After missing out on a coveted FB last season the Terps found an even better prospect. Black brings athleticism to carry the ball and solid blocking ability to the table with the ability to start Day 1. Coaches badly wanted him as part 1 of the Backfield overhaul is complete. Now the Terps just need to lock up their prized RB to continue to build towards the scheme they want.

Buffalo and Boston College were also in the running for Black

Wow, Skip. I was pretty much judging you for getting a :1star: FB, but that OVR is ridiculous for a :1star:. He's tons better than the guy I'm pursuing (who I think is :2star:), though I'm only signing that guy to get rid of a walk-on.

Minor knew he wanted to come to Lawrence before the recruiting process even started, and didn't consider any other schools. He visited in Week 3 for the upset win over Alabama, and the performance of the passing game in that contest cemented his decision.

Minor doesn't excel in any specific way, and will just be a good all-around receiver. His skills are decent enough to play either outside or inside, though his build is better suited to an inside position, so he will likely be a Y-receiver going forward for the Jayhawks.

Just seeing this.

Yeah lost a 80+ Senior last season and lost out on a guy was recruiting so I have a 45 rated walk-on right now

So anything better than that was good. He won't be a traditional FB anyway since the game/settings aren't geared toward lining up in I-Form and the like.

Roberson was very much overlooked by scouts. With ability to play multiple positions, he was an easy target to go after for Arkansas State. Once they discovered that he's perhaps one of the best coverage corners in all JUCOs, they knew they had to sign him.

Roberson will likely start in 2016 though depending on the rest of the class, he may redshirt to give him an extra year to play.

Roberson chose ASU over an offer from Houston.

Wright is truly a specimen playing receiver. At 6-7, he has the ability to simply reach over most defenders to catch the ball. ASU coaches are hoping that he has halfway decent blocking skills so that they can slide him over to Tight End where he would truly be a force in the passing game. If not, he'll still be an excellent receiver.

If he can play TE, he'll start immediately, otherwise at WR, he'll likely redshirt to allow him to improve on his already developed receiving skills.

Wright received no other offers.

Ashley is a JUCO Sophomore that can potentially play HB or CB. He will likely be converted into an HB as he doesn't have the size to play CB full time. Ashley could see playing time his first year on campus as a change of pace Back.

Four-star MLB Jesse Robinson was a huge get for the Kansas Jayhawks last week, as his signing will shore up the long-term needs at the MLB position in the Jayhawks 3-4 defense. Robinson was also a huge signing due to the pursuit by UCF as well, keeping such a talented player away from conference competition is important for the Jayhawk coaching staff. Robinson excels all-around for the MLB position, including top speed and acceleration for his size and youth. His nose for the ball is above-average and his ability to shed run blocks is nearly unparalleled in this year's class.

Like most Jayhawk recruits, expect Robinson to redshirt his first year on campus, and with attrition at the MLB position, Robinson could challenge for the #2 spot as soon as his redshirt freshman year. Robinson is most likely to stay at his natural MLB position, but if the Jayhawks are unable to sign two OLBs in this class, Robinson may be needed to move.

Robinson chose KU over UCF.

Banks was one of Coaches most prized recruits of this class. Given the uncertainity of the RB position next year coaches would love to start Banks off right away, but he may redshirt if possible.

He has all the tools to start off right away and contribute. Banks also possesses the ability to be an every down Back with solid receiving capabilities.

Robbins was perhaps the most important target in the Arkansas State class this season as the Red Wolves want to move to a 3-4 defense but are filled with inexperienced players. Robbins himself while only a true freshman, will almost certainly still be the best linebacker on the roster.

As a result, he'll start immediately and be an every-down linebacker.

Alabama showed early in interest but the week that Robbins was supposed to visit Tuscaloosa, he was left at the airport with no one to pick him up. As a result, he dropped them out of the rankings.

Definitely wanted Banks. Been looking for a Power type Back for the longest.

Those MLB's you guys got are nasty. I have one of my own who is purely for me to user control. So his's physical attributes are off the charts...87 speed and 90 acceleration.

Still need to hold onto to this other batch of recruits.

Baker was highly sought after by coaches after noticing his physical ability on the field. The Terps' will be losing all 3 starting LB's so Baker is part 1 of the LB corp makeover. If the Terps are able to land 2 of their other targets it will possibly give them one of the most athletic Corps in the nation. Can't depend on it however given how these visits are shaking out with pursuing schools.

Baker won't wow you with his position skill set but he won't have to do everything right away. He will start his first season on campus.

Wake Forest, NCSU and ECU all offered Baker

Four-star ATH Kyle Kilpatrick was the big target for the Jayhawks this weekend, and his signing will pay dividends down the line for the Jayhawks. While Rivals and Scout both have Kilpatrick scouted as a cornerback, Jayhawk coaches agree with 247sports that Kilpatrick is more likely a wide receiver at the next level. Kilpatrick has a combination of size and speed that should allow him to be a #1 target at wide receiver, which was the Jayhawks primary position of need this season. Kilpatrick will most likely redshirt next season, with four seniors at receiver next year for Kansas.

Kilpatrick chose Kansas over offers from Maryland and Temple.

