So I'm not a Civ player. Got IV for cheap on a Steam sale, but what is so bad about V? Ratings for it on Amazon are terrible, and that's a total of almost 1000 reviews.
Honestly people who care too much!!! Civ IV was alot smoother and more polished than V initally but I think V has come a long way since it was released, now IV is still probably the best one, but V is not terrible especially if you never played the hell out of IV.
IV had about three different expansions, and was very balanced . V doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it still pretty solid.
Civ IV is god when it comes to Civ games. It's depth is pretty much the best and Civ V is missing two big features (Religion and Corporations) that were stripped out of the original release of Civ V to make it more non-hardcore friendly. Civ V is fine as long as you have the Gods and Kings Expansion. People are just snobs about Civ IV because it's a REALLY good game.
The main differences are the two above (no Religion without Gods and Kings Expansion and no Corporations means the game, in general, is more combat oriented than other Civ games) and supposedly the tech tree is bigger in IV (93 tech tree options in Civ IV with their expansions compared to 78 in Civ V with it's expansions) but that's hardly that big of a deal, in my opinion as they consolidated some of the old Civ IV techs and they removed the need for Tech tree usage for religions altogether.
Personally, as much as I liked, and still do like, Civ VI, Civ V is just BEAUTIFUL graphically and it just streamlines a lot of bullshit from VI. I can't freakin' wait to get home so I can install Gods and Kings and start playing Civ V again personally.
Yeah, people who just got a stick up their ass and felt the need to trash Civ V because they like Civ IV better. Some complaints against Civ V are valid and I have agreed with some of them, but Civ V on it's own is a fun game, and has become a solid game after some early patching.
Some of the early bitching was Civ V only allowing a single unit on a given space, where as in Civ IV, you can create Death Stacks of dozens of units as a single group, and just sit there throwing stack after stack of hundreds of units on a single city or army. In Civ V, you have to actually fucking plan, coordinate and use logic when attacking cities and stuff, being able to only use so many units when attacking.
Oh yeah, also, is anyone interested in this:

I really have no interest in it but I bought the 2k Strategy Super Pack:

And it came with it.
Whoever wants it, just PM me and I'll send you the steam code for it as well as for Civ IV since I doubt I'll ever play it with Civ V and all.
Are the other strongholds any good? I know the new one is terrible as I have that one, but what about the others? I have read the old ones are pretty good.
New flash sale is up. Even though I have it on 360, I guess I'll get Bastion for PC too at $3.75.
Having a weird overheating issue all of a sudden. It appears one of my case fans has died, so that could be the issue, but it's hard for me to imagine that a single case fan could be the issue. CPU has overheated all of a sudden twice in two days, specifically when I am doing MULTIPLE things at once (like download stuff on Steam, listening to music/podcasts, and playing a game at the same time). Has me worried. :( Guess it's time to grab a box fan or something and point it at the PC again until I can get around to buying a case fan again.
Too much overclocking ;)

That's what's sad, I haven't overclocked it at all. I'm doing some testing now to see what exactly is causing it as it appears to only be NBA 2k13 at the moment (that game is so atrociously programmed for the PC, it's just unspeakable). Time to do some tests with Civ V to see if it does the same thing.
Bastion was 75% off earlier in the sale, too. Dungeon Defenders is 75% off now. I'm unsure about that one.
Well I have put about 250 hours total into The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. For $5 more to get the GotY version, why not add a little more ;)
If anybody wants Gods & Kings for Civ 5, Green Man Gaming!
G&Ks is 85% off today, at $4.49. Add in a 30% promo code and the price drops to $3.15.
Crusader Kings II is 75% off at GMG, listed at $9.99. Use the 30% promo code drops it to $7.
30% Promo Code is: GMG30-DPLIM-DN831
I've been waiting to get Gods & Kings, since it was usually still high priced on Steam, or I'd miss it when it was on sale, so I'm snagging it up on GMG for $3.15. It's all steam activation.
Any thoughts on Mount & Blade? Looks kinda interesting.
Witcher 2 for $7.50 is tempting too...
Witcher 2 is worth every penny. It's amazing and one of the best looking games you'll play.
I'd be able to keep all my Steam games on something like this and still launch them with no trouble, right?
Can you with USB 3.0? I didn't think you could run games off a portable.

You should be able to. I do. I have all my Steam stuff, games and main Steam program on my 2 TB external hard drive and run everything via USB 2.0.
That's exactly what I want to do. I would just install a new internal drive, but I know I'll be getting a new laptop within the next 2 years and rather than downloading everything all over again, I'd rather just plug the external in and have it ready to go. I just wanted to make sure that A. it was possible and B. there was no noticeable performance decreases when running a game off of an external drive compared to internal.
Is DOTA 2 any fun?
It's F2P, JB. Why they keep putting it on "sale" is beyond me.
That shit blew my mind like last week with this game. It was on sale another day and I clicked it to see the reviews and it said I owned it. I was like maybe I bought a bundle and it came with it, thats when I stepped back and said alright no more "fuck it its cheap" bundle buys for me.
When I googled it that when I saw it was F2P, made me feel somewhat better.
