Prospect: Jaymo
Age: 18
Born: Vancouver, BC, Canada
Primary position: 3B
Secondary position 1B
Preferred number: 5
Throw: left
Bat: right
18 year old Canadian sensation Jaymo took his game to the prospects game and it didn't go well. The International squad was routed in all three games and Jaymo was awful committing 5 errors and only having three hits and 1 rbi.
Jaymo was expected to be drafted in the 3rd round but fell all the way to the 7th round where he was chosen the 12th pick by the San Diego Padres organization. It was a difficult pill to swallow but the honour of being drafted forced Jaymo to sign with the Padres. Jaymo was then immediately assigned to AA San Antonio Missions to begin his ball career.
The Padres are a great starting organization as they lack depth at third base. With time Jaymo could achieve greatness. However, he needs to work on hitting and fielding in a major way. Good luck Jaymo!

April 3, 2014: Jaymo gets his first career start playing 3B in game one of the season. The Missions go on the road to Springfield to take on the Cardinals. Jaymo is batting 8th...
In the 2nd Jaymo grounds out on his first at bat.
In the 5th Jaymo strikes out...
In the 7th Jaymo grounds out
Jaymo had no opportunities to field the ball. At the end of the game the manager blasted jaymo on the bench. Springfield destroys the Missions 7-1. The crowd of 6,180 loved the game... maybe jaymo should have went back to school???

Looking forward to seeing this develop. That was a ballsy move to sign after being taken in the 7th round.
In my RTTS, I was taken in the 5th Round by the Twins so I went the 4-year University route, re-entered the draft at age 22 and was taken 1-13 by the Giants.
I applaud you for going pro under the circumstances that you did.

The next day in the 2nd inning, Jaymo gets his first hit, a single. Inning three he gets another single. Jaymo ended going 2 for 5. The Missions win their first of the year, 8-6.

I figure it's the only way I will learn... just play as much as I can. I'm a 53 ovr and a D prospect... It's ugly but I will learn.

Yeah that was the position I played many, many years ago. My first ever t-ball and then baseball coach put me there because (his words: "that's the only spot we can hide you."). lol:D I played five years and I honestly don't recall making more than 10 plays on the corner...

After some horrendous bball by Jaymo a trip to the Midland RockHounds has been fruitful. Jaymo had his best game of this young season recording three hits at bat, including two doubles in game three of the series. Game four I had a great day fielding but no hits. Two steps forward one step back...

This game is like a psychologically abusive girlfriend... it amazing and drives you crazy all at the same time. Jaymo on a real high followed up with a massive slump of three straight games without a hit and then two straight games riding the bench. Finally a hit... and then get picked off going for 2nd base... :bang:

The end of the first month and it has been a LONG month for Jaymo. Due to poor play the backup #B Dan Chavez is getting more playing time.
Stats:

Avg: .215

OBP: .215
SLG: .253
FLD: .714
BELOW EXPECTATIONS!!! (55 ovr adjusted 50 ovr) Potential D
The month has also been bad for the Missions as they sit at 13-13. However, they are only one game back of the leading RoughRiders.

Game two versus Corpus Cristi... Jaymo crushes a ball right into the pitcher (McNamara) and nearly takes his head off. The pitcher had to leave the game. Didn't help though as Jaymo continues to show he is way out of his league.
jaymo76
07-23-2014, 03:17 AM
finally a breakout game for Jaymo. In the 4th inning the Missions put up 9 runs on the Corpus Cristi Hooks. Jaymo bats twice in the 4th and records to hits and a couple of rbi. The Missions ended up winning 11-0 and recorded 18 hits.
Jaymo:
AB: 5
Hits: 4 (2 doubles)
Runs: 1
RBI: 4
The only blemishes were a fielding error and being caught trying to steal 3rd. What a game! ... finally!!!

Finally the big moment. On a trip to Midland versus the RockHounds, Jaymo hits his first ever professional homerun. A huge blast to left field and two RBI on the dinger. Jaymo's hit streak moves to three games and the Padres organization believe he is performing to expectation. However, backup 3rd baseman Dan Chavez is hitting the ball well and playing more and more games. Jaymo needs to keep this hit streak going.

Question, my hitting at home is dreadful yet on the road it's pretty decent. At home I think I am only hitting .180 but on the road I am something like .311. Two other people who I follow have reported similar issues. What's the deal? Has anyone else had more difficulty at home versus on the road?

Well at the 40 game mark the San Antonio Missions are 22-18 and have a 2 game lead in the division. Jaymo is on a five game hitting streak, with a .362 avgerage over that time. The manager has moved him to number three spot in the batting roation for the next game. Though sadly the next game is against Frisco and Ty Baker. Jaymo has struck out three times to Baker on three appearances.
steelerfan
07-24-2014, 05:06 AM
Sounds like some good progress. Now you jusr need to knock the crap out of Baker. :)
jaymo76
07-24-2014, 05:16 AM
Damn you Ty Baker!!! 2ko's and a ground out. However, in the 9th with 2 men on and 2 out, Jaymo hits a single against closer Rowen. The hit drives in the game tying run. That makes the hit streak six games. The Missions go on to lose the game in 13 innings and their struggles with the RoughRiders continue.

Alright a quick check-in. Jaymo has made it to the 30 game mark and he is currently on a hot streak, recording hits in 7 consecutive games. After a terrible starts things have much improved.
Games: 30
AB: 131
Avg.: .271
OBP.: .273
SLG.: .351
Hits: 36
HR: 1
RBI: 14
FLD%: .784
Jaymo has especially been successful versus the Corpus Cristi Hooks as he is batting .333. On the other end of the spectrum the Springfield Cardinals have been difficult with Jaymo hitting just .211
Backup 3B Dan Chavez continues to be on a hot streak as well. Is there room for both on this roster???

Son of a...
In the Missions first trip to NW Arkansas, the team in dead-last in the Texas League. Their pitching is atrocious and Jaymo was riding an 8 game hit streak. In the first game Jaymo hit a homerun with on man on in the 9th to ensure the win. However he also had two strike outs. Game two and game three Jaymo went 0-5 in both games and recorded another 5 strike outs in total. In addition to the end of the hit streak at nine games, Jaymo's bat has gone ice cold... he needs a 'slump breaker'...
jaymo76
07-25-2014, 02:45 AM
The NW Arkansas Naturals continue to mess with Jaymo. Another series and another terrible batting experience. Jaymo has faced the Naturals five times this season and is hitting a paltry .130 (23 AB, 1HR, 3hits, 3RBI, 9 strike outs). The Naturals are in dead last but continue to destroy jaymo's confidence! Thankfully he doesn't play them too often...
jaymo76
07-25-2014, 03:08 AM
Huge game as Jaymo records his first ever four hit game. Jaymo has been feasting on Arkansas Travelers pitchers. The May 30th outing was especially tasty as Jaymo had three singles and one double. Jaymo follows that game up with a three hit outing (all singles). Versus the Travelers this season Jaymo is hitting an amazing .647 (11 hits, 1 HR, 3 RBI on 17 AB).

Honestly I don't know...??? Maybe it had something to do with my progression through "beginner" levels? My hitting is getting better but I had a slump and my ratings dropped. My fielding is still really bad and it looks like I have little chance of moving to AAA this season.
I am a 60 ovr but still D potential and I am meeting expectations. The thing is though that the 3B in AAA El Paso is a stud. I was only a 7th round pick...

