really kind of pointless and non directional

Well, Boise football gets a slap on the wrist. Boise tennis (and more specifically the coach) gets a kick in the rear. Otherwise, the punishment really makes no sense.
My personal favorite part of the official penalties list: "Public reprimand and censure." :smh: Wtf.
Hello to the Pac-16?

CLAREMORE, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma officials are scheduled to discuss its Big 12 affiliation on Monday.
The school's board of regents has posted the agenda for Monday's meeting. It's a single paragraph that says the board will consider switching conference affiliation, and any legal ramifications of such a move.
The agenda says the regents may discuss the topic behind closed doors and "take any appropriate action."
University president David Boren said earlier this month that Oklahoma had been in contact with multiple conferences and expected a decision within a three-week timeframe that would run out next week.
The Big 12 lost Nebraska (Big Ten) and Colorado (Pac-12) in July, leaving it with 10 members.
As an OU fan I wish they would stay in the Big 12 but doesn't look like that's going to happen. Schools are pissed off by the longhorn network. I DO NOT want to lose the OU/Texas game. That'll suck.

Odds are you wouldn't have to worry about it. If Oklahoma goes to the Pac-12, Oklahoma State is automatically going with them, and odds are easily more than likely that Texas and Texas Tech will be going as well. Now if Oklahoma were to decide to go to the SEC, then goodbye to the OU/Texas game, as it's be Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and whatever other team (probably Missouri).
I've read that the problem with Texas moving to the PAC 12 is the longhorn network vs the PAC 12 tv network. Who knows?? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Well, they're going to have that problem pretty much no matter where they move, unless they say screw it and go Indy.
when texas and ou officials met earlier in the week, texas said they wanted to stay in the big 12 whereas ou told texas that they wanted to move to the pac 12. ou also said that oklahoma state and texas tech favor that move as well, rather than staying in the big12.
interesting.....pitt and syracuse talking to the ACC

Per ESPN, Pitt and Syracuse have applied to join the ACC.

I would have a little more doubt. Rivalries are getting thrown out the window when $$$$ is involved. And Pitt/Syracuse have $$$$ reasons for the ACC. WVU doesn't.
I posted ^^^^^ last week in the NFL thread. Now I'm hearing it during the ESPN ABC Auburn/Clemson broadcast. What the hell is that?!?!
So long Big East. :D SEC and Pac-12 gonna raid the Big 12. ACC and Big Ten gonna raid the Big East. At least people could possibly get their wish of a 4 team playoff. 4 16-team super conferences, it could happen.
I'm really excited to join the ACC. It's really nerve-racking when you don't know if you're going to be one of the schools left out of the realignment shuffle and the Big East was easy pickins' for the other conferences for quite some time now. Post-raid they have done OK (sans last season) on the field but unfortunately in this day and age that's just not enough to survive. You've got to have good leadership and the Big East is really lacking there.
WVU is going to land somewhere. I'm going to be a little saddened if they don't come along to the ACC but if they get into the SEC their fans will obviously jump for joy. They're a good fit for that conference, really, and more-so than for the ACC. Secondly, the Backyard Brawl has to continue. I'm sure that Pitt will do all that it can to keep it alive. If they don't I will be pissed - we know what it's like to lose a rival due to arrogance and it's a true shame for the fanbase.
Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State to Pac-12(-16) rumors heating up again.
Iowa State & Baylor have supposedly reached out to the Big East.
It's looking like the Big East may survive (somewhat) but the Big XII won't.
If the Big East does, it's going to be the WAC of the east. I think UConn and either West Virginia or South Florida are going to be #15 and 16 in the ACC. The Big Ten, if they can beat out the SEC, pick up Missouri, along with Rutgers, Louisville, and whoever else (maybe Notre Dame, maybe West Virginia if the ACC doesn't take them). Cincinnati would make sense, but it'll be a cold day in hell before Ohio State would agree to Cincinnati being let into the Big Ten.

