"Believe it when we see it." :P
Nah, I'm optimistic they'll get it ironed out sooner than later. Their servers probably got crushed yesterday.

Finally got this baby in hand. Took a day longer than it should have (so much for release day shipping :fp:), but at least UPS somewhat made up for it by putting my package on the early route and dropped it off about 15 minutes ago, instead of sticking it on the late route and not showing up until after 4:30.
Edit - Got the Michael Jordan cover. Which is fine with me. Didn't really have a preference one way or the other.
Damn. Just had a hell of a Rookie Showcase game to kick off My Player. Playing on the Elites, we beat the Stars 76-73. We were tied at 73-all with 57 seconds left to play in the game. I got the pass as I drove to the basket and got fouled on the shot. Missed the first free throw, made the second to give us a 1 point lead with 49 seconds to play.
After trading a pair of missed shots (including my dumbass CPU teammate throwing up a bad 3-point attempt with 15 seconds left to play), the Stars got the ball and drove down. They took a shot, missed and I came down with the rebound, getting fouled with 2 seconds left on the clock. Went to the line, sank both free throws, they missed their full court Hail Mary attempt, and we won 76-73, thanks to my going 3 for 4 from the free throw line, the only points in the entire last minute of the game, and getting the rebound with 2 seconds left
Followed that up with pre-draft interviews with the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, and Indiana Pacers. Ultimately, got drafted in the first round, 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns. Based on the pay scale for my draft slot, I got a 2 year, $1.65 million contract with a team option. Now to bide my time on the bench behind Steve Nash while slowly improving.
Just FYI if you pre-ordered it from Amazon they will send you an e-mail that has a download for all three covers.
So the greatest mystery is how often the automatic advance is on slow for Online Assocation. Pasta posted that on fast, it advances 3 NBA Days every 6 hours (JESUS) .... and normal is 3 NBA days every 24 hours. If slow is 3 NBA Days every 3 realtime days, I'd be happy with that.
I had a pretty good Rookie Showcase, but ended up losing b/c I was taken out of the game w/ 3 mins to go and didn't see the floor again. But while on the floor I had 15 pts, 2 reb, 6assists at the 2 spot. I would've had more points, but my PG(Kemba Walker's doppleganger) didn't see a shot he didn't like. During my pre-draft interviews, I met with the Sixers, Rockets, and Wizards. The Rockets chose me 14th overall. I haven't played a game yet, but I do like the newish drills and was able to get gold in all 3 drills
From Pasta:
Online Association, the aspect of NBA 2K12 that was most intriguing to me, looks like it will be a failure to many. The way the mode is structured will appeal to people who like all, or at least most, of their games simmed. Those who want to actually play the games will have a hard time sticking to the rigid schedule.
There are three periods to choose from for advancement. Slow, Normal, and Fast. 2K12 doesn't actually even explain what those mean when preparing the Association which will be troublesome in itself - but I've set up one with each to figure it out.
Slow (24 hours), Normal (16 hours), Fast (6 hours) - Associations advance to the next block of games at that rate reportedly simming any games that are not completed. There is no way to manually delay advancement.
An example of what that means: 82 game season on Slow - there will be around 7 games to play or sim in each 24 hour period. You can't take a day off and good luck playing all of them each day if that is what you're hoping to accomplish.
So this is a bummer and solely the fault of a poor design decision. Of course the servers would have to be working anyway for the mode to matter and at this point who knows when/if that'll happen. If one can even access a current Online Association head-to-head games have been broken all along and random disconnects from the server threaten progress being made.
2K Always makes an effort where EA lacks..in such things as a sports history and a few of the details like uniforms...Madden doesnt bother putting in historic uniforms and just leaving them in, like the Eagles 70s and 80s uniforms and heck,..for that matter, Ive been waiting for years to see the eagles white helmet uni's.
this game has almost too much in it LOL..but I do find it annoying that i have to look in menues to modify the visuals for the play art and stuff..and traing camp should have the ability to just move on and learn the next thing,..dont hold me hostage having to get 5000 points trying to move on and making those 5000 hard to get in some cases..took me forever with that triple threat jab step crap LOL... but they have finally for the last 3 years made B Ball believable in a video game.. EA in the old ps2 days ..you couldnt really drive around people etc.
