Yes I am working towards my Atlas V2 card. A couple more warps and I'll be there.

How do you get one? Do you have to acquire blueprints? I haven't seen anything about it in the game, except for needing one to access various things.

Eventually after enough warps an 'anamoly' will appear. If you follow the path of the Atlas, then it will give you a waypoint to an Atlas station.
Also, just bought my first ship after the Emeril hoard. Bought a 19 slot ship for 620k looks a lot cooler than my first ship too.

Here's a look at the new beaut.... Only downside is I had a full hyperdrive on the old ship and this one has an empty one but it's pretty cheap to create warp drives.

I warped into a system and found the Atlas Station. I picked up my first Atlas card and was then relentlessly attacked by 3 waves of hostile ships. I have been given instructions for the next system but I need to do some exploring first.

I also have gotten several updates today, mostly to the multi-tool.

Multi-tool 18 slots
Exosuit 13 slots

Iron wastes a slot. If you need it, you can easily go outside and find some, but it's not worth much.

I finally found a planet that had all the right conditions for me to want to explore for hours.
The climate and radiation/toxicity were no concern, the terrain was interesting, the caves were seemingly endless, the flora and fauna were very lush and there was plenty of animal life.
Consequently, I got the trophy for finding every species on the planet.

It took me a couple of sessions playing it to really decide if I was going to like it. I think what flipped the switch for me was the aggressive animals and the intolerable climates and atmospheres. Add in sentinels and pirates and you never have a totally safe feeling which is awesome. And, hell, like I said, I'm not sure I've scraped the surface on what kinds of threats are out there.

What are the complaints?
It's just complaining all around. I haven't read everything and just pop in once in awhile. But there is one group that feels this small Dev team under delivered, particularly a buggy PC launch, and feels if you sell a game at AAA prices you should face AAA criticism. Others are hating on the haters saying the game is still fun, accept any flaws and be happy. I'm not even sure what else they are expecting. But people arent even talking that much about the actual game. It's cluttered.

That isn't shocking to me. I never understood people saying they would play this game forever. Every game gets old and repetitive but this game always looked to have that issue. Maybe they add more stuff but it's hard to get people back once they leave. Does it really matter though financially for hello Games? Half of a games sales are in their first month. They did very well. If they don't sell anymore they still made good money I bet.

Hopefully Sean and his team have made enough money to buy an island and never have to make another game again. Because anything after No Man's Sky is going to have so much scrutiny that Sean Murry would just end up hiding under a table, sobbing.
The guy has not even posted on the NMS/His Main account in well over a month.

They are definitely in hiding lol.
My daughter played it for awhile. Same with my son. They probably put in around 15 hours each (maybe more). Now haven't touched it in a couple weeks. Not a horrible investment of time in the game. I wish it had more staying power but it doesn't right now.

So this game appears to be DOA? It's really sad as I was having a lot of fun then I went on vacation and haven't played since. Now, I don't have time to get back into it.
I couldn't believe how lame the ending of this game is after reading it. I won't spoil it but it's terrible.
FOUNDATION UPDATE INCOMING
Hello,
This week Hello Games will be releasing an update to No Man’s Sky. We’re calling it The Foundation Update, because we have added the foundations of base building, and also because this is putting in place a foundation for things to come.
Detailed patch notes will follow, and release will be soon.
Coming from five years of intense development, immediately after No Man’s Sky released the team spent six weeks updating the game with 7 patches across both platforms (the last of these was 1.09 on Sept 24th which you can read about here http://www.no-mans-sky.com/log/). These fixed many of the most common or critical bugs and issues post-release.
In the nine weeks since then our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update. It won’t be our biggest update, but it is the start of something.
The discussion around No Man’s Sky since release has been intense and dramatic. We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.
Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone.
This update will be the first small step in a longer journey. We hope you can join us.
Thank you,
Hello Games

I HATE how they always refer to themselves as a small team. It's that excuse making that drives me nuts. They didn't charge people a small price. They charged full price which leads to full expectations. Truth is if they offered the game at half price in the first place people could have accepted a lot of the short comings. But they didn't so suck it up.

The problem is that I only turn my PS4 on for about 2-3 hours per week these days. I've been burnt out on gaming for about a year but it really became noticeable last Spring.
I'm trying to get into NHL 17 right now and I'm having fun when I force myself to play. Hopefully Friday the 13th will snap me out of my funk. I've never been so disinterested in gaming before and I have no idea why I am now.

I haven't played enough to form an opinion but from what I have seen:
* they now have THREE gameplay types (normal, difficult and creative)
* the visuals are somewhat improved
* there are a lot more save points
* the building feature looks cool... but I have not yet figured out how to unlock it
The biggest issue from what I have seen is that all of the planets and lifeforms have been reset. If you found them, the names still exist but all of the animal life forms and bases are gone.

I get worried about that age thing as well. Games just aren't original in many ways any more. We have been around so long there aren't a lot of unique games to hold our interest. We've seen almost everything. Step 1 for me was to get away from sports games years ago and get into other stuff. Trying different genres or even online can help. I've been through minor funks before and wonder if they will become more regular. Right now I'm still gaming. Tomb Raider is solid but I'm looking forward to For Honor the most in February.

They're back!
Too bad some of these upgrades weren't around Day 1. I can understand indie titles progressively adding stuff but a full priced AAA game should have been better. If they added coop play I would probably re buy the game for the kids. They play a lot with my nephews still in Minecraft and all kinds of games. Being able to explore planets together and build settlements would be a lot of fun for them. My kids probably played for 10-15 hours before getting bored and giving up on the game initially. The game has added a lot of nice content since we sold it.

I've since been to the nearby space station, went to the mysterious signal transmitter, reached the distress beacon and got the hyperdrive blueprints.
Also found the drop pod and got the exosuit upgrade. Now to head back to the space station and buy a dynamic resonator.

Oh, I'm good, lol. I'm still simply trying to just explore the planets in my current system, plus I'm gonna head back to The Pancake System to finish discovering animals on all the planets that I hadn't found by the time I hyper jumped.
Even in this second system that I initially hyper jumped too, I've only actually landed on one planet while following the missions and have reached the point it already wants me to hyperjump to a new system, even though I haven't gone near 4 or 5 other planets.
I'm still ultimately trying to figure out what I'm doing both on-planet and off-planet, so it's gonna be a long, slow time for me to advance in the "missions".

That is one thing I have not yet actually done. I have no clue how to build bases.
All I've been able to do thus far is land on a bunch of planets, mine some iron and other goodies, locate some drop pods and monoliths and find various waypoints then head to the space station to sell of anything of no use to free up space.

It will come, just look around for a habitable base on a planet. Sometimes they pop up for you (when you scan the planets from space) and then it is simply following some instructions, finding someone and get to building along with a bunch of sidemissions to build bigger and better things.
There is enough good stuff in this patch that I am going to give it a new run. Love the addition of terrain editing around a base. Did not see it mentioned but I do hope they added more inventory space for the storage containers, since they only limit you to ten and each only holds a small amount of items.

Just a heads up, while they fixed and added many things, they broke some in the process. After saving a Point Of Interest, it still shows a green? This should go away once you save at the destination but is not happening after patch. DO NOT BUY the High Capacity Cargo for your suit. You will spend money and not get a slot. They are aware of both things and hopefully fixed soon.

