It will be a box and it will most likely have blue ray. There you go.

Y'All are funny .. I know that was a dumb idiot questions. I dunno what I was thinking.

Still rumor but if true PS4 is looking much better for me.
Speaking to Kotaku, an unspecified source stated, "If the connection is interrupted then after a period of time -- currently three minutes, if I remember correctly -- the game/app is suspended and the network troubleshooter started."
Damn you xbox , damn you I say. This whole Wifi to play will be stupid. So going in the wrong direction .

Microsoft Studios' creative director has some choice words about always-online
http://i5.minus.com/jF1Mjq5MZmVHd.png
More at the link. Not looking good Microsoft.
2 possibilities here:
#1 - MS sent out this Orth guy as a trial balloon to see how fierce the blowback would be for a DRM console before making a "final" decision about whether to include it in the 720 or not
#2 - This Orth guy is a MORON and if I were MS he wouldn't be at the office after today
lmfao this shizzle has blown up twitter and the youtubes:

A. That guy who made those comments is a fucking idiot. I don't care who you are, you don't belittle your customers and tell them to basically "fuck off" if they don't like your system.
B. There is NO way that Microsoft goes online only and no used games alone. If they do, you can bet your ass Sony will be following in their footsteps. They might not follow in the online required aspect, but they'll be the first ones to follow Microsoft with the no used games. Let's not forget who has been the biggest supporter and user of the online pass, this generation's version of trying to eliminate used games. Let's also not forget that they have a patent that eliminates used games, so I truly believe that if one of them does it, the other will follow.
I personally don't care about either issue. I'm getting both regardless. If you believed the idiots on N4G, you'd think the next Xbox is already doomed, but of course, they're all raging Sony loyalists. I truly don't get this whole "brand allegiance." It's extremely weird.
A - agree 100% the absolute WORST way to "sell" this idea
B - Disagree 100% this could be the "issue" that DEFINES the next-gen console "war". Clearly that is the "trend" but Sony could easily say let MS be the 1st one to try it and win this generation's console war and then next time (in 7-10 years when the PS5 comes out) do the DRM in a much more tactful way than MS has done.
Because people are fucktards who feel every single thing between two products has to be a war and you must choose one or the other. I'll play the system that does what I want/need it to do and the system where the majority of my friends are so I can play multiplayer in games with them. Be it Xbox or PS4, I don't give a fuck. I've never understood these fucktards who treat Microsoft-Sony like Allies-Nazis. It's a goddamn console. Choose the one that works best for you (or get BOTH!) and be happy and then shut the fuck up about all the stupid "this one is the best", "no that one is the best" bullshit.
Agree with all you of. People need to find the best system for their needs not the rest of the world. I ended up with both 360 and ps3 since I enjoy all games on each side. The next generation system purchase for me will be different. I will go xbox first and stay with it for a while. All my friends are on xbox so that settles that for me. I may end up with a ps4 down the road after a big price drop or sale. But I still hate this damn thought of having to be connected 24/7 to play games.
Yep, I don't know why that is so hard for people. I owned by a PS2 and an original Xbox last-gen, and played both a lot, splitting time between each. This generation, I got a 360 because that was where all my friends are and because it has the exclusives that I like (Halo for instance). The only true exclusive on the PS3 that I would be interested in would be MLB: The Show. So 360 was my console of choice and while considering getting a PS4 at one point, I never got around to doing so. Next-gen, I'll probably go Xbox first again just because of it being where all my friends are and Halo being an exclusive to it. And then a year or two after that, consider getting a PS4. Now if only the rest of the idiots in the world would give the fanboy shit a rest and just go with the console they prefer and be done with the bitching or fighting over consoles.
If one of them decides to do away with used games, the other one wont have a choice. People get their panties in a bunch because they only think about themselves, hence all these "if Microsoft doesn't support used games then they will fail" articles. The publisher for games does not see a single penny from used games sales. Not one. They make all their money off a certain game on new copies sold. They couldn't give 2 shits if people didn't buy a certain console because it didn't support used games because they were never technically their customer in the first place.
What I believe would happen if say Microsoft didn't allow used games and Sony did is that you would see pressure from publishers for Sony to do the same, so that every copy sold is some more money in their pockets. Who's to say that if they refused, publishers would drop support completely? Sony or Microsoft aren't a damn thing without publishers putting all the games on their respective systems.
Let me also remind you that Sony has not come right out and said "we will support used games." I realize there was a quote during an interview after the reveal, but I don't put much weight into a high up member of Sony having to ask his adviser what their stance was.
It's not like Sony's against it. Virtually every single one of their first party games has that stupid online pass, something EA doesn't even always do. That's saying something.
But, I digress. I don't think either one of them will actually ban used games...yet. I'd almost guarantee this is the last generation of physical media, so I don't see why everyone is bitching about used games when it's only a matter of time before everything is digital and used games are gone anyway.
And yeah, Smooth, I agree completely. I don't have some weird brand loyalty. I do play more on my 360, but I sure as hell don't talk shit to my PS3 while I'm doing so. Hell, I don't even think about it. I pick the game and play it for whatever system I have it for.
I usually enjoy reading other people's input on certain stories, and if it involves the Xbox or PS, I might as well not even bother, because it's the same old thing. I mean if you want to lose hope in humanity's future, go read some articles on N4G about the next Xbox or PS and look at the user's comments. It's a very, very, VERY pro PS site, so you literally get a bunch of weirdos praising everything Sony does and bitching and complaining about Microsoft. I have to laugh in a way considering Microsoft hasn't even revealed the thing and they're just basing their opinions off of rumors, but still...it's really annoying. I guess I just don't understand it.

