Wilson isn't flashy or a highly touted recruit, but he does come in with some impressive physical tools and is perfect for the Mountaineers scheme. Coaches love his size and his ability to move at his size. He will need to add more strength in order to make the tough catches in traffic, but a 1st year redshirt should help with that.

You can never get enough good OL and Harmon is a good addition to an already solid OL. With good strength and good all-around skills, he'll be a good addition.

He'll redshirt his first year on campus but with four OL graduating this season and another three graduating next season, he'll need to be ready to play shortly thereafter.

Harmon also received offers from Houston, Minnesota, and Mississippi State.

Whitworth is a solid CB prospect with very good speed and good all-around coverage skills. He has some work to do in the tackling department but won't play inside very much over his career.

The Red Wolves don't have an immediate need at DB so he'll redshirt his first year on campus.

Whitworth also received offers from Penn State and Michigan State.

He will redshirt so he will have more time to further develop and learn the system. He has the ability to play inside or rush from the End position. He also could be a factor on special teams.

Coaches are looking forward to adding to the current scheme even more to take advantage of his skill set.

Berry is a stud of an OL at the high school level. He bullies around practically every DL he faces with his brute strength. You would think that because of that, he'd have poorer technique but that's not the case... he's very good at run blocking and good enough at pass blocking.

He'll redshirt for a year to improve his overall skill but may need to contribute his second year on campus.

Grabbing Gipson was huge for the Mountaineers as he will be heavily needed next year. With 5 upperclassman LB's leaving 2 of which are on the outside, Gipson could possibly see starting his 1st year on campus. Coaches will try to get creative in the offseason to prevent from having to play this early. Though he has the tools to play early, he could use a redshirt to help bulk up and add some more pass rushing moves.

Notre Dame and Toledo were also in the mix

Huge commit for WVU as Taylor was coaches' #1 target to get. Taylor has amazing physical attributes especially his speed. At WVU's camp last year he showed amazing quickness and spectacular range in receiving drills. He could definitely start soon as he stepped on campus but the WR position is well stocked so he won't be needed just yet. This will allow him even more time to grow, get stronger and better his route running.

Burns was a solid add that coaches weren't really pursuing heavily thus far in the season only spending minimal time recruiting him (100 points/week). Still WVU managed to stay at the top of his list because no other teams showed interest. Once Burns got the offer he instantly committed to the team adding solid depth at the LB position. Burns could potentially move inside at the MLB spot if the numbers suit him better there. He already possess solid strength and block shed ability, but will need to improve in a few areas before playing. Notably his tackling, speed and pass rushing moves.

He will redshirt his first year on campus, then coaches will reevaluate where he plays based on his progression

As well, he has exceptional hands all-around as a receiver. Coaches are still debating on whether to make him a HB first, WR second or vice versa. Either way, he'll play both roles and will be a unique threat defenses will have to contend with.

Stover also had an offer from Ohio State.

Early in the season, Arkansas State had heavy interest some Safeties to add depth at both FS and SS. When those plans fell through, Pitts fell into their lap and they're glad he did. While not flashy on paper, he has everything Red Wolves coaches want with very good speed, ability to blitz off the edge and good enough coverage abilities to keep an offensive coordinator honest.

Travis Porter was a huge and surprising signing that the Mountaineers didn't think they would get. Surprisingly MSU dropped out of the running for him allowing him to commit to WVU. Coaches aren't quite sure where Porter will play, but he could possibly be placed at the the HB position with his speed and physical ability. He will need to get stronger with the ball and a few other things before that is set in stone however. Then again he has the ability to play CB. Coaches will have time to decide as he redshirts his first year on campus.

He comes in with a solid skill set and physical tools but will need time to grow to become even better. He will redshirt his 1st year on campus, then take over the Defense the following year.

KU has been quiet on the recruiting trail this season, but has quietly brought in a potential Top 25 class. Here's who the Jayhawks have already signed.

http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jeffhc/2018_Brandon_Gibbs_zpsvhu15blk.png
FS
SS
:3star:
#419 #23CB
Brandon Gibbs is the rare type of high school cornerback that would rather make a jarring hit than a pick. As such, he'll be making a position change to the back end of the KU defense, either FS or SS depending on other commitments. Gibbs doesn't have the next-level speed that he would need to play cover corner at the collegiate level, so the position change will benefit him. He will need to grow into taking on more blocks, but he has time to learn those skills.