Definitely getting this for the XB1. Look CLW 3rd person for everything, if you have not jumped in now is a good time.
Unlimited base building excites me most. Could care less about the multiplayer. I really hope they allow for more storage containers. I think there was a max of 10 the last time I played it and was not nearly enough.

Jaymo this one is mostly for you. Imagine they made a Fallout 4 like building to NMS. Well they kinda did. You can now place individual floors, walls, roofs and doors individually (last version I played you were limited to connector and small buildings you could create) but this might be something they added before this NEXT update but not sure. Make a base as big as you want and place it anywhere. Just build a computer and that location is yours. They have renamed almost everything since I last played so it has taken some getting used to. You can also turn of base sharing and even better multiplayer all-together. So no one to destroy and steal all the work you put it in.
The have added so much it is hard to know where to start. Space stations are completely different and have tons of people and multiple places to buy blueprints, etc. Different vendors for ships and for your exosuit. Then you have the crafting and the refiner machine that will take something like carbon and make it a refined carbon, to possibly even better carbon. Most everything can be refined and will need to be as many items require it. Plus some of the refined stuff like the Iron (now Ferrite Dust) can be made into Pure Ferrite which increases the value but also requires less to use when you need upgrade something that requires it, saving on the limited space you have in your exo suit and ship early on.
You can find blue prints and building item blueprints underground that can be found using your visor scanner. Same goes for the big deposits that you used to mine with the laser but now uses the terrain tool (mining) to save some time as it got a bit repetitive in the older versions.
If you see a weird egg do not shoot it. I repeat do not shoot it. I shot it and it did not end well. Just a heads up as this created something entirely new to this game.
Tons of new stuff to do and will definitely be sinking a few hundred hours into this while waiting for Red Dead Redemption 2.

Minor spoilers and a completely legitimate way to get rich fast. Honestly just putting them in spoiler tags for those who simply have to go into these things blind.
You get a freighter, early in the story. Spent hundreds of hours on the PS4 and never had enough for one. I even got an A class, which is the second highest class you can get.
Oh and those Eggs, those mysterious eggs. Mine it, grab item and run to ship. 90,000 unit item will drop if you are fast enough. Once in the ship you can fly around until things calm and rinse repeat for some sweet cash. But that is not get rich fast thing I was talking about. Save up your Nanite Clusters. Once you hit 450 go to space station, pretty sure it has to be a Gek based station. There are now a few different vendors but find the one selling stuff for your multi-tool scanner. Select the second option (not a blueprint, the items which allow you to install instantly). Search for S Class upgrade for scanning the flora/fauna (S is the highest level). Install this on the multi-tool (these purchases always go to the Exosuit so you press button to install it in the proper place. Which is how it varies from a typical blueprint that you have to build and have the proper items to build it. This will also work on any level of multi-tool, as I am using it on a standard C rated hunk of junk. It increased the average flora discovery from 250 to 25,000 units and I have seen as high as 150,000 on fauna. I had over 1,000.000 on three planets standing in once place and finding the stuff in front of me. Did not even come close to finding everything. A few trees plants and whatever was flying in the sky and running around me at the time.
Pretty sure this was something you could do before this update but no where near as quick. Pretty sure you had to get lucky or it was one of the harder upgrades to get from Nada and Polo. I got this in under 5 hours of gameplay, including the freighter.
Allowing me more time to warp between planets to find that perfect place to build.

Newly added tips to make even more money without having to spend hours upon hours of mining stuff (which technically you can't as easy because all of the deposits are much smaller and spread out).
Back to those eggs that bring out the new monsters. Grab egg and if let them kill you. Go to grave and rinse/repeat... Or if you have descent aim and maneuverability, just gen a S model upgrade to you weapon style of choice, in my case I stick with the tried and true boltcaster. Take on the waves, which takes a few minutes and start again. Found a place with 20 eggs x 90,000 units each.
But then I realized something that has me not even worrying about eggs or anything else to make money. You can stack those S Model analytic visor flora/fauna upgrades. Bought a 15 slot B model and was sad to find out that when you disable these instant install upgrades they are gone. You get a technology chip thing which I just end up selling as they go for 100K as I have yet to set up a base and messed withe the new machinery. So I warped back a few times and now have 4 of the stacked (while they all cost the same they will vary a bit on how much more you get) though even my lowest is still night and day over a standard scan. With 4 stacked I average about 1.5 to 2 mil a planet. Plants get me around 50K each scan and animals vary from 200 to 250K.
Things have always been stack-able but for some reason it did not click until i lost it and looked at how many slots my new scan-tool had and realized how few I honestly needed for the mining and weapon add-ons. So if you want to save your time mining stuff because you need it and not to sell, not a bad way to go.
I will be giving these tips to my kids!
bdoughty

I was wrong about the stacking, there is a limit of three of the same thing. I had a fourth S class upgrade but it was not for scanning.
]Now I need to find a planet to start a base. Have the worst luck with this game as every Paradise planet I find has extreme sentinels or weather. The extreme weather seems to be happening a great deal more often than I remember, even in no extreme planets.

I decided to jump back into this after the update. I had originally played it briefly after it first came out, but only got about 5 hours into it, making it as far as the space station. So, I decided to start a new game.
So far I'm about 3 hours into it, on my second planet (a ring planet which was amazing approaching it in my ship) and ready to leave to investigate the signal at the space station. So far have two bases on the planet I'm on currently. Built my tutorial base, then had to go find a buried technology module, which I had to fly to a different area to find.
While flying, I had a building of some sort come up on my scanner, so I tried to land to check it out, but must not have landed fast enough as I couldn't locate it when I got out on foot. However, I did locate a bunch of metal 'fingers'. There were probably 10-15 of them, a couple were made of uranium, which I was happy to find as my launch thrusters were nearly empty. The rest were all gold, so I now have 1,056 items of gold sitting in my ship inventory, good for 213,312 units when I eventually sell them. Currently I have a paltry 33,028 units, 157 nanite clusters and 0 Quicksilver, whatever the hell the nanite clusters and quicksilver are supposed to be used for.
One thing I do miss from my previous game, right now I still have my class C starter multi-tool with only 5 slots. In my old game from August 2017, I had a C class multi-tool with 12 slots and a bunch of upgrades. I also had 431,831 units on that previous game.
But, it's not such a massive difference between units and nanite clusters between the two, so I'll keep working on my new game. Even though my next objective is to investigate the space station, and even though the planet I'm on is a corrosive damp planet with moderate toxicity, I'm gonna keep exploring for a bit as I have 5 or 6 buried technology modules showing up on scans, plus an abandoned building to check out.
And as I just discovered while typing this, metal 'fingers' grow back! I completely wiped out all the metal fingers that I discovered and built a base next to. Now in the last couple minutes, three new gold containing metal fingers have appeared in the same area the previous ones were. Time to start mining more gold! I'm gonna load up all the gold my ship and exosuit can carry before heading to the space station.