UCONN desperately wants to be in the ACC.
TCU has to by just crying at all the news. The Big East is going to end up being a Mid Major at this rate.
Yep. Mountain West is becoming very respectable as a major conference, especially now with Boise State in it, and with Fresno State, Hawaii, and Nevada joining next year. TCU seriously jumped the gun. Same for BYU. While I'm sure they'll do fine as an indy, they should have stayed too.
if those two would have stayed (tcu and byu), its almost a sure thing that the mountain west would have gotten an automatic bid.
My thoughts exactly. With Boise State, Hawaii and Nevada all joining, along with BYU, TCU and the rest, even with Utah leaving, that's still a hell of a conference. It was only a matter of time. Granted, with the Big 12 on life support, and about to have the plug pulled, and the Big East potentially headed into intensive care, the Mountain West may still get that automatic bid.
Now if only the NCAA could force them to get a conference logo that actually looked decent. :fp:
I found this odd. It came from a link on the article you posted.
The source said Pittsburgh was one of the Big 12's top options as a replacement for Texas A&M, and that when Pitt announced it was going to the ACC, it "clobbered everything" regarding the Big 12's future.
Pitt would be a horrible fit for the Big 12.
I am starting to like the POD system being discussed for a PAC 16.
Pac16 Pods:
South - Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
Mountain - Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Utah
Pacific - California, Stanford, UCLA, USC
Northwest - Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, WSU
The teams will play nine conference games, three divisional games annually plus a rotation of two games from each of the three other divisions. Plus three non conference games.
Pitt was never going to join the Big 12 so that statement is nonsense.
Take it for what it's worth, but rumors are that WVU submitted paperwork to the SEC tonight.
I fully expect the announcement to come the day of the LSU game this coming Saturday.

Somewhat surprised by that. The ACC has made more sense for West Virginia geographically. And with WVU being considered the conference favorite a number of years now, and sucking it up during the season and unable to win the conference, it's only going to be worse in the SEC. They're gonna get whooped on each year.
We might be 6-6 for a year or two, but I can guarantee you we will at least contend for our side of the conference in the first 1-3 years that we make the move to the SEC. We aren't going to accept 6-6 seasons in the SEC.
As for Pittsburgh, they'll be lucky to be 6-6 every year in the ACC. Never have a seen a team get more talent on signing day only to watch it dwindle away to nothingness over and over again than Pittsburgh (besides, maybe, Notre Dame). Pittsburgh will just be another whipping boy for the ACC teams to beat up on.
So, what kind of odds are being put on whether or not Baylor sues everyone in the Big 12 that are currently in talks to leave the conference?
At least a year or two.Quote:

No surprise here. If UConn and someone else bails for the ACC, WVU bails for the SEC, and Texas/Texas Tech/Oklahoma/Oklahoma State bail for the Pac-12, the unwanted leftovers from the Big East and Big 12 are considering merging together.
Big East, Big 12 Discuss Merger
And if the unwanted leftovers combine and get to keep an automatic bid in the BCS, I'm officially calling bullshit. No way those leftover teams are worthy of a guaranteed BCS bid every year.Quote:
NEW YORK -- A person involved in the discussions tells The Associated Press that school and conference officials from the Big East and Big 12 have been discussing ways to merge what's left of the two leagues if Texas and Oklahoma leave the Big 12.
The person, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk publicly about what is going on behind the scenes, said Monday there has been dialogue between athletic directors and high-level officials in the conference offices.
Syracuse and Pittsburgh have announced they will be leaving the Big East for the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Texas and Oklahoma are both trying to decide whether to leave the Big 12 for the Pac-12, taking Oklahoma State and Texas Tech with them.
If they do an automatic bid for the BCS, they might as well call it the annual TCU BCS bid. Will be a good hoops conference.
Authority has been given to the OU/Texas presidents to make a move.
