I thought it was very good, but also very short. I beat it on the second hardest difficulty in just a shade under 6 hours. It's a lot less stealth oriented than the past games, but I'd still recommend it especially with it being so cheap.

Yeah, I had a lot of fun with it, and still put it in and play some random missions for fun now and then.
Yes, please, and thank you.

Do you lament the lack of games like X-Wing or Freespace in modern games? Do you wish that you could pilot a starship in epic space battles a la the Battlestar: Galactica television remake? Developer Seamless Entertainment hopes so, because its new game aims to take advantage of that very market. SOL: Exodus takes us back into space, puts us in the cockpit, and is the first step in what the team hopes will be the return of a genre.
When I was much younger I played the shit out of the Wing Commander series, Privateer after that and then Star Lancer.
I loved the Privateer series where you started with a ship and from there decided if you wanted to be a cargo runner, pirate, hired gun or really whatever. Then you could upgrade your ship, buy new ships, take missions of all kinds. Spent a lot of hours on those games.
I played WC IV a ton on my PS1, but I really played a lot of X-Wing Alliance on the PC. I was a little behind the times, and didn't get into them when X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and XvT were all the rage, but I definitely enjoyed the ones I could play. I'm very hopeful that the genre receives a little life.
Man, I never liked those games. Maybe if they do the stuff right (and have some type of radar system that actually make sense). Otherwise, I'm blindly swinging around, hoping to god I find the fuckin' ship blowing me to fuckin' hell in time.
I dunno of that was Bdoughty that was talking about this or not...and suggested Top Spin 4....but hell for $19.99, I'll give it a shot!
Your avatar creeps me the fuck out. :D
He should do an edit to give him red eyes. That would make it super creepy.
Yeah, that would be worse. It might actually get me to lose sleep.
The very first thing I think of every time I see his avatar.

Well-written piece on IGN about the fine line between a "current events" game and exploitation of the events.

When we look closely at a game like Medal of Honor, we see a game torn in half by two opposing imperatives: the desire to do some justice to the sacrifices of Marines in combat, and the need to offer an engaging game. In order for something like Medal of Honor to be considered a game (much less a commercially viable one) by modern standards, it has to provide a certain amount of mindless fun; unless you let players kill enemies like the Taliban by the hundreds, you probably don't have much of a game. But if you do let the player slaughter thousands without batting an eyelash, without ever making him think about the consequences of war, then you're offering an irresponsible—even offensive—fantasy-world version of a real conflict. This is a problem, on some level, in virtually all violent games. Even Nathan Drake, as likable a hero as they come, is by any reasonable definition a mass murderer. (And an glib one at that—a guy who says "That's gotta hurt" after shooting someone in the face.) It's only when these games depict actual situations that they veer into an ethical danger zone by trivializing real suffering.
Playing Nier. Rented it off Gamefly. I just now read its from the maker of Drankengard.....which I did not like. Oh well....maybe it'll surprise me by sucking more then reviews say or not being all that bad. heh.
Dumb Questions I preordered Gears 3 through Amazon, do I seriously have to pay for shipping and handling? I thought that shit was free on pre-orders, and I also thought I get it the same day it comes out?
Thanks, I figured out actually not to long after I asked the question. Still worth it for the 20.00 credit. I might get a couple of other games through them just to rationalize my excessive game buying this holiday season.
I can't believe Gears 3 is only 18 days away. My social life is going to disappear when that drops.
Giving RPG's another try after being burned out from them. Just havent liked the current gen games.
Can anyone tell me if either Kane & Lynch game is worth $5? Their each on Steam for $5.10 today... I played the K&L2 demo and it wasn't terrible but heard it was extremely short and debatable whether it's worth $5.
It's not, from what I've played of either of them (which is, admittedly, very little). They are very short, from my understanding as well and both are pretty terrible. There are plenty of games out there that are like them, but better, though playing them on the PC might actually be more enjoyable because part of the issue was playing it on the 360, the controls were pretty shitty.
Personally, I wouldn't pay $5 for them, but that's just me as I have zero interest in them. If it's something that you're even halfway considering, you probably can't beat 10-15 hours worth of so-so gameplay for $5.
Why is it that every competitive FPS turns into people spawn killing another team and it seems like 99 times out of 100 it's my dumb ass team getting spawn killed? I don't understand people that FPSs anymore. It used to be about the skill of the kill. Thanks to Call of Duty, it's the quantity, not the quality. I can't even stand to play Team Deathmatch in FPSs anymore because it inevitably comes down to the dude that's found the best camping spots on the map and then switching back and forth between the two or three that are close together. There's no such thing as team work anymore unless it revolves around covering the three different directions the other team can come from their spawn point while racing to see who can first get the best kill streak that totally fuckin' wipes the floor because there's barely any counter to it (or, none at all).
Yeah. That was a series I never really got into playing that much. Just not my kind of game. The promise of people getting the play the zombies and playing against the humans never really panned out how I had hoped it would.
Yeah, Gears 3 is a competitive man's shooter. It doesn't baby you like all the other shooters have started to do. If you suck at it, well...get better. They added little crutches here and there like the Sawed Off, but it's still heavily sided towards the "hardcore" player.
As lame as it sounds, I also have high hopes for MW3 after the info they released during last week's expo. It seems they realized that fans want a more refined COD4, and it appears we'll be getting something along those lines. I'm also pretty excited about BF3, but other than those 3, that's about all I'm looking forward to shooter wise this year.
Yeah that Sawed Off pisses me off. I suck with it, but get owned by it.
Has anyone played Dead Rising 2? I picked up the Collector's Edition off Newegg for $19.99 yesterday.
Yeah a $20 collector's edition is tough to pass up too....here are the extras on that:
Dead Rising 2 game disc
Exclusive two-disc steelbook case
High-Def disc with 83 Minute "Zombrex Dead Rising Sun" motion picture and 24 minute "Making of" featurette
Zombrex "Syringe" pen
Zombrex "Prescription" notepad (25 pages)
Zombrex "Safety" card
Zombrex "Prospectus" sales brochure (16 pages)
Dead Rising 2 hardback artbook (48 pages)
LOL all of that would find its way to the trashcan in my house. Minus the game disc of course.
