Nope. Most likely got a nice severance package in exchange for a NDA and agreement to Microsoft's very own witness protection program. Mr. Orth is now Mr. Jones living in one of those cities he claimed he would never live in.

Well, that confirms next Xbox first for me more than likely. I have wanted to play Ryse ever since I first laid eyes on it, and I'm really glad they're still doing it...it was originally supposed to come out on 360 and since it hasn't been talked about in 2 years, I assumed it had been canned. On top of that, Forza is my favorite racing series, even more so than Gran Turismo(never thought I'd say that a few years ago).Quote:
Microsoft is working on a number of launch titles for its new Xbox console. One of the first games to launch on the next Xbox will be Ryse, according to multiple sources familiar with Microsoft's Xbox plans. Microsoft originally unveiled Ryse at E3 2011, promising an exclusive Xbox 360 release with Kinect functionality. A release has never materialized for Xbox 360 and the company has remained fairly silent about the title's progress, noting that it was still in development in mid-2012 and again earlier this year. The Verge understands that Crytek, along with Microsoft Studios, has been rewriting the game to take advantage of its next-generation console, due later this year.
We're told Ryse is designed to be Microsoft's new Gears of War / Halo mega launch title. It's set in the Roman Empire period and uses deep Kinect integration to allow players to slash and kick at enemies. We understand that Ryse will take advantage of the new body tracking improvements in the next Kinect sensor. Ryse is part of four major launch titles for the next-generation Xbox. Sources tell us that a new Forza title with "super life-like" graphics will also be made available at launch, alongside a zombie game and a family game set on an island with Pixar movie-style graphics. We're told that the family game will utilize Kinect to scan a body and generate a virtual character in the game.
We understand that these four titles are a small selection of the launch titles for the next-generation Xbox. Third-party support is said to be strong in the first-person-shooter genre. Microsoft is also working on some improvements to Xbox Live, including a switch to currency over the Microsoft Points system. Microsoft is expected to hold a special Xbox event in May, ahead of a full unveiling at E3 in June.
I wonder what the zombie game is.
You might be right, I totally forgot it was eventually involving into an online game. I don't think State of Decay is going to be next gen. As far as I know, they were getting close to entering certification a few weeks ago, so that leads me to believe it's only a month or two away from release.
I guess my inner Left 4 Dead fanboy is hoping for L4D3, but I sincerely doubt that's a possibility.
Their offering at E3 2012 was horrible. So horrible they are not even going to be at this years E3. I am starting to think Gabe enjoys talking about games more than actually making them these days. Plus he probably enjoys counting all the money made off of Steam and Dota 2.
A new Forza title already dang. it is gonna one long wait for the next xbox. Promising library of games so far coming out. It is too bad NCAA or Madden won't hit it until next summer.

Source: Next Xbox Reveal Set For May 21
Game Informer has just received word that Microsoft is about to send out invitations for an unveiling event for the next Xbox. According to our source, who has asked for anonymity, the proceedings will take place on May 21 in Redmond, Washington.
While the presentation will be held in an intimate setting, it will be streamed live on Xbox.com, Xbox Live, and Spike TV in the US and Canada. Invitations to the press and publishing partners are expected to go out shortly. Game Informer has reached out to Microsoft for comment.
MY BODY IS READY!
Give me a new Gears, Halo, or Alan Wake while you're at it, Microsoft. Please.
It will go something like...
Celebs carrying around Xbox gift bags.
Kinect 2.0.
Celebs carrying around Xbox gift bags.
Kinect 2.0.
Video montage of some games including an unveiling of an EA game.
Specs and features detailed.
Celebs carrying around Xbox gift bags.
Did we mention Kinect 2.0?
Long rant about how the Next Box will do everything and Social media, blah blah blah. Xbox Live detail for the upcoming system.
Celebs with Xbox Gift bags leaving to go score some coke, paid for by the swag in the Xbox Gift Bag.
You forgot XBOX TV :D
Doubt it. I realize if you read around the internet with the doom and gloom articles, it's easy to think that, but Microsoft has way too many studios that have been way too quiet for way too long. Alan Wake is almost certainly in development. Gears of War Judgment was mostly handled by People Can Fly instead of Epic, and with Epic's love affair with Microsoft, it's almost guaranteed they're either working on a real Gears or something else that will be exclusive to Microsoft. Halo 5 is most definitely in development and probably has been for well over a year. Forza will be getting a new entry in the series. Ryse will almost definitely be revealed. Black Tusk Studios was created a year or two ago and has been tasked with creating "the next blockbuster" and it's a Microsoft owned studio. There's also rumors of a new Fable game, possibly a MMO.
