Based on feedback from fellow Coogs I have amended the seating chart diagram. Note that they occupy only one section, not two as I previously stated.

Brian, I'll let you take care of this since you'll probably be able to fact-check it the best.
Here's what I got on Facebook from one of my friends ... he actually messaged me several days ago, but it was stuck in my Spam mail (stupid gmail)
"Jeff, if you look at this photo: www.rosebowlstadium.com/pdfs/Rose-Bowl-Map.pdf The bands sit in opposite ends of the stadium in the "lettered row seats", OSU's band was in--according to the directional key--in the northwest corner, Oregon's band was in southeast corner."
In CDJ's initial posting about the Rose Bowl, he ascertained "Front of Section 27" and "Front of Section 14," which essentially correspond to the corners that your friend mentions in his message; good news as far as that goes. As long as we have good reference photos--and I believe that we do--and we make it clear that the bands are not in the seats but actually on the field in "temporary" seating, then we should be able to get across the right information.
Good news, thanks for confirming it man.
Sorry for the delay in images with my move from Maine to Michigan; still haven't set up my TV or PS3 yet at the in-laws, but I hope to do that in the next day or so. Once that is done, I'll resume taking the pictures and posting them to the thread.
I hope to get back to editing pics here shortly. Wanted to get Madden tourney rolling. Now that most of it is in place, I hope to help you with the images, Paakaa.
Haha; it has been quite the welcome to the region with this whole "Snowmageddon" thing rolling through the Midwest. My wife and I left our old apartment in Maine at 8:30AM on Sunday morning and took two days to get out here around 8:30PM last night. If we'd left a day later, we'd have been really screwed; especially me driving a 16-foot Penske moving truck.

Make sure the steps and a little bit of the left side of the section to the right is covered rather than the small section to the right. If you look here you can see what i mean

Thanks for the feedback; I'm just snapping the pictures in NCAA Football 11--trying to focus on the section we've designated as the "band section" and include other landmarks--while I believe that CDJ will be taking these images and circling/highlighting the specific sections after comparing them to our real-life reference photos. What I'm posting here are just the "source" images to begin with and the specific notes will be included later on.
NCAA 11 Screenshot Update: Just finished the "U" schools tonight (February 2nd, 2011); hoping to wrap up the "V" and "W" schools tomorrow, and then progress on the Conference Championship/Neutral Site Rivalries and Bowl Games will go from there.
Just finished out "The 120" with Wyoming at 10:04AM ET today; going to upload the "V" and "W" images so that I can attach them, and then we'll have those stadiums taken care of!
should we get the info for denver university, texas-san antonio, and texas state since they're joining the wac in the 2012-13 season?
If that information is available, it won't hurt to have it on-hand. We'll just compile it separately until those teams are confirmed to be in the game.
EDIT:
The Denver University Pioneers have not had a football team since 1960 or so; they will not be joining the WAC in football as a result.
The University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners will begin playing in 2011at the Alamodome; here is the seating chart from their website:
http://www.goutsa.com/pics31/0/XT/XT...0915003716.jpg
The dark red represents the Student/Band sections. Until the team begins play, we won't know for sure where the band will be seated. We may be able to use the Alamo Bowl band section as a placeholder until we have reference photos; since there is a band in Section 125--which is in the dark red--at the Alamo Bowl, that could be a solid guess in the meantime.
Here's a "fun" look at what UTSA's turf may look like at the Alamodome, though it hasn't been confirmed yet:

The Texas State University Bobcats play at Bobcat Stadium; the band sits in Section F, which is the black section on the seating chart below:

SIDE NOTE: NCAA Football 11 images for Conference Championship games and Neutral Site Rivalries are now finished. Bowl Games will be started at some point, but probably not today.
After a whole lot of time spent going through NCAA Football 11, taking screenshots, downloading them to my computer, and uploading them to my blogspace, I finally have provided in-game reference images for all of the band sections that we figured out. Enjoy!
Wouldn't it be awesome if you could put all the hours you spent on this onto your resume?
Incredibly job to finish this off, Brian. Very impressive dedication.
Haha indeed. Maybe I'll find some way to make researching details for sports video games a marketable career trait.
Thanks man; I attribute it to my wonderful OCD, preventing me from even thinking of abandoning this project once I started it.Quote:

Highlighted sections completed for teams A-F. Hope to get them done early this week, then will place pic into each appropriate team post.
I'm beginning to think this one is wrong. Go through a bunch of the videos at this YT account (all/most dated 2010, I believe) and they appear to be more in 217.
After finally getting the chance to look through the videos on that YouTube channel, I think that you're spot-on with Section 217. You can see the section numbers on the back wall at the top of the stadium, and while the angle isn't ideal towards pinpointing the exact section, 217 would appear to be the most logical fit.
I just wish that we had a more exact seating chart which better reflected stairs to get even closer to having the section exact. I'll hop on NCAA Football 11 to get the screengrab and see if the stadium model proves easier to work with.
http://pursuitofperfection10.files.w...ionrevised.jpg
From the stadium model, the label is "17" instead of "217" but this is on the correct side of the field. The section above this is labeled "30" in the in-game model which should match up with "230" or so from the real-life video on that YouTube channel.
I believe this is correct because you can see a "tunnel" opening at the bottom of the band section in the YouTube videos and the in-game stadium model has a staircase leading from the stands to the field; that quickly became a key thing to look for as I searched the stadium models for the band section, as the art team would appear to have put those in as an easy-to-overlook detail unless you're specifically searching out this information.
Nice find, OSUCowboyofMD! Looking through my pics for updated field art, that appears to be correct: Furthermost Right Section of North Bleachers.
On that note, MSU is the worst team in the game right now in trying to figure out their field art. It appears they changed their field art 2 or 3 times during the season. That pic appears to be from early last year as the Nick Bell 36 logos are not on the field yet and the end zone text is white. When they played then #21 Auburn, it was maroon.
Shoot... guess I'll be firing up NCAA 11 again tomorrow and getting a screengrab of the correct band section for Mississippi State. Good catch, OSUCowboyofMD.
Wisconsin - in these pictures, it shows them sitting in field bleachers sorta kinda like how Notre Dame and Purdue's band does
http://www.thesportsbank.net/core/wp...ll_stadium.jpg
South Carolina - some games like the opener in the 1st link show them sitting there, but in the 2nd link, they're in another section
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jackiem...n/photostream/
http://www.netitor.com/photos/school...l/2063587.jpeg
- I can't find any other pictures, but i've seen them sit mostly in the section thats shown in the 2nd link
You're right that there are field bleachers, but that's not enough for all of their band, and there's clear evidence that they are in the Sections we have them in.
If you watch this video, you can see the empty section when the band is on the field during Jump Around. Add that to the evidence we already have (and my own memories of all the shots of their band in our games against them), and I'm confident in our answer.
Maybe it will be in this year....
From Operation Sports in the cover discussion thread, game designer Alex Howell (not sure of his area) added this in response to the news of NCAA info on First Take tomorrow morning:
I could be wrong, but I don't think a dev would mention that (even as a passing joke) if there weren't truth to it.Quote:
Yes, we are going to reveal HUGE news. But I am going to go ahead and spoil it for you...
NEW BAND PLACEMENT FOR NCAA12!!!!!11111
:D
EDIT - Alex has posted on OS that he came in this fall and is now the designer for Road to Glory.
Ole Miss is moving theirs to the South Endzone but I'm not exactly sure where yet.
In a MarketWatch article discussing the social side of EA SPORTS, the NCAA Football community was given a special shout-out for their work on gathering band info:
"In one case, the NCAA Football 12 developers asked for help figuring out where marching bands are situated in 120 college stadiums; it took just three days for the online community to provide an answer for every location."
Hoping that they get Arrowhead Stadium back in for the Mizzou vs KU Border War. Here's a photo of the stadium from the end zone nearest the tunnel... {the tunnel is to the left} which is where MU is at and KU's band is in the opposite end zone.

It's probably too late to change at this point, but I just noticed that Paakaa's NCAA 11 screenshot for Houston has the UH band taking up too much of section 217. Here is how it should appear (apologies for the crude correction):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...hted_CORRD.png
Ole Miss moved it's band to S6 at the top above the students so you can hear the band better. http://ev8.evenue.net/evenue/linkID=...ng_charts.html
There is a link to a chart that shows it. At the top of S6 it says Band, it might be hard to see. With the band moving to S6 the students will now take up some of Section A as well.
Updated table in post 2 with updated Houston screen and Ole Miss location. Will add in-game reference shot for Ole Miss later this week.
