words “I” and “me” appear more frequently along with anger-related words, while there’s been a corresponding decline in “we” and “us” and the expression of positive emotions.
“Late adolescents and college students love themselves more today than ever before,” Dr. DeWall, a psychologist at the University of Kentucky, says. His study covered song lyrics from 1980 to 2007 and controlled for genre to prevent the results from being skewed by the growing popularity of, say, rap and hip-hop.
I hate that study. It really angers me.
Is it that bad that I love me some me?
so is we- and us- a positive if we- and us- are all angry at the same time ????
That's really a giant waste of grant money for such a meaningless study.
Look around, of course we are all about us; we're the United States of America where we think we're the best damn place on this planet and everyone else can suck it.
Pretty obvious if you ask me.
I don't know why but I like this band. Wondered who it was after the Heineken commercial....got the album, and it's pretty good.

The album is kinda like Smash Mouth and Squirrel Nut Zippers on LSD with a female lead singer
Except that it hasn't been true for that long. There have been a lot of studies that have shown the current generation of college students (and the entry level generation in the work force) are the most self-centered we've ever been. This is just another angle at it. Normally, I'd agree with you about wasting money on fruitless studies, but I thought that was pretty interesting.
And there are much, much more meaningless studies out there.
the slow original version-

Yeah I busted out the Shazam program on my Droid one night...the whole album is pretty decent. Came out two years ago.
I can't wait, one show this week, one show next week...this Thursday is Taproot!

And I think that's pretty obvious as well. When you grow up being told you're special, you can do anything, blah blah blah along with never failing at anything in school because of the never left behind program shit, it's hard not to be completely self-centered.
Adding one more to the run on Scala & Kolacny Brothers