Nanite clusters are very important, these are the items you use to purchase technology and blueprints at space station vendors. Make sure that you rename and upload every discovery as that will get you more Nanites. Are you seeing some Uranium while mining those gold fingers? Generally it is either Gold or Uranium in the fingers. It might not sell for much but is the most important item, besides oxygen ;) that you can have on your exosuit/spacecraft. It is used to fuel your thrusters which is something you will be doing often when landing away from pads and drop areas that do not use up that fuel. Much easier to deal with than creating thrust fuel and Uranium is powerful and requires like 20 units to fill it completely.
Pretty sure Quicksilver is what you will get for competing in the community events that are coming weekly.
Also when you come to a Ruin that is buried in the dirt, scan it, search it carefully and reap rewards.
Guide on the Ruins, how to find, etc. (not my guide but it is how it works)
Use the signal booster and give it navigational data. Choose artifacts.
Go to the ruin/plaque, and choose past knowledge option.
A purple chest icon will appear and will lead you to a bigger ruin. Usually located on another planet.
Dig around the area especially at underground pieces of the ruin structures, there should be 5+ keys in each site.
Once you have 3 keys dig around the center, again it will always be on the ruin broken structure not just floating in dirt.

Thanks for the explanations. Yeah, there were a couple uranium fingers and the rest were all gold.
I also found some humming eggs. Are you supposed to open them and grab what's inside? I found a ton of humming eggs and grabbed the albumen pearls inside, ending up with 34 in total, but they're only worth 9,025 units each, whereas you said you were getting 90,000 for them.
At least, if these are the correct humming eggs, I got the lucky draw. Mine were all about 200 meters underground and completely unprotected, whereas people on OS said they would get attacked almost instantly when taking the eggs.

Yeah, it's a lesson everyone learns the hard way. I am thinking the one you got was from a random discussion where they offer you a used multi-tool which happens every time you start a new game. New multi-tools never have a damaged slot. There should be a vendor in the space station that sells a new multi-tool (it is to the left of the vendor on the wall). Your other option would be to get on a planet and scan and search for an Outpost. The Outpost is where there is a landing pod and a walkway that goes straight into the building and somewhere on the wall will be a multi-tool for sale. Do not know if you have met the space anomaly (Nada and Polo) but they have one for sale. Doubt you are this far in but just FYI.
Same goes for crashed ships, they look great until you see how much crap it takes to fix those broken slots. Now if you are somehow able to find a Class A or S ship from a distress signal, it is worth patching it up enough to get into space and trade for something that will be better than a class C early on.

Either that or buy 200 of the processed copper and fix that slot myself.
Beyond that, I still ultimately have no clue what the hell I'm doing. Ended up right back on the second planet I had just left, looking for some distress signal. People on OS keep talking about finding these free freighters, but I have yet to come across one. And it's hard to do much on the planets except in the immediate vicinity of my ship and base, as both my starter planet and secondary planet have been toxic as hell (can only be outside for 5-7 minutes before my shields die), the third, still unvisited, planet is a freezing cold ice planet, and there's a fourth yet undiscovered planet.

Well, I think I've wasted 5 hours. I've been to both the space station and just visited a trading outpost, no one has multi-tools or any Chromatic Metal for sale. I do see any way in hell I'm getting this damaged slot fixed and getting my terraforming tool back.
If I have to start an entirely new game, I may be putting this back on the shelf for a bit. I have no desire to do all the beginning mission bullshit all over again a third time.
Edit - Nevermind. Finally found A box to buy a new multi-tool from. Except it's a class B multi-tool that's 2 million units too expensive for me to buy. So that does me no good. I mean, I'd love a class B 23-slot multi-tool, but I don't have 2.8 million units to spend.

Alright, crisis averted. After visiting the destroyed freighter at the distress signal to get my hyperdrive blueprints, I came across a place that had some sort of planet scanner. It discovered an outpost for me on the planet, so I headed there. Found a Class C multi-tool with 7 slots, 7% mining increase and 16% Scanner increase (compared to the 5% and 13% my used multi-tool has), so I get a minor stat increase and two extra slots for 103,500 units.
And now I can finally install my analysis visor upgrade, a B-class nanite powered analysis unit, which gives +15% scanning radius and +4,045% flora analysis rewards.
So I'm back to where I was, just after wasting 100,000 units and wasting hundred of resources. With all the lifting off of planets, I've already drained close to a quarter of my 1000 units of uranium on refilling my launch thrusters.
And with going from planet 2 to space station to planet 2 to space station to planet 1 to space station back to planet 2, thank God for asteroids around planet 2 being full of Tritium as I had almost entirely drained my pulse engine fuel. Thanks to 15 minutes of blasting asteroids, I've got a nice little 500 count stockpile of Tritium built back up.

The free freighter will be available soon enough. It is a story mission that should pop when you warp (maybe more than once) and it will toss you into a firefight around a freighter. Glad you found that multi-tool. Remember in those hazardous planets there are some options available to extend your time roving around (not just suit upgrades to better deal with each type of storm/rads, etc). You can teleport your ship to you if it is far away by pressing up or down on the d-pad (forget which) and selecting the plane. Also with the terrain tool you can dig down and then sideways to get yourself out of a storm. I always keep a refiner on me in my inventory as it is a great place (underground) to wait out a storm and get some work done.
Back to looking for a base planet. Thought I had a winner but it was night and when day hit I saw that the whole planet was filled with tiny rocks on the ground everywhere and would be a pain to build in. Game has a weirdly small draw distance and it looks like if you travel just a bit there are no rocks but they slowly pop in.

Eventually you will come across a material called Pyrite, which will replace Tritium as your material of choice for pulse engine fuel. It is like Uranium where it takes very small amounts to fill up the pulse engine. Another tip is to remember to go to the vendor on the far left of the scan-tool salesman. There is a drop pod, so to speak, where you can upgrade your suit slots for units and not have to worry about finding a bunch of materials to open it up like you find on a planet. You can upgrade suit slots, cargo (higher capacity suit slots) and tech slots. If you have not customized your player, there is a computer to the left of it to customize the look and change colors, etc of your suit.

I'm assuming that's only in story mode? If you play in the creative mode I don't think there are any storylines.

Yeah, haven't found any Pyrite yet. But at least I actually found some Tritium, so my pulse engine is full again and I still have some 530+ Tritium remaining.
I did visit all of the vendors and saw the upgrades for my exosuit and ship and stuff. I only bought the analyzer upgrade as I'm sort of hesitant to spend a bunch of my extremely limit nanite clusters.
Though I don't recall seeing a drop pod at the space station. Or the outpost.
I'm assuming that's only in story mode? If you play in the creative mode I don't think there are any storylines.
This I'm not sure. I've only ever played Normal Mode on this, but I'm tempted to start up a Creative Mode save where I can just fuck around and build extravagant bases and stuff. Lol, I spend more time in NMS and Fallout 4 building bases and building other stuff than I do actually playing the story.

One good thing this game and Ghost Recon Wildlands has shown me, it's time for a new controller. Vehicle acceleration in Wildlands using the right trigger has been a pain in the ass recently and using the right stick in NMS to turn the camera has been janky, clunky, laggy and slow as hell.
That and the battery doesn't last for shit anymore. It seems like the controller's dying within a couple hours of use. But, considering it's the same controller that came with the system when I bought it back in May 2014, yeah, probably time for a new controller.

