Dude, you might as well just get on 3TB for now. By the time you need it, another one will probably be much cheaper.

Yeah, that is true. Of course, I could always use a 3TB drive for my laptop. The two drives I have now, a 500GB that is almost completely full and a 2TB drive that is I think over half full, since I have most if not all of my PC and Steam games installed on it.
Either way, I'm gonna keep that USB hub thought in mind. Unfortunately, I can't test it as the hub I have right now is only a USB 2.0 hub. I'd have to buy a new USB 3.0 hub sometime down the road to test it (if no one else has tested it first by that point).
Best rated one on Amazon....

Nice. I'll have to look into that.

I have a 2.0 one of the same brand from Amazon for my laptop and it's good.
Also from Joystiq:
On external storage support, Microsoft says Xbox One owners can choose which of their drives, including the internal 500GB drive, is the default location for new game installs and so on. Microsoft also notes players can install games to an external drive, plug that drive to another Xbox One, and sign in or insert a disc to start playing there.
The idea that you can easily take it to a friends house is definitely killer. Assuming no slowdown from reading from the USB 3.0, that's how I would prefer the PS4 handle it.
From what I gather USB 3.0 is the same as a SATA drive in terms of speed.
I'll probably never use that feature, but that is definitely neat. Bring a bunch of games with you? Nope, just brought this little mini hard drive that has my entire catalog of games and need only sign in to access them all from any Xbox One. Awesome.
I'm probably going to get a 1TB drive to start off with. I really have a hard time seeing myself having that many games installed at once, especially with how quickly I go through some of them. If need be, I could always upgrade later and have a second drive, although that seems a bit redundant. I don't need to right NOW, so I'll just wait for a really good sale. If I get filled up, I'll just start buying games on my PS4. :D
For me it's like $80 for 1TB or $100 for 3TB at the time, so I went with 3.

Just some clarification from earlier in regards to external drives. Saw this while I was checking out Major Nelson's site.
So in that case, 3TB will definitely be the minimum size drive I'll consider buying. 1 or 2TB might work for a lot of people, but if you buy a lot of games every year, you'll probably run out of room on a 1 or 2TB drive within 1-2 years. I've had my One since it released in November and I only have around 50-70GB of free space left from the 500GB internal drive that came with it.FAQ: Xbox One external storage will support up to two USB 3.0 drives. Still early into it but liking it so far. Plays almost the opposite of the old games, outside it being a FPS. Only complaint is having to click to pick up ammo. I really hate that. Health and Shield packs I can understand but you do have to pick them up often (at least I do) and special items, I got no problem with. Ammo? :bang:
It also appears the patch, which has yet to be released is optional.
When is the external drive coming , in the next patch I assume?
That's old news. Carry on. :D

External Storage FAQ
Q: What can I install on my external storage device?
A: You can install games, downloadable content, and apps on your storage device.
Q: Can I store game saves on the external storage device?
A: No. Game saves are automatically stored in the cloud and synced to the Xbox One console.
Q: Can I use the external storage device for music and video playback?
A: No. For the initial release of the external storage feature, media files, including music and videos, are not supported. We are considering this for a future release.
Q: Can I copy or move a game from my internal hard drive to my external storage device?
A: Yes. Check out the content management features by going the Manage page for the game or app.
Q: Can I use my external storage device with my PC as well as my Xbox One?
A: No. The external storage device will be formatted for use by the Xbox One console only. PCs won’t recognize the drive partition created by the Xbox One.
Q: Can I re-format my storage device from my Xbox One console?
A: If you'd like to remove all content from your storage device and start over, you can re-format your storage device on the Xbox One. To do this, go to Settings>System>Manage Storage, choose the external drive you want to format, and select Format. After this is done, the Xbox One will treat it as a brand new drive.
◾Note: Formatting causes the storage device to wipe all data.
Q: Do I need to bring my game disc while roaming with my storage device?
A: Yes. The external storage device does not change the licensing for games, so if the game was installed from a disc, the disc is required to play the game.
So I plug a current external hard drive will it reformat the whole to use media files to play on Xbox video or no?
Reading is your friend.

Good to know video storage will be considered. Sucks you can't combine PC and XB1 storage, but at least I can use the full HDD on the system.
