I have 3 TB worth of HDD waiting to meet you Mr. XB1.
Could be. I'm personally waiting until I know for sure. I bought a 64GB thumb drive when it was announced the 360 would support that, and they ended up limiting it to 16GB per thumb drive for some asinine reason.
Hopefully there's no restrictions this time around. That rumor floating around of it being limited to 512GB definitely sounds like something Microsoft would do, though. Hopefully they're smarter than that.
Look who's back :D
Oh fuck... :fp:
Well....it sounds like we're getting UNLIMITED EXTERNAL HDD SUPPORT!
Xbox One's June update adds your friends' real names and external drive support

This patch finally allows using external drives for storage too, so long as they're USB 3.0 and are at least 256GB.

I know what I'm buying when I get paid next Friday.
Yeah, I'd say it's confirmed. One of the pictures that engadget has in that article shows "External Drive 3.6 TB free of 3.6 TB". Assuming that's an actual picture of what it'll be like on the Xbox One, then you can for sure have a 3-4 TB drive hooked up.
It has me wondering now, could you use multiple external drives if you simply connect them all to a USB hub and connect the hub to the One? I do that right now with the two external drives that I have for my laptop. I have both drives connected to the hub, plus various USB charger cords. Both drives show up perfectly fine, as if they were both plugged directly into my laptop, when I plug the USB hub in. So conceivably, it theoretically could work on the Xbox One.
Looking at that same drive you bought JB, right now on Amazon, it's $108.49 for a 3TB drive. The 5TB drive is $211.16. So I'd be tempted to either get two 3TB drives at $108.49 and end up with 6TB total for almost the same price as a single 5TB drive, or consider getting two 4TB drives, which go for $149.99 alone, to end up with 8TB total for $300 total.
With either 6 or 8TB, I'd pretty much be set for the entire life of the Xbox One console. I don't think I'd blow through 6 or 8TB for at least a couple years (if I were to buy every Xbox One game released) and even then, I'm sure there would be some games I'd delete off my hard drive at some point, like old Maddens and other sports games. And with a PS4 now, I'm no longer going to be buying every single game on the One. I'm gonna get Watch_Dogs, FIFA and NHL on the PS4, so that's three games right off the bat that I won't have taking up space on my internal or external drives on my One.
