What is the big deal about Animal Crossing?
My sister was addicted to the one on the GameCube. Is the new one much different? The one on the Wii wasn't from what I remember.

Anyone going to be picking up Disney Infinity for PS#/360 whenever it releases? It looks to be the same format as Skylanders where you have to buy characters/box sets. It kids are fascinated with it.

What is the difference between gaming and hobbies like chess? Can one become the other? Are some games more like hobbies? And how do casual gamers become core gamers?

Things just keep getting worse for the WiiU. First there was this.
and now the ultimate insult. Poor Target has no clue what a WiiU looks like. Inserts Wii console in advertisement.

So, it seems in the last couple weeks, a brand spanking new Gamestop moved into a strip mall on the north side of town, just had their grand opening this past week, so I no longer have to make 15-20 minute (one way) trips down US 24 to the next town over to visit Gamestop.
I may actually start going back to Gamestop now, at least for new, release-day purchases (fuck them and their shitty, bend you over the table and ream you a new one used game prices). Go make the 5 minute drive through downtown to the Gamestop on the north side of town at 10am on release day and get a game, or wait for UPS to drop off my copy from Amazon anywhere between 1pm and 5pm (and who the hell knows when exactly it'll be, it changes every damn time). And it's actually a really nice store. Granted it's only a week old, but very roomy, much bigger than the store in Napoleon and it has better lighting and layout.
I may have to give some thought over the next week or two of possibly cancelling my Amazon pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V and moving it to Gamestop. A 15 minute trip to the north side of town and back and be playing by 10:30am, or wait for who the hell knows when UPS will get around to delivering my game between 1pm and 5pm. The 15 minute round trip visit to the new Gamestop in town works for me.
 :D
I will say it is nice to finally have one here. There's been one in Napoleon (15-20 minute drive one way) and Bryan (20-25 minute trip one way) for years, and making the drive was always a waste of gas and time since that was the only reason I had for going to either of those cities. So eventually I went 99.99% Amazon when it came to buying games, only once or twice picking them up at Walmart.
Being a town around 16,000, according to the last census though that seems low, I was also wondering why there was never a Gamestop in town. We've had two independent video game stores in town, but I've never really visited them. People have had issues with them in the past, plus they're located right in the middle of downtown on the main drag, which makes finding parking a bitch just to even stop in for two minutes.
It takes me 1.5 hours, one way, to pick up my daughter and she lives on the other side of town. I really don't want to hear about your waste of time and gas for a 15 minute drive. ;)
I'm using Tapatalk 2 and the Cleveland Browns STILL suck.
I'm considering playing through the Mass Effect Trilogy for the umpteenth time. Such an amazing experience.
Really um just wow , so yea just wow :fp:
I must of missed that age and joke lol.

Most Overrated Games of All-time

For me COD (the ENTIRE series).
Agree with GTA IV. Disagree with UC3 and spent way too much time playing Minecraft to call it overrated. Knocking Skyrim is the cool thing to do these days (Mors was ahead of the curve on this one). I loved it and was hoping for more DLC.
People are finally starting to see how dumbly programmed that game is, how utterly boring it is after about 20 hours of doing the same shit over and over again, and how incredibly HORRIBLE the story is. Bethesda, as a company is SO god damn overrated. They haven't been involved with a game that has a story worth a fuck since Morrowind.
I swear Mors has some serious spidey sense when the topic Skyrim is discussed. I will agree that Bethesda has monkey's running the QA department as their games are buggy as hell but they have made three games that I put at least 500 hours in. Skyrim, Fallout3 and Fallout New Vegas (Obsidian but published by Bethesda).
I don't know, I played the GOTY versions of Fallout/NV so they had already been patched to the gills and both were a mess. I finally had to turn off auto-save (on everything) with Fallout NV to avoid a corrupt auto save every other time I walked out of a building.
If I want great stories, I will read a book or watch TV. I would rather just be killing things when I have a controller in my hand. Have a plot, minimal cut scenes and keep the NPC discussion short.
Yeah I have probably put in well over 600 hours in Bethesda games....not tired of them at all.
And, you people are what's wrong with video games. :P
Sounds exactly like me right now with Defiance. Yeah, the storyline in the game may not be the greatest, and between the main missions, episode missions and side missions, there may be a lot of repetition, but for me, the big focus in Defiance is going around killing stuff, and teaming up with dozens of other people to do some SERIOUS killing on the big final "bosses" of the Major Arkfalls.
I can be in the middle of a mission in the game, and if I spot a nice little group of enemies, or have an Arkfall pop up on my map nearby (or Major Arkfall anywhere for that matter thanks to fast travel), I drop everything I'm doing in the mission and am going off to kill some enemies or hauling ass to an Arkfall. That's the big thing for me in Defiance. Reading online, some people have the repetition and weak story as their biggest complaints (well, biggest complaints that aren't bug-related).
But for me, I can overlook that. The killing and the teamwork required to kill certain things, is the big sticking point in the game for me and what keeps me loading Defiance up seemingly every time I get on my 360 since I bought it a week ago.
