I really thought that Coach O would have got the job.
Wake Forest's Jim Grobe resigns.
He's consoling Lane Kiffin
I am still trying to figure out if Sark was a good hire or not.
Okay well outside of the "political" things at SCal, football wise is he a good fit? He didn't set the world on fire at Washington, but at the same time its Washington.
Who knows? Good fit for now I guess. Previous assistant coach there, should recruit the area well, should assemble a good staff, blah blah. If he wins, yes, if he loses, no............just like everywhere else. Far as "fit", I think his previous experience coaching at SCal impressed the right folks but then again the same folks dug Lame Kiffen:D
USC probably should have hired Sarkisian instead of Kiffin. Sark probably (OK, definitely) has a better head on his shoulders, but in some regards he is cut from the same cloth as Lane. They seem committed to hiring a "USC guy."
Seeing people on Twitter reporting Boise's Chris Petersen is interviewing (in Boise) with Washington reps.
If Peterson does go to Washington, that opens the door for ASU to lose yet another coach after one year as Harsin was Boise's OC during their biggest run.
I doubt they would hire him after a 7-5 season with a big buyout but ASU fans are paranoid after having 4 coaches in 4 years. Probably better it to happen this year than the next few.
Joe Schad reporting Petersen to Washington and will one of highest paid coaches in Pac-12.
Have also read that Harsin has a $1M buyout and it is expected that Boise will pursue him if Petersen does leave.
Holy shit. I never expected Petersen to actually leave Boise. It was the same song and dance every year, multiple teams trying to woo him, but he would stand his ground and keep his commitment to Boise. And after signing a new $12 million, 5 year extension in April 2012, I figured he was going to stay there for the long haul.
Even with the $1 million buyout, I definitely see Boise going after and doing what it has to do to get Harsin back to replace Petersen.
SP - I didn't think he would leave either, but the UW move makes sense. If anywhere, a job in the Pacific NW fits him, IMO.
Yeah, it is a good fit, being in the Pacific NW, I agree. And it does help I suppose that Washington already previously went after him at least once before back in 2009 before hiring Sarkisian.
if he does make the move, hopefully it works out for him. I've always enjoyed watching Boise State's games and he is one hell of a coach. Hopefully it works and Washington stays competitive or improves under him.
Pretty sure Harsin's buyout is $1.75M before February. After February it's $1M.
Either way, I hate being in this position as an ASU fan. People already throwing out names like Orgeron and Lashlee (Malzahn's really young OC). I don't know who I'd want but neither of them. Just hope it doesn't come to that.
Btw, both Freeze and Malzahn left on 12/4...
:smh:
Why do people continue to come coach at Wyoming? Every coach that has ever coached there has done NOTHING with their career after leaving there. That place is one of about 10 blackholes in NCAA Division I football.
Wow! Completely out of the blue, just days after leading Bowling Green to their first MAC championship in 21 years, Falcons coach Dave Clawson leaves to take the head coach position at Wake Forest.
Rumors abound that Mack Brown stepping down at Texas.
Sounds like we should hear something relatively soon regarding Boise State. Sources are mixed saying Harsin and not Harsin...
I keep reading that Dirk Koetter will get the Boise job.
Wasn't Koetter the coach there after Nutt?
The rumors are out of control re: Saban to Texas. The latest is that he has an offer of 10-year $100M + 1% of the LHN.
Boise State status still unresolved. Every source under the moon has a different story between Koetter and Harsin.
This morning a recent former player that does sideline reporting during games wished Harsin luck in Boise as though it's a done deal. Wouldn't expect him to say it if it weren't confirmed but with this damned rollercoaster, who knows as this point.
There's a press conference today for the GoDaddy Bowl... should know something definitive by then I would expect.
They wouldn't post it unless it's legit... here we go again. I say we hire Montgomery from Baylor so that Briles can leave next year and we can do it all over again.
Just saw it pop up in my notifications too. Crazy all the turnover there.
Sent from my DROID RAZR Maxx since I'm too lazy to get to the CPU using Tapatalk 4
Not entirely accurate... John Thompson was our interim during our bowl last year and will be interim again this year.
All the same, ridiculous. We'll be on our fifth full-time head coach in five years.
They should just hire Tommy. He won't leave. (or would he?)
According to players, Harsin left without so much as a word of good-bye... really sad that that is becoming the trend now-a-days. I understand players probably already know from twitter, etc. but still call a meeting and say goodbye, especially all that these players have been through.
I don't remember who it was but I know in the past couple of years, one coach called a meeting and said he's leaving and he understands any hard feelings... if you're mad at me and don't want to see my face, there's the backdoor. If you want to say goodbye, I'll be up here by the front door. None of the players went out the backdoor.
Pretty tacky to take the easy way out. Most players will understand the opportunity you have in front of you and embrace you out the door.
