On behalf of everyone at EA and Visceral Games, I’m fired up to confirm our next project – Battlefield Hardline. This is a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love – the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.

Several years ago, I was at an internal EA meeting in Barcelona with creative leaders from across the company. It was here I met Karl Magnus Troedsson, the GM of DICE, for the first time, and we immediately began talking about games. I’ve always loved Battlefield and KM was a huge fan of Dead Space, so we started talking about different ways we could work together, different ways we could take Battlefield and action games in a new direction. And from that point, the project that would become Battlefield Hardline was born.

I wish I could tell you more now – more about the ways we are adding new twists and turns to the foundation of Battlefield multiplayer, more about how we’re bringing our strengths at Visceral to single player. But the wait won’t be too long – we’re looking forward to sharing more with you on June 9.

Stay tuned for more information about Battlefield Hardline at E3 and sign up for updates at our web site www.battlefield.com/hardline.

Thanks,
Steve Papoutsis

It's a neat idea, so it could be good. I'm not holding my breath, though. I've NEVER seen a game with so many problems at launch as Battlefield 4 had, and it took them MONTHS to fix a lot of them. Hopefully it's good.

I thought this leaked vid made the game sound & look appealing. It would seem that Visceral/DICE put an emphasis on single player and not just MP like most shooters. I'm interested in more info, which I assume will be at E3.

The naming system makes more sense than BH I, BH II, BH Current Warfare, etc. but I hope the storyline actually - you know - incorporates something *factual) about Omaha. The trailer mentions a cross-country aspect, so I guess we'll see.

I could be interested in this in regards to Heist Mode and Rescue Mode. Heist Mode REALLY makes me think of the fun as hell heists in GTA V. If they were to do Heist Mode right in BF Hardline, I'd be willing to buy the game for the multiplayer of that game mode alone.

A beta for upcoming police-themed FPS Battlefield Hardline will be held on the PlayStation 4, and attending Sony's special "E3 Experience" event next week could be a way to get in, according to a new report. IGN readers who RSVP'd to the event were reportedly emailed a code for the Battlefield Hardline beta as a thank you for confirming their attendance.

The Battlefield Hardline beta will supposedly include "two new game modes" playable on a map called High Tension. Separately, an unspecified "source" told IGN that the Battlefield Hardline beta is indeed real and coming to the PS4. It's unclear if the rumored Battlefield Hardline beta will be exclusive to the PS4 or if PC and Xbox owners will also get a shot at it.

It wouldn't be much of a surprise to learn that Sony and Electronic Arts had teamed up to offer PlayStation players exclusive Battlefield goodies. After all, every expansion for Battlefield 3 came to PlayStation 3 first.

Announced