Sarki fell off the wagon. Checked into rehab today according to SB Nation.

IMO, it seemed like USC leaked some of the sordid details of Sark's issues to 1) justify firing him to possibly save Haden's job and 2) get Sark out of there following a very underachieving start to the season. I thought it was pretty tacky for the media (some in CA, some national) to be sharing those details. The guy has already been through enough and is trying to resolve his issues.

baseballplyrmvp

Haden is stepping down anyway after the season for health reasons.

He's had a rough past 6 months. Went through a divorce. Wife (now ex) got full custody of the kids, now lost his dream job. Hope he takes rehab seriously.

Trying to remember off the top of my head, but lymphoma if I remember right. Got diagnosed with it back in May. I guess the season ended up being more wear on him post-diagnosis than he expected or thought. Still sad all the way around. He had a hell of a career, sad to see it cut short early like this.

Iowa State has fired Paul Rhoads (http://www.si.com/college-football/2015/11/22/paul-rhoads-fired-iowa-state).

The move comes a day after Rhoads’s Cyclones blew a 21-point halftime lead to Kansas State, including allowing two touchdowns in the final 42 seconds, to fall 38–35. The defeat dropped Iowa State to 3–8 on the season and 2–6 in Big 12 play.

Rhoads was 32–54 in nearly seven seasons in Ames. After a 7–6 debut campaign in 2009, capped by an Insight Bowl victory over Minnesota, Rhoads never had another winning season. The program took a downturn over the past three seasons, winning just eight combined games. Iowa State failed to win a conference game last season.

The Cyclones got off to a decent start in 2015, winning two of their first four games. They also got a surprising 24–0 victory over Texas on Oct. 31. However, those occasionally bursts of success were surrounded by setbacks, and Iowa State failed to hang on to late leads in each of its past two games. The Cyclones led then-undefeated Oklahoma State 31–21 entering the fourth quarter before allowing the Cowboys to come back with two late touchdowns to win.

Lol. We don't even have a Head coach. Our OC keeps having moments when the light comes on, but it quickly gets shut off. Our DC, I'm convinced, is asking a magic 8 ball if the next play call will be a good one. Our o-line coach has made our linemen worse. Our DC and d-line coach aren't talking to each other because Wilcox wants to run a 2 gap and Wilson runs a 1 gap, and Wilcox cried like a little bitch to Sark and whined "Wilson isn't doing what I tell him to do!" We have one of Sarks drinking buddies who's a worthless position coach still on staff. Basically only 2 coaches are doing an average to good job right now.

No team in the country would be successful with the drama going on behind the scenes that we have. But, lol, if you're gonna take a shot at us for our recent loss, I'll just remind you of the embarrassing 55-19 practice we had against you. Lol

Here's my opinion on Les:

LSU will never play for a national title under him but they'll also never be garbage. His range is 8-11 wins yearly. Getting a new coach to out coach Saban is a tall order. It's a dice roll because LSU was garbage pre-Saban and could easily drop off again with the wrong guy.

No, he'll always lose to Saban. Saban defense kills pro-style offenses and with Miles not developing any QB ever with his run-run-run offense, he'll always play into Alabama's hands. Essentially, LSU will always win 11 regular season games at best.

Rich Rod would be stupid to leave the Arizona job. It has a solid upside, is becoming a consistent contender in the PAC12. SCAR has been slumping for the past few years, and doesn't look like a solid contender for the SEC East much less for SEC title. WVU is horribly inconsistent from year to year, I mean one year they look like contenders and the next year they fall flat on their asses.

Yeah, this late in the recruiting game, just 10 days before NSD, that is just a bullshit move on Monken's part. May as well have given the entire school the middle finger out the window as he drove away. Now Southern Miss has to try and find a new head coach with only 10 days left before the NSD and at a time when coaching staffs will eventually be working on what their strategies and game plans will be for the new season with spring practices just a couple months away.