Developers close to Microsoft have claimed the next-gen console’s hardware is currently being tweaked, as hardware boffins work to “align” the new home machine with the power offered by Sony’s recently revealed PlayStation4.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat said the new home Xbox will be “aligned with what Sony announced” in terms of hardware power, also adding: “It’s going to be connected. It’s going to be social. It’s going to be immersive. It’s going to be interactive.”
Meanwhile, Kotaku, the US aggregator of anything games related or from or even near Japan, says its sources claim the next-generation Xbox controller is virtually unchanged from the Xbox 360 device, perhaps only offering refined curves and a slightly smaller footprint. No sign of any second screen or touchpad on this one.
I guess you can file this under "duh." I kind of figured that since this gen was so close tech wise, the upcoming gen will be the same. Kudos to MS for keeping the controller virtually the same. I love it's design(p.s. fix the d-pad).

It's just that it's already been killed. Like all those pictures that CLW posted in the meme thread. The first two or three were funny, then it just got stupid and by the end of the how the hell ever many pictures that were in that post, it was beyond stupid and overkilled now. It's been killed, beaten and charred to a crisp in the less than a day or however long it's been since it first happened on Twitter. It's just dumb as hell and unfunny now.
Your still dumb as crap Microsoft for doing this! At least allow games to be played offline for crisis shack. So freaking dumb!

Rumors of the next Xbox's use of an AMD-based chipset have been circulating for months, and now Bloomberg is lending further credence to the claim. According to the news organization's anonymous sources, the system will utilize a chip based on AMD's Jaguar APU architecture. The article also claims that, because of the move away from Power PC technology to an x86 system, current Xbox 360 discs won't work with Microsoft's next console. This puts the possibility of hardware-based backwards compatibility in jeopardy.
While the report offers no additional details on the specifics of the hardware, it falls in line with purported specs leaked earlier this year, which claimed the system would utilize a 1.6GHz 8-core AMD CPU. If true, the next Xbox would be comparable to the PlayStation 4, which Sony has confirmed will use an 8-core AMD processor based on the same Jaguar architecture. Whether or not Microsoft's silicon will outpace the PS4 in terms of clocking speed or number of cores, however, remains unknown.
The news follows reports earlier today that Microsoft is planning to reveal its next console at an event on May 21st.
Unsurprisingly, that basically confirms these 2 systems are going to be able to perform virtually identically. Maybe now all those "Xbox is doomed" articles will finally stop.
Since I'll be getting both systems, I'm really pleased with that. The days of garbage ports should finally be over. With both systems using extremely similar architecture, they should look and perform equally well. Of course, that falls squarely on Sony for wisely deciding to drop the Cell.

