:fb: Nathan's Hot Dogs coming to State College
Quote:
Known for its historic Coney Island roots and annual hot dog eating competition, Nathan’s Famous Hotdogs will find a home in Happy Valley starting in the fall.
A sign in the window of the 404 East Calder Way storefront, the former location of Baja Fresh, indicates the arrival of the hot dog franchise and its frequent cobranding partner, Arthur Treacher’s Fish and Chips.
A representative from the Nathan’s Corporate Office confirmed that a store would be opening in State College by the start of fall semester but could not provide a specific date.
Casual Mexican restaurant Baja Fresh has been out of business since December 2012, following a wave of closings for the chain nation wide.
State College joins over 1,700 locations in 41 states and 17 countries to host a Nathan’s. Fast food seafood chain Arthur Treacher’s has approximately 45 stores in eight states.
New and old, Penn State students are excited by the news.
“I’m pretty excited. Nathan’s always reminds me of my childhood when I would take trips to Coney Island in the summer,” said senior Anthony Panichelli. “It will be a good addition to the diet of an ‘East Sider’ like me.”
“That is awesome news,” said freshman Aaron Weber. “I’m sure that place will do well with passing students who just want a hot dog on the way to class.”
Out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried Whitecastle? We don't have them up here (or at least up here on the left coast). Watching Harold and Kumar last night... are they as good as the movie implies??? Just curious...
Never had it. I have no idea where the nearest one is to me, but I know it's not anywhere within 50 miles of me. I'm gonna guess I'd have to go to Detroit or Columbus, but driving 2+ hours to Detroit and 3+ hours to Columbus sort of kills any chance of me ever trying it.
Really, I don't know, it just doesn't look that impressive to me. I can get a nice cheap cheeseburger (as well as double cheeseburger or jr. cheeseburger) with ketchup, mustard, cheese, lettuce and tomato from Wendys, McDonalds or Burger King (and have it at least be good) for one or two bucks and change. Whereas White Castle, it's what? A tiny ass patty with onion and pickles and maybe cheese? Yeah, I'll pass. I'll stick for the cheap and tasty cheeseburgers and junior cheeseburgers with everything on them.
Highly overrated. Tried em when I was in Chicago. Any burger that gets sold in Grocery Stores...

Pass. They call em sliders because they slide right through you.
I'm finally having the Hawaiian BBQ flatbread from Tropical Smoothie. Pretty good.
White Castle is overrated and over priced. Damn near $0.60 for a tiny square hamburger. Once in a blue moon after drinking or while drinking I'll get the crave but its few and far between. Last time I had White Castle was probably 16 months ago. And there is one literally 5 minutes if that from my house.
I like the Chick Fil A breakfast burritos. Other than that, the only great thing about the place is that they let me control how much mayo goes on it.
I'm using Tapatalk 2 and the Cleveland Browns STILL suck.
I do like Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich but their nuggets are :smh:
I love Chick Fil A. Eat there more than anywhere else when I choose to pick up a quick meal. Love the waffle fries. :)
And there is a Chick Fil A on a busy stretch of road in town and I was there a week or two ago, going through drive through. I was probably the 8th or 9th car in line. Got my food in less than 5 minutes...now that is service.
Chick Fil A also has really good shakes.
