Excellent start by the USA but gotta hope they don't blow their load early and then run out of gas. What's the temp/humidity like tonight?
Obviously I was never world class in shape but I can tell you running 6-10 miles a day in the summer didn't matter when the temp was in the 90s and humidity high early in our high school seasons. Even with unlimited subs we were GASSED by the end of the game.
IMHO if Ghana wanna sit back down 0-1. Take the damn air out of the ball and just watch the clock run b/c at some point they are going to turn it up and you need the energy to respond.
England in particular appeared to collapse under the heat/humidity against Italy as they were making a ton of mental errors and just shanking passes/shots/crosses at the end.
The ESPN Radio stations here are doing local shows :fp:

Apparently US fans in the stadium have started chanting "I believe that we will win". Yeah, just a tad bit premature there.
Still 75 minutes to go with only a one goal lead. That's a lot of time for our defense to screw up or the players just plain get worn out under the conditions. Probably best to wait until at least mid way through the second half before starting that chant.

We need some possession here b/c right now its just a matter of time before the equalizer
damn so close to being 2-0
Not good for Altidore - he definitely pulled or tore something - way too early to be cramps (i'd hope)
Just looked up the weather. Temperature isn't bad, sitting at 80 degrees. Humidity is a bitch though with 73% humidity right now.

Can't afford to lose Altidore. :(
I'd be stunned of Altidore is able to return for the rest of the tourny - that just looked to me like something tore b/c he just immediately pulled up and it was without contact.
Hate to see Altidore go down.
Yeah, a lot of comments online and o Twitter of it appearing to be a hamstring injury. If he ends up done for the tournament, talk about a major blow to their already slim chances of getting out of the group.

Joe Biden sighting. So that's where Obama hid him.... Brasil.
Our defense looks MUCH more organized than it did earlier in qualifying. Either that or Ghana is way out of whack on the attack.
Tim Howard will be the difference tonight. The US has a World Class keeper, Ghana doesn't.
Yet our passing is on the poor side lately. Should have had them watching tapes of the Spurs offense. ;)
I love me some soccer. Get kicked in the face - no foul. Fall down like you've been shot despite not being touched your opponent is kicked out of the match.
we need some possession at the other end please.
good lord how many cramps/leg issues can we have in one game
half time coming packed up to try to make it home by the start of the 2nd half.......
Great spot for a free kick.
At least they have the game on for my drive home.

Sounds like we need more possession to keep the lead.

Damn.
Gotta say, we really suck at soccer. Ghana has pretty much controlled the ball the entire game.
Well, I bet the USA fans there in the stadium now feel like dumbasses sitting there chanting "I believe we will win" when it was 1-0 and only 10-15 minutes into the match. That'd be like Oklahoma students chanting that after returning the opening kickoff against Texas and leading 7-0 midway through the first quarter. :fp:

Holy shit! What an answer on the corner kick for the US!

Now these announcers need to shut the fuck up and stop acting like it's over. Ghana still has two minutes plus injury time, and our defense has blown donkey balls this second half.
