But back on discussion.
Gameplay: Most....let me repeat.... MOST online ranked game players don't care about a sim gameplay experience. They care about their ranking online and that's it. So to spend time figuring out what someone can break and then wasting time and resources trying to fix it doesn't appeal to me as a buyer. Yes there are some plays that need to be addressed because they cover cpu ai flaws that effect realistic impressions of many plays in the game. But if someone is going to try and break the game, then I don't care what element they bring to the table for EA. This is the problem with the "East Wing Guys". They don't care about playing real football, so what they can do to the game is pointless in every facet. I want someone who plays realistically to do so, then tell EA what isn't working in a realistic environment. It's a complicated sports video game that's meant to function under the realistic rules of college football, so of course if you try and break it down to exploit it, it's going to happen. Here's my suggestion: If you don't like that the "east wingers" are playing unrealistic football, and you just can't possibly stand how much advantage they take of you because the cpu has a cpu flaw, DON'T PLAY THEM! If your goal is to have a realistic experience, get with people that are also looking for a realistic experience!!!!! Stop trying to fool yourself into thinking that the guys would want to play real football if they were "made to play" real football. It's just not going to happen. It's a lot of kids who know the point to winning football is scoring, so they do everything they can to find that one play that helps them score the most. But they don't take football seriously like we do, nor do they understand the intricacies of the sport, nor do they care about a coaching angle.
Presentation (custom entrances): I think that the custom entrances should be left off of ranked games. The people playing ranked games are not looking for a presentation based experience, period. However in OD I would really push that custom entrances should be available in user games because the experience that a player will be looking for is more dynasty and presentation oriented, with the recruiting, rankings, awards, bowl games AND yes, even game to game matters more, because you're playing at a leisurely pace with an end goal, as compared to Ranked games back to back to back to just play somebody. Also, it's not just a random opponent in OD. It's somebody that you're building a rivalry with over the course of several seasons and getting all fired up before the game as each team runs their tradition out onto the field is just another potential element of the build up and love-to-hate between you. For example I'm going to be Michigan and my friend is going to be Ohio St. In our current OD we have grown a rivalry through message posts and some great games (even though we're in separate conferences). Now next year when we get together, it would just be epic to go to his stadium and get all fired up through the tradition of the pre-game moment at his stadium, and then upset him. Also for those that never use a team outside of their OD, the potential to never see the traditions at certain schools because other users are controlling them is :(.
But I don't think that's a reason not to have them at all. I would hate for them to totally not spend time on it because I still see it in my non-user games. And it's still a part of the "total package" that I expect in an NCAA game. Stuff like the 3D crowd. I'm pumped up for that. It means little to the gameplay aspect, but my experience is going to be much more fulfilled.