Microsoft is working hard in its new strategy for the next years. The company wants to expand its Xbox brand with two new Xbox. One would be next-gen, the other one would be a new redesign for Xbox 360. Take in mind the Wii Mini, MS would like to offer something similar to Nintendo. This cheap model would be focused as a set top box product, although you will be able to load games too, but the games should be load directly from the HDD. This Xbox wouldn’t have disc drive.
We have received new information about the latest Xbox Roadmap. Our source unveils new details for Durango, Xbox mini and the Microsoft strategy; moreover we don’t forget Kinect 2.0.
Update: We are going to update our previous information. We would like to clarify the Xbox Mini function for avoiding any misunderstood about the new machine.
Xbox Mini
The “Xbox Mini” is not a 360 add-on, it is a stand alone product that contains Xbox 360 functions for gaming, and alone it is meant to compete with Apple TV. Since it is likely it will not have a disc drive, it is being designed with “always online” in mind, and with internet being required for Live functions. Xbox 360 Games can be played on it by purchasing Games on Demand on Xbox Live (for new purchases) or if already purchased, simply download it. This also applies to music and movies. To further clarify, the Durango will also have these (TV) functions, just with next-genration gaming hardware instead of Xbox 360 at a higher price.
When used with Durango, it offers connectivity with it for backwards compatibility with both disc based and On Demand games, and it’s no more different than what Sony will be doing with Gaikai for playing PS3 games on PS4, only with Xbox it will be done locally and not through the cloud. You can control the Xbox Mini under a single interface and not have to worry about switching between devices in a single display input.
These connectivity functions cannot work with existing Xbox 360 units due to the difference in external interface. The Xbox Mini was designed for this along side Durango.
Microsoft expands its Xbox brand
Getting to the point there are going to be two console as part of the redesigned “Xbox Line” of products. A repackaged and reoriented Xbox 360 unit and the new “Durango” gaming console, both designed to compete with more than Sony in gaming, but against Apple as well.
When the Durango (game machine) launches, it will not support backwards compatibility for 360 games out of the box. Instead, this functionality will come from the other unit that will be networked with the Durango to provide this (not unlike the DVD add-on for the original Xbox).
The purpose of the smaller Xbox unit is to compete with Apple TV, but also provides XBLA and 360 game support which will give it an edge over Apple TV. The rumors of “always online required” comes from the smaller Xbox unit which may not have a disc drive and like Apple TV it would require a network connection and internet to provide any real functionality. It may be possible they will design both consoles to be stackable.
Durango itself will also always be online like any other device (correct with rumors), but it will not be a requirement to play local content and it will not prevent playing used games. Putting in an Xbox 360 disc into Durango will prompt the user to attach the supporting device that is sold separately. By separating the two devices and their functions it will ensure price competitiveness for both pieces of hardware. Microsoft’s delay in announcing these products from April goes more inline with not having a physical set of devices to show (among specification updates), which should be ready by May or June when this information is officially released.
The price goal of the smaller Xbox is $149 or lower and it is likely to not have a disc drive and would require a network connection. Durango will be priced competitively according to PS4′s price.
Kinect 2.0
A different department within Xbox handles Kinect hardware and software. The focus was more on developing and networking both consoles with Kinect more of an after thought at that point, considering dealing with it would be less of an issue even with hardware changes to the main console hardware. Kinect isn’t the primary focus.
The development kits required several pieces of hardware as to combine all “potential” hardware which may or may not be required to work with each other, which also includes the potential for any or all devices to required a network connection, which is where most of the “required” rumors are coming from.
Sounds good to me. Bring me Gears, Halo, or a new Alan Wake and you'll get my money.
Yeah, I didn't read anything in there that would keep me from buying it. Looks like Xbox solidified itself as my main purchase of the next-gen consoles, with consideration to PS4 sometime down the road after that.
And I'll be fine with just the Durango console as it's not like I'm going to just throw my one and a half year old 360 Slim in the trash just because a new console is coming out. So I'll just keep using my 360S for 360 and Arcade games. Just will need to make room for the new console next to it.
Same here I will be only getting the gaming console it self no need for a little xbox. I just want it to be November already ha. I'm ready for a new system to rise up.

And waiting a while until price comes down and/or issues are sorted out. Not sure I need to rush out for a Durango as I don't need to be the first to play a certain game. Maybe when the next-gen NCAA comes out.....
Yeah, I'm not planning on buying an next-gen console, of either brand, until end of 2014 or sometime in 2015 at the earliest. Companies will keep supporting the 360 like they did with the original Xbox and PS2, so I'll still be able to get all the games I want to purchase.
Until then, I'll be waiting until either a new Halo comes out or until NCAA comes out on the next-gen console and it is clearly superior to the current product that we have right now on 360/PS3 and it plays great. If that NCAA comes out on the new consoles, then I would consider moving up my purchasing time-frame.

LMAO why would I want to have my gaming console help me with my cable package? It's a simple button press on my remote to change from one source to another.
If they implement voice and motion controls with Kinect and they price it right, it will sell like hotcakes. That's what I always tell everyone when they say Microsoft isn't focusing on gaming anymore. They're not. They have realized that they can make just as much of a profit going after entertainment apps and subscription services, and when you combine that with gaming capabilities, you have a very well rounded console that they can market to virtually anyone.
But like I said, they need to price it right. If they charge $500 for it, I just don't see them being able to rake in those people who just want it as a companion device for their TV experience.
Not surprising.Quote:
Game Informer has learned from sources close to the matter that Orth is no longer with Microsoft. A call to Microsoft's main switchboard confirmed this fact. Our sources, who wish to remain anonymous, suggest that Orth resigned in the wake of last week's events. We haven't been able to confirm whether this was a voluntary or forced resignation.
