:D I think I'm sold on this game
My favorite new IP this generation easily and I wasn't introduced to the series until the PS3 GotY edition of ME2.
Also, forgot to mention, the PS3 version of Mass Effect 1 will be sold separately via PSN and yes, it'll have glorious trophies. I personally plan to get the whole bundle...I don't have any of the games on PS3 nor have I played any of them on PS3.
Here's to hoping Left 4 Dead eventually hops over to PS3, too.
Debating whether or not the bundle will be less than ME1 + ME3 at that point. I guess it depends on how much they choose to charge for ME1. ME3 on Black Friday could still be a good call (since I already have ME2).
I thought it looked like the bundle had "extras", but upon further review it doesn't look like it.
I'm not getting the bundle, but ME1 standalone I'd get.

This may be one of those placeholder dates that's not legit, but Amazon has the PS3 version of METrilogy on 12/31/12.
However, since that's a Monday I'm not particularly inclined to believe it.
I'm not sure if this was in the original release, but just saw this on Joystiq from yesterday:
The original Mass Effect will launch as a digital standalone on PSN on the same day the Trilogy launches for PS3, for $15.
The price wasn't in there, thanks! Makes it easier to do the math ... I should be able to get the digital ME and ME3 for considerably less than Trilogy.
Joystiq also detailed the DLC that will be included with Trilogy (though PS3 is still TBD): http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/30/ma...60-ps3-info-t/
PSN Store getting a facelift 10/23. Looks very XBOX-ish.

I'm glad it looks Xbox-ish. It looks WAY better than the old store. That thing was straight garbage.
Couldn't care less about the front-end (I don't mind the front page), because if they don't figure out how to make their content easier to find, any front-end change won't matter. Their "New Releases" used to be easy. "PS Plus" used to be easy. Now both are horribly difficult to sort through. If it wasn't for IGN's summary of all the changes to the Store, I wouldn't have a clue what was new on the Store, because I can't tell one thing from another.
It's supposed to be easier to find stuff, at least from all the reviews I've read. I agree, though, it's a HUGE pain to find anything. There's also virtually no advertising from within the store itself. New and big releases need to be promoted more from within the store itself. I think that's a "duh" statement, but it's something Sony apparently has trouble with.
I actually disagree. I think there's plenty of advertisement inside the store. But they could do it more ... efficiently.
Yeah, that's probably a better way to put it. I don't know, I like the look of the new design much better than the old. I've read it's more functional and smoother as well, so those are huge pluses.
The one thing I never understood, though...why was there so much blue before? Playstation has always been black and it just makes more sense to have a darker set of colors for your store design, which is why I was always baffled by the bright blue. It looks so much better.
Hint to Sony: do the same to the Vita store. As bad as the old PS3 store was, the Vita store is even worse. Way worse.

Video of the new look store. Looks pretty good to me. Hopefully, its simple to get to the free PS+ games still.
They launched it for Europe and within a few hours had to revert to the old store because everything was broken and nothing would load. You have to give it to Sony, if there's a way to mess something up, they often find the way and execute it flawlessly.

The date shown at the end of the ad is October 23, 2012, which is the date the new PlayStation Store design is set to go live in North America.
I'm betting it's another ad campaign like the one where all of the game characters were together. That actually looks a bit like the lobby.
And yes, actually it's the same woman... 27 seconds in.

On the surface, the store update looks nice.
Firmware update 4.30 set to go tonight. It'll be an update that really only pertains to Beatn and myself I guess :D
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/...th-playstation
A new firmware update is incoming for PlayStation 3. The update, outlined by Sony, affects two things: Trophies and Life With PlayStation.
For starters, firmware update 4.30 will change how Trophies are viewed on PlayStation 3. The Trophy list will be moved on the CrossMediaBar (XMB) from the Games list to the PlayStation Network list. And most interestingly, Trophies earned on PlayStation Vita will finally be viewable on PlayStation 3. As it stands right now, you can see PS3 and Vita Trophies on Vita, but only PS3 Trophies on PS3, even if you’re using the same username across both machines.

Additionally, update 4.30 will usher in the final weeks of the Life With PlayStation application and its primary purpose -- the Folding@home service -- a collaboration between Sony and Stanford University. Folding@home was a way for idle PS3 users to lend “computation hours” to the university as it researched ailments such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. According to Sony, over 15 million gamers lent over 100 million “computation hours” to Stanford University’s research.
Update 4.30 will go live on Tuesday, October 23rd. Life With PlayStation, as well as Folding@home, will end completely in November.

Saw an article on CNet saying Life / Folding@home was coming to a close. Not really sure why trophies "needed" to be moved but whatever.
Why are they getting rid of Folding?
Sweet. I knew about Folding@Home, but I hadn't heard about SETI@home before. Looked it up earlier, downloaded and installed, and while I am using my PC right now (using it minimally as I'm playing FIFA Soccer on my 360 currently, have SETI@home running right now. Thanks for mentioning that. I'll have to look through all of the projects they have listed in the BOINC Manager, see if there's anything else of interest I might consider adding to the workload with SETI.
Glad to hear it, Smooth.
Yep. I went through the list in BOINC Manager, I currently have SETI@home and Orbit@home (near earth asteroid stuff) sharing resources on my PC. I for the most part have my PC on and running 24/7, with the exception of a couple times a week I put it in hibernate mode while I'm out of town, so yeah, this will at least let me put my PC to good use instead of it just sitting there running unused.
Well the 1TB HDD is not working out for me. System errored out again when trying to install the update. Hopefully Newegg gives me a refund. I was able to use my old HDD to get out of the install loop, and was able to boot onto the TB HDD and do a backup. When I get home from work tonight I'll restore the system onto my old 320GB HDD.
Oh man boo on that big time!! Good luck!
