College Football 26 - How to Use Stunts

The Gaming Tailgate has put together a guide detailing to use the new Stunts feature in College Football 26. Stunts are typically a move that sees two defenders (usually on the defensive line) exchange their roles in gap responsibilities. The goal is to confuse offensive linemen on their pass protection or even run game assignments. Stunts (also known as twists) are used more often on obvious pass situations as slow developing stunts can leave wide open areas on the field for a running back, especially if the wrong gap is left open.

Stunts Controls (PS5/Xbox)

On Playcall Screen:

• HOLD the button corresponding to the desired playcall.
• Use directional pad or Left Stick to HIGHLIGHT desired stunt.
• RELEASE the playcall button to call the desired play with specific stunt.
• Note: Only stunts compatible with the defensive front will be shown.

Pre-Play:

• Press Left (D-Pad) then R1/RB for Stunt.
• Press the button corresponding to desired stunt.
• Note that you can use D-Pad left and right to scroll through all available stunts.
• Note: Only stunts compatible with the defensive front will be shown.

When to call: Stunts work best on passing plays. Unless the stunt develops quickly, a stunt can create an opening for a running back. Begin by using on obvious passing downs to try and create pressure on the quarterback. Use in conjunction with blitzing linebackers for extra pressure.  


List of Stunts in CFB 26:

Left Exit 2 Man Right Exit 2 Man

EXIT (E-T): Defensive end crashes inside to the B-gap to free up the defensive tackle who then loops outside.


Left Tex 2 Man Right Tex 2 Man

TEX (T-E): Defensive tackle crashes towards the B-gap while defensive end loops inside the A-gap.


Left Tom 2 Man Right Tom 2 Man

TOM: Defensive tackle crashes inside to the A-gap while NT/DE loops behind to the same gap.


Left Pirate 3 Man Right Pirate 3 Man

PIRATE: Defensive tackle and defensive end crash in while nose tackle loops outside.


Left Tempe 4 Man Right Tempe 4 Man

TEMPE: Defensive End & Nose Tackle will crash into B-gaps with one Defensive End looping into A-gap while the other loops outside.


El Paso 4 Man

EL PASO: Both Defensive Ends crash inside their respective B-gap while the defensive tackles loop outside.


Texas 4 Man

TEXAS: Nose Tackle & Defensive Tackle crash into B-gaps while DEs loop into A-gaps.