I agree with your Ram, consider us both shocked. Tons of old school unis to play with. The commentary in this game is simply amazing. I was playing with one of the unlocked teams from Amazon, the 90's Warriors and they went into detail on Tim Hardaway's son and how he was playing college basketball, his size compared to Tim and their play-styles. All this for a guy not even in the league anymore. Then when playing one of the Legends games they went into long detail on the Hawks history, who they used to be and when they started playing in Atlanta.
Also the broadcast look of the 50's, 60's, 70's an 80's games are all unique and very nicely captures for it's time. Everything from the scoreboards, to the opening where it shows the starters. It makes Maddens AFL attempt from a few year back simply look foolish.
Playing with Maurice Cheeks (played at a local school), Dr. J and Moses on the old Spectrum (when they used a spectrum at midcourt) from the 70's just brought me back to my youth and when I really loved the NBA.
That is a bummer. Everything else I've heard about the game is impressive, but the OA advance settings are head-scratching. I guess it's designed for people to play if they are home all day; not for people with school, family or jobs. Hopefully they can patch in some realistic advance settings.
Yeah, I have absolutely no clue how they came up with 6-12-24. Who the hell has enough time each day to play where it advances every 6 hours? Besides college students and people either who sit at home all day and don't have a job, or people who who work from home. Anyone and everyone else, 6 hours will the absolute least used of those options.
Personally, they should have timed it 12 hours (fast)-24 hours (normal)-48 hours (slow). 6-12-24 is just stupid.
well, i just finished and unlocked all the practice drills..interesting but a few times the commands dont translate like they say and your doing something 20 times to figure it out.....and who the heck is getting the timing on how Magic Johnson shoots a set shot jumper LOL..still cant unlock any clasic teams.....you can re color the all the shoes and put them on whomever you want..anyone got some different codes yet to use for what ever? football will always come first but this cool to mess with, i never got to see last year...they should have had the Lakers from 86...is there any difference between my player and the mode where you pick an actual player ? I cant see plays in the classic games no matter what ive done with menue/options so far ?? help ?
i guarantee you, Keith Erickson was not that athletic...at least i'm pretty sure LOL
i suck at this game but its very nice and the player attributes and caricatures are believable for the most part...it gets pretty close to a cartoonish videogame definition of the word-virtual...stil not sure how to do a hook shot but i learned-triangle- to post up LOL..i turned it off to cool down, but im turning on my ps3 again in less than a hour to mess with it some more..my ncaa dyn. can wait a couple days
It took until our fourth game of the season, but we have finally given the fans in Phoenix their first win of the season, an 87-79 victory on the road at Memphis. And, after scoring exactly 8 points each of the first three games, I finally managed to hit double digits, hitting 10 points for the game with under 2 minutes to play, to go along with my season high 2 rebounds.
Gotta work on my shooting though. I went 5-17 in field goals, 0-5 from beyond the 3-point line. If I want to earn more minutes on the court, I'm going to have to start sinking some of those shots. And I still need to find a good signature free throw. I had a good one in 2K11 that I was able to get the timing down perfectly on when to move the R-stick up to release the ball, but I can't find one yet this year that I'm comfortable with. I'm not doing too bad, currently 4-6 at the free throw line through four games, but it's been more luck of the ball bouncing or rolling in, than it has been of me making good shots. I just wish they would give you an option to work specifically on your free throw shooting in the My Player menus.
Edit - I think I might have found my signature free throw, ironically titled 'Smooth'. :D Just shot 10 free throws in the practice mode from the main menu and went 8 for 10, with 8 of them being perfectly timed releases.
Nice. While we got our asses whooped by my old team (scoring 11 points, I was the third highest scorer for our team :fp:), the Minnesota Timberwolves (my My Player got drafted by the Timberwolves in NBA 2K11), I had my best game of my career so far, scoring 11 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 13 minutes on the court. For what was going to be my last game for this morning, that's a nice way to end it.
