At the Linebacker position, Douglas is built for speed. In addition to his burst of speed chasing down the ball, he also has very good strength and decent abilities to make a play on the ball. Expect that he'll either redshirt his first year or be a role player, particularly on special teams.

After rebuilding an entire offensive line last year, Florida coaches knew they wanted to build upon that growth from last year. Myers is an excellent addition in the trenches with both good ability in pass blocking and run blocking. While he likely won't crack the starting lineup for 2015, he is expected to be the first man off the bench for the line, especially in the interior.

Along with Myers, Jones was targeted to add some depth to the offensive line. With good strength and pass blocking, Jones will be a very good blindside tackle.

Deon is the first of what hopefully will be a solid class of WR's for us this year. He could potentially start next year as we will be replacing 3 of our WR's, 2 of which are starters.

Chad is the QB of the future for LSU as he will definitely redshirt his first year on campus as he waits for Soph QB Jeff Mosley to graduate. With the time Chad will be even more prepared to take over the offense.

Another incoming Freshman who will be redshirted as he is behind a talented group of LB's already. Senior Reggie Blanks will be leaving, but redshirt Freshman Corey Mitchell will be primed to take that spot. The other 2 positions are locked up by Junior 2nd team All American Chase McIntyre and Junior Eric Williams who could possibly be one of the top 5 LB duos in the SEC. Justin will be a strong presence once he does see the field.

Brendan Owen is an 18 year old man-child and will immediately start at the NT position for the Gators. With senior Justin Johnson graduating after this year, Owen will slide in alongside fellow underclassman Scott Dixon and the defense will continue on without skipping a beat.

Expect the two to continue to dominate the middle of the DL for years to come.

Greene will come to Columbus after a decent high school career. Greene contributes in the return game, and is a good player with the ball in open space. But, in Columbus, Greene will likely not be on the offensive side of the ball. Ohio State needs Greene to shore up the defensive secondary at the cornerback position. Ohio State coaches hope that Greene can take a redshirt year and get a year in the system before being thrown on the field.

Greene was not targeted by any other school.

Another high school all-around athlete, Brad Parker will join the Buckeyes offensive attack, likely lining up at outside Wide Receiver in the Ohio State spread offense. Parker's size and height should create mismatches on the outside, and is exactly what Ohio State coaches want in a wide receiver.

Parker received offers from Kansas State and Florida, though Florida coaches would deny it publicly.

A sophomore JUCO, Lance Marshall will transfer to Ohio State after making waves early in his first year at Hutchinson Community College. Like Brad Parker, Marshall's size makes him ideal for the outside receiver position in Ohio State's offense, which is where he is expected to move next season. Marshall may take a redshirt year to make the position transition easier.

Ohio State beat Virginia Tech for Marshall's committment.

Martin joins Ohio State and is expected to add depth to the cornerback spot for Ohio State, which is filled with upperclassmen. Martin has top-tier acceleration, but only average speed for a cornerback, and is really lacking during three-cone drills. A redshirt should allow Martin's skills to improve before he has to take the field next season.

Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Miami of Ohio all offered scholarships to Martin.

Cory Rivera is yet another high school tight end that won't be playing that position for Ohio State. Rivera is expected to move to H-Back for the Buckeyes, taking his 6'2" frame into the backfield. He should be a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield, displaying extremely impressive hands for a high school player. Ohio State coaches will have to consider keeping him at TE, though it would leave a hole at their FB position to do so.

Miami of Ohio and Cincinnati also offered Rivera.

MLB

:2star:

Scruggs will be a good fit for the Buckeyes at middle linebacker, bringing speed and dependable tackling skills, which the Buckeyes are sorely lacking. Scruggs doesn't come without red flags, however, as he needs to improve his three-cone drill and his instinct for the ball. Expect Scruggs to sit for his freshman year before seeing the field as depth in 2016.

No other schools gave Scruggs a scholarship offer, though he did have interest from Tulane.

The last of the players to commit after Ohio State's upset victory over Wisconsin, Bryan McKinney will come to Columbus to take a place in the Buckeye's road-grading offensive line. McKinney might be the most balanced lineman to be on the Ohio State line, with above average skills in both pass and run blocking. McKinney may take a redshirt to add some time between himself and his fellow linemen, or he may see the field early in 2015.

No oher schools offered McKinney.

A consensus four-star athlete in high school, Desmond Hamby will transfer to Ohio State after two seasons with Blinn Junior College. Hamby doesn't bring imposing size to the middle linebacker position, but Ohio State fans may fondly remember Brian Rolle, a late-00s linebacker with similar size. What Hamby will bring is an instinct for the ball that is rare among linebacker recruits, and he will also be very reliable in finishing the play. Hamby's pure 40 time may not be impressive, but he should find himself in position to make a play more often than not.

Ohio State beat Penn State for Hamby's services.

WOOOOOOOOOOW! Plus 11 on the lineman? That's one helluva find!Yeah, that's one example where it frustrates me that the star ratings don't change post-scouting. I mean, I understand that would be a nightmare, so I'm not asking for it. But if I get 13 3-star players plus this guy, and someone else gets 14 3-star players, their class will (most likely) be rated higher, just because my 72 OVR lineman isn't a 3-star.

Oh well, just sour grapes. He was a great find, especially with absolutely no competition from the CPU.

I think the main reason he had +11 was his STR rating went up from like a D to an 80.

While Moore isn't ready to go right out of high school, he does have the base skill set that will only get better with time. With good speed and great agility along with a decent ability to tackle, he'll eventually become a great player.

For now though, his coverage ability is a bit lacking so he'll redshirt his first year on campus, though expect him to contribute quite a bit his second year.

Like Moore, Burch doesn't jump off the page as a stud, but if you look further, you see that he has the skills (albeit under-developed) that you look for in a star player.

With great speed, good height, and good ability to get off the line, find his spot and make the tough catch in traffic, he just needs time, especially to work on his catching ability in general. However, after a year sitting on the bench waiting for his time, he'll at the very least be a solid contributor in the return game.

Grant signs with the Gators after being his school's all-everything in High School. With excellent height, speed, agility, and acceleration, Grant can play just about any skill position on the field. The Florida coaches are debating on whether he would be best used as a Free Safety playing center field or making him an oversized slot Receiver.

With poor ability to get off a jam at the line, expect him to play Free Safety and likely start as a true freshman.

David Cox made the most recent commitment to Ohio State, committing after the Buckeyes season-defining victory on the road over Michigan State. Cox is similar in mold to current Buckeyes star Marcus Avery, though he comes in as a more raw project. Cox will be redshirted next year, though the Buckeyes are still expected to take a QB in the class of 2016 as well.

Cox received interest from Georgia Tech, but was not offered a scholarship.

A defensive backfield star that will give the Buckeyes an instant upgrade at cornerback, Thomas received surprisingly little interest from other schools. Thomas was a 4-star prospect out of high school and has spent the last year in Junior College. His coverage skills will be a boon to the Ohio State defense, which has suffered some breakdowns as the season has progressed.

Thomas received late scholarship offers from Stanford and Washingon, but Ohio State had already built a considerable lead.

Another week, another offensive lineman joins Ohio State. The ninth offensive lineman to commit to Coach Jeff HCross in two seasons, Parrish may step onto campus this fall as one of the best run blockers available to the Buckeyes. Parrish has a nice balance between run blocking and pass blocking skills. His agility makes him a candidate to move to Tackle, which is probably where he will play for the Buckeyes.

Parrish also received an offer from Minnesota.

Bobo was a late target for the Buckeyes when they found themselves in need of another lineman in this class. Much like Parrish, who committed the same week, Bobo has a nice blend of pass and run blocking skills, and will be one of the top pure blockers on the Ohio State offensive line as soon as he steps onto campus. Expect Bobo to stay inside at Guard and threaten for a starting position.

Bobo planned to take official visits to Colorado and Old Dominion, but his visit to Columbus convinced him to commit early.

The star of this year's class, Nate Moore will be Ohio State's starting center next season. Moore's skills, nearly across the board, are better than any other skill possessed by any other lineman current wearing scarlet and gray. While Ohio State has a competent center in Joshua Newman, Moore's talents at the pivot point on the line cannot be ignored. Expect Newman to slide next door to Guard in order to make room for Moore.

Moore took an official visit to Notre Dame, but, shocking all analysts, did not receive an offer during the visit.

Skip, the fact that you don't have the ability to scout 100% in one week is going to put you behind the 8 ball. I wouldn't have found most of these guys if I didn't have it.

I'm at 25% I guess

Since my coach is already behind in coach level I've been playing catch up on skills.

All my points have been put into recruiting just not scouting yet.

JeffHCross
10-09-2014, 03:06 PM
I know, Skip. And I know you put your early points in areas different than I did, and that's your choice. I'm just saying that, IMO, not having scouting at 100% makes it harder to find players because you have to take a risk. I was able to find players (the 72 OVR G and 79 OVR C) in mid-season. I got them, in part, because of perfect timing. If I had waited another week to find them (whether due to timing or scouting), I may not have signed either one, let alone both. I've got another guy on my board that fits the same description, but Snoop and I are in a battle for him.

skipwondah33
10-09-2014, 03:13 PM
Then too not alot of players are interested in LSU. Didn't win but 1 game first year.

The recruiting portion of coach skill I have all but 3 of my points taken in. Not sure why I've missed scouting or just neglected to use it, but again the players I'd like to look at either not interested or I'm thousands of points behind.

A regional prospect that stayed under the radar for most of the year, Brooks will join Ohio State to provide some more talent on the defensive line. Brooks' strength will be promising in the Buckeyes' 3-4 defense, where strength is a premium for the defensive line. Brooks has also demonstrated good technique in getting off blocks, which will also be a upgrade to the current d-line.

Brooks was scheduled to take an official visit to Happy Valley next week, but couldn't resist the pull of Columbus.

Travis Woodard joins the team after being an LB/DE tweener in high school. He's too small to be a DE in college but with good strength and rush moves, he could play as either a 3-4 rush OLB or in the middle of a 4-3. He also adds a good base ability to get after the football and bring the ball carrier down.

Brandon comes in with some solid physical measurables. Given our depth at the OLB spot he will redshirt his first year to give him time to develop more. If he can improve one some things to go with his physical abilities we could be looking at a very solid LB for years to come.

Another recruit who will be redshirted next season due to our depth. The time should suit him well hopefully allowing time to improve on some skills. Though when is available to play it may be a tough time cracking the lineup.
