Your rational is sound ... but I don't care.
I still say it's to hold the clipboard :P

Joel Bush - CB
Redondo Beach, CA
6'0'' 194 LBS
3-Star
Evaluation:
Bush is an intriguing cornerback prospect with good size and athleticism that project well as an overall defensive back at the college level. Tall, long and rangy; may actually make the move to safety if he continues to physically develop. On the perimeter he shows flashes of good cover corner skills, particularly when deployed in press-man and bump and run coverages where he can utilize his good arm length. Does a good job rerouting and impeding the receiver's release off the line. Shows good quickness out of his breaks and flashes of smooth footwork and turns for a corner with his height. Mirrors receivers tightly and shows he can stick to the hip and defend the ball with his play-side hand. Provides favorable matchups on the jump-ball with his height, sound tracking skills and overall athleticism. Adjusts his body well to the throw. Competes and does a good job staying between the ball and receiver. Ball skills are marginal. Shows good underneath range on perimeter run and pass support with his long stride and reach as a tackler. While overall fluid for a taller corner and flexible through the hips, his transitional skills are a weaker area. Shows some wasted motion coming out of his pedal and can be rigid. Lacks great explosion and plant and drive skill breaking underneath. Quick with good range but feel his top-end speed will be challenged vertically. Footwork needs some polish as a pure lockdown; can get turned and feel he will need over the top help at the major college level. Aggressive, closes hard and makes solid contact as a tackler but has a narrow base with marginal power through his hips to project high as a true safety at this time. Overall, Bush is still a scheme versatile defensive back who could play corner (preferably underneath, Nickel or develop into a safety in the right defense. Not an immediate impact type of defender but will be attractable as a prospect with the natural tools he has to develop.
Josh Smith
MLB #10 http://www.thegamingtailgate.com/for...lies/4star.gif
6'0"
243 lbs
Bakersfield, Ca
Speed B
Tackle B-
Man Coverage C
Zone Coverage D
Josh comes in as a Linebacker that could fit in right away with the Trojans. He's got good speed and coverage skills and recognizes plays very well. Maybe one of the best in this years recruiting class. He also uses his 243 lbs to get off of blocks well. He should be able to use a redshirt year to work on a few things and ready to contribute by his sophomore year.
I know who I am targeting in zone coverage, D zone rating, ouch!

Rob is coming into PSU with good upside with his instincts but he is really lacking in the pass coverage area. The hope is to get him in early and Redshirt him and have him basically sit back and really learn his responsibilities as a MLB. Rob comes from a high school were they ran the ball basically so there will be a transition once he arrives on campus.
[5star] [espnu150] QB Antonio Smith

Antonio will redshirt this upcoming season for PSU. When asked about coming to PSU with a class of 2SR's, 2JR's, and 2 FR that are redshirting, Smith was quick to let everyone know, he came to PSU to compete and win the starting job right from the start. He hopes to impress the staff enough in the preseason to avoid a RS but is fine if that happens as well.
I have had the best recruiting year this year I have ever had in any dynasty I have ever played. While this year has been strange with a very large number of recruits interested in VT, I changed up my strategy a little bit too. On week 1, I only put 10 prospects on my board, one or two of whatever position I need. In years past, I would need 1 or 2 positions and struggle to get them. This year, I needed 6 positions and have managed to land them all by week 8.
What I have done is as I said, I started with 10 players on the board and spent 1 hour on each of them. I hit several insta-commits on week one, so I added some more. Once I started getting a big lead against the players #2, I started adding positions not on my team needs page, but rather positions that I feel are key to have depth in and to improve the talent at certain positions. I skipped recruiting several weeks for some 4*, #1 interest guys because I had such a big lead and spent more time on those who I had just added. I only really had to fight 2 of you for recruits all year, Oklahoma lost a 4* to me while we fought for 1 point difference for a few weeks and I lost one to Penn St under the same situation (I think they were both 4* SS).
At this point I have hit a delimna, I only have 9 scholly's left and I expect to pick up 11 other guys. IDK who to remove from the board, even though I think I am going to have to cut some of the guys that I recruited. It's awesome and frustrating at the same time.
Are there any specific recruiting strategies that you guys use?
Here is a look at the Hurricane's recruiting class so far this season.

Coaches considered Clay the best interior lineman in the class even though he is a JUCO(soph). He looks to start from day one with 4 of the 5 starters on the O-line leaving after the season.
Adam Maxwell
C [4star][espnu150]
6'0" 275lbs

Adam is another recruit that joined the Canes because of his opportunity to play right away. O-line was a major position of need and the coaching staff came up big this season.
Adam McLaurin

6'4" 200lbs
Lochearn, MD
Speed- B
Tackle- C+
Block Shedding- B-

Adam is the latest to sign and is at a position that needs some serious depth. He has the play making ability the coaching staff covets in the OLB position.
I can honestly say that I've never come close to filling my schollie limit. Of course I never usually have more the 67, 68 on my roster. I tend to focus on a core group of players usually around 15. I'll fill my board with 35 but usually never get to the bottom guys unless I land a bunch early.
I only put between 10-15 on my board so I don't miss any X2's. It really depends on the recruiting class on how many people I put on my board. If it is a really good class and I have quite a few guys interested, I will put a few more on my board.
I only hope to land around 15 players a year, with a reshirt year that will give me a rolling 75 if everyone stays for 5 years.
yep, im on the oneback plan, i suffered through my big loss of seniors this year so it should normal out
Quarterback
HalfBack
FullBack
Wide Reciever
Offensive Line
Defensive Line
Corners
Safties
Kicking
14 Seniors leaving, 8 of them starters, and 4 of those on the o line. I expect to lose some juniors as well, however I look to score several more 4*'s and I believe I will actually land 25 scholly's this season. Gonna be tough come cut players time.