With not much time the past couple of days, all I have had time for is Training Camp. Man there are a lot of things you can do with the ball.
I haven't gotten into the game as much as I would've thought, but I've been trying to get through training camp to nail down everything, even though I've been playing yearly since '06.
I've dabbled in My Player and this may be the year that I commit some major time into this mode. Played my 1st game with the Rockets and although they have some good depth at the 2 & 3, I was still able to log 17 minutes in a blowout W. I finished the game with only 7 pts and 1 assist, but I did get a highlight And 1 dunk on Raja Bell. On a fast break, I got the outlet and just tried to get to the line and all of a sudden my player just took off for a monster 2 handed dunk.
By the way, all sports games need to take notes when it comes to commentary. 2k12 by far has the best commentary I have ever heard. After a Terrence Williams jumper, they started talking about his potenial and once the action lulled they went back to talking about his scoring ability and his ups and downs with the Nets.
Yeah I played a full season of My Player last year. Then got pissed when you can choose any team after year one. Hope they fixed that. Other than that, I absolutely love that mode.
LOL at you people referring to your my-player in the first person.
finally logged online but their site still isnt up and I linked it to my youtube account but I dont know what that does or how i'm supposed to get it to connect or work ? the kids seem to be upset over lack of a crew now
I would liken that to "my dog" its "my-player", it isnt me. its an image I manipulate with a controller...but enough psych banter LOL
the game is interesting in its newness to me.. too bad their site and online suck right now, I want to see all this junk.
i still havent unlocked any teams and thats disappointing. but its fun for now
if this was already posted here, somewhere, ...sorry for repeat. But if not, when you have time, listen to parts of this conversation with a/ the developer of this game...its very good as far as I can tell

I just played the game in 3D. It's kinda neat but my eyes are shot now.
Well, had my best game yet. In an 81-75 win over the Pacers, my player ended with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and one block (all career highs). I did, however, commit my very first turnover of my player's career. Not bad, not committing a single turnover until the 4th quarter of the 6th game of the season, but definitely liked having that 0 on my stats for turnovers.
Started My Player last night. I really liked the whole opening of this with the interviews with team GM's and such. In the rookies game, I ended up with 12 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals for a B+ rating. I wasn't a lottery pick, barely, Houston drafted me with the 16th pick.
Yeah, I loved those interviews. Not only gave me an idea of exactly what teams were interested in me and gave me a good idea of where I would end up, but it also gave me some insight into what the teams wanted to do. Phoenix was the best case scenario as they wanted to groom me as Steve Nash's replacement when he retires. The Houston Rockets would have been my second preferred choice, as while they are rebuilding, their GM said they would rebuild and build up the team around me as the centerpiece of their team.
The Pacers were the team I wanted to avoid. Not only were they in long term rebuilding mode, but their GM was talking about how they since they're a small market team and not as flashy or key destination as teams like New York, LA, Miami, etc, that they gear their franchise towards players that will spend their entire career with Indiana and wanted me to give them a commitment of spending my whole career with them if they were to draft me.
While I can certainly leave anytime I wanted, either by requesting a trade or by signing somewhere else after the completion of any current or future contracts, I just didn't really feel like getting myself into that situation, with the state of the team, and the hits I'd take to my chemistry ratings.
As for my player, getting better with each game. Just set a new career high for points with 19 points in a 100-90 win against the Bucks and was the Player of the Game. My player and Vince Carter finished tied on top in leading the team in scoring with 19 each. Also ended the game with 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 block. I was really hoping that I'd get to 20 points, and was at 19 at the end of the 3rd quarter, but that apparently was enough for me, as the Suns kept my player on the bench for the entire 4th quarter.
Doh never mind. The Sixers drafted me :D man my memory is shot today.
I could have sworn that Phoenix at 13 or Houston at 14 were going to take me.
Those were the three teams that talked to me.
I liked the billboard they had put up in Philly for my arrival...that was sweet.
