PH DPD: Week 11, 2017

We've advanced to Week 11. There is one UvU game this week, Florida at Texas. Expect to advance Thursday night after Papa and I play our game.

LSU handles Tennessee 58-32

The Tigers jumped out to a commanding 41-10 lead going into the half, but Tennessee was able to make the score a little better by scoring 22 unanswered points. The Volunteers sudden resurgence came after QB Josh Brown was knocked out of the game for the Tigers, which led to a flurry of turnovers by the incapable of throwing an accurate 10-yd pass Backup QB's for LSU. 4 straight turnovers from Collier and Walker led to points for the Volunteers.

Before leaving the game Brown put in a solid effort going 12-17 with 248 yards and 3 scores. He also had 96 yards rushing. He will be listed as Questionable heading into an important matchup with current #1 ranked Texas. Paul Randall helped carry the load literally as he ran for 200 yards on 16 carries with 3 scores. His very first carry of the game led to a 63-yard TD run which is also the first time the runner has had such a run.

John Davis chipped in with 124 yards and 2 scores. Sophomore TE Mark Brooks continues to play well adding 192 yards and 2 scores as well.

The real play came from the Defense, particularly OLB Corey Mitchell who terrorized the Tennessee LT all game. Almost as difficult as he was to block, was Volunteer RB Craig Hawkins was to tackle. Mitchell wasn't even suppose to play in the game due to injury, but was subbed in after the first play of the game. That led to a career day, helped by the Volunteer QB's willingness to keep trying to take off on his side. Mitchell finished with 12 tackles, 9 sacks!!, and 1 forced fumble. The LSU Defense has definitely missed him the past 3 games.

LSu plays host to Texas next week and hopes to have Brown ready to play for that game or it could be bad news for the Tigers.