Three-star tackle Dionte Long was another prospect that visited Lawrence for the Jayhawks' upset of Cal, and committed to the Jayhawks coaching staff the same weekend. Long has a balanced mix of strength, pass blocking technique and run blocking technique, and should provide a solid bookend tackle for the Jayhawks to build around. Long is expected to redshirt next season, with both tackle positions holding upperclassmen.

Long received no other offers.

OLB
:4star:
#202 #12MLB
Four-star OLB Nathan Wright committed to the Jayhawks last weekend, giving the Jayhawks two Top-200 linebackers in this year's class. Wright's first step is among the best in this year's class, regardless of position, and he impressed at The Opening in both the 10-yd shuttle and three-cone drill. Wright also possesses a strong instinct for the ball and above-average ability to get off blocks, though his swim and rip moves need development. Wright will redshirt next season with plenty of bodies in front of him.

Wright received no other offers after Kansas's lead scared off Northwestern.

Three-star tackle Will Marshall will come to Lawrence with a decent mix of strength, pass blocking, and run blocking. However, he lacks the speed and agility more commonly associated with a tackle, especially a left tackle. Marshall will redshirt next season to develop those skills, and most likely switch to a new position. Marshall will have to move to Guard or Center depending on other recruiting this season.

Marshall received no other offers.

:espnu150:
Four-star ATH Kenneth Holley is another big signing for the Jayhawks, both in terms of his impact and his physical stature. At 6-5, 252, the Jayhawks hope that Holley can man the DT position in a year or two, after putting on some weight and developing additional strength. Holley comes in with enough strength to hold his own, but truly excels at getting off blocks, using power rush moves and recognizing play action.

Holley will redshirt to get acclimated with the speed of the game at the college level and to get a year of strength training under his belt.

Holley chose Kansas over offers from New Mexico State, UCLA and Nevada.

OLB
SS
:3star:
#1098 #47SS
James Stanley comes in as a three-star project for the Jayhawks, but if he pans out his recruitment could pay huge dividends for the Kansas coaching staff. Stanley is an impressive strong safety at the high school level playing against lower-tier Alabama competition, but he doesn't possess the speed or quickness in changing directions to play secondary at the next level. What he does possess, however, is an impressive 6-4 frame that will look very good at the linebacker position. Stanley has the right skills to become a linebacker, especially after some time to grow. With Nathan Wright also joining in this class, and a few players in front of him, Stanley should have the opportunity to grow into his new position.

Stanley will definitely redshirt as he learns the OLB position.

Stanley received no other offers.

Three-star defensive end Jason Hardin needs development in a lot of areas, but will be able to grow into a role with the Jayhawks, thanks to a number of young players in front of him. Three-star Nick Newman gives the Jayhawks another speedy weapon to add to their passing arsenal. With wide receiver being a big need this season for the Jayhawks, coaches went out looking for speed and quick first-steps. Newman, a track star for his first three years of high school, possess both. With only a single year of high-school football under his belt, Newman's catching skills are a little raw, though he demonstrated a good ability to pick up the finer points of route running. Newman will redshirt next season to give him another year to develop his pass catching skills, especially grabbing the ball in traffic. Newman's build, especially compared with the other receivers Kansas is looking to bring in this year's class, has him destined as an H-receiver in the Jayhawks scheme.

Sources within Allen Fieldhouse strongly suggested that the Jayhawks had no plans to sign a tight end this season. Though with the relatively disappointing signing of Anthony Brothers last season, and with the current players at the position getting another year older, the coaching staff was more than happy to let George Glover come to Lawrence for an official visit. Glover turned some heads this season at a regional event of The Opening, winning the 10-yard dash at his position and demonstrating receiving skills that rivaled many of the top receivers at the event. Sources have even said that Glover would be considered as a receiver exclusively if his top speed was just a little higher. As it is, Glover may redshirt next season to get another year under his belt, or he may see some early playing time because of need.

Glover received no other offers.

Last but not least, we get to the possible crown jewel of this year's Kansas Jayhawk class. Four-star quarterback Adam Maynard (no relation to Jay Maynard) may not have been named MVP of the Elite 11 quarterback competition this season, but to participate in Trent Dilfer's made-for-TV competition is honor enough; and Maynard did repeatedly get pointed out as having the strongest arm in the competition, but his accuracy is questionable at times. With a pass-heavy offense in Lawrence, Maynard will get plenty of opportunities to show off his arm, but solid decision making will need to come with it. Maynard will also bring an upgrade in mobility over current starter Ryan Willis. With Willis set to enter his junior year next season, expect Maynard to redshirt next year, then compete for the backup quarterback job as a redshirt Freshman.

Maynard, say it with me now, received no other offers.

Darn roster limits. Only had room for 1 CB in this class, otherwise it would have been nice to at least compete for the local kid.

Arkansas State adds five signees after a big recruiting weekend over rival UL Monroe. Two more key targets are still in the mix for ASU but they may not sign until the offseason if at all.

With very good size and strength, Marshall is either a 3-4 DE or a 4-3 DT. For the Red Wolves, he'll move inside to DT to allow him to be a force in the middle. He'll redshirt his first year on campus then after that may compete for the starting job.

