View Full Version : College Football 2015 Week 2

SmoothPancakes
09-08-2015, 09:05 PM
The extended first week of the season wrapped up with Ohio State showing they are going to be a tough team to beat, while Virginia Tech showed that their offense may end up neutered as long as starting QB Michael Brewer is out with a broken collarbone.

Due to the first week extending all the way to Labor Day, we only have two days before jumping right back into week 2 action on Thursday night.

After putting up respectable fights vs. SEC competition (Kentucky, Miss. St.), UL-Lafayette and Southern Miss are hosting FCS schools. USM has Austin Peay and UL has Northwestern (The LA school, not the IL school).

Fun fact: Louisiana used to have 4 directional schools: Northeastern, Northwestern, Southeastern, and Southwestern. 2 schools got a name change. Northeastern became UL-Monroe and Southwestern became UL-Lafayette. Northwestern and Southeastern are against changing their names to UL-Natchitoches and UL-Hammond.

That's really nice. Well earned.

I'm assuming all that stuff that looked like a luxury hotel is where the big money donors and friends of the program go, right? It was so nice, I can't see the common layman having access.

Yep, I'll be there. Sitting with my dad and this week he has tickets for both his usual seats (40 yard line, under the home-side overhang) and also a loge box in front of the press box that allows you to go into the lower level of the press box (free good, drink, etc.)

Wow, ballsy play. That picture of the Virgina fan will become the new "dead" meme.

Already up.

A week after losing their starting HB for the season, the Irish lose their starting QB.

Malik Zaire out for the season with a broken ankle. :(

I recorded this myself with my phone so excuse the quality. Just wanted to show this play as I'm sure it won't be on any sports highlight show.

I love it! He's like "fuck you back jumper, I'm still getting this first down!"

Am I just completely misremembering things, or hasn't Notre Dame had a recent trend lately of losing QBs every season.

Surprised there's no mention of #6 Auburn almost shatting the bed against Jacksonville State. Losing 20-13 late, had to score a late TD and then win in overtime to escape with their asses intact. Nearly joined Michigan as the only AP top 10 teams to lose to an FCS opponent.

Missed opportunity for Arky State. Got inside the 10, but had to settle for a FG. Up 10-3 over Mizzou.

I watched the end of that game. Jacksonville St. got so conservative in their play calling that I said out loud, "When they lose, it's the coaches fault." They don't have the dudes to play "Not to lose." They had to be the aggressor late in the game and they played it way too safe.

Two years ago Golson was out but that was a self-imposed suspension.

Yeah, they pissed that one away. All that effort thrown away at the end. :smh:

Ah, okay. I was thinking there had been some QBs lost to injuries in there at one time or another.

OU did a heck of a job in shutting down the Vols in the 2rd half and they didn't lay down and quit. OU just out coach Tenn and the better team won.
