My assumption was they would show "flashes" of it (otherwise how the hell do you get a full grasp of the concept) throughout the movie and then go back to whatever the hell the issue is with that one guy and the masked people.

iVE read you don't get a feel for the size of the house or where the rooms are.

The Purge becomes a lowbrow game of cat and mouse where nearly every single character is “saved” from behind by another character, who ends up being double-double crossed the same way. The only sequence that remains memorable is a gruesome game room battle between James and the invaders rocking shotguns and axes.

And while the ideas presented in The Purge are actually pretty damn cool, the illogical and convenient decisions made by all of the characters are maddening (i.e. from James’ decision to lock down the house one minute before the purge to characters walking aimlessly around the house during an invasion), so much so that you could hear constant sighs of frustration from half the audience.

Yeah, I figured it was gonna be a really audience groaner. It's an interesting concept, but I had a feeling it was gonna be written REALLY poorly.

Just now got around to watching this. Looks interesting.

Drive was the best movie of 2011 (followed closely by God Bless America, The Cabin in the Woods, Source Code) but I'm not totally sold on the director (Valhala Rising was trash). Drive was based on a book. This movie isn't. Not so sure I'm going to immediately rush out and see it when it hits the theaters.

I haven't been to a movie theater since probably 2004 or 2005. It's nothing but wallet rape anymore. They rape you with the ticket prices, they rape you with the concessions prices, your ears get raped by the nearby fucktards who won't shut the motherfucking fuck up or won't turn their fucking phones off. It's nothing but fucking aggravation anymore. Fuck that shit. I'll just wait for the movie to come out and rent it from Redbox or something.

Syfy never lets us down when it comes to hilariously horrible movies. :D

I end up watching them just for the humor factor. It ends up like my own little Mystery Science Theater 3000, sitting there making quips, jokes and remarks about scenes throughout the movie.
