Nope, I haven't gotten a code.
I did get one for another title though. Completely out of the blue.

Nah, go ahead and play. I don't have time ATM anyway.
Just a little warning, it's extremely rough around the edges.
I know, but when I say it's really rough, I mean it's really rough. :D
I can't say exactly what some of the problems are because of the NDA, but if you've played other shooters before, it'll slap you right in the face the very first time you spawn. I'm sure a lot of it will get fixed, though.
AND FOR THE RECORD, JEFF, YES, I HAD FUN WITH IT.
Hey PS2 fans, PCSX2 1.0 is out
Summary: After over a decade of development, version 1.0 of PCSX2, an open-source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator, has finally been made available for Windows and Linux. You know what to do.
The YouTube app is pretty nice, though if you have a lot of your own playlists, or subscriptions, then the menu is probably going to be ridiculous. For me, it's pretty manageable.
I couldn't find any obvious way to search for playlists within the App, so I found it easier to just save other people's playlists as my own, and then access them that way.
Certainly an upgrade over YouTube XL. Only thing I had a problem with was that all the videos I was watching claimed to be 720p. It was obvious some of them weren't. Couldn't tell if it was the source or something in the App.
Just tried to download and install the new firmware, and it fucked up my PS3, ugh. I get this error, and am stuck in an endless install loop.
dont scare me...just finished
man, a madden n ps3 update, same day, enough already
Found this on YouTube. Sounds like it works. I'll lose my data, but what I really want is in the cloud.
How To Fix PS3 Stuck On 99% Update loop
1. Turn on PS3
2. Wait until installing occurs and pull out old HDD at 0%
3. Error should occur(let it run the count down and let PS3 restart itself)
4. You should be seeing a "press PS3 button on controller screen". On that screen put your new HDD in the PS3 AND have USB with update on it in the PS3.
5. Let it look for the update on the usb and download it / let the PS3 restart itself
6. Now you should be seeing the "press PS3 button on controller screen" again (don't worry)
7. Let the PS3 reformat your new HDD and let PS3 restart itself
8. After the reformatting it should reinstall the update using your USB again
9. If it worked you should see a screen with a PS3 to the ps3's,
10. Congrats you got your ps3 back:)

Well that didn't work, so I'm going to try this now before sending it to Sony.
Alright, I got it at last with these steps people.
1. Unpluged ps3, and removed hdd.
2. Plugged hdd into a external hdd enclosure, and plugged that into my pc.
3. Opened up Computer Management (look it up people) > Storage > Disk Management. Then I found my hdd, right clicked it and chose format, follow the utility choosing NTFS as file system, default allocation, and do a FULL FORMAT. Let it sit, its gonna take awhile, especially if your using USB 2.0.
4. Stay in Disk Management, right click your drive, click "Mark Partition as Active"
5. Pop the hdd back into the ps3 and go to recovery.
6. Choose "Update System"
7. Get a flash drive and put PS3UPDAT.PUP on it. read it on Sony's web site, search "ps3 firmware" on google if you need to.
8. Plug in flash drive to ps3, hit start + select. It will then bitch and say it needs to format the hard disk. Hold start + select till the process starts.
9. Congrats! firmware should flash and start its process.
P.S. This will fix the following errors: 8002F281, "The hard disk cannot be accessed", or "Correct hard disk was not found"
Killzone HD Coming 10/23 with Trophies.
Fucking boom! Get ready, PS3...you're getting dusted off next month.

I enjoy how that thread goes from "it must be Sony" to "it can't be Sony, it has to be EA", and back and forth. :D
Maybe there's an upside to not having my PS3/internet after all ... no new firmware for me!
Good thing Madden BLOWS and I haven't even bothered firing up my GameFly rental of it so I'll just avoid it to save my PS3.
I'm hoping this hard drive enclosure helps my problems. I'll find out in a couple hours.
What's the new PSN update for?
A lot of games use it to automatically upload newest game saves to the cloud. If your hard drive were to become corrupted or something else that would cause the data to be lost, you could just copy the latest saves from the cloud back to your hard drive and not have to restart everything. It's basically a backup.
Yeah basically without it, I'd lose 175 hours of play in my Skyrim save file.

SUCCESS!!!!!!! :)) :)) :)) :)) :))
Basically the fix was:
a) Get a HDD Enclosure and format and old SATA drive with your PC.
b) Put that formatted drive into your PS3 and let the system format and run a system update.
c) Shut off the PS3, swap in your current hard drive
d) Update to the latest system software.
And the best part, I didn't lose any data. Won't have to re-download all of the PSN games and etc.
Well, yeah. That's why I haven't done it so far. I guess I really meant "set it with the games I care about". Obviously I'm not going to set it for PSN I don't give two craps about. But right now I'm really selective about what I manually copy up there. With a full gig, I can be a little less selective.
I'm still not likely to do it for, say, NCAA (because other than the profile and roster, most stuff can be re-created easily enough, and all those Heisman Challenge files would take up a ton of space), but like Ratchet & Clank? Or ME3 when I get it? Easier just to set those to the cloud.
He's special
Sony's never been that great about keeping redesigned video game hardware a secret, so it's no surprise that the much rumored PlayStation 3 model debuted this evening at Tokyo Game Show.
Sleeker and slimmer, the new PS3 comes in "charcoal black," but Japan gets the super-special "classic white" option. Sony says that the internal volume and weight of the new PS3 is less than half of the original system. It's 20 percent and 25 percent less volume/weight compared to the current PS3 Slim.
Different regions will see different versions of the systems along with different prices.
North America
250GB - $269 (Bundle Only) - September 25th
500GB - $299 - October 30th

Going back to the top loading drive, huh?
I don't see the point of this really. It's virtually the same price, so why even bother wasting time manufacturing the new design? Oh well, I don't need to buy one. I'm already on my 4th and just a month ago it became the first one to last more than a year and a week, and it's still chugging right along. Knock on wood.
Everyone tells me I have the opposite happen of what happens for everyone else. I've had 2 360s and I've never had one break. I had a launch 360 last me clear up until I got my Gears of War 3 version slim last winter and the only reason I upgraded at that point was because of an amazing deal. It was still working just fine and so far my Gears one has been great...no problems.
On the flip side, I had a launch PS3 die after a year a couple days. I had another fat model die after a year and a few days. I then even went as far as having a slim die after only a year and 5 or 6 days. It was the bluray drive each and every single time. That's one of the reasons I can't wait until Microsoft and Sony both start becoming more accepting of digital content delivery.