Maybe Monken wants to be a NFL head coach some day, maybe he viewed this as he best chance to break into the NFL, but to jump ship this late, that's just shitty. I legitimately feel bad for the Southern Miss kids right now, having to deal with this crap this late into January, and only 10 days before the NSD, which I can guarantee is going to screw Southern Miss out of a number of potential recruit signings.

As of right now, the rumor mill has us promoting the DC or getting Alcorn St.'s coach as he used to also coach at USM.

From Bruce Feldman (http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/southern-miss-todd-monken-head-coaching-search-012416):

Some intriguing candidates: 40-year-old Chip Lindsey who just left USM this offseason after helping the program set several offensive records to become the OC at ASU. He turned down opportunities to become the head coach at Eastern Kentucky and Louisiana-Monroe.

Tyrone Nix, who was a former Golden Eagles linebacker and team captain is now the defensive coordinator at Middle Tennessee. The 43-year-old Nix spent a decade as a USM assistant.

Ole Miss co-OC Matt Luke, a native of nearby Gulfport, is highly regarded in coaching circles. A protege of David Cutcliffe and Hugh Freeze, Luke has proven to be one of the nation's top O-line coaches and helped the Rebels become an SEC powerhouse.

A wild card could be TCU offensive coordinator Doug Meacham, who has turned down some other opportunities but might be willing to listen to this one. The 51-year-old Texas native has helped the Horned Frogs produce consecutive top 5 offenses after they ranked 106th the year before he showed up.

Another possible candidate could be West Georgia head coach Will Hall. The 35-year-old Amory, Miss., native was a former star quarterback at North Alabama who won the Harlon Hill Trophy. He is a 24-5 in two seasons at D2 West Georgia and 49-16 in five seasons as a head coach. He led West Alabama to its first conference title ever before going to West Georgia.

I hate seeing smaller schools get fucked like this and treated like stepping stones. I know it's part of it but I still don't like it.

I know ASU has been used like this alot recently and it has to be maddening to support a small program and have to deal with constant change. That would drive me nuts and make me quit getting excited about a new coach.

I hope that Southern Miss can land on their feet and that they don't fade back to the level of recent years. They just got back on track and this happens.

That's not necessarily a good thing, depending on the candidate. Arkansas State faced the same exact situation in 1993 when Ray Perkins left us high & dry to become the Patriots OC 9 days before NSD.

We had little known Tommy Tuberville ready to sign on the dotted line to become our HC until we told him that we'd only have budget to sign 2 additional coaches and he'd have to keep the rest of the hold-overs. When Tuberville backed away, we signed our OL coach, John Bobo, to his last coaching job ever. In four years, he finished 13-30 and helped continue the darkest years of ASU football (1987-2010).

Good luck.

Baylor hires Jim Grobe (!) as acting head coach.

For a program surrounded by chaos, Baylor is making a very shrewd hire in tabbing Jim Grobe as its new head football coach.

The school on Monday announced that the former Wake Forest head coach has been named the acting head coach in Waco after Art Briles was fired last week in the wake of a sexual assault scandal. An introductory press conferrence is expected Friday. The Grobe hiring was first reported by 247 Sports.

We don't yet know what will happen to the rest of the Bears coaching staff, but an extensive house cleaning is in order. Sources have told FOX Sports to expect more firings in the athletic department over the coming weeks as Baylor continues to sort out the findings from Pepper Hamilton, the Philadelphia law firm it hired last September to conduct an investigation.

Courtesy: FOX Sports (http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/jim-grobe-baylor-bears-interim-head-coach-makes-perfect-sense-art-briles-053016)

I hope he cleans house but rumors are saying the staff are staying. Including Briles son and son in law. Both of which have broken NCAA rules in the past.

Legendary Baylor coach Grant Teaff told CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd that "it looks like" the Bears' entire staff will remain in place aside from Briles, at least in the short term. That means offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, Art's son, would once again lead the that side of the ball.

"The urgency right now is to protect recruiting and get everyone on board," Teaff added.

Grant Teaff is still a prick. The urgency should be getting your shit cleaned up and stop players from raping everyone on campus.
