While I agree with G that the background (read: fundamental and real) reason for the lack of changes is because so few played it, the official reason is that Tiburon is planning a massive overhaul of both offline and online franchises for Madden 12. Because of the size of the project, they did not make any changes this year (I presume with the reasoning being that it's better to put out a massive update than incremental releases).
So yeah ... nothing changed in Offline this year either.
Looks like I won't be playing Madden again this year. I really haven't played it since I moved to the PS3 3 years ago. It's strange since I was a hardcore Madden guy on PS2. I used to play in the tournaments and other ones, and play franchise mode all day and draft the NCAA players. Now my NCAA dynasty guys go no where. :dunno:
ok... i finally got online... got into the OD... i am still tethered... someone from charter is supposed to call me tomorrow (actually today since its 2AM) and let me know what they can do... i actually played a guy on this tethered setup (using Easytether by the way... was a 3 minute process no joke... i even paid 9.99 for the app to support the dev) anyways... the game was decently smooth... had its rough spots obviously, but... i need to catch a few of you guys on to just mess around in a practice game to get a feel for it...
once i find out what charter says, i will be able to give a better idea of when/if i will be getting cable speeds any time soon...

So as much as I hate to say it, from everything I am reading I see a patch coming out soon to fix the issues with recruit ratings and progression and I get the feeling like in years past we will have to restart the OD.
The good in that: we will have ironed out all the issues (sliders) and anything else that comes up between now and then.
The bad: This may end up being a practice run.
Hopefully it doesn't come to that but I just have a feeling.

if it fixes progression i dont mind some of this seasons recruits being low, then i can still use some of the frosh and soph on my roster (which is why i liked the low ratings in the first place ;/)
if they go back to the old ways, then 3*s QBs will all be 70 ovr or better and instantly be better than my current 3* freshman from last year (66 and 68 ovr) which is lame considering one of them was the best QB in the state of FL last year.

A poster on the official EA boards said that he talked to support and that a patch was supposed to be released last night. I'm willing to bet that if it is indeed true that rather than a patch addressing the issue, instead a Tuner Set would address it. Patches take at least several weeks for them to go through the complete certification; tuner sets can be a matter of days, just requires determining what and how much needs to be adjusted and then testing it in-house.
ahhh, yea i love the idea of tuner sets to get around xbox/ps3 bureaucracy crap.
Interesting about the tuner sets, can they address what needs to be done or is this a maybe? Would we know when EA did this or would it come out after they did something?
It's not so much that they are discussing a patch but more all the issues they are finding with recruits/progression and that if it's like last year the first patch will address it which will require a OD restart (I believe).
I am perfectly fine with where the recruits are coming in at OVR, I think its more progression that needs to be tuned and the other ratings like elusiveness, juke move, etc that need to be addressed.
I think they would post something about it when they do it. And considering they never really went into detail about, they would probably do that too.
Yeah... I assume that they haven't went into detail about this feature because they were waiting until they had a tuner set to download. My assumption is that whenever there is a new tuner set available, it will automatically download at the start of the game. You'll notice that when starting up the game, one of the things it does says something regarding "checking for tuner sets" or something like that.
If it's just progression, an OD restart won't be necessary... it's only if they determine that recruits are coming in below their expectations. In fact, even if it's recruits, I could see the possibility of that even being adjusted via tuner sets. The way recruits are created is that they pull randomly from ~2000 player molds, and then again randomly, it will fluctuate that player mold's ratings +/- here & there to generate each recruit in a class. Tuner sets couldn't adjust the ~2000 player molds, however it could adjust the +/- fluctuations.
i think (hope) that progression change is all they need to fix.

hopefully if they do alter recruits, it will fix our OD for season 2, then we could all deal with less than perfect recruiting in season 1 and just keep on keeping on.
Everything ive read is that lower 3*s and below are just 'to low' right now from ppl and 4 and 5*s are right where EA wanted. IF they fix progression the 3*s should increase nicely enough and everything would be fine in our OD if we just have 1 year.
Irondragon, Glenn Stanley (LB for USC) has been released from his LOI (he was a juco guy) and will enroll at fsu :) so if we do restart at least i get another LB lol, of course he is expected to move to DE for us.
Smart move by Guru....I wouldn't want to mess up my chances if I was about to take over the #2 team, too ;-)
Well, good news for those that have not seen it yet. The problems with recruits and progression look like they can be fixed with a tuner set....which is due out next week.
I wonder though what impact the gameplay tuning will have on the slider set we have.
Does play action work for anyone against the CPU. I try to set it up with my run game but 9/10 I'm getting sacked or hit very quickly (like before the end of the drop back).
Play-Action is hit or miss for me. It is a function of the pass rush however. I usually keep an extra blocker in while running a play-action which seems to help, but I do plan on upping HUM pass blocking a little more as well.
seems to me that our OD will be safe, progression should be fixed before we head to the offseason, and recruiting will be fixed for year 2 as well (and i bet the 5* and high 4* ratings do not get changed much anyways.Quote:

It works, but not on 3rd down. On 3rd down, the CPU sends too many blitzers, so unless you do a lot of things to your pass protection (just having an extra blocker doesn't help, because a lot of the time your otherwise extra blocker is the guy doing the PA fake), you don't have a chance to stay upright.
I have a way to fix the CPU blitzing and run/pass ratios for the CPU...only problem is I haven't found a way to do this for Online Dynasties as I cannot access coach settings for the other schools nor can I upload a file.
Usually if I run one its after I've ran a few successful runs and trying to set it up to run on 1st or 2nd down. I've never attempted to run one of 3rd down before. Still when trying to attempt one on 1st or 2nd, its like they know exactly whats coming and ALWAYS get at minimum 3-4 guys in the backfield once the fake is made. I even try to make adjustments for extra blockers to stay in, for example 1 of the TE's who was running a route initially.
And the D-line always uses the jump the snap feature somehow.
i just found sometihng that could be quite annoying in the future. I advanced a minors OD im running with my friends to conf. champ week forgetting neither of us had a game to play, and now it wont let me advance to bowl week until i wait for 20 minutes. Gshwendt, do u know if their is a 20 minute minimum in offseason as well? This could really lengthen our post season activities.

sorry guys, but i have to step out... ive tried everything i can with the cable company... but nothing... everything with dsl... but nothing... i can tether finally using the easy tether like i had wrote about... but unfortunately, if you watch any commercials from at&t... you cant use data and take a call... so everytime i play, i get booted if i get a call... pisses me off so bad...
oh well... sorry guys... but honestly nothing i can do at this point... and i had looked forward to playing for so long...