Well, I just discovered that my base is in primo position. I'm sitting just over 1,000u away from an abandoned building with whispering eggs up the ass.
First time, I parked a little bit away and destroyed an egg (but failed to pick up the larval core quick enough), before being chased by those terror things. Here I was expecting to be swarmed by those flying sentinels things, not goddamn monsters that pop up out of the ground suddenly.
I unloaded on them thinking I could just kill them and continue collecting goodies, only to realize they keep spawning faster than I can kill them. By that time, I had backed up so much to keep space between myself and them that I had to make a sprint to try and reach my ship, only to die right next to it.
So I respawned, grabbed my inventory, went back, destroyed another egg, actually grabbed the core this time and jumped in my ship and hauled ass out of there.
I've since got a nice little system down. Land my ship as close to on top of the whispering eggs as I can. Jump out, destroy egg, grab core, jump in ship, launch the fuck out of there, fly back to my base, wait a few seconds, fly back to the abandoned building, by which time all those things should have despawned, land, rinse, repeat.

Even better. After reading some comments on OS, I learned those little green fucks go away without having to fly away. Rather they go away after waiting enough time and a little encouragement from my bolt caster. Sweet! No more wasting my launch thrusters.
Already having 8 larval cores sitting in ship storage, enough open slots for another 27 eggs and enough resources to keep my hazard protection filled up while I hang out on the roof in between egg grabs.

Oh my god! This is so absurdly brilliant! When you find the whispering eggs, build a base computer. Put up walls around an entire nest of eggs. Go to a different nest, outside the walls, grab a core and spawn the terrors. THEN jetpack INSIDE the walls and collect all the cores from that nest of eggs. While the initial spawn of terrors, more won't spawn while you clean up wholesale inside the walled off and protected eggs!
I just cleaned house on 6 cores in less than 30 seconds!

Need suggestions.
After selling 40 of those cores for over 3.8 million units, I have 4.352 million units burning a hole in my pocket. Should I buy the Messenger of Storms multi-tool that's for sale at the space station (23 slot B-class rifle, +9% damage and +7% scanner for 2,764,500 units) or should I use all 4.3 million units towards trading someone at the space station for a shiny new and better ship?

Sent from my SM-G930V using TapatalkThis method works like a dream. I put up walls around two different nests and triggered the terrors by grabbing one unprotected egg. Jetpacked inside the first set of walls, cleared an entire nest in less than 30 seconds, Jetpacked over to the second set of walls, cleared another nest in less than 30 seconds. 13 larval cores collected in less than a minute and never once in danger.
It does take some time setting up, since you have to build a giant box around the nests, and you may need to go collect a bunch of carbon if you don't already have at least 500 carbon on you, but once you have everything set and you're ready to collect, you can wipe out nests and rack up larval cores in seconds. Less than 2 minutes of actual time spent blasting eggs and collecting larval cores, and I already have 20 cores sitting in my inventory.
Edit - Lmao, I just wiped out three nests, another 17 larval cores, in less than two minutes, one a singe spawn of those things. I put one huge box around two nests and a smaller one around a third. Spawned those assholes, Jetpacked into the giant box, wiped out two nests in seconds, Jetpacked into the second box and wiped out the third before the initial spawn wave started disappearing. I've got 37 cores sitting in my inventory with another 13 eggs to blast.
Edit 2 - My total haul at the end of an easy day's work blasting whispering eggs - 47 larval cores worth a grand spanking total of $4,465,000 units.

I randomly stumbled upon a drop pod tonight. Need ionized cobalt and one antimatter to repair the last two of the three broken sections for the suit upgrade. So to make it easy to find my way back upon collecting those, I set up a base computer right there so it'll be easy to find my way back.
Also stumbled upon my third building full of whispering eggs in just tonight's gameplay period after taking off flying from a monolith. Set up a base computer and saved for the night so I can immediately start building walls and collecting eggs tomorrow. Well, maybe after I visit the space station or a trading post as I'm still loaded down with the 47 larval cores from earlier.
Speaking of ionized cobalt, where the hell do you get cobalt? I know I've come across it once as I used to have some ionized cobalt in my inventory, but now that I need it for stuff, I can never find any.

Correct. The Atlas story line where I have already warped 80 times, so much that I have already flown past the final Atlas station and now I can only go toward the center. Once I figure out how to make everything needed I can go back with the teleporter.
Would love to give some pics but I still have not found a base yet. I have started a few but always found something I did not like about each. There is always something that prevents me from settling down. Mainly trying to find a S-Class scanner to go with my S-Class Ship. Already maxed out my suit, the tech slots and near the end of the cargo slots.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NXcU9XXjUY
However, this is now the old method as I'm an idiot and there is an even faster method. Put a wall around ONE nest of eggs, usually around 8 walls built up against the building to surround it. Then harvest an egg INSIDE that wall, then jetpack out. Congratulations! Those assholes are now all trapped inside a wooden prison and you're free to run around and harvest every single other egg on the ground.

Man, after getting used to the silky smooth movement and control of a fighter, my new hauler SUCKS to fly.
I had to make a trip to the space station to sell a bunch of stuff as my suit and ship inventories were full and I found more whispering eggs. While there, a B-class hauler landed that had a great shield bonus and 29 slots, compared to the 17 on my fighter, so I outright bought the hauler so I could have both a fighter and a hauler, plus my fighter was loaded down with essentials like magnetised ferrite, condensed carbon, uranium, ionized cobalt, Tritium and Chromatic Metal. So doing a swap wasn't an option.
Loaded up the hauler with the inventory from my fighter and headed back to the whispering eggs. Good lord that thing is a bitch to keep flying straight without wandering all over the place, especially while using pulse engines.

Lol, meanwhile I'm over 15 hours into my new game and I'm still in my original starting system. I've pretty thoroughly covered two planets, a caustic planet and supercritical planet.
I've only made a very brief visit to the frozen planet, while I've started doing some more in depth exploring of the fourth planet, a boiling planet, which is where I found my fifth drop pod, another building full of whispering eggs and more ancient ruins.
Unfortunately I'm gonna have to leave the system at some point, as I need that antimatter Blueprint and I've got to leave the system to get it. I'm racking up drop pods that I can't finish repairing without that antimatter Blueprint.

I have a few gripes with the base building. Someone needs to make a flatten option to clean up an area before building. Technically you do so when you lay down floors and in my case pavement (blue tiles) but that is glitchy as on a bigger base it just stops removing dirt anymore that is on top of what you place. Of course you can use the mine tool on the surface to remove it but that seems to create another problem. When you move far away from your base and come back some of that dirt reappears and eventually goes away as you stand there. In some cases it does not go away and is 50/50 on the ability to mine it again to remove it. There should also be an option, just like the create function of the mining too where you can change the size and shape and a shown area that will be mined when using the mine tool for base building.
When I build my large farm, it will be in the ocean. Also why are the storage units still so large in size? I should have buried them underground and it is still stupid they only have 5 slots (sure it holds 1000 each) but way too few slots for a game with so many different materials. Also you can't place these on floors you create even on a standard base floor. Just a big oversight here.

Here's the video of the easiest way I have found to harvest whispering eggs. Build a box of walls around a single nest of eggs (I went 3 by 3 to ensure they all spawned and were trapped inside the box), harvest an egg and grab the larval core from inside that box, then jetpack out.
Congratulations! You now have free reign to go after every single other egg around the building.
My new larval core collecting record is now 48 cores in less than 5 minutes. After collecting the final remaining eggs inside the box, I currently have 54 larval cores sitting in my inventory, worth $5.13 million units, from a single abandoned building, all in less than 10 minutes of total work.

Glacial planet, eh? Did it say there was Frost Crystal? You need the hazmat gloves to pick em but they are part of three ingredients (Coprite and Gamma Root being the others) that create glass and lubricant. Generally you have to start a base and start doing those quests to get those blueprints but it could also be found searching areas in planets the provide blueprints.
You farm the three items. They will create Glass and Lubricant. Which if you get the blueprint for Living Glass is made from them.
End Result (and I just started a few hours ago with limited resources so only 3 or the 5 slots were used) is pretty darn nice.

Not something you will need for quite some time, if ever. Here is a really good chart on what each item can be made into and with the ingredients involved. Once you get the base and the large refiner (which requires nothing to run) you can start making combinations (there are three slots).
http://imgur.com/8akSruc.jpg
Also the tech three and what it takes to create blueprints, length and amount needed to farm items to make money (The short grow time and only 3 items required is what makes Living Glass the best bet).

Also, is there a way to sell ships? I found a wrecked shuttle and claimed it, but taking a closer look at the damage, it's going to cost out the ass to fix everything. You can't sell ships, only exchange them for a better one or add them to your fleet. If the crashed ship was a valuable class A or S you could fix up the basic stuff just enough to get it to a space station or trading post to trade it in for a better ship than you currently have since it has a higher trade in value. In your case, it being a class C, not even worth messing with.

Looks like one story may be it. Framerate is getting a bit iffy, though I could try performance mode. You really only need to grow the Gamma Root and the Frost Crystals. Once you have a 100 or so Coprite you can mass produce it in the refiner with Oxygen. I was able to fill the whole room but once again stability and progressive loading in on all those plants is an eyesore, not to mention dirt and other glitches that show up when you leave the area and come back. There is a nice bug where the plants will still keep growing even after the fuel to the hydroponic tray is out. I might end up creating two base farms on a radioactive and arctic planet to grow much larger amounts planet in soil in it's environment (I am assuming it can be down without the trays as long as you have the right planet type).
2 loads plus a couple Living Glass I already had got me to a 20 Million plus sale. Even better is I just got the blueprint to install the Galactic trade terminal on my base.

Experimental update out on PC, should find it's way to consoles soon enough.
Details in spoiler since it is long.
Hello everyone,
After the initial round of addressing high priority stability and performance issues, the team have been working intensely on a large number of gameplay fixes and improvements, which we have now finished QA testing and are ready to release to Steam Experimental.
As always, thank you for playing the game and taking the time to report any issues you encounter! We appreciate your patience and understanding while we tackle the highest priority issues first.
Please note that due to the large number of changes in this patch, there is always the possibility it may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\st_[userid])
Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.
Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please post them here, or submit a ticket to Zendesk[hellogames.zendesk.com] with the phrase "Steam Experimental 08/08" in the ticket title.
To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Select "Code: 3xperimental" in the dropdown menu under "Select the beta you would like to opt into".

Looks like they might be nerfing the farming a bit. Also less of those whispering eggs. Love that they are getting rid of Nanites as an option for buried tech. Thumbs up for lowering how long it takes to scan something. The storms reduction might be the best of the update. Especially if you are on a Paradise planet to find out it is not such a paradise.
Which brings me to my base update. Deleted my current base as i was tired of the storms and dealing with the textures popping back in. Made a large base on a snowy planet and placed everything above the ground so that would not be an issue. It also allows me to grow Frostwart out in the open. Just got the biodome blueprint so I use them to keep the Gamma Weed.
Will toss up some pictures of the setup later tonight.

Where can I get Emeril?!?
I got the Blueprint for Atlas Pass v3 from a manufacturing facility just now. I need 200 Emeril and one microprocessor.

Emeril: You will find on Green Star planets
Cadmium: You will find on Red Star planets
Indium: You will find on Blue Star planets.
I mention all three because they are all colored star dependent. Ironically to get an Emeril Drive you need Cadmium. Indium Drive requires Emeril and Cadmium Drive is just Chromatic Metal (plus tech modules for all three). You will need the blueprint for the Three Drives to make it to these destinations. One quick way to get these drives, "without a blueprint" is to go to a space station or trading post and check out all the ships. Some of these ships, even the C level ones have one or more of these drives already equipped and functional (they do not require any fuel).
I have put at least 400+ hours in this game (most of that when I had it on the PS4) and not once have I come across an Atlas Pass v3. :smh:

And just like that two hours later and Polo gives be the Atlas Pass V3. :D About as useless and V1 and V2. :fp:
So new base. Built off the ground (mostly) to keep the issues with textures reappearing. Nine Biodomes for the Gamma Weed and have half of the Frostwort I wan to plant out in the open. The flat area next to the Biodomes are reserved for when I get a blueprint for the pad you can land your ship on and probably some of the vehicles you get, though I just started that part of the base story.

No clue honestly, it would have been on the PS4 when I used to scour planets like you are. I would put down a beacon on everything so I had a point of reference to come back to it. Unfortunately that would make navigating the planet a nightmare with icons everywhere and this was before you could summon a ship on demand, so getting far away from it would make it a PITA to find.

Well, I think I found my new get rich quick scheme. The new patch hit consoles today and they did indeed nerf whispering eggs, as each nest of eggs went from 7 or 8 pre-patch to 3 or 4 post-patch.
So my new money maker is buried technology modules! I spent hours this afternoon running around a corrosive planet on foot hunting every buried technology module I could find as I wanted to unlock every last thing in the Blueprint Analyzer. Well, I accomplish my goal. Every base building item, decoration, flag, light, etc is unlocked. Now I have no more use for salvaged technology.
And it turns out those things are valuable. 50,000 units each for a single salvaged techology. Spent half an hour collecting buried technology modules tonight while doing other stuff on-planet. I currently have 60 salvaged technology sitting in my inventory, waiting for me to return to someplace I can sell it for an incredibly easy 3 million units.
More units than I'll make harvesting the now nerfed whispering eggs, and decidedly less dangerous. And whereas I have to explicitly find abandoned buildings with whispering eggs, I can find buried technology modules every direction I turn. Things are like fucking herpes.

Or, just a suggestion/reminder. Spend those Nanites on 3 S Class visors that enhance the money you make scanning flora and fauna. You can make an easy million standing in one place and scanning for 5 minutes. Big and rare animals give me over 400,000 each and there are usually a couple per planet. Plus all the Nanites you get for renaming them when you are done. They slashed the farming a bit but I still get 560,000 for each Living Glass. Have 18 Biodomes, so each day I can get anywhere between 10-15 mil just harvesting.
Still trying to find an S Class scanner that is either Experimental or Alien technology. Stats on those are amazing. Even on a B or A they are pretty darn good. Finished all the base missions last night. Took forever. I did get 3 S Class upgrades to Jetpack and combined with the melee boost, it's a pretty fun way to get around a planet. In the space station I have enough in my tank that I can jetpack from the second floor and land on the other second floor with boost to spare and that is without the ability to melee boost.

