The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) (https://www.e3expo.com/) takes place this week in Los Angeles, California from Monday through Thursday.

Monday features press conferences from Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and Sony. Nintendo's digital event takes place on Tuesday morning. Spike will televise the Xbox and EA events with the rest being streamed online at various sites. One such locale is video game streaming platform Twitch signed a three-year deal in March to be the official streaming partner of E3, however other streams will be available at IGN, Gamespot, and Spike/GT.

My thoughts:



A lot of this is really exciting information, particularly the news on The Last Guardian. One disappointing element are the release dates on many of these titles. Many of them are scheduled for release mid-late 2015. I am beginning to worry about both the Xbox One and the PS4, as first-party content for both consoles has been abhorrent and if they don’t get some exclusive titles or even some solid third-party titles on these consoles soon, I know consumers will lose interest.



So Game-Focus faithful, is information mere speculation and rumour or do you think is more than just a grain of truth to these insights!? Your opinion would be much appreciated.

What debacle? They won E3 last year with a steady stream of games while Sony had Killzone, Knack, and...? The debacle was at the pre-E3 event where they announced the price and the prospect of their console being always online.

Everyone just forgets how bad Sony's conference was because of them taking shots at Microsoft at the end. Truly one of the most boring conferences I've ever witnessed. On the flip side, that should be much better this year. The only things they can show that we know about already are The Order and Uncharted. Everything else should be relatively new.

Nothing I hadn't heard about pre-conference. The conference was solid and MS CLEARLY learned its lesson from last year - people want to hear about GAMES at E3 so that's pretty much the entire conference for them.

Again, you do realize their entire E3 conference last year was games as well, right? The same one Sony spent half it's time talking about entertainment apps while only showing Killzone, Knack, and I think The Order. You're confusing E3 with Microsoft's Xbox REVEAL conference, which is where all the controversy and talk about TV occurred.

Microsoft ended on Crackdown 3. Again, not my type of game. Never enjoyed the first two.

Part of why this year's conferences are going to suck. Halo Collection leaked months ago. Project Beast from Sony leaked months ago.

I realize Sony still has to go, but I'm really not expecting much.

Next year's conference should be MUCH better for both Sony and MS.

Still, though, the Halo Master Chief Collection is great value. Every main Halo game all with their own multiplayer on their own engines with every single map on dedicated servers and at 60FPS? Holy shit.

Yeah, they were REALLLLY touting the improved defense. Which means offense will be completely worthless this year. EA does this every time. They overpower one side of the ball and completely neuter and destroy the other side. After a couple years of complaints, they finally fix the fucked up side of the ball, only to completely re-destroy the other side. They have no damn clue what the word middle ground means. It's either all or nothing on one side or the other.

"Fantasy courses." You can play legitimate on real courses, but apparently there's fantasy ones that you can play as well. As someone who's not really into golf, I like the idea. It spices up the game play and makes it much more appealing to me.

Why would they mention it unless they had some "core" games for it? Spencer has been saying for awhile now this show was going to be all about core games. They're not going to give up on it (it's a really neat way to navigate the system), but I don't necessarily think there's going to be a ton of actual games developed for it, either. I'm perfectly okay with that, too. My interest in it has nothing to do with games, although I have seen some neat game play techniques developers use via voice commands.

Rainbow Six is BY FAR the most jaw dropping game I've seen today. I did like what I saw from AC Unity, The Division and even BF Hardline left me impressed. But Rainbow Six? Based on what I've seen in the PS Now beta, I wouldn't get my hopes up. It looks like you'll be renting games on an individual basis and you can rent them for either 1, 7 or 30 days.

At least that's how it's set up in the beta. If they change that between now and the official release, who knows. But that is how it's set up right now.

Yeah, Sony's was hit and miss. They started off pretty good, they had some high points in the middle and at the very end. But the rest was just completely utter shit with the non stop app and TV bullshit. I'm not sure anyone really truly won E3 this year. Everyone had some high points and some very low points. Still the most impressive trailer I've seen today was Ubisoft with Rainbow Six: Siege.

Yeah Sony exclusives: TLOU; UC4; 1886; Bloodborne (?); LBP3 and Let It Die (?) were the Sony exclusives. I didn't see all of MS' conf but Halo is obviously a big one for them.

Bloodborne is an exclusive.

The only ones in the Microsoft conference were Halo, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Fable Legends, Phantom Dust, Scalebound, and Crackdown 3.

The first 3 are really the only ones that interest me, though, which falls right in line with only 3 from Sony interesting me: Uncharted 4, The Order, and Bloodborne.

Like I said, eh conference all around. Hopefully some cool news comes later in the week.

Because the data is on Rockstars server, they only mention that your multiplayer data will be carried over. It is also coming for the Xbox One and would assume it will work the same way. It just ties into your GTAV/Rockstar online account.

I was gonna say, if they managed to carry over my single player save data, the hell did they manage that, lol. Well, since the GTA community on here is predominantly PS3/PS4, I'll get the next gen version of GTA V for the PS4 instead of the One. I've got plenty of people on my friends list and on my crew list to play with on the 360.

So we have Dying Light (developed by Techland), which was originally going to be the sequel to Dead Island/Dead Island Riptide (also developed by Techland) and now Dead Island 2 (developed by a different company - Yager) both coming out in early 2015. Deep Silver is the publisher for both but I just find it amusing to see the developers switch. Fortunately I did enjoy Dead Island and will buy both.

I never played the halo series, shooting was too weird ( to used to cod and BF shooting) but for all the games at 60 bucks I'd give it a go and go threw the campaign. SO many hours of game play right there. .

They could indeed make allot of $ and would probably immediately become the #1 video game publisher. However, I disagree with Rudy that they will "eventually" have to do it (any more than Sony's or MS' in house teams will eventually have to do it too)

Nintendo has a TON of cash - they have a very strong balance sheet (last time I checked). In effect, they could release 2-3 more generations of bad consoles and not be forced to do anything.

They never sold their console at a loss. The gaming market has changed. I don't think there is enough room for 3+ consoles to make money.

It's not the current Nintendo userbase. It's the userbase who played the old school Nintendo games who already have a PS4 or XB1 that would increase Nintendo's revenue. Imagine how much Mario Kart 8 would sell if it was on XB1 and PS4. Same goes with Zelda, maybe even Mario.