There's several others that have been mentioned, too. Whether or not any of those are actually revealed at the announcement event is anybody's guess, but they definitely have plenty of exclusive titles in the works. When you consider that Sony really didn't set the bar that high(they revealed 3 exclusives by my count, 2 of which being sequels to series that have performed under their expectations sales wise), Microsoft doesn't really HAVE to go crazy and reveal a high number of games to have a successful conference.
Reveal Halo or Gears, show what Black Tusk Studios is working on, reveal Alan Wake 2, show off Ryse, and then go in depth about the improvements to Live, graphical capabilities, UI, show the console, give a reasonable price, and you'd have a lot of happy people willing to shell out money on launch day.
Crossing my fingers MS is DUMB enough to not even mention games. IF they go that route they are going to get CRUSHED unless they do something absolutely INSANE - like give me 5000 live cable channels for free while making my own microbrew.
It would be funny if any console maker did that, but it's unrealistic to expect that. :D
Yeah. I do expect them to bring up their big exclusives. However, my hunch is Sony is focused 75%+ on gaming where MS MIGHT actually be 50/50 now or even less than 50% focused on games with the 720.
You seriously need to get it out of your head that everything I post is serious. I swear I need a signature that reads..... the views expressed in this post do not necessarily reflect the views of its author.
...and besides, let's be realistic here. Microsoft could literally not reveal any games, have a higher priced console than Sony, and have the ridiculous no used games and required online access to play games. As long as they secure the timed exclusive DLC for Call of Duty and have the Xbox logo beamed at the end of the Call of Duty commercials, Microsoft wins North America. It's really as simple as that for them.
But, for the record, I'm expecting them to announce at least 2 of those games I mentioned earlier. Like I said, there's just way too studios under Microsoft control that have been quiet for too long for there not to be a few exclusives announced during the reveal.
My bad man. It just came across to me like you were seriously hoping for them to fuck up in some way. It just seemed like some of your posts in recent weeks have been almost like you wanted MS to blow it. I know there are some out there who do want that to happen, all the console war douchetards who want every console but their preferred console to fail, which I don't understand.
People bitch all the time about EA having exclusivity in college and pro football games, well, it would be the same thing in the consoles if one failed, MS or Sony would have free reign. Right now the market can support 2 consoles (3 if you include the Wii), so in this case, having Sony and MS going head to head is good for everyone since it keeps them pushing things to try and reel in more buyers. If Sony or MS take over sole possession of the console market, why would they need to keep pushing the envelope, at a potential loss to themselves, when there's no one else in the market to do anything about it?
So my bad. A misreading and misunderstanding on my part.
Didn't Major Nelson say this event is for the system and E3 almost 3 weeks later would be about the games?
Just a thought but when you are not being serious give this a try.
Spoiler: show
Honestly, you make it very difficult to detect when you are trying to be sarcastic.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaand... Douchebag Celebs galore!

Game Source and Information Ryse An anonymous source suggests that Ryse (the first-person Roman combat game first revealed in 2010) has been "re-worked into a next-generation game designed to be Microsoft's new Gears of War / Halo mega launch title.” The game is said to “take advantage of the new body tracking improvements in the next Kinect sensor.” [1] Forza Motorsport 5 An anonymous source suggests that a new entry in the Forza series with "super life-like graphics" will be a launch title on the next Xbox. [2] Job listings also suggested in 2012 that a next-gen version was in the works. [3] Halo 5 Before the release of Halo 4, 343 Industries confirmed that it was the first part of a new Halo trilogy. [4] In 2012, 343 job listings were posted “to help create the current and next generation of game visuals in the Halo universe.” [5] Destiny Destiny is confirmed for "the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, as well as other future console platforms", which presumably means the next Xbox and PlayStation 4.[6] Call of Duty: Ghosts Developer Infinity Ward posted a job listing on its site calling for a senior animator with "interest in working with next-generation technologies." [7] The game is rumored to be called Ghosts. [8] Dragon Age III: Inquisition Despite being announced by BioWare for a release in 2013, the resume of an EA Shanghai level designer suggested that the "scope" of the game has changed and that it "will be postponed to 2014" and "target next gen platforms." [9] The Evil Within The newest game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami was announced by Bethesda for a 2014 release on "next-generation consoles," [10] Next-Gen Family Game An anonymous source suggested that the next Xbox will launch with “a family game set on an island with Pixar movie-style graphics” that “will utilize Kinect to scan a body and generate a virtual character in the game.”