Jaymo has another milestone... July 4th... his first ever triple versus the RoughRiders. Not a great game but a milestone is a milestone. That makes six games for the current hitting streak.
jaymo76
07-25-2014, 05:28 AM
Entering the June 10th game in Corpus Cristi, Jaymo has, for the first time in his AA career, a batting average of.300. Jaymo's fielding % has also improved to .808 which is a season high. However, CC has had Jaymo's number of late and after a poor game Jaymo goes back below .300. With one hit though the hit streak goes to seven games.
jaymo76
07-25-2014, 07:02 PM
A new series begins at home to the Midland RockHounds and Jaymo stretches his hitting streak to eight games. More importantly though, jaymo gets his first ever player of the game nomination. Jaymo had three hits on five attempts. Moat important though, down 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th inning with one out and two on, Jaymo goes yard to right field and blasts a 348 foot bomb for a three run homer (4th on the season). The Missions win 5-3 and regain first place in their division.
jaymo76
07-26-2014, 03:40 AM
The hit streak ends at 11 games for Jaymo. The Midland RockHounds pitchers held Jaymo to 0/4 in batting attempts. The next series see's Corpus Cristi come to town. Game one is scheduled for Father's Day. Pitching for the Hooks is Andres Palmeiro. Jaymo has not had a lot of success against him...
jaymo76
07-26-2014, 04:22 AM
422 feet to centre field... that is Jaymo's longest homerun. A solo shot in the 9th makes it 5-4 for the Hooks. However, Jaymo's shot is followed by a dinger from McNair to tie the game. The Missions win the game in the 10th. Jaymo is slumping pretty bad right now but hopefully this will change things.
jaymo76
07-26-2014, 04:32 AM
That 6-5 comeback win over the Hooks was huge. As it turns out the victory allowed the San Antonio Missions to clinch the TL South division as the first half of the season comes to an end.

And just like that the first half of the season is over. On the last day of play before the all-star break, the Missions defeat the RockHounds to secure a one game lead in the division and as a result, before the 1st half winner for the division while the Rockhounds clinch the division.

The 10 games before the slump I was hitting like .426. Once a hitting slump begins I find it very difficult to get out of it. I swing at everything. Curves and sliders continue to give me the most trouble. A full season at San Antonio is needed to continue to develop but for sure I want to get to AAA next season. However, long-term I don't think there is a future with the Padres organization as they have as lot of depth at 3rd.

The 2nd half of the season started very slow for Jaymo. Tulsa was not a friendly stop on the road for Jaymo or the Missions. The first three games were brutal. However, in game four Jaymo rediscovered his batt and went 3/4 with one RBI. The next series started with a visit to Springfield. This teams players were ice cold and Jaymo and the Missions went to town. Jaymo ened up going 3/5 including a double, a homer, an RBI and a run scored. In so doing, Jaymo eared for the 2nd time this season, player of the game recognition.

I think it would be a great way to sum things up. I may actually turn the mic on and discuss the situation. FYI I started my Blue Jays franchise last night. I played a few games in spring training and am about to start the season. I still don't know how you did it playing all of those games, even with quick counts. I haven't decided yet if I am going to do a Blue Jays post as I don't know how much time I will put into that mode.

Game 67 of Jaymo's career with AA San Antonio Missions and as Jaymo is having an excellent fielding game... he pulls his MCL. Technically it's an MCL sprain so it could be much worse. He is placed on the 15 day disabled list. The injury is expected to have him out 2-3 weeks.
The injury occured with Jaymo on a hot streak for hitting. The Mission currently sitting at 10-4 in the 2nd half are leading the TL South standings. They will really miss Jaymo's bat as backup ## Dan Chavez is not living up to expectations.

That was a long injury. Jaymo ended up missing a total of 19 games. Those are valuable training points he will not get back. His first game back versus the Corpus Cristi Hooks was a hit fest. However, Jaymo struggled badly going 1 for 6. He actually had the least amount of hits of anyone for the Missions who batted. Regardless, the Missions won 11-5 and as a result have a 3 game lead on 2nd place Midland RockHounds.
Dan Chavez has been on a hot streak in Jaymo's absence... Jaymo needs to respond to keep his job secure.
jaymo76
07-28-2014, 03:40 AM
Jaymo's 2nd game back has him facing his nemesis, Frisco pitcher Ty Baker. The at bats are poor as per usual and Jaymo goes 1/5 for the game. The competition, aka Dan Chavez, playing 2nd base today cranks the game winning homerun. Jaymo only has 25 games left this season to impress everyone. Good luck Jaymo!

Jaymo continues to obliterate Arkansas Travelers pitchers. In a recent trip to Arkansas in Jaymo's first two games he has six hits in nine at bats (including one homerun) and five RBI. Plus a first, Jaymo was intentionally walked with two men on and one man out. The commentators specifically mentioned Jaymo was too hot to pitch too. Always flattering to see that level of respect. The Missions continue to be on fire as they have a four game lead in their division.

Game 74 for Jaymo and completion of the series versus the Travelers. The bad news is the Missions were destroyed 11-3. However, the good news is that Jaymo recored his 99th and then 100th hit of his career/season.

What is the deal with the NW Arkansas Naturals??? Jaymo continues to struggle against them.
Bat 1: strike out
Bat 2: fly out
Bat 3: single
Bat 4: pop out
Bat 5: ground out
At bats 2,4 and 5 had runners in scoring position. The rest of the team combined for 15 hits (Chavez had three hits and two RBI). Lucky for Jaymo it didn't cost the team. Jaymo's batting % against the Naturals now sits at an embarrassing .143 with only 4 hits in 28 at bats.
jaymo76
07-30-2014, 02:46 AM
Tommy Tan, LP for the Naturals does Jaymo a big favour... he pitches! Jaymo gets two hits in two at bats including one for an RBI. After being relieved by Duncan Park Jaymo still has some good luck as he gets on base from an infield error. Jaymo then gets into scoring position and is brought home two hitters later. The last at bat is a pop out but regardless this is the most success Jaymo has had versus the Naturals. The Missions win 5-2.

Monster game for Jaymo as the Missions return home to take on the Travelers. Missions win 6-3. Jaymo was player of the game as he was involved in all the runs for the Missions.

After a beautiful streak of hitting, Jaymo is officially off the wagon. The Midland Rockhounds came to town for a four game series and to say the least, it was a brutal series.

Game 2: Midland 7 San Antonio 6
Game 3: Midland 7 San Antonio 6
Game 4: Midland 6 San Antonio 2
Jaymo went 4 for 15 in the series including 5 strike outs and two fielding errors. The only highlight was a sack fly RBI. Two of the games Jaymo was hitless.
Interestingly enough, Padres backup 3rd baseman Chase Headley is on the 15 day DL with a fractured forearm. He will be out at least 23 days. Strange that the Padres have chosen not to call up Ray Cortes from El Paso. Jaymo was hoping to get a few at bats at the AAA level before the end of the season. Oh well, three games left in the regular season versus Corpus Cristi.

Things go from bad to worse for Jaymo as his bat is as cold as his confidence. Going into Corpus Cristi for game one, Jaymo's performance may have been the weakest of his season?
Four at-bats:
1. pop fly
2. ground out
3. strike out
4. pop fly
Regardless, the Missions hold on for a 3-2 win. Jaymo needs to get his game back before the playoffs start!

The Labour Day battle... The announcers have been telling the audience that the Missions are not happy with Jaymo's play as of late. Jaymo's confidence is clearly faltering as in the first inning with two on and nobody out Jaymo had a bad, bad four pitch strike out.
Things improve a little in the 3rd inning as Jaymo hits a sac fly for an RBI and the first run of the game. However another strike out in the 4th with the bases loaded for Jaymo ends yet another inning. Maybe things are looking up? Jaymo gets a single in the 6th and drives in an RBI to put the Missions up 4-0. The 8 starts with a fly out to 3rd. Maybe the slump isn't over?
The Missions end up winning the game 6-0 but Jaymo did struggle quite a bit. With one game left before the conclusion of the regular season, Jaymo needs to figure things out ASAP!

Shocker alert! Shocker alert!
On September 4th, Jaymo was called in to talk to the San Antonio Missions coaching staff. Jaymo figured it would be about his mini slump. However, Jaymo was informed that he will be getting a raise and now be paid $75,000 per season, up from the current $30,000. Jaymo was then told to pack up his things as effective immediately he was being sent up to the AAA affiliate El Paso Chihuahuas and El Paso's current 3rd baseman and top prospect Ray Cortes was being sent down to the AA Missions.
Jaymo was also informed that he needed to be in El Paso before 7:05pm as game 1 of the playoffs for El Paso starts then. Jaymo will be hitting clean-up in his first AAA series. The Chihuahuas will be taking on the Sacramento River Cats in a five game series in PCL playoff action.

