I'm DEFINITELY interested in this. While the online servers are worrisome, I'm still definitely interested in giving it a shot.
I'm in the process of creating a subforum for the Tailgate Basketball Assoication. Link to the forum and signup thread coming soon. This will be a 360 league.
Yeah man. For both Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlin. It's definitely pretty cool. They didn't show the 70s guys, but when you play with them, it has the cheesy ass giant yellow lettering and shit that they used to use as well.
Only thing I'm disappointed in is it appears that they really missed how the games used to be shown with no information on the screen at all and you would only occasionally get updates on the score and such. There's actually too much presentation for it to accurately show the early years of the game.
Here is the link to the subforum for the Tailgate Basketball Association - currently settings discussion, a general talk thread, and signup thread are live.
So is it actually for the 360 or was that a typo? I will gladly sign up if 360.

No sports game has ever made me this excited to play. Seriously it's all I've been able to think about for the last week. The realistic, challenging, gorgeously animated gameplay carries across a cornucopia of modes. Playing legends of the past, the stars of today, and my own personal NBA rookie are all different flavors of f#$%ing rad. Any one of these modes would be reason enough to purchase the game, but all of them together make for a game that any basketball fan has to pick up.
10 Presentation
The only way this could be more like an actual NBA broadcast would be if it locked the players out and canceled itself.
8.5 Graphics
Fantastic animations, beautiful stadiums, realistic crowds, all hindered by the too regular appearance of a few hideous character faces.
10 Sound
Hands down, the best commentary of any sports game ever. At times it surpasses actual NBA commentary. Dope soundtrack, too.
9.0 Gameplay
Some pretty minor AI weirdness is the only spot on an otherwise gleaming game.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
Between My Player, Association, NBA's Greatest, Creating a Legend, and the online modes, you'll be playing NBA 2K12 for the next 365 days.

And my copy is on it's way. Sitting in Indianapolis as of an hour ago.
I signed up back on Friday. I posted that I wanted to take the Denver Nuggets as they're my favorite team. And if 2K12 is anything like 2K11, it's going to be ugly because I can't shoot the 3 or deep 2 for my life.

I'm excited for the possibilities of 2k12. If nothing else, I know I'm going to get a TON of play out of the My Player and Association stuff if the Online Association portion turns out to be garbage.
I should have mine sometime tomorrow as well, hopefully.
Yeah, getting the game here on release day, and not randomly picking it up in the middle of May, I'll be able to get a ton more playtime out of it than I did in 2K11. Unfortunately for 11, it had to share time with NCAA, the three Assassin's Creed games, L.A. Noire, and others.
Right now, there are no games coming out that I'm buying until the end of the month, so I'll have all month to dedicate solely towards 2K12 before other games start getting released and steal some time here and there from 2K12. So I should have plenty of time to get very deep into My Player and offline Association this time around.
I'm going to go ahead and assume the fact it's taking a really long ass time to connect online means I shouldn't hold my breath on online being a quality experience. :D
Why does that not sound surprising. :smh:
Those motherfuckers. As of 6:09 AM ET (40 minutes ago), this is the status of my game according to UPS tracking.
Those fuckers better get that thing shipped up here from Indianapolis today as I went with the release day shipping option from Amazon.Quote:
The package was left in a UPS facility. / Forwarded to the facility in the destination city.
Edit - Something gives me a feeling it will for sure not be showing up today. I've now completely lost the "On time" and Delivery Estimate on the UPS Web Tracking. It's no longer even showing a Delivery Estimate at all. Just says In Transit and shows Indianapolis on Tuesday 10/04/2011 as the Last Location.
God I hope this isn't about to become a repeat of Tiger Woods 12. That damn thing took over a week from the date of release for it to arrive from UPS and Amazon.
Words can not describe how much I hate blind matchmaking. First NBA 2k11 did it. Then Madden 12 did it. Now NBA 2k12 does it again. Come on, NCAA, you do it, too. It's such a HORRIBLE idea. Oh well, I wont have time to play until tonight, so fingers crossed they improved the online connection quality by a lot.
any other observations etc, game-wise ?
I won't be able to get to it til about 9 or so tonight....will post some thoughts as CDJ and I are going to play a couple of games to test out quarter lengths and what not for the Online Association.
I had planned on renting a copy today until I get paid, but of course UPS didn't deliver its shipment yesterday, like they do every other Tuesday. Of all days, when you have NBA 2K12, Rage, Spiderman: Edge of Time, and Dark Souls all releasing on the same day, you would think efficiency would be stressed
So I heard that not only can you not change the sliders on Online Association, but you can't change settings either. I guess that will make it easier to get through a season :D
I just don't have time to run to a store and get my Larry Bird cover today. :smh: at not being able to order the cover you want on Amazon.
According to Pasta. Server problems (no surprise), but worse on PS3 than 360.
I am waiting for mine to show up (UPS is a touch slow in the boonies here) but if I somehow get a Bird cover and someone wants it, I will mail the cover to you.
I got the Magic cover. Beats getting stuck with Jordan I guess.
Online Server is definitely borked. 2ksports server not available a this time. I just wanted to enter a freaking code to access my exclusive teams but one must be logged into the 2k server to do so.
Overnight the 2K community manager said the team had a 'breakthrough' and that the online issues should improve.
Any thoughts so far?
Thank God, I'll actually have this game today. Now that the idiots at UPS actually were able to get my game shipped out of Indianapolis last night (since for whatever reason they weren't able to ship it out on Monday night when they should have), and it got into town this morning at 7:30 after arriving from Columbus, I'll finally have it today. Release day shipping my ass. :fp:
