Legends and former standouts were once found in basketball video games as unlockables via cheat code or as worthwhile free agents worth considering in Dynasty Mode. In today's gaming landscape they have become a key part of Ultimate Team modes for numerous EA SPORTS games and are the rarest of the rare; the most prized possession possible in NBA Live Ultimate Team.

Taking a look back at previous EA SPORTS basketball titles (NBA JAM and NBA JAM: On Fire Edition) shows that the company added many legends for NBA Live 14, but also that there were numerous that were not retained. Players may be dropped or not renewed for various reasons: cost, exclusivity with competitor NBA 2K (Ex: Michael Jordan), perceived lack of value for the player, et al. However with NBA Live 15 & NBA Live 16, many legends returned - along with some new ones. (Keep in mind that the NBA Live 16 legends will continue to be added & revealed throughout the year; 94 is not the final count.)

NBA Live 16 Ultimate Team will feature 43 legends in packs at the launch of the title.

Some of the more noteworthy legends available now in LUT include: Manute Bol, Darryl Dawkins, Allen Iverson, Shawn Kemp, Dennis Rodman, and Spud Webb.

Among the new or returning players after a layoff are Rony Seikaly (last in NBA JAM & NBA JAM: On Fire Edition), Bob McAdoo and Bob Lanier (both new EA legends).

Last year, NBA Live 15 featured 88 legends that were released typically two or three at a time each weekend.

Just hours before the release of NBA 2K16, 2K Sports has released their 'Momentous' trailer for the title.

Set to Imagine Dragons' "I'm So Sorry," the trailer showcases signature moves, highlight slams, player emotion, and hard collisions on the floor.

In NBA Live 16, Ultimate Team adds new features and aspects to improve on an already popular mode.

Specialists & Masters: Certain players will be noted as 'specialists' that must be used in certain games. Going through and completing these challenges will unlock Master versions of players.

Short Term Players: Some top level players will only be available for a select number of games.

Throwbacks: Some current players will be available in various stages of their career, perhaps their rookie year or MVP season.

Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR game update 1.03 is expected to be available Tuesday, September 22. The update adds East Lake Golf Course as a playable course in all modes (minus Night Club Challenge).

Also addressed in the update: issue where ball would roll through the pin instead of colliding with it, matchmaking and invite stability issues, updated attributes for golfers, & more.

WWE 2K16 has completed their roster reveal for the title, coming late October. Including the pre-order bonus of The Terminator, the game will feature over 120 wrestlers including numerous Attitude-era wrestlers & 13 divas.

With the reveal, WWE 2K released a statement announcing that Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Bayley (known as The Four Horsewomen on WWE programming) will not be coming to the game, even as part of DLC.

The latest trailer from NBA 2K16 focuses more on MyCareer and what you will be doing away from the Spike Lee-directed aspects of the mode.

The video shows the created player playing high school basketball and making his college decision - hat and all - of attending the University of Kansas. The 'central hub' for your MyPlayer in this mode will be MyCourt, a completely customizable (in-home?) court. Users can invite friends in to their MyCourt before playing games.

Off-days are important as users must spend time wisely to satisfy endorsement deals and establish connections with NBA players and personalities. Connections will allow your MyPlayer to earn badges and other rewards.

Also introduced is Live Practice, where users can interact with coaches and teammates as they partake in drills and earn attribute boosts.

EA SPORTS has revealed the top player and team ratings for NBA Live 16.

Leading the way are the point guards, with Chris Paul the highest-rated in the game at 95 overall. Following him is a tie for second-highest PG at 94 OVR between cover athlete Russell Westbrook and Steph Curry. The top shooting guard is Houston's James Harden with a 91 OVR, followed by Klay Thompson of Golden State at 91 OVR, with the Lakers' Kobe Bryant at an 89. LeBron James is the highest rated player in the game with a 97 OVR. At power forward, Blake Griffin (LAC) and Anthony Davis (NO) lead the way each at a 95 OVR. Finally, at the center position Marc Gasol is tops at 95 OVR with Demarcus Cousins hot on his heels at 94 OVR.

In terms of team ratings, the Los Angeles Clippers are the best in the Western Conference coming in at 97 OVR. The Cleveland Cavaliers are the best in the Eastern Conference with a 96 OVR rating.

The ratings come with player screenshots, where available. If a player is signed to the competitor's product (cover athlete, part of marketing/promotion, etc.), EA cannot not use them in their own marketing or promotional materials.

The NBA LIVE Companion App is now available in the Google Play Store and App Store.