Game 1: Sacramento at El Paso (L Drew pomeranz vs. L Corey Luebke)
Jaymo's AA season stats were pretty good.
.314 batting avg.
45 runs
126 hits
12 hr
66 rbi
400 at bats
But will any of that matter in AAA playoff baseball? Jaymo is the youngest player on the El Paso roster and he has the least experience. Jaymo is very nervous but excited!
Inning 1 Jaymo gets his first chance and it's memorable. With one man on and two out Jaymo knocks it out of the park on the 2nd pitch to give El Paso a 2-0 lead. Wow!
Inning 3 Jaymo pops out on a six pitch at bat.
Inning 5 Jaymo hits his second homer on the game. Two men on make the score 6-2 El Paso. However the inning is massive for El Paso as when all is said and done the score is 12-3!
Inning 7 Jaymo strikes out on a pretty poor pitch
Inning 8 jaymo hits a double with two out. The inning ends with no further runs.
Final score El Paso 12 Sacramento 3
The player of the game, Jaymo (5 AB, 3 hits 2HR, 1double, 5 RBI)
What a phenomenal start to Jaymo's AAA career!!!

Yeah I feasted on the lefties. However my two at bats that I struggled with were right handed pitchers. I have owned lefties all season. If memory serves it's right handed starters for the rest of the series.
As to the game... shocking! I never saw it coming. There must be something about El Paso that works for me?

Game 2: Sacramento vs. El Paso (RHP Josh Lindblom vs. RHP Casey Kelly)
Jaymo is still on cloud nine from last night. Currently he is batting .600! He is also slotted in at the clean-up position again and with good reason. Can the magic continue in game two?
The game starts poorly for El Paso and it's 1-0 by the bottom of the first. Jaymo gets to the plate but his bat is interrupted by a pickoff at 1st to end the inning.
Inning 2... bat 1.5 Jaymo flys out to centre-field
Inning 4: another popp fly to lead off the inning. Where is the magic tonight?
Inning 6: deep smash to centre-field but Guererro has an amazing over the should catch. Jaymo is still hitless and the game is still tied 1-1.
Inning 8: Jaymo is back at the plate with 1 on and one out. He has struggled badly at bat tonight. Can he deliver in the clutch? Sacramento has a 2-1 lead. Jaymo delivers a big at bat as he has a drop single and the lead runner makes it to 3rd. However thr next batter Tommy Medica creates a double play with his at bat and with that the inning is over.
The River Cats closer comes in and shuts the door and El Paso's bottom half of the order go down in order. Sacramento wins the game 2-1 and with that the series is tied 1-1 heading to Sacramento tomorrow.
Jaymo ends the game 1 for 4. He only faced 11 pitches and needless to say was not happy about his performance. On the bright-side though he had an excellent fielding game.

Game 3: El Paso @ Sacramento (RHP Josh Johnson vs. RHP Marcus Walden)
*best of five series tied 1-1*
Inning 2: Jaymo leads off the inning by grounding out to the 3rd baseman. However his teammates step up and get a 2-0 lead before the inning is up.
Inning 3: with two outs Jaymo picks up on Walden's high pitch strategy. Jaymo makes great contact and has a line drive single. However, the following batter, Medicao strikes out and the top of the 3rd inning is over. It's still 2-0 El Paso.
Inning 5: with two on and two out Jaymo takes the plate. Walden throws a wild pitch to move the runners to 2nd and 3rd but Jaymo pops out to end the inning. He is really kicking himself as Sacramento explodes in the bottom of the inning to take a commanding 4-2 lead.
Inning 7: Jaymo takes the plate following a 3 run HR from DH Chris Denorfia. The Chihuahuas have a 5-4 lead. Following a pitching change, Jaymo hits a single, his second of the game. Jaymo gets to third on a double byWill Venable. The following batter, Steve Gomez drives home both Jaymo and Venable and El Paso goes up 7-4.
Inning 9: with 1 out and nobody on Jaymo takes the plate. El Paso is still on top 7-4. Jaymo hits an infield single as he
out runs the throw from third. That gives him three hits on the night. However, Jaymo is caught stealing on a 3-2 pitch with two out and the inning is over.
The River Cats make a real charge in the 9th but come up one run short and El Paso holds on to win 7-6. Each team had 12 hits. Jaymo played a fair game as he had three singles and scored one run.
With that El Paso takes a 2-1 series lead with game 4 going tomorrow night.

Game 4: El Paso @ Sacramento (RHP Don Roach vs. RHP Arnold Leon)
* El Paso leads the series 2-1
The Chihuahuas can wrap up the series with a win. Jaymo in the clean-up spot is batting .500 for the series. He had three hits last game but felt his effort could have been better. Let's hope today he shines. This is the biggest moment thus far in his young career.
Inning 1: Jaymo goes up against a formidable 5 pitch pitcher in Arnold Leon. With one on and two out, Jaymo hits a line drive on the first pitch. With two on and two out Medica strikes out and the inning is over.
Inning 4: Jaymo leads off the inning by grounding out. In the bottom of the inning the River Cats take a 2-0 lead.
Inning 6: Jaymo strikes out with nobody on and two away. The inning is over and Leon is cruising. The score remains 2-0 Sacramento.
In the bottom of the 8th Jaymo makes a huge lay with the bases loaded to end the inning. The score remains 2-0 heading into the 9th
Inning 9: Jaymo strikes out and the game is over. Leon has 13 strike out over nine innings. He only gave up 4 hits. The guy was awesome... player of the game as well.
The series is now tied 2-2 with game five going tomorrow night.

Game 5: El Paso @ Sacamento (RHP Burch Smith vs. LHP Drew Pomeranz 0-1)
* series tied 2-2
Sacramento is running a 4 pitcher rotation so Drew Pomeranz gets the start for his 2nd game of the series. He was destroyed in game 1. His ERA is 14.54!!! Will Jaymo have his number again?
Inning 1: Jaymo takes the plate with 3 on and nobody out. It's already 1-0 El Paso as Ramirez doubled to centre to score Rodriguez. Jaymo has a terrible at bat as he pops out to 2nd. The next two batters do the same and the inning is over.
Inning 3: Jaymo takes the plate with 1 on and nobody out. The socre is now 2-0 El Paso as Ramirez drives in Denorfia for a run. Jaymo hits a nice single on his second at bat. Venable hits into a double play and the top half of the inning is over.
Inning 5: Denorifia hits a two run home in the top of the 5th. Te score is now 4-0 El Paso. Jaymo takes the plate with 1 on and 1 out. right hander Pedro Peralta is now into the game. Jaymo strikes out with an embarrassing at bat... Sacramento comes stroming back in the bottom of the inning to make the score 4-3 El Paso
Inning 7: Jaymo hits a single with one man out. Men are on first and second with one out. Jaymo gets to third as Medica hits a nice double. Ramirez score and with one out it's now 5-3 El Paso. Abao comes out of the bull en and the lefty walks Venable to load the bases. Steve Gomez fouls out to the catcher for out number two. Jaymo remains at third. Romeo Ayala then strikes out with the bases loaded.
Inning 9: Jaymo takes the plate with 1 out and nobody on. Jaymo pops out to centre field and the inning ends quickly. Sacramento goes down 1...2...3...
El Paso wins!!! El Paso wins!!! El Paso wins!!!
El Paso takes the series 3-2 with a hard fought 5-3 win.
Jaymo had a statistically strong series but looks an be deceiving. That first game was a monster but for the rest of the series he was average at the plate.

It's funny because after spending the entire season with San Antonio I really wanted to be there for the Texas League Championship series. It's great playing for the PCL championship but I don't know my teammates, I don't know the opposition pitchers, etc. Until today I didn't even know Nashville had a PCL team! I also really would love another shot at Tulsa as a few of their pitchers had me flustered.
But alas, it is what it is. I am going to do everything in my power to win the PCL Championship and cheer on the San Antonio Missions. IMO the Missions are the far better team and should win the series. As for Nashville, I know nothing about them so we will see how it goes.

Welcome to game 1 of the PCL Championship series
Game 1: El Paso @ Nashville (LHP Cory Luebke 1-0, 2.25 era vs. RHP Andres Bautista (0-0, 1.42 era)
It's a beautiful night in Nashville as the PCL championship series kicks off. With a deep, deep park (345 at the corners and 420 out to centre the long ball may be limited in the two games in Nashville. Andres Bautista is chucking for the Sounds and his numbers are beastly good. The Chihuahuas need to get on him early.
Inning 1: two on and 1 out. Jaymo has a base hit to load the bases. A wild pitch on the next batter brings a runner home for the lead (1-0) and Jaymo gets to second base. El Paso then gets a 2-0 lead on a solid single from Tommy Medica. Jaymo gets to third still with 1 out. Steve Gomez strikes out... two gone. Brian Chang hits a double and drives Jaymo and Medica home to make it 4-0 El Paso. The Sounds get to back in the bottom of the inning to make it 4-2 El Paso.
Inning 3: with one on and one out, Jaymo flies out. It was a great hit but sadly went right to the outfielder.
Inning 5: the score remains 4-2 as Jaymo leads off the inning. Bautista has really settled down. Jaymo pops up and the inning goes nowhere.
Inning 7: the score is still 4-2. Jaymo takes the plate with two on and one out. RHP Jose De La Torre has taken the mound. Jaymo smashes a line drive for a single and drives in a run to make the score 5-2 El Paso. Medica is walked and jaymo moves to 2nd base. Gomez pops out for the 2nd out. Brian Chang hits a double and drives Jaymo in from 2nd. That makes the score 6-2. The hits and runs keep coming. EL Paso scored six runs this inning to make the score 10-2.
Inning 8: Jaymo now faces lefty Wei Chung Wang. With two on and one out, Jaymo gets terrible umping... and is called on strikes, which even the announcers questioned.
Closer Joe Miller comes in to shut the door. The final score, El Paso 10 Nashville 2.
El Paso takes a 1-0 series lead with game two going tomorrow night.
Jaymo ends with 2 hits, 2 runs and 1 RBI. Luebke had a strong game going 8 full innings, and having 8 strike outs. Brian Chang was player of the game, going 3/4 with 4 RBI and scoring a run.

San Antonio 2 Tulsa 1.
It was another big defensive struggle. 2nd baseman Almanza drove in two runs in the first inning and that was enough for the win. Cordova went six strong innings for the win and Brown came in for his 2nd save of the post season.
San Antonio leads the series 2-0. Game three goes tomorrow in Tulsa.

One game at a time my friend. We had a monster game versus Sacramento in game one and that went five games. That being said I totally want to get the win. On a personal note the first ever PCL game I saw live (and my first ever live baseball game) was the Vancouver Canadians versus the Calgary Cannons. Getting the PCL championship would be special as Vancouver only has single A ball now and the PCL is ancient, ancient history around these parts.

Game 2: El Paso @ Nashville (RHP Josh Johnson, 0-0 7.20era vs. RHP Hiram Burgos, 0-0 3.00era)
*El Paso leads the best of five, one game to zero.
Josh Johnson looks to redeem himself after a rough outing in Sacramento. If the Chihuahuas win this they will be in the drivers seat as the series switches to El Paso next game.
Inning 1: First pitch of the game and Will Venable jacks one out of the park for a 1-0 lead for El Paso. When Jaymo takes the plate there are 2 out and nobody on. Jaymo grounds out after a mediocre at bat.
Inning 3: Eric Rodriguez starts the inning with a homer to make the score 2-0 El Paso. Jaymo makes solid contact but lines out to centre-field. The Sounds score one in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-1 El Paso.
Inning 6: Jaymo gets on base with an unforced error (E6). Jaymo gets to 2nd base on a walk to Medica. RHP Jeremy Jeffress comes into the game after nearly 100 pitches through six innings. The inning comes to an end as the next two batters pop out. It's still 2-1 El Paso.
Inning 8: the score is still 2-1 El Paso. Jaymo takes the plate with one out and nobody on. And again a big pop out and no hit to show for it...
The Sounds have a big 9th inning and with two outs score two runs to win the game 3-2. El Paso cannot believe they lost this game... they are shocked!!! Livingston was asked to save the game and instead loses it.
Jaymo played a horrendous game at the plate going 0-4. This type of effort will get you send back down to AA.
The series is tied 1-1.

Game 3: Nashville @ El Paso (RP Ken Fong 1-0 2.25era vs. RHP Casey Kelly, 0-0, 2.45era)
* series tied 1-1
The series switches to El Paso for, if necessary, the last three games. Jaymo was in a bad hitting funk last game. Let's hope he is out of it today.
Inning 1: with two out Jaymo hits a single. One batter later Medica has a double to drive in a runner. El Paso goes up 1-0 with Jaymo on 3rd. However, Gomez strikes out to end the inning.
Inning 3: it's now 4-2 Nashvile. Jaymo grounds out with another bad at bat.
Inning 4: one out bases loaded... Jaymo pops up into an infield fly out... damn!!! The inning is over. jaymo blew it and he knows it.
Inning 6: Jaymo goes up with two on and hits a sac fly to score the runner from third. Not hit but an RBI and that makes it 4-3 Nashville
Inning 9: Nashville has a big inning to make it 7-4. Jaymo takes the plate with one out and nobody on. Jaymo breaks the bat and is out at first.
The final score is Nashville 7 El Paso 4. The series is now 2-1 for Nashville.
Jaymo played a weak game. maybe they brought him to AAA too soon? That is two straight games of poor hitting and poor at-bat decisions.
jaymo76
08-03-2014, 01:48 AM
Game 4: Nashville @ El Paso (Andres bautista, 0-1, 3.97era vs. LHP Cory Luebke, 2-0, 2.25era)
*Nashville leads the series 2-1
Nashville can win it all tonight. Will the Chihuahuas step up? Will Jaymo recover from two disastrous outings? Jaymo has been moved out of clean-up and into the 3rd spot. It's a good decision as he has not delivered in the clutch the last few games.
If batting practise is an indicator of success, Jaymo will not be in for a good game...
Inning 1: no hit as Jaymo gets on with a fielders choice. The inning ends quickly after that. No score after 1 inning.
Inning 3: at 8 pitch at bat ends with a double play. Jaymo is costing his team at this point. He needs to step up!
Inning 4: the socre is now 1-1. Jaymo takes a bat with men on the corners and only one out. Now is the time to shine. Jaymo shines in all the wrong ways with a five pitch strike out. He does the walk of shame to the bench. No runs score that inning.
Inning 7: Jaymo starts the inning with a 1 pitch deep pop fly. This is horrendous play by Jaymo. Maybe he needs to be benched?
Inning 9: the score remains 1-1. There is one man on first and two out. Jaymo finally delivers a hit and with a single gets the lead runner to 2nd. Medica takes the plate and delivers a walk-off single. The runner score from 2nd and the Chihuahuas win 2-1!!!
Holy cow! The series is tied 2-2 with one game left.

Update: Jaymo had the most hits of anyone in the AAA playoffs. Nice!
Update two: Jaymo signed a 1 year $82,500 contract with the Padres to be the starting 3rd baseman. The Padres offered $80,00 and Jaymo asked for $96. Jaymo took $82,500 as a compromise. The padres then turn around and sign Andres Perez to the AAA El Paso squad. He is tentatively labeled as the starter. Jaymo has been invited to spring training. Currently Jaymo is on the 40 man roster and listed as 2nd backup at 3rd for the Padres.

It's true, the Padres are a bad, bad team. They lost the division by 27.5 games! Truth be told I didn't want the call up yet. I need at least one more year of seasoning to get the attributes up. Plus, starting 3B Chase Headley was #3 in voting for a golden glove last year. No way I will be a starter and I am worried with limited action my skill set will drop.

If you don't get time at SD and they don't send you down to El Paso, ask for a trade if you're attributes start to dip.

I may have to do that but I hate having to ask for a trade. That being said I have no real allegiance to San Diego. Beautiful place to visit; wonderful weather; lovely people... but I don't follow nor route for any of their sports teams. Not that it would happen but if I did get moved I would surely have a preferred list.

The 2015 season begins for the Padres with a FOUR game trip to San Francisco.
Game 1: Pop fly versus Tim Lincecum
Game 2: double versus Sergio Romo (first ever MLB hit)
** then subbed for a base runner... :(
Game 3: no at bat
Game 4: strike out versus Madison Baumgarner
So not a very active series for Jaymo. The Padres had a terrible trip, going 1-3 to start the season.
Game 1: SF 4 SD 1
Game 2: SF 2 SD 1
Game 3: SD 7 SF 2
Game 4: SF 9 SD 1

Another series another pinch bat opportunity. This time it's versus the rockies in Colorado.
Game 1: sacrifice fly for Jaymo's first RBI of his career
Game 2: pinch running Went from 1st to home... called out)
** first action of the season... inning 8 at first base. Jaymo participated in three force outs.
*** though a secondary position, Jaymo has never played first base!
Game 3: pinch running in the 9th but never get home...
The Padres season is shaping up to be a disaster!
CO 5 SD 4
CO 3 SD 1
CO 2 SD 1
The Padres now sit at 1-7. After a day off they begin their first home stand of the season. The Padres are already 5.5 games back after the first week and a half of the season.

Honestly I have been in eight games in various roles but I have no sense as to how strong this team is because I have actually been in the load screen more than in the actual game. Pinch running in the 9th with two outs gives you a very limited perspective.

Yeah. I totally got what you were saying in your original post and I agree. I am going to wait until the 2nd month of the season before approaching management about playing time. Right now I am gaining some points through training drills that pop up from time to time. However, I need to actually start a game and get some at bats in. Even if they send me to El Paso I'm still not guaranteed playing time as at AAA and AA there are currently FOUR 3rd basemen. Maybe I made a mistake be re-signing with the Padres?
Looking across the MLB there aren't really any spots for a 3B with my skill level. I can't get ahead and going back a level doesn't isn't in the cards at this time. Plus, I have to admit, now that I am in the show, I don't want to go back down. I wasn't ready to be here yet but now that I have seen the bright lights I don't want to take a step back.
What may be hurting my stock is my D potential rating. You would think I have earned an improvement by now???

It has been an ugly season for the Padres and Jaymo to this point. Currently the Padres sit at 3-9. Jaymo has not started one game and is hitless in six games. His batting average has dropped to an abysmal .143.
However, maybe all of that will change? Jaymo is schedule to play 1st base in the last game of the home series versus the DiamondBacks.
jaymo76
08-05-2014, 12:55 AM
In Jaymo's first game as a starter (at 1st base to boot...) (April 13th at home to Arizona)
Inning 1: Jaymo hits a grounder single to right field. He should have earned an RBI but the runner was thrown out at the plate. Dbacks are up 3-1
Inning 3: three pitch strike out... ugly...
Inning 5: Dbacks have a 4-2 lead. Jaymo takes the plate with one on and two out. Jaymo slices the ball but an amzing play by the 2nd baseman ends the inning.
Inning 8: Jaymo grounds out into a double play to end the inning.
Cameron Maybin hits a three run homer in the 9th... the Padres win! the Padres win!
Jaymo struggled mightily. 1/4 is just not going to get it done. A .182 batting average in the majors is just downright embarrassing.

Mark it on the calendar...
April 16, 2015
Malo pinch hits in the 5th inning and faces lefty Morales. First pitch, Malo crushs a 364 footer to left fiel for a one man on home run. That makes the game 4-3 Colorado. Padres win it in the 9th, 5-4.

LA 12-3
COL 8-7 (4gb)
SF 9-9 (4.5gb)
ARI 8-8 (4.5gb)
SD 5-10 (7gb)
The only team currently worse than the Padres are the NY Mets with a 4 and 11 record (but only 5.5 back)
As for Jaymo, what a difference a few days makes. Three straight games with hits

Jaymo's hit streak goes to four game as he pinch hits a bloop infield single to get to first. This is the last of the home stand and the last versus Colorado. Next up is a trip to L.A. The hit streak stall with a brutal pinch hit strike out in game 1. Padres lose 2-0...

A special moment for Jaymo as he has his first ever inter league at bat at home to the Chicago White Sox. Jaymo hit a lead off single and then advanced to 3rd from a steal and then error at second. Jaymo then made it home two at bats later. The Padres still lost but jaymo was feeling good after the game.

Okay so the month of April is over. As of may 3rd, 2015 the Padres have played 30 games and have really struggled up to this point in the season.
NL West:
Dodgers 22-9
Diamondbacks 18-14 (4.5gb)
Rockies 16-15 (6gb)
Padres 11-19 (10.5gb)
Giants 12-21 (11gb)
At this point in the season, Jaymo has benefited from being in the NL as every-time a pitcher is pulled he either gets to pinch hit or pinch run. As a result Jaymo has been in most of the games this season.
Jaymo's stats:
26 games played (one two starts though)
33 AB
10 H
1 HR
3 RBI
.303 avg.
.294 OBP
.424 slg %

Finally Jaymo gets a start at 3rd base. Game two of the Brewers series in Milwaukee: a beautiful Tuesday may 5th. Chase Headley has stuck up the plate the last few weeks batting below .200 (.189 to be exact)
Jaymo is batting clean up today vs Willy Peralta.
Inning 2: pop fly about 6 feet away from the right field wall. So close!
Jaymo gets his first opportunity to field a ball in the third inning. It's been a long time since he did that at 3rd. And yes, the runner was thrown out at 1st.
Inning 4: Jaymo makes it to 1st due to a fielders choice. Jaymo makes it over to third but the inning ends before he can score.
Inning 6: another poor at bat but Jaymo gets on board from an E2 throwing error. Jaymo gets to third but no more. A run does score that inning to make it 2-1 Brewers.
Inning 7: Jaymo hits a single with one on and one out. No damage is done though. The previous inning the Padres put up 4 to take the lead 4-2.
Inning 8: two on and two out and Jaymo comes up with an RBI single. That makes it 7-2 Padres.
With that the padres win 7-2. Jaymo had 2 hits and 1 RBI on 5 at bat attempts.

Due to a decent performance last night Jaymo gets a back-to-back start, this time playing first base. Jaymo willing be batting in the 3rd spot. Sadly it's retro day... for both teams. There is little eye candy for this matinee.
Inning 1: A bad strike out on four pitches. Ugly!!!
Inning 4: leading off the 4th, Jaymo hits a stand up double. Jaymo gets to third but in the process watches three players down down and the inning ends 0-0.
Inning 5: bases loaded two outs... Jaymo crushes a double and drives in three runs!!! Carlos Quentin then takes the plate and smashes one out of the park. That makes the score 5-0 SD Padres.
Inning 7: one on and one out, Jaymo goes deep but not deep enough and pops out. The score is 6-2 in the bottom of the 7th.
Inning 9: Lefy reliever Zach Duke offers Jaymo a high fast ball and Jaymo blasts it out of the park!!! 7-2 SD Padres.
The Padres end up blowing out the Brewers 11-2. Jaymo gets his first ever MLB player of the game.
Jaymo's stats:
5 AB
2 runs
3 hits
1 HR
4 RBI
This also marks four straight wins by the Padres.

Some history made tonight in game 2 in Arizona. Jaymo pinch hit in the 9th and got a single. That gave him 20 hits on the season.
Speaking of Arizona... I despise this team!!! Pardon the pun but Jaymo is totally "snake-bitten" by these guys. Jaymo gets a start in game three of the Dbacks series in Arizona and it's an absolute nightmare. After a game like this Jaymo may not be in the starting lineup for awhile. Heading into the game Jaymo was hitting at .344 avg. After the game the batting aveage dropped to .318
vs. the Dbakcs game three stats:
at bats 1,2, 3 and 4: all pop flys...
error in the 4th inning... dropped a pop fly
at bat 5: ugly, ugly 4 pitch strike out...
For whatever reason Jaymo is a disaster versus the Dbacks, especially in Arizona. Maybe it's the stadium or the lighting? Jaymo is only hitting .150 vs the Dbacks. He has three hits in twenty at bats.

San Diego returns home for an inter-league battle versus the KC Royals. Jaymo is brought in to pinch hit in the 8th but then is asked to fill in at 2nd base. Jaymo has never player 2nd base in his career. Scary moment but Jaymo was responsible for 2 outs in the 9th inning. SD managed to win the game 4-3. Jaymo had no hit in his at bat. He is now officially in a mini slump. However, the Padres are pretty hot right now, winning 60% of their games in the past few weeks.

KC: 0/1 ground out
KC: 0/1 ground out
KC: 0/1 ground out

STL: not in the lineup at all
Jaymo needs to get out of this funk ASAP.

A matchup with the Cards. Could this be a rebound game for Jaymo? In his last ten games he is only hitting .200. St Louis leads the NL Central so this may be a tough matchup. R Lance Lynn is the starter for the Cards and he is playing well. With Jaymo getting the start at 3rd and his first start in a long stretch he is pretty pumped.
Inning 2: deep centre field pop up and the hittles streak continues. That is nine at bats with no results.
Inning 4: strike out with 1 on and 1 out. That is now ten at bats with nothing.
Inning 6: strike out to end the inning. Just like that... 11 at bats with no results.
Inning 9: 3rd strike out of the game. 12 at bats with nothing.
Lance Lynn goes 9 full innings for the complete game shut out, only giving up 4 hits.
Final score: St Louis 4 San Diego 0
The horrendous streak continues for Jaymo. His batting avg. has now fallen to .288

Slump buster or snake bitten???... The Pirates are the next series for the Padres. Getting out of SD is just what Jaymo needed but will it make a difference?
Game 1: 0/1 ground out (13 at bats without a hit)
Game 2: 0/1 strike out (14 at bats without a hit)
Game 3 did not play
Game 4: starting at 3rd base
A rainy June 1st matchup as the 27-30 Padres take on the 31-26 Pirates.
Inning 1: Finally a single for Jaymo!!! Nothing comes of it and the score remains 0-0.
Inning 4: one on and two out Jaymo pops up and the inning is over. However, the Padres are up 2-1
Inning 5: Jaymo gets on base due to an E6. The inning ends with the next batter. The score is now 5-3 Pittsburgh
Inning 8: Jaymo grounds out as per usual. Looks like another streak is about to begin... :(
Pittsburgh wins 5-3. Jaymo finally gets a hit but this series did NOT turn out to be the slump breaker Jaymo was hoping for and needed. Jaymo needs to clear his mind and start seeing the ball. This attitude of swinging your way out of a slump is not working.

Finally a big game for Jaymo! The Padres travel to Chicago to take on the Cubbies. In game two of the series Jaymo got the start at 3rd (he pinch hit in game 1 and grounded out).
Jaymo's stats:

1 HR
3 RBI
1 run
The Padres needed that win as they have been slumping badly as of late.

Is there something happening here? Jaymo is starting his 2nd straight game at 3rd base. Last game versus the Cubs jJaymo was 0/4. Another start is surprising to say the least.
In Jaymo's 2nd start the WashingtonNationals come to town. Jaymo gets to take on Strasburg for the first time.
at bat 1: ground out
at bat 2: single
at bat 3: single
at bat 4: single
Strasburg goes all 9 innings on 118 pitches. The Nationals wins 8-0. The Padres had 7 hits and jaymo had three of them. Jaymo needed this game badly. Hopefully Jaymo can get back on track now after seeing a huge decline in production over the last 15-20 games.
Less than 15,000 fans took in this game to watch the struggling Padres. SD now sits at 28-34. This team is 10.5 back and the season is spriraling out of control fast!

Major announcement: June 6, 2015
Starting 3rd baseman Chase Headley has really been struggling this season. He is only hitting .191 with 3HR and 12 RBI. Management has said he has failing expectations at this point. Jaymo, while battling through a slump has better numbers hitting .297 with 4 HR and 13 RBI.
Therefore, padres management informed the media that effective June 7th, Jaymo takes over as starting 3rd baseman for the San Diego Padres.

What a special experience. Jaymo's first game as a starter is a national broadcast of Sunday night baseball versus the Nationals. R pitcher Jordan Zimmerman will be chucking for the Nationals.
Inning 1: Jaymo gets good contact but fly's out to right field.
Inning 3: Jaymo grounds out (it was a three pitchi innig for Zimmerman...) 3-0 Nationals.
Inning 6: Jaymo hits a lead off double. Jaymo ends at 3rd but it ends there. It's now 7-0 Nationals.
Inning 9: Jaymo hits an infield single with 1 on and 1 out. It's already 10-0 Nationals but Jaymo is still giving it his all.
The game ends with the score 10-0 Nationals. Zimmerman went all 9 innings for the shutout. He only threw 104 pitches in the complete game shutout. Wow!!! Two games into the series and the Nationals starting pitchers have went all 18 innings. The Padres had 5 hits today and Jaymo had 2 of them. This team has no offensive punch.
On the bright-side that's six hits in two games for Jaymo. I think it's safe to say the slump is over. It's go time!
jaymo76
08-10-2014, 02:52 AM
So much for the starting position. Jaymo is back on the bench for game three of the National series. However in the 7th inning Jaymo comes off the bench in a 0-0 game to face righty, Doug Fister. Jaymo hits a single to move the runner to third. He will eventually score to give the Padres a 1-0 lead. However it's a short lived lead and the Padres drop the game by a score of 6-3.
Padres were swept by the Nationals. Washington starting pitching went 9 innings, 9 innings and 6.1 innings. The Padres could not generate offense. However, Jaymo went 6 for 9 in the series.
jaymo76
08-10-2014, 02:54 AM
Padres hitting is terrible right now. The team is batting .236 and that number is being propped up by Jaymo (.313) and 1st baseman Yonder Alonso (.301). All other hitters are in the .100 or .200 range. Brutal!
Edit: for the next series at home to Miami, Jaymo is back as the starter.
jaymo76
08-10-2014, 04:01 AM
Jaymo has thrived since being named starter. In the five game thus far his fielding has been 1.000. Currently Jaymo is on a six game hitting streak and over the last ten games he has been batting .424. Overall Jaymo's current batting average is .324
However, the dreaded Diamondbacks are in SD. Can Jaymo step up to the challenge and give it to the Dbags?
Inning 1: Jaymo hits an infield single. A few batters later Jaymo crosses the plate and it's 1-0 Padres.
Inning 4: Jaymo gorunds out with 1 on and 1 out. Still 1-0 Padres.
Inning 6: Jaymo grounds out with a man at third and the inning ends. It's now 1-1.
Inning 8: pop up to 2nd base. No matter though, as Jaymo's hit streak hits 7 games and more importantly, the Padres win 3-1

The Diamondbacks continue to frustrate Jaymo. After the 2nd game of the series with the Dbags Jaymo goes a horrendous 1 for 9. On the season versus the Dbags Jaymo has 4 hits on 29 at bats. His batting average is an embarrassing .138 In the 3rd and last game of the series Jaymo had another poor performace going 1-4. At least though he had an RBI and scored a run. With the closure of the Arizona series Jaymo has 5 hits in 33 at bats versus the Diamondbacks. His batting avg. is .152, up slightly from last game. However, in contrast Jaymo is hitting .306 on the season.
At the 70 game mark the Padres sit at 31-39. They are 12.5 back from the now division leading Diamondbacks.
Chase Headley has been moved to starter in LF with the injuries to Carlos Quentin AND LF David Lough. This has sparked Headley's bat againg as he is now hitting above .200 for the first time in a long, long time. It's not clear whether Headley goes back to start at 3rd once Carlos Quentin returns next week.

At home Jaymo is hitting .279 while on the road he is only .265 Jaymo is hitting .310 vs. lefties but only .259 versus righties. Jaymo has struck out 22 times this season but many of those have come recently.
Over the last ten games Jaymo has fallen off the map. He is only hitting .162 with 6 hits and 1 RBI. Versus the Dodgers jaymo came up to the plate with the bases loaded... three times... and he struck out twice and ground out once. Right now glaciers look at Jaymo and say "damn you're cold!"
Also, Jaymo was leading the race for N.L. rookie of the year. He has now fallen to third on the list. Shortly after being names starter, Jaymo's slump began. If this keeps up there may be a change as 3B Chris Nelson is tearing it up in El Paso.

Finally!!! After 22 at bats Jaymo gets a weak hit down the 3rd base line to drive in a run and give the Padres a 1-0 lead in the third inning of game four. Jaymo keeps it going in the 5th with another RBI single to give the Padres a 3-0 lead. Sadly it was a bad strike out on the last bat of the day. Another hit would have done wonders for Jaymo's confidence. Two hits and two RBI is a good start to recovery...

Personal note: I may need to take a day or two off from RTTS. I am really flustered right now. Granted I got two hits last game but it has been a struggle. Even when I make contact I hit it right to someone on the other team. Case in point, versus the Cubs I smash the ball up the middle and it's going to be a hit... but it hits the pitcher in the head and goes into the glove of the Shortstop for a double play. I almost fell over when I saw that. Cold streaks in this game can be extreme and sometimes you need to walk away and regroup.

After a 24 hours off.. I'm back at it. The game is just too addictive to stay away...
After a decent start to the season and an impressive hot streak Jaymo has been pretty cold for the last month of the season. With just three hits in his last twenty games Jaymo was beyond frustrated. There were moments were it looked like a breakthrough might occur but they didn't pan out.
The Angels came to town for a two game series. In game two of the series it looked like Jaymo had his mojo back with two hits on four at bats, including a double. However, because Jaymo cannot catch a break, sliding into 3rd he sprains his MCL and will be out for at least 3-4 weeks.
Stats:
78 games played

The Padres are also dead in the water. At the 92 game mark:

Rockies 41-52 (16gb)

Overall the Padres did pretty well in Jaymo's absence going a very respectable 15-8, which included a 7 game win streak. Chase Headley took over at 3rd and really stepped up. Hitting .222 with a couple of dingers and a swath of RBI, Headley helped the Padres improve their record.
Jaymo's first game back is as DH against the Tigers in Detroit. Not the start Jaymo wanted with a 2 pitch pop out. In the 3rd inning Jaymo hits a single to start things off. He crosses the plate a few batters later for a run. Jaymo gets another single to lead off the 5th. A poor at bat in the 7th caps off a fairly decent return to action. The padres win 5-2.
With the win the Padres record improves to 57-60 (17.5gb)

Jaymo put a nice 5 straight game hit streak together versus St. Louis and the Miami. Feeling good, Jaymo went back home to SD to face his nemesis, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Game 1: a ground single and then three straigt out
Game 2: 0/4
Game 3: 0/1 pinch hit
Game 4: 1/5
In game four, the Padres blew out the Dbags 13-2. The Padres had 12 hits, incldung 5 homeruns. Jaymo for his part hit into three double plays and grounded out once.
This had the potential of a rokie of the year campaign for Jaymo but everything fell apart. At this rate Jaymo's hitting will be well below .250 be season's end.

Jaymo's stats:

.255 OBP
.383 slug %
66 hits

The Padres aren't doing too much better as they sit at 64-73. On the brightside there is no way possible to hit 100 losses so that's a good thing.
N.L. West
Dodgers 81-54
Diamondbacks 78-59 (4gb)
Rockies 65-72 (17gb)
Padres 64-73 (18gb)
Giants 62-74 (19.5gb)
Currently the Reds and the Diamondbacks are in the N.L. Wildcard positions. The next closest team is Miami, 7.5 games back.
At this point Jaymo is just trying to finish the season. Jaymo is not to happy with the Padres skip. I don't think the Manager has used Jaymo well this season. Hitting cleanup for a non-power hitter has not helped things to say the last. Nonetheless, Jaymo's goal is to finish the season strong.

Just in case anyone thought Jaymo would let his "hatred of the Dbags go... you were wrong. In the 3rd game of the Padres-Dbags series, Arizona won the game 18-0!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Dbags had 20 hits compared to the 3 from the Padres (Jaymo had one). This was the biggest beating of Jaymo's young career.

Looking at the minors:
PCL South
Bees 75-69
51's 75-69
Chihuahuas 72-72 (3gb)
Isotopes 60-84 (15gb)
So in AAA El Paso will not have a chance to defend it's PCL and AAA championships.
In AA action, San Antonio won the 1st half of the season and in the second half...
Missions 41-23
Hooks 33-31 (8gb)
RoughRiders 32-32 (9gb)
RockHounds 28-36 (13gb)
Since San Antonio won the 1st and 2nd half they have a buy t the championship series in the Texas League. Good luck San Antonio!

With the 40 man rosters a go, 3B Chris Nelson has been brought up. He has had a strong year in El Paso and was on the bench with the Padres last year. Great more pressure for Jaymo! As Jaymo is only hitting .222 in his last 10 games and has had no RBI, he is pretty flustered to begin with.
jaymo76
08-14-2014, 03:47 AM
With 20 games left in the season, Padres management continues to make unique decisions. Jaymo has been informed he is no longer the starting 3rd baseman. Why now? This would have made sense when Jaymo was struggling but right now neither play is all that hot but Jaymo's stats are pretty much better across the board. Plus, Headley is experienced while Jaymo needs more practise.
jaymo76
08-14-2014, 03:59 AM
Then six games later... Jaymo is the starter again. There is no rhyme or reason for these decisions???

After another four game no hit slump, Jaymo rebounds for a HUGE game in the 3rd game versus the Rockies. Jaymo had two singles and one homerun. That's the first time in a long time since he had three hits in one game. Jaymo also took home player of the game honours.
The Padres won 10-6 rebounding after the first two losses of the series. The win moves the Padres to 69-80 on the season. Jaymo's batting avg. climbs to .258
jaymo76
08-16-2014, 02:54 AM
In several weeks of lowlights, Jaymo has a bit of a highlight as he records his 75 hit of the season versus the L.A. Dodgers in Los Angeles. While hitting a lowly .194 in the last ten games Jaymo is on the verge of dropping below .250 batting average. This season cannot end soon enough!
jaymo76
08-16-2014, 03:08 AM
Good to see some of Jaymo's AA teammates up with the big team. In game two versus the Dodger, pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne pitched 4 innings and only gave up 1 hit. He was player of the game in a 7-0 SD thrashing over L.A.
Speaking of AA, forgot to mention that Tulsa did NOT repeat as Texas league champs. They lost 3 games to 1 to the Springfield Cardinals.
jaymo76
08-16-2014, 03:42 AM
Well it took 155 games but Jaymo finally had his first four hit game. In game three versus the Dodgers Jaymo came up big with player of the game honours. 4 hits, including 2 doubles on 5 at bats and 2 RBI. Jaymo drove in the winning run in the 9th. With the 4 hits, Jaymo makes it to 80 hits on the season.
The Padres end up sweeping the Dodgers in L.A. (7-6, 7-0, 6-4). That is only the 4 sweep the Padres have had all season.

Last series of 2015: Dodgers @ Padres
The Dodgers will win the N.L. West. This series is just for bragging rites.
Game 1 of the series:
Inning 1: Jaymo hits a single to load the bases but the inning ends with no damage done. The score is 0-0.
Inning 3: Jaymo gets on due to a fielding error. Again no damage done. The score is 1-1
Inning 5: Jaymo takes the plate with 2 on and 2 out. However he chases a poor pitch and grounds out to end the inning. The score remains 1-1.
Inning 7: Jaymo craps the bed with 1 on and 2 out with a terrible strike out. The score now sits at 3-1 Padres.
Inning 9: The Dodgers have stormed back to take the lead 5-3. With 1 on and 2 out Jaymo takes the plate against Kenley Jansen. Jaymo pops up on an average cutter. janse gets his 50th save and Jaymo walks away in disgust with another poor outing.
Dodgers take game one by a score of 5-3
Game 2:
Chad Billingsley is the only Dodger pitcher to struggle this season. mayve jaymo can have a big game???
Inning 1: two on and one out, Jaymo strikes out. Unbeleivable how bad he has hit the ball in the 2nd half ot the season. Even though Jaymo chokes the team scores 3 runs to go up 3-0.
Inning 3: to lead off the bottom of the 3rd, Jaymo grounds out on one pitch. The Dodgers now lead 4-3
Inning 6: Grounding out to third Jaymo keeps his playing like crap streak alive! It's still 4-3 L.A.
Inning 9: leading off the 9th , down 6-3 Jaymo leads off the inning with a soft grounder (and some payback) against Jansen.
Jaymo has 1 hit in 4 at bats and the Padres lose again. Billingsley was phenomenal! He gave up three hits (one a hr with 2 on).
Game 3 of the series Jaymo rides the bench... the Padres win. That seems to happen a lot.

Game 162- the last game of the season
Dodgers LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu 14-6, 2.10era VS Padres RHP Ian Kennedy 11-6, 3.76era
This is the last game of the 2015 season. Will it also be Jaymo's last game as a Padre? He only signed a one year deal, there are a number of 3rd basemen in the organization and Jaymo has had a massive slump for the 2nd half of the season.
In a real pitchers duel, the Padres win the game 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th inning. Jaymo had a decent game with 2 hits in 4 attempts.

With Jaymo's contract expiring the Padres offer a 1 year, $500,000 deal. Hw totally insulting!!! Chase Headley makes 1.7 and Chris Nelson makes over $800,000 at AAA.
Jaymo lowers his first offer to 5 year and 5 million. The PPadres don't blink and jaymo refuses to sign. However, when all is said and done the Padres renew the contract and Jaymo gets majorly ripped out with a 1 year, $500,00 deal. What a freaking joke!
Jaymo has been named the starter but the backup and the AAA starter both will make way more money. Jaymo is beginning to tire of the poorly run San Diego padres...

So with that Spring Training for the now 20 year old Jaymo is about to begin. What does season two in the bigs hold for Jaymo?
jaymo76
02-28-2015, 08:59 PM
Spring ball kicks off with the Padres taking on the Mariners. Jaymo's hitting issues continue to plague him as in game one of the series he went 0 for 3 with two ground outs and a strike out. Ouch! Seattle won 5-4 and both teams had 11 hits. Is Jaymo destined for the minors? Right now he is penciled in as the 3rd baseman for opening day but at this point does he deserve it?
jaymo76
02-28-2015, 09:13 PM
In game 2 Jaymo goes 2-4 with 2 singles and one RBI. He was also thrown out on an attempted steel. The Mariners win 2-1. Both teams had 10 hits. Jaymo had a decent game but there is still room for improvement.
The Padres seem to be using Jaymo all wrong as they have him batting cleanup. Jaymo is not a power hitter and his style is more fitted for lead off or late in the lineup.
jaymo76
02-28-2015, 09:23 PM
To finish up the month, the Padres get lit up by KC by the score of 9-2. Jaymo went 1-4 with a single and a run. KC outhit the Padres 14-8. Jaymo hit into 2 double plays.
For the first three games Jaymo went 3/11 (.273) with 1 run and 1 RBI. A better effort will be needed if he wants to keep his job.

Jaymo had his best game of the Spring thus far getting 2 hits (incuding a double), 1 BB and 1 run and 1 RBI. However, a bad Padre team managed to lose a 5-1 lead and fell to the Dodgers 6-5.
Jaymo was rewarded with several games off and got back into the lineup against his nemesis squad... the Arizona Diamondbacks. Strike out, one pitch ground out... then it happened, Jaymo goes long and with the 2 run homer the Padres have the lead. The Padrses hold on for a 2-1 victory and Jaymo gets player of the game honours.

Padres and Jaymo continue to struggle this season. Next up is a 4 game series with the hated Dodgers.
Game 1: Jaymo goes 0/4 and is now o/16 on the season.
Jaymo is moved from cleanup to hitting 3rd...
Game 2: Jaymo finally gets a hit on his 2nd at bat (a single) but ends the game 1/4
Game 3... the breakthrough... Jaymo has a milestone career game going 3/4 with 3 homeruns!!! he last homerun gave the Padres the win, 3-2
For Jaymo's effort he is rewarded by being pulled. However, he is called onto pinch hit in the 7th vs. Josh Beckett. However, Jaymo has a poor at bat and pops out. Talk about screwed up managing of a player. Jaymo was on fire last game, after starting off with a horrible slump and then after success gets benched. Anyways, Dpdgers go onto win 5-2 and take 3 of 4.
So after six games, Jaymo has 4 hits in 21 at bats (.190) with 3 HR and 3 RBI.
The Padres sit at 2-4 and go on the road to San Francisco.
jaymo76
04-08-2015, 02:00 AM
In the first game against the Giants, Jaymo had 4 straight singes. The Padres were up 5-0 going into the 7th. Then the Giants tied it up. In the 8th with 2 on and one out, Jaymo could be the hero... but he grounded out. In the 9th the Giants hit a homer and win 6-5. Padres suck!!!
On the bright-side, Jaymo's hitting jumps up to .308 with 8 hits in 26 at bats.

Game 2.... ugly!!!

The Padres trail 1-0 going into the 9th then explode to socre 4 runs. In the bottom of the ninth, the Giants score 4 runs and win 5-4. The moral of the story... Padres suck!
After 9 games, Jaymo is hitting .273 with 9 hits in 33 at bats. Padres are hitting .211 as a team which ranks them 28th worst. Ouch!

Jaymo starts off the game with a single ripped off the pitcher's (Billingsley) shin which results in an RBI single and a 1-0 lead in the 1st. The bottom of the inning ands 4-1 Dodgers.
In the 4th, Jaymo hits a massive 3 run homer and ties the game at 4-4.
Bat #3 is a strikeout and a bad one at that.
BAT #4 with 2 on and 2 out Jaymo chokes and grounds out. Jaymo is not good at closing the deal with men on board. Nonetheless, the Padres pull off a 6-4 victory.
Jaymo gets player of the game nobs, going 2/4 with 1 HR and 4 RBI.
Next up, a home series with... the Dbags.

Game 1: jaymo rides the pine and is brought in to pinch hit in the 8th. A 4 pitch strikeout is the end result. Dbags win 4-3.
Game 2: jaymo goes 1/4 witha homerun, a strikeout and two pop outs. Padres lose 3-2.
After the game, Padres trade RP Troy Patton to the Cubs for SP Aaron Oliver and CP Ken Hecht.
Game 3: jaymo goes 1/4 with a single and an overall weak game. However, the padres pull out a comeback win and avoid the sweep with a 5-2 win

Game 2: Jackie Robinson day... jaymo gets a lucky hit as he ripped it off the pitcher's leg. 1/4 with yet another strikeout. On the brightside however, Yonder Alonso had a grand slam and the Padres win 4-0.
Game 3: a sinlge, double and 2 RBI (as well as being thrown out at the plate) in 4 attempts. The Padres are on a min streak with 2 straight wins. This game saw the bats come alive with 20 Padre hits!!!

Padres travel to Arizon for another meeting with the dreaded DBags... Jaymo has been snake-bitten by this team. What will happen this series?
Game 1: dreadful... Jaymo goes 1/4 with a single and 1 strikeout. Wade Miley threw a 6 hit shoutout and the Dbags win 3-0.
Game 2 the Padres walk away with a 3-1 victory. Jaymo had 2 singles and one error. Not a great game but better than before.
Game 3: Jaymo was pulled for the game and had a chance to rest. No matter... The Padres lost and the season is off to a dreadful 8-13 start.
Padres now sit 7.5 back. Jaymo is hitting .274 with 5 hr and 11RBI.