I will also say, I am very happy the Suns took my at 13th, as I was able to just barely squeak into the lottery picks and get the Dawn of an Era achievement for getting drafted as a lottery pick.
And oh boy. Next game for the Suns, sitting at 3-4 now on the season after winning two in a row, we go on the road to 5-0 Detroit. I think I'm going to leave that one for tomorrow evening when I get my next chance to sit down and fire up the 360.
Haven't gotten a chance to start yet, but I'm hoping to make use of the new dribble controls for a better PG setup. These new controls are AWESOME compared to the last two years. Just gotta get used to the post move stuff (which are definitely cool - makes me want to learn how to do the dream shake :) ).
Okay, got some clarification from Ronnie at 2K. This isn't so bad. ONE NBA day is advanced every 24 hours on SLOW.
are there codes to unlock the classic teams ? because i'm not playing and winning those games soon enough to get what I want out of the game
when you get a trade- pick, buy dinner for team before first game, it boosts team chemestry
I made a 6'6" PG and he was guarded by Earl Boykins in a game LOL that dude is short
I don't know what's up with this game (or maybe it's something weird with the PC version) but the playcalling system seems fucked up to me. It feels cluttered and ends up just being a clusterfuck when the CPU tries to run a play. I haven't tried it in Association Mode yet where I'm making the play calls completely and can change them, but, for the My Player Mode, the playcalling system is pretty fucked up. Anyone else experience it?
I haven't really messed with playcalling yet on 2K12, just been playing freestyle ball so far in My Player, getting used to and learning the various moves that I can make and use to my advantage when I have the ball. I've started up a Denver Nuggets Association, but I haven't done a single thing in it yet. Any and all of the time that I've spent in NBA2K12 since it arrived on Wednesday has all been in My Player. But I'll keep an eye for that when I start getting playcalling up and running.
I put the qtrs to one minute and finished all the classic games to get the classic teams...and theres a couple more that were thrown in to the classic lot as well...oh yeah, now i remember,it was the 76-77 Sixers that were added, with Dr Js fro
an odd thing...when you use the 65 Celtics in play now , its in color, not black and white and there is a 3 point line on the court.
I have it on autosave but when I went into rosters to change classic players shoes, it didnt save when I used them in a game.
The game displayed that since I unlocked all the classic teams, i could use them in games online of 2 or more players
Well now, after literally not having a weekend at all (the entire weekend was spent either at work, driving or riding in a car, or sleeping, I finally got the play the Pistons this morning in My Player. Despite being 5-0, the Pistons literally were pushovers. We were winning 30-6 after one quarter, had a 55-25 lead at halftime, and just completely bitchslapped them on our way to a 93-58 win, our third victory in a row.
As for my stats, best game yet. Led the team with 22 points, the last two of those points coming on a layup with 28 seconds left (Steve Nash had 21), 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Went 8-22 on field goals, 4-10 on three pointers, and 2-2 from the free throw line. Also had my best performance of the season. Had my individual performance rated as good, ended with a B+ teammate grade, completed all three objectives (Teammate grade of B+ or higher, take at least 5 jump shots, and hold my matchup to 48.0% shooting from the field (matchup ended with 12.5%).
I also completed my dynamic goal of not committing a turnover for the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter, and completed the milestone of scoring 20 points in a single game, giving me 1374 skill points from the game. And damnit, why couldn't I have gotten a extra point somewhere. I'm currently sitting at 99 career points. Just need one more for the 100 career point milestone and another 500 skill points. Now I just need to get a better contract. A mere $100K every 14 days isn't going to cut it.
Also, we apparently suck at home. So far, with a 4-4 record, the Suns are 0-3 at home, 4-1 on the road. If we have the lead after 3 quarters, we're golden, currently 4-1 with a 3rd quarter lead on the season. 0-2 if trailing after 3. 3-2 when ahead at half, 1-2 when trailing. Some other stats, we're 2-3 against .500 or better teams, 0-3 against teams with a better FG%, 3-1 against teams with more rebounds, and 3-0 against teams with fewer turnovers.
