Notes:
-PS4 lead software sales.
-Best month in PlayStation Store (PSN) history.
-NPD: "for 8th generation software, NBA 2K16 had the best launch month ever for any Sports game". Note that NBA launched at the end of the month to boot.
-Animal Crossing sold nearly 115K (physical + digital)
-Mario Maker sold 445K physical + digital for a 500K+ LTD


Hardware:

PS4: Best selling console. Down from last year.
XB1: Down from last year.
Wii U: Up nearly 110% over August 2015.

Three of the top games are sports games and even NHL 16 makes the top 10. NBA 2K16 takes first place and was released on the 29th of September. So less than a week of sales.

So Destiny Taken King is somewhere between 450 and 650K, physical copies and bundles (they do count those). Of course the digital numbers for the game are pretty out there from what I have seen. So a shit load would be an accurate description for total copies sold.