Gibbs will redshirt next season. He chose KU after receiving no interest from other schools.

http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jeffhc/2018_Alvin_Mason_zpsetk7lkyy.png
CB
:3star:
#506 #31CB
Alvin Mason is another above-average cornerback talent added to the fold in Lawrence. Compared with Gibbs, Mason has better straight-line speed which will allow him to adapt more quickly to the next level, though Mason does lack the loose hips of the elite college corners. His coverage skills are decent, and Mason's ability to play press at the line might be among the best I've ever seen on high school film. Unlike Gibbs, Mason will not be considered for position change, as corner is his best spot.

Mason will redshirt next season with depth in front of him. He chose KU over Georgia.

:4star:

KU entered this recruiting cycle with major needs at both linebacker positions. Wilson is not the most talented of the players that KU has either signed or targeted, but he will provide reliable depth going forward. He's a little short for a stormtrooper linebacker, but he fills out his frame well. His film also displays a nose for the ball, a quick first three steps, and a good ability to get off blocks.

Wilson will redshirt next season and get accustomed to the speed at the next level. Current projections have him as a backup in 2020 and a starter in 2021. He chose KU over (deep breath) Virginia Tech, Tulsa, LSU, Nevada, Colorado State, Wisconsin, UL-Monroe and Washington.

http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jeffhc/2018_Jim_Freeman_zps9bgukac8.png
LT
:3star:
#585 #37T
Jim Freeman is a diamond in the rough that KU coaches found after a few weeks of scouring the country looking for the next talent for the offensive line. Freeman is a solid, obvious left tackle prospect whose ability to pass block is nearly unrivaled at the high school level. Freeman does lack the lateral agility that you would like to see in a bookend tackle, but the current Offensive Line staff has been able to mold that type of clay before.

Despite his physical gifts, KU coaches are concerned about Freeman's intangibles. Freeman will redshirt next season to get a year of pure learning and film study under his belt. He chose KU after receiving no interest from other schools.

:espnu150:
As mentioned earlier, KU had a major need at linebacker this recruting cycle, with getting at least three signees an absolute must. Andrew Walker was the first of these linebacker targets to sign, and comes to Lawrence as one of the top linebackers in this year's class. Walker has good top-end speed for a linebacker, and gets to that top speed very quickly, but also brings a nose for the ball, coverage ability, and diagnoses the play quickly. In other words, Walker is about as well-rounded a linebacker as you'll find at the high school level. Walker does need to work on his lateral movement and strafing, but KU coaches hope that will come with time.

Walker will waste no time, getting playing time on special teams and as a backup linebacker next season. He chose KU over Air Force, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jeffhc/2018_Bryan_Howard_zpsy5u8cxku.png
WR
:5star:
#1 #1ATH
:espnu150:
Not only is Bryan Howard the star of this year's KU recruiting class, he's the number one player in the country. KU has signed plenty of #1 basketball players in recent years, but they haven't seen a football player this talented since, dare we say it, Gale Sayers? Howard may not be the best WR prospect that KU could have signed, but his overall talent is undeniable. He would be a huge threat at quarterback expect for his size, but with reliable hands and a solid understanding of route running, Howard looks the part of a prototypical slot receiver.

KU coaches hope to redshirt Howard next season, behind a lot of depth and talent at WR. He chose KU over Virginia Tech and Rutgers.

KU has quietly added a few more commitments to their class, though they're not making the big splashes that some of their competitors have this year. (Screenshots were taken last week when I last had time)

http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jeffhc/2018_Sean_Lambert_zpsqkfm4kbb.png

:3star:
#474 #95WR
For the second consecutive year, KU coaches missed out on some of their top receiving targets, though Sean Lambert's talent is nothing to sneeze at. First and foremost, Lambert has the size that KU coaches are looking for in their outside receivers, which will put him in position to join the rotation sooner rather than later. Lambert also has decent hands and an above-average understanding of the route tree. He has several things to work on, but will be a solid addition to the KU receiver corps with some development.