Marshall also had offers from San Diego State and Ball State.

Reed comes in as good if not better than current QB starter Drew Fernandez. However, Reed's main weakness is his ability hold onto the football when he runs with it. He'll redshirt for a year not only to improve his abilities but also to allow him to stick around for two years after Fernandez graduates.

Reed's only other offer was from Toledo.

Jackson joins a Red Wolves defense that needs rush DEs, particularly for the future. With Thomas graduating & Caston possibly moving to LB, Jackson may get immediate playing time. Coaches would prefer to redshirt him to allow him to get stronger in the weight room, that decision will have to wait for the offseason.

Jackson received no other offers.

Denman was another nice cog in building up the future of the Red Wolves defense. He is excellent all-around and will be a good one for the future. For now, he will likely redshirt to give him another year to play in the system.

Denman received offers from Florida State, Arizona State and had heavy interest from Northwestern.

Simmons is a superb speed-back to compliment the bruising running of HB Alex Turner. He'll be a great one in due time, however, he'll redshirt his first year on campus due to his bad case of fumblitis.

Simmons received no other offers but had early interest from Northwestern.

Coaches aren't even sure why Kendrick was recruited, especially at his position. He doesn't excel in anything for the WR position except for his speed. It's possible he may be used as a runner or returner at times, but he will likely never see the field as a WR unless he drastically improves his catching and route running. Either way he will be redshirted the 1st year on campus.

Newman was highly sought after by the Terps despite not being the most talented OLB, but for having the physical tools to excel at the position we hope. The Coaches set out to build an athletic LB Corp and are nearly finished doing so with 2/3 of the targets committed. Now just need the prized recruit to commit.

Newman will redshirt his first year on campus to further develop.

The only JUCO in this year's KU class, Jacob McBride comes to Lawrence after two solid years of growth at Hutchinson (KS) Community College. While McBride is a Florida native, the lack of junior college opportunities sent him to Kansas and Hutchinson, which just happens to be KU coach Jerry Brawner's hometown. McBride has enjoyed his two years in Kansas and decided to stick around by driving a few hours north to Lawrence. McBride will primarily bring strength and blocking technique to the Kansas offensive line, as he excels in both. With some upperclassmen ahead of him at guard, expect McBride to redshirt for one season before competing for the starting job.

McBride chose KU over Kentucky, West Virginia, and UCF.

Three-star guard Mike Castillo comes to Lawrence with one of the best combinations of pure strength and pass blocking technique that Kansas coaches have ever seen. Castillo needs to work on his technique in the run game, but with the Kansas offense so focused on the pass, Castillo's strengths will make up for his weaknesses. Castillo possesses such an all-around ability, including speed, agility, strength and pass blocking technique, that KU coaches assume he must not have a strong on-field awareness, otherwise they're confident he would be one of the top-rated offensive linemen this season. With upperclassmen in front of him, Castillo will redshirt for a year to grow an a run blocker.

Castillo chose KU over Mississippi State.

Kansas now has four offensive linemen in this year's class, with two more targets currently on the board.

While Schroeder isn't flashy, he's exactly what ASU coaches want in a Free Safety. With good speed, good zone coverage, and good ability to shed blocks, he'll be the eventual replacement for current FS Brandon Young. For now though, Schroeder will redshirt his first year on campus.

With the KU pass defense being a weakness this season, the coaching staff is glad to bring in someone with 4-star CB Clint Smith's talents. Smith brings size, speed and agility to the CB position. His only real weakness is that he sometimes tries to arm tackle and displays back technique, but even his tackling ability will likely be among the best on the Jayhawks defense next season. The real question for the Jayhawks coaching staff is if they can afford to redshirt him. With 5 CBs already on scholarship for next season, there may not be a spot for Smith. If there is, expect him to play a prominent role. If not, he'll redshirt this season and compete for the nickelback job next year.

Smith chose KU over South Carolina and San Diego State.

Want a wide receiver with size, speed and not much else? Meet Todd Jones. Jones is a 6'5" 4-star wide receiver that possesses great speed for his size. After playing basketball his first two seasons of high school, Jones is a bit raw in the finer points of running routes and fighting for the ball in traffic, but he has soft hands and will grow into the other skills with time. KU coaches were happy to find that he is able to leverage his size into a good first step and gets off the line of scrimmage quickly. With four seniors in front of him, expect Jones to redshirt next year and then work his way into the X/Z rotation in 2017.

Center was the only position of true need for the Jayhawks this season, with only one scholarship player for that position next year. While other targets like Will Marshall may end up filling the position long-term, the Jayhawks needed someone to be the backup center next season, and potentially in the future if offseason targets don't end up coming to Lawrence. Enter Cory Burks, a 2-star center with average blocking technique but below average agility. Burks will likely be the backup center next season, even though he may switch to right guard at some point in his career.

Burks received no other offers.

Washington was a late addition to the recruiting board after coaches realized the Dline may be a little short handed next season. Washington brings solid athleticism to the table despite his 6'-8" size. He's already an experienced player coming in as a Juco Junior.