[11] Thief Square-Enix's reboot of Thief was announced for PlayStation 4 "and other next-gen platforms" for release in 2014. [12] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Witcher 3 was officially announced by CD Projekt RED for release in 2014 and is set to target "all top of the line consoles and PC." It was advertised as "a next generation RPG." [13] Next-Gen Zombie Game An anonymous source suggested that the next Xbox will launch with "a zombie game," which has caused some to speculate that it could be Dead Rising 3. [14] Rainbow 6: Patriots Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said Rainbow 6: Patriots is still in development and "there's a good chance it can be” pushed to next-generation consoles. [15] Mafia III Rumors suggest that Mafia III is in development at 2K Czech and was delayed in order to shift to next-generation consoles. [16] Doom 4 Bethesda confirmed that an early version of Doom 4 "did not exhibit the quality and excitement that Id and Bethesda intend to deliver and that Doom fans worldwide expect" and was canceled in favor of a new one. Rumors suggest that the game is targeting next-generation consoles and that a planned sequel to Rage was canceled in order to add more members to the Doom 4 development team. [17] Watch Dogs While the game has been confirmed for PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U and 360, leaked marketing materials say it's coming this holiday to "all home consoles." This would imply the next Xbox. [18] Ready at Dawn Next-Gen Game The developers of the God of War PSP games are developing "an exciting new AAA IP for a Next-Generation home console game system." [19] Next-Gen Sonic Game Sega notes that Sonic "won't become photo-real" in next-gen games and that he "will always remain stylized and will have that bright, colorful world. What the high hardware spec will allow us to do is make that more convincing." [20] Square-Enix "Luminous" Games Square-Enix is showing off its "Luminous" tech engine, capable of highly realistic next-gen graphics. Luminous will make games 30% cheaper and shorten development cycles. [21] Crytek Next-Gen Game Perhaps Homefront 2 or TimeSplitters 4? Crytek was the company that originally outed the Xbox 720's Durango codename.[22] Lionhead Studios Next-Gen Game The studio (sans Molyneux) has been on the lookout for programmers with experience using the Unreal Engine, and "significant experience leading teams designing and implementing modern rendering engine." Example given is DirectX11, which is rumored to be compatible with the Xbox 360's successor. [23] Remedy 'Future-Gen' Game Alan Wake developer Remedy posted on its community forums that it is hiring more than 20 people for work on a game for "future generation consoles." [24]
I don't think that's what Major said. He said we'll be getting a taste of the new generation, which to me, means all the details about the hardware itself, and then a few games. It would be incredibly stupid on their part not to show off at least a few of their games. Then we'll get the rest of the them and more details about the hardware during E3.
Exactly what I was saying. People on the internet have been complaining the last 2 or 3 years about "no games" and they've all jumped to that conclusion that Microsoft is going to continue that trend. It doesn't take a genius to realize that virtually all of their major studios haven't been releasing much because they've been working on next gen stuff.
I don't know why Ready at Dawn is on that list. I'm pretty sure they're a Sony owned developer.

Microsoft on Wednesday confirmed that the next Xbox video game console, code-named Durango, will be revealed to the public during a special event at its Redmond campus on May 21. That event will kick off a multi-event unveiling that will continue through June and culminate with the release of the device, which is expected in early November.
On March 28, I exclusively revealed via Twitter that Microsoft had changed the original reveal date for the next Xbox from April 24 to May 21. So yesterday’s confirmation is interesting for two reasons, the least obvious of which is that the news came on April 24—the original date that the firm intended to reveal the next Xbox.
Related: "Microsoft Touts Xbox Momentum and Future"
Here’s what I know about the next Xbox (along with some clearly identified conjecture).
Early announce. The initial reveal date was pushed back from April 24 to May 21 so that Microsoft could better position the device against the PlayStation 4, which Sony announced in late February.
Full (end user) announce. Microsoft will fully reveal details about the next Xbox, including the launch lineup of games, on the eve of the E3 tradeshow in early June 2013.
Developer announce? It appears that Microsoft will discuss the next Xbox developer platform at the Build conference in San Francisco in late June, based on clues on the Build website.
Launch. The next Xbox will launch in early November 2013.
Windows 8 Core. The next Xbox is based on the "Core" (base) version of Windows 8. This suggests a common apps platform or at least one that is similar to that used by Windows 8. It also suggests that Microsoft could open up this platform to enthusiast developers. (That last bit is supposition on my part.)