Lambert will redshirt next season and build a rapport with his quarterbacks. He chose KU over USC.

http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jeffhc/2018_Seth_Thompson_zpsifealu37.png
LG
:3star:
#436 #24G
Seth Thompson is a solid, if unspectacular, guard that KU coaches will be able to insert into the rotation in a couple of years time and have no worries about what they are getting. Thompson brings a balance in both run and pass blocking technique, and is also solid in the pulls and traps required in a power running game. Thompson does not have the highlight-reel de-cleating ability that some linemen possess, but he may develop that while in a collegiate strength and conditioning program.

Thompson will redshirt next season with plenty of talent in front of him. He chose KU over Nebraska, Ole Miss and Penn State.

http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jeffhc/2018_Kevin_Abrams_zps9tirykyc.png
DT
:3star:
#453 #33DT
In the concept of unstoppable force versus immovable object, Kevin Abrams would definitey be the immovable object, though not because he can stand his ground against all odds. Despite not having a large frame or heavy weight, Abrams just has not developed any time of lateral movement or top-end speed, though he does have a decent first step in the trenches. Where Abrams excels, however, is in his ability to make a sure tackle when he does get his hands on the ball carrier, and in all areas of getting through and around blocks. Expect to see Abrams using his strength to push around opposing linemen and disrput the play, rather than making it himself.

Abrams will redshirt next season. He chose KU over Kentucky.

http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/jeffhc/2018_Antwan_Smith_zpsgkgsfplw.png
MLB
:3star:
#491 #27OLB
Antwan Smith will be the third and final linebacker to join the KU 2018 class. Nominally an outside linebacker, Smith will move inside to middle linebacker in the KU 4-2-5 scheme. Smith lacks the proptypical height that most defensive coaches look for, but makes up for it with a lightly quick ability to diagnose plays, and closes quickly on the ball carrier. Like his fellow recruits, Smith will need to work on his lateral agility, and he also needs to take better angles to the ball carrier.

KU coaches would prefer to allow Smith to redshirt for a season, but they may be forced to give him playing time on special teams as early as next season. He chose KU over Air Force, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Lance Quinn made the KU coaches work for it. The #1 cornerback in the country, Quinn is basically a clone of last season's top signee, Mark Higgins. Quinn visited Lawrence early in the season, for their Week 7 victory over Florida, but wasn't ready to commit at that time. Since then, it has been a season long battle between KU, Oregon, Wyoming and New Mexico State, with KU leading the way until a late-season visit to Eugene gave the Ducks the edge. KU was able to convine Quinn during the offseason though, and he's now a Jayhawk. Quinn excels with top-end speed, good lateral movement and acceleration, solid coverage skills, and a surpising ability to take the right angle to the ball carrier. Quinn, like Higgins, will move to strong safety, and will pair with Higgins once the current starters graduate in a couple of years.

Quinn will redshirt next season while players in front of him finish their eligibility. He chose KU over Oregon, Wyoming and New Mexico State.

Arkansas State completes their class of 18 players by adding two FBs.

Huston is a monster of an OL with the body of a FB. With great strength and all-around blocking abilities, he'll be clearing a path for the ASU runners. While he doesn't possess any real running skills, the Red Wolves' FBs rarely carry the ball so that won't matter much.

ASU's previously starting FB graduated so Huston will start immediately and will also be an upgrade at the position.

Huston also received offers Texas, Tennessee, and Florida Atlantic.

Russell doesn't jump off the page like Huston does. He's solid and capable but still needs to grow and expand his abilities as a blocker.

For now, he'll redshirt but expect to see both Huston and Russell in the backfield in certain packages at times.

Russell received no other offers.

Jones was a late find for the Mountaineers after losing out on Cobb to Arkansas State. Not a bad 2nd choice for WVU as Jones will be the backup to Bean after both redshirt their first year on campus.

Ohio State was also in the running

Graham will be replacing a Groza award nominee soon as he steps foot on campus. He of course will start next season, but will still need to improve on his leg strength as Coaches' want touchbacks on atleast 90% of kickoffs.

Wilcox was another late find and at the time he didn't have WVU on his radar. Kansas led and coaches figured would sign him, but eventually dropped him allowing WVU to come into the picture. Wilcox isn't needed at the WR spot but he will see some time on kickoffs and possibly carrying the ball. He possess strong receiving skills aside from his hands which he will need to improve. In 2 years he could see starting time other than as a gadget type player