I'm guessing those S class scanner upgrades are rare, because through two space stations and countless outposts and trading posts, and I think only found a single S class upgrade.
How do you start the base missions? I haven't seen anything pop up about base missions. And in addition to that, how do I set up a farm? I see nothing that would allow me to do farming stuff.
What do I have to do to get the Blueprint for that living glass? I'd gladly do that, but can't do shit without a Blueprint to make it.
How the hell do I get the large refiner? I've unlocked everything in the Blueprint analyzer, so apparently I have to get the large refiner somewhere else.
And are those warp drive upgrades backwards compatible? The hauler I bought early in the game at the space station came with an Indium drive, which allows me to reach blue star systems. Since it goes Red>Green>Blue for warp upgrades and reaching star systems, does having an Indium drive allow me to reach Red and Green star systems without needing Cadmium and Emeril drives installed?

And it sounds like a lot of stuff got slashed. Someone on OS was talking about how liquid explosive got slashed almost in half. They have a farm set up to make liquid explosive and now they get over 500,000 less when selling it.
I really hope they don't start doing a bunch of profit nerfing for stuff you can make and sell. If they start really cutting down the ways you can earn units and turn this game into a massive slogging grind, it's going to drive me away all over again. 60 hours into my post-NEXT save, the most I've earned is 5,000 nanites and 35 million units. I'm never going to get a large capacity A or S class ship at this rate, since those cost 100 million+ units by themselves.

You will find them on Gex Space stations (that is the only place i found this item in class S form). Not all Gex space stations have it, so it will require warping around. One you do find one, you can teleport to another space station then right back and it will be in stock again (they only sell one at a time). Also when on a space station make sure you are selecting the second item, "Purchase Upgrade Modules." Also if you buy these and decide to upgrade, you will have to repurchase them again since they are not blueprints and require no materials to make them. You will get a technology module if you delete it before upgrading to a new tool or ship.
Press up on your dpad and put down a base computer. Create a building and then put down a construction terminal to start base missions.
Living glass and the blueprints to make it are found during the base missions.
Large refiner and many other items are unlocked in the base building story.
I have heard that once you get blue you only need to keep Indium drive. I have all three so no way for me to test. If you can travel to red and green planets then you do not. Go to free explore and find red/green planets to see if you can jump to them.

It takes longer to farm all items and you do make less. Living Glass which was 696,000 is now 560,000 a unit. Still well worth farming this particular item, though your MMV on other items. The reason you are not making a bunch of money is you have been stationary and spending a bunch of time on the same planets. Mining used to the best way to make money back in the day but now it is all about the Scanner upgrades and farming. Money will come, you just need to start the base building line and getting those upgrades. You can get a large A class ship for much less than 100m. Want a better ship, go to a space station or trading post. As ships come in use your scanner, it will tell you if it is a class C, B, A or S and how many slots and tech slots it has plus the value of the ship, not including trade in value from your ship.

The free freighter will come after you have warped a few times. You will be put in a firefight to defend a freighter, once you defeat all the bad guys you will get a message from the captain to board the ship and he will give you the freighter. Be careful not to shoot near the freighter. Freighters have sections on it that hold materials and turrets for defense. If it thinks you are being aggressive, you will have and endless supply of sentinel ships coming to take you down. Find the closest planet or space station to escape, because they will not stop coming at you.

So I'm guessing because I have only been to two systems, both of them Vy'Keen, that would be why I can't find any class S visor upgrades.
How do I get the construction terminal? Only things I have available right now are Base Computer, Blueprint Analyzer, Signal Booster, Save Point, Communications Station and Portable Refiner.

I didn't know about that trick! I was running up to each ship and asking to buy their ship to see their class and inventory space. Scanning them for that info will save tons of time.
And yeah, I do need to jump out of my first two systems. I keep finding so much stuff to do, I just keep going from place to place. But it did help some. I currently have 54 million units, did have almost 6,000 nanites before buying some multi-tool upgrade modules. While I only have 25 main exosuit slots, I'm now up to 18 high capacity cargo slots and 13 technology slots thanks to the shit ton of drop pods I've found.
I've also already blasted out almost half of the milestones. I've already reached maximum milestone for On Foot Exploration (371ks), Alien Encounters (170), Words Collected (242 with 226 of those being Vy'Keen) and Units Accrued. I'm only Milestone 1 for Ships Destroyed (5), Milestone 8 for Sentinels Destroyed (61), Milestone 0 for Extreme Survival (0.0 Sols), Milestone 0 for Space Exploration (only 2 warps) and Milestone 2 for Planetary Zoology, having discovered all species on two planets.
For Lifeforms, I've been at Templar standing with the Vy'Keen since Wednesday, up to Friend with the Gek and Test Subject with the Korvax.
And one planet, in my second system, I managed to discover 154 sectors/save points/waypoints. :D

Alright, so in that case, that must have just been a random freighter I discovered. Someone on OS I think it was, said you don't have to accept the free freighter the first time you get offered it. Apparently you can decline to accept it and warp some more and you'll trigger the freighter firefight thing again and you can try to get a better freighter if the first free one sucks.

:D No stone left unturned I see.
As for the base, set the base terminal down. I would recommend finding a planet you like as you will be spending a lot of time there. Then go to the computer, interact with it and claim base (forgot to mention that part ), this will show a large top down view of how much area you have to make your base in. Now you have access to the blueprint items you discovered and base building items by pressing up on d-pad. Build one of those round or square prefab buildings, add a door and install construction terminal inside. Once created a little Gex friend will appear to start you on your way.

:D Yeah, I just kept flying around from building to building, scanning constantly as I went along. It worked wonders though! I found at least 15 or 20 drop pods on that single planet, I found dozens (had to be at least 50-60+) manufacturing facilities, observatories and transmission towers, so I ended up with crafting blueprints up the ass. Also found a lot of whispering eggs and opened at least 100 damaged machinery, which got me a ton of nanites and numerous A and S class upgrade modules for my exosuit, ship and multi-tool.
It was extremely time consuming, I spent literally the entire past week in real life, up through Thursday, on that single planet. But it gave me a hell of a jump start for leaving and jumping to new systems now.

First, just FYI as you walk in to see the two in the room up in the center and on the right is another opportunity to buy a scan tool. Tall round thing with a button in the middle.
One of the biggest PITA in this game is probably creating this problem. Happens anytime you want to do and event/quest, go back to someone after event, etc. You have to make sure that you have this particular event selected in the LOG of things to do. Make sure the Space Anomaly quest is selected and sometimes it takes a few seconds to kick in.

I hope you are renaming all those places you visit, that is a lot of Nanites, just from that one planet.
Also, something I recall being an issue for myself and many others. When you do discover all the creatures on a planet, it will not kick in (including the nanites for finding them all) until you click on the little paw that lights up. It is a silly decision by NMS but I thought I would warn you ahead of time.

Hmm, go back and speak with him again? Sometimes it takes awhile for the status of generating the mission and having it already completed and ready to turn in takes a bit. As long as there is not a counter on the screen that says Polo is busy and will be back in "X" amount of time, you should be good. Well, I've triggered the free freighter. Warped back to my original starting system to finish a mission and was met by a freighter under attack. The only bitch was I was in my hauler at the time, which has an obstructed shitty view. I managed to defeat the ships, after being used as a space piņata myself, and was offered the freighter, but it was a crappy 17 slot C class, so I reloaded.
Loaded back up, called my brand spanking new A class fighter that I bought earlier tonight for 13 million units, trading one of my busted to hell crashed ships that I found, and has lovely upgraded photon cannons, rockets and I can't remember the name but some bright ass beam that fucks enemy ships up. Defending that freighter is a cakewalk in that new fighter. Being A class, the damage it causes alone is massive, then add in the specific upgrades I bought with nanites for it.
I did the freighter defense two more times, but each time it was a shitty C class freighter with 17 and 15 slots. I just called it a night back at my pre-warp, pre-freighter fight save point and will try again tomorrow. I'm debating on trying the reloading over and over method until I get lucky and draw a RNG A or S class freighter, or if I should just decline it outright, move on with my missions, and hope the new free freighter fight I warp upon is a better class freighter.

Yeah, I mean I enjoyed the time I've spent on planet surfaces. I'm over 60 hours into my save and I've visited exactly 3 systems and warped only 4 times. But like I said, I found so many drop pods manufacturing facilities, transmission towers, observatories, monoliths, ruins, hundreds of damaged machinery, that I got a very nice jump start on things.
25 exosuit slots, 14 high capacity cargo slots, 13 technology slots, makes it much easier to carry around the essential elements with me, so I always have on hand a large supply of magnetised ferrite, condensed carbon, sodium nitrate, oxygen, uranium, regular carbon, cobalt, ionized cobalt, chromatic metal, copper, etc.
But, while I enjoyed the time, it's also draining. One entire real week spent on that single planet's surface (the one with the 154 waypoints), every time I'd fly towards something and sit there scanning the surface, it'd take an hour to get to that something because I'd discover 50 buildings along the way, stopping at each one.
Now, other than drop pods, abandoned buildings, manufacturing facilities, observatories, transmission towers, crashed freighters, monoliths, ruins, outposts and trading posts, I just keep flying when I'm on planet. Get things done faster and I can move on.

Alright, now it appears I'm opening stuff up. After the freighter firefight, I got the trigger to start Artemis' quest line, which also gave me a secondary mission of searching base computer archives for data. I'm assuming that's what will start me on the farming missions and give me the blueprints for stuff like living glass.

Well, we're not in Kansas anymore. I have no clue where the hell I am. I was following the Artemis quest line, met Apollo, did the sentinel stuff, went through the portal, met The Atlas, and am now in a random ass system.
I think I'm on the entirely opposite side of the universe. In my starting system, I was just under 700,000 light years away from the center of the universe. The system I'm in now is 695,000 light years from the center of the universe.
However, when I go into my Discoveries, the planets I discovered in my original starting system are over 938,000 light years away.
Also, I reached Galileo milestone. I've disappointed the last milestone is at 55 or whatever number it is (I'm currently at 58). I thought the milestones would keep going up to 90, since there are 9 milestone categories with a maximum milestone level of 10. Sort of sucks knowing that I've topped out on max milestones overall, even though I'm still only level 3 for Shops Destroyed, level 2 for Planetary Zoology and still on level 0 for both Extreme Survival and Space Exploration.

Portals are a bit confusing but keep in mind you can go to any space station and use the teleporter to go back to where you came from. Also in the base building you can create a teleporter to put it on-site. You can also use Right Stick down on Altlas missions to change the progress for the Atlas back to the system you are on.

What's the max number of slots for everything?
Right now on my exosuit, I've got 25 general, 33 cargo and 14 technology.
Highest I've come across on a ship was 39+6.
And my multi-tool that I bought early in the first couple hours of playing has 23 slots.

Lmao, well, I had found a planet that wasn't terrible. It's a dusty planet that gets down to -80 degrees at night but 62 degrees during the day. However, I'm currently riding out a firestorm in my ship, with temperatures of 209 degrees.
And now that the storm is over, it's already night out. So the temperature instantly dropped from 209 degrees straight to -80 degrees, lol.
And right as daybreak hits and the temperature recovers to 62 degrees, here comes another firestorm and it's right back up to 209 degrees. Lol. :fp:
The second firestorm just cleared, and literally 10 seconds later, I get another warning of a third firestorm incoming. This is ridiculous.

Alright, so in that case my tech slots are already full, and I'm almost 3/4ths of the way to full on cargo slots.
That is one thing that was good about my week spent on one planet. Drop pods galore. I have only spent actual units on 4 exosuit slots at space stations, only 2 or 3 million units tops. Every other slot has come from drop pods found on planets.
And I'll hang with my B class multi-tool in that case as I have a lot of upgrade modules on it and it's 23 slots. So I'll keep that until I get lucky and find a 24 slot S class alien multi-tool.
And do you know the max slots for other ships? Specifically fighters? And freighters?

and you are seeing why I warped halfway across the gallery to find a perfect base, then realize it was not perfect and warped even more to find a descent snowy base and buy the S-Class winter protection gear (I have all four now - cold, heat, toxic and radiation). Just makes it easier to deal with the storms and not have to hide out when they hit or dig a hole. Just FYI the cold and heat upgrades are actually reversed right now, but it is being patched.

Holy shit. I think I found my goldilocks planet! In a system near where I ended up after going through the portal, my 6th system visited total, the main planet is a temperate planet. It only gets down to 52 at night and 61 during the day. I've been on the planet surface for 15 minutes and no storms so far.
It has ordinary resources, ample fauna, high flora, limited sentinels, the weather says choking humidity, and the available resources are albumen pearls, Sodium, paraffinium and copper.
Well, scratch that. While inside interacting with a manufacturing facility, a superheated rainstorm blew in. I came out to scorching rain and 201 degrees temps.

As you end up upgrading your technology you are going to need a ton of Nanites, to repurchase things. I found this trick mentioned on Reddit and it works like a charm. Also you can make a ton of money. This will be more successful as you warp more to new space stations.
Go to space station. Land and jump to the left where the teleporter is. Go to the missions board cubicle. Only select the ones that give Nanites or Units, unless the reward is something you also want. Stick to the basic things. Kill (x) Animals. Kill (x) Sentinels. Feed (X) animals. Scan (X) plants or minerals. Then after selecting them, teleport to each of the space stations and repeat the process of selecting the same ones. The space delivery is the worst one as it is the one that requires you to go back to all the different systems, fly to trading post and then repeat the process on each system you got the mission from (ignore this one).
Now the key is to remember what the higgest (X) is and make sure you do that many of a require task. So if you have three kill (x) amount of animals and one is 8, another is 16 and the last is 30, you only need to kill 30. Once you have completed the highest value for each mission selected, go to any space station, does not matter which. Turn in the missions and reap the rewards. You also get to start leveling up all the different guilds and increase your rating with the Gex, Korvak and Vy'keen. Does not matter who you turn the missions to, it is based on who gave you the mission.
In my last run I made 3 mil units and 5K Nanites. Now I need that S-Class Scanner to use them on.

