The 86-87 Jabbar game is the last of the Lakers/Celtics matchups. Johnson was the MVP of the series, so I'm not totally sure why that one is listed for Kareem. Unless it's not the playoff matchup (possible).

this and the hockey game would be something I wouldnt mind having/getting this year..they seem to be making huge jumps in presentation and gameplay
Y'all could always go play NBA Elite...
will you be able to do the sky hook in the game ?
Their blog today breaking down the legends mentions a new post play system with more info coming later. Hopefully we'll get that answer then.
I like 2K11's post-play but not the controls behind it. Hopefully it's less complicated and more stream-lined in 2K12.

Let's look at the other end of the matchup. Maybe 2K Sports wanted to get a special team in against the '85 Sixers, right? Well, the 1984-85 Bucks provide no compelling reason why 2K should have taken the '84-'85 Dr. J team and not one from earlier - like, say, the 1982-1983 76ers, who won the franchise's last NBA title.
In fact, the 76ers and the Bucks and their principal stars—Erving and Milwaukee's Sidney Moncrief—had met in the Eastern Conference Finals of the 1983 playoffs. And both superstars, Erving and Moncrief, had better years in 1983 than in 1985. Absent Barkley, not only is there no plausible difference in the personnel of the two teams, 1985 to 1983, the 1983 matchup is in fact better and more historically relevant.
And so, where last year, in crafting the Jordan Challenge, the game's creators steered away from Barkley, this year they seem to have aimed directly at him, and his debut year, and yet he is not in the lineup of legends.
or maybe he just didnt sign the paper work?
Here you go Ram, you can get this with a preorder of 2K12.

That was suggested as the reason he's not in the game. As the article says, that's business and no one really has an issue with that. But the fact that his rookie year team is in the game, without him, is very strange since there's no real reason to use that year and team other than Barkley.
That is what keeps me going back to NCAA Basketball 10. Great post play controls on offense and defense. Never liked isomotion and always enjoyed controlling a players moves with the R-Stick. Shooting with the stick has never felt natural to me and they have really made shooting all-together to freaking complex. All the options with buttons, stick, real % or based on timing are great but I never felt comfortable with any of them.
Only way I go back to the 2K or even EA basketball games is if a college game is made. I loved NBA basketball up to the late 90's and not I just end up watching the playoffs.
if ratings really matter in these/this game with the historic teams, mid range jump shot ratings should be much higher for players from 1980s teams, than any team from this year LOL
So... does anyone know what I "have" to do to get the Bird cover? Love me some Larry Legend and I'm going to be pissed if I cannot pre-order a Larry Bird cover copy.
My understanding is that no retailer is offering pre-orders on a specific cover.
I could imagine that a store like Gamestop may allow someone picking up a pre-order to choose a specific cover, but since the Larry/Magic covers are "limited run", I'm not sure how many copies of each will actually be available.

Can't miss an opportunity to show off Cartwright at the Free Throw stripe.
Just had NCAA BB 10 freeze up 3 straight games and this is on a new 360 250GB system. Looks like I might be purchasing NBA 2K12 and just play games with the legends.