Price. Microsoft will initially offer two pricing models for the console: a standalone version for $499 and a $299 version that requires a two-year Xbox LIVE Gold commitment at an expected price of $10 per month.
No entertainment box. Microsoft originally planned to offer both a “full” version of the next Xbox (with video game playing capabilities) and a lower-end entertainment-oriented version, code-named “Yuma,” that didn't provide gaming capabilities. But plans for Yuma are on hold, and no pure entertainment version of the next Xbox will appear in 2013 (or possibly ever).
Blu-ray. The next Xbox will include a Blu-ray optical drive.
Internet-connected. The next Xbox must be Internet-connected to use. This is the source of the “always on”/“always online” rumors and isn’t as Draconian as many seem to believe.
Another Xbox 360. Microsoft will also deliver a third-generation Xbox 360 console this year that will be significantly less expensive than the current models. The new Xbox 360 is code-named “Stingray,” but it’s not clear whether this device is required because the next Xbox isn’t backward-compatible or because Microsoft simply wants a low-cost entertainment box alternative. (A third possibility—and to be clear, these possible reasons are all speculative—is that the Xbox 360 simply has life left in it and with dwindling component prices in the 8 years since the original launch, the firm can still make money selling such a device.)
There’s a lot I don’t know, of course. The name is a big area of speculation, and while I’ve heard nothing official, I’d be surprised if Microsoft didn’t just called it Xbox. I’ve never seen the console, nor have any idea what it might look like. And in addition to the aforementioned confusion over backward compatibility and the apps platform, there are questions surrounding Kinect (which I understand is integrated and non-optional) and of course the fabled (and possibly imaginary) Xbox Surface tablet. We’ll have to wait and see what Microsoft announces—or what it leaks—to find out more.
On that note, Microsoft’s May event will be broadcast live via Xbox.com, over Xbox LIVE, and on Spike TV if you're in the United States or Canada.
$500?! Holy shit, that thing better wash my clothes and do my do my dishes for that much. I realize I paid $600 at launch for a PS3, but I was young and dumb back then. I don't know if I can justify that big of a price tag on something that I really don't think will be all that major of an upgrade, especially since I have a fairly new gaming PC sitting here.
All the rumors I've said pointed to the Next Xbox and PS4 being similar in price, but I don't know if Sony can afford to have a console that doesn't sell well right off the bat, and I certainly don't think there will be massive demand if it's priced at $500. I guess time will tell.
Hmm, that's interesting that you said that. Assuming Live stays the same(which I'm sure it will), it'll cost $60 a year. Without tax, the $500 model would cost $620 over 2 years while the contract option would cost $540 over 2 years. That literally makes...no sense. My Live runs out in November, coincidentally, so if that is actually the plan they are going to use, I'll just get the contract console if I decide to get one.
god dam 500$ ouch I hope that better chance in half or something geez Micrs$oft gets gutsy
Honestly, not surprised. I've been expecting MS and Sony to both be around $450-$500.
Roughly what I was expecting. Just hoping from a drop by the time I decide to jump on board.
Yep, I'm not jumping to next-gen until at least 2015. So by then, any fuck-ups in the launch consoles while already be sorted out and the new and improved later versions will be out. And the price will hopefully at least be a little bit cheaper by then. But with my assumption correct that the consoles would be priced in the $450-$500 range, that, for now, kills any plans to get both 720 and PS4. Looks like I'll be sticking 100% Xbox for the time being when it comes to next-gen. I can't justify spending $1,000 on two consoles. I wouldn't even play both enough to justify the cost. I'd end up probably playing one more than the other, so that second console would just become a part-time $500 paperweight.
Yep, I'll still be just fine rolling with my 360. I never upgraded to current-gen until 2009, I did just fine keeping with PS2 and Xbox for most of last decade, I'll be fine continuing with 360 for a couple more years, especially since I just got a Slim a year ago to replace my 360 Elite that had a failing disc drive.
if it doesnt have the problems that the 360 had when it first launched with the massive amounts of rrod, i'd be fine with spending that much on a console that last 5-10 years. my current 360 has lasted 8 years now, but i had it repaired once back in 07? due to rrod.
I have quite a few games on both sides to play through on the current generation, I really doubt Microsoft blows me away with anything that I need to get it in the first year even. Plus I've decided that I'm getting PS4 on day one or as soon as I can without having to camp out.
The next Xbox rethinks DRM, Achievements and Xbox Live friends, our sources say

Also, video capture like the PS4.