I haven't done too bad on nanites so far. Got up to almost 6k after my week on a planet, blew most of it on upgrade modules and every Blueprint I could find at space stations, and now I'm back up to 4,400 nanites. Currently have 9 missions to turn in.
I also read something on Reddit last night. Apparently you can make your own nanites! Using that stuff like the goo you clean out of terminals in abandoned buildings and other worthless stuff like junk from cargo pods. It's not cheap, you need like 500 of that worthless stuff to make 50 nanites, but it's another possibility.
I also found my first S class scanner last night, in a Vy'keen system space station.
Also just unlocked my 40th cargo slot. Almost there, then just 23 general slots and I'll be done with the exosuit.
Edit - Make that two S class scanners now.

Landed on the freighter, it's a max slot (34 + 4 tech) A-class Imperial Class Star Destroyer, a varient of the Venator design freighter. Only one bigger for Venator design is the Resurgent Class, which I still hope to upgrade to at some point. But for now, this baby will do! Especially since it was free.

You beat me to it but I finally found the only ship I will ever need. The S-Class Hauler with 48/8 slots. It was a ton of units but well worth it. I think I am at the max of 6 ships to own (all Class S but different types) anyway. Crazy part is there was a Class A 48/8 hauler right next to it. It was a sexier looking ship but, stats. Gotta go with the stats.

Now if I can just find an Alien S Class 24 slot Scan Tool. I would settle for any model as long as it is S Class and 24 slots. It's more just to say I finally found it. My A Class has 23 slots and does a ton of damage and mines super fast. I can take down a Walker in around a minute. Would miss my scanner upgrades as I got them maxed out for profit on Fauna. Took a lot of Nanites to get the three I wanted. Big creatures net me 475K and I could probably hit 500K if I got lucky swapping out one of the upgrades.
SmoothPancakes
08-16-2018, 12:48 PM
Nice! I haven't put any upgrades on my hauler. Even though it's S class, I'm currently using it exclusively for storage. Even deleted the phase beam and delimiter mod so I could have two extra spaces.
Right now, my A class fighter is my main ship that I use to fly around planets, systems and warp (though the freighter may become my main instrument when warping), while my hauler, my exotic and my other three ships are essentially just expansive storage slots.
I finally got my exosuit cargo slots filled up last night with the materials I want and in the order I want. So I shouldn't have to worry about running out any time soon of carbon, condensed carbon, phosphorus, oxygen, dioxide, sodium, sodium nitrate, chromatic metal, cobalt, ionized cobalt, pyrite, uranium, pure ferrite and magnetized ferrite. Then have 500 each of cadmium, activated cadmium, Emeril, activated Emeril, indium, activated indium, pugneum, coprite, mordite, ammonia and something else filling up the other slots.
Meanwhile, my general exosuit slots are nearly maxed out, I'm sitting at something like 38 or 40. Just get those last slots and I will be 100% slots for exosuit and multi-tool (though it is only a B class rifle).
Now that I've almost got my exosuit maxed out and finally have my freighter, time to start the hunt for a goldilocks planet to make my permanent home base. I forsee a shit ton of warping in my future.

Sounds almost like my Cargo slots. If only you had the game on Xbox One, we could compare who is the most OCD of storage. I keep almost all of what you have except Cadmium, Emeril and Indium. Have those ten storage lockers filled with 1,000 of most plants and other items that are on a need to have basis. Freighter filled with a duplicate of most cargo items, so I never run low. Never use my freighter but once I find one with a big hyper-drive I will use it for warping. Already have the Star Seed installed that shows you where all the black holes are.

Yeah, those were "DLC" trophies. I got the platinum for the main base game.
Also, to add to my pictures of my new home planet/system, some pictures of my gigantic ass freighter. In the last two photos, I had my ship down to as close to the freighter surface as the game would let me. That thing absolutely dwarfs my ship, and really just about everything. Even other freighters look tiny compared to that beast. And that's not even the biggest! As someone who played this day 1, you suggest I start over when I pick it back up?

I recall seeing a bunch of issues with pre-existing saves but I think most have been patched up by now. If you have not done any of the Story stuff/Base Building it probably would not be a bad idea to start over with all the changes to the technology, blueprints, etc.

I was still at the beginning of my old save file, only had just got off the planet surface and reached the first space station. So it was a very easy choice for me to restart.

Holy shit, they increased resource capacity to 10,000!
Still same amount of inventory slots, but now instead of only being able to hold 250 or 500 of each resource in each inventory slot, you can hold 10,000!
Resource mining just huge, and I can now build the base of my dreams!

My kids are downloading it as we speak. Curious about the VR mode. Will post their impressions of it later. They have never loved this game but have messed around with it here and there.

Oh I've loved it, I just end up playing it day in and day out for weeks until I burn out on it. Then I don't touch for months until the next big update comes along and then I get the itch to dive right back in.

I was going to copy and paste the update and patch notes for the release of NMS: Beyond, but honestly, they are so massive and there is SO MUCH talked about in the release/update notes and patch notes, I'm just going to post the link to the notes on the NMS website.

That's my style too. I play the game now stop for a few weeks then don't touch it for a year. Based on this update I need to play this again ASAP. Thanks for the update. Good to hear from you again Smooth! It's been too long.
My daughter is really liking the VR experience! I haven't seen her play it but will try later.

Yeah, it almost exactly a year since I last played. I think my last save that I loaded up last night was August 18th, 2018. :D
It's almost like trying to learn all over again what's going on, since it's been so long. Trying to stock up on raw resources, since we can now hold up to 10,000 of each resource, try to max out my most used resources and stockpile for future needs.
Then I'm hoping to start properly building my base, since I originally had finally found my goldliocks system when I last played last August, a lush, habitable, perfect weather planet, with nearby frozen, nuclear and scalding hot planets, so I have every resource I could ever need or want in that one system.
I built a little quickie base, essentially just plopping down some floors, walls and a ceiling, so I could put down terminals and be protected from sentinels or any hostile wildlife. Now to actually try and properly build a full functioning base.
And absolutely! I've had so much going on this summer since E3, I haven't had much chance to pop in here and see what's been happening. Need to try to start hanging around here again more often.

For the record, this might just be the best "quality of life" change/update in NMS Beyond.
Technology can now be installed in stages, allowing incomplete tech to be placed in an inventory and its individual components added over time.
Technology can now be moved after installation.
Last night, I spent probably an hour moving all of my technology on my starship, my freighter, my multi-tool and my suit's technology slots around, maximizing everything. I significantly improved the weapons, thrusters and hyperdrive on my starship, seriously boosted my weapons on my multi-tool, as well as move some things around to fix bad placements of technology in the past. Everything is completely optimized now thanks to the ability to move technology anywhere you want, even after it's been installed.
Sadly, my ship went from like 18 free slots to only 2, but I massively upgraded my infra-knife, my photon cannons, my warp drive, my thrusters, my shields, etc. My ship is more powerful and better in every single area now than it was before last night. Plus with a maxed out suit inventory, plus the ability to carry 10,000 of every resource in my extra capacity inventory on my suit, I have something like 30+ open inventory slots in my suit right now, so I don't even need to carry anything on my ship anymore.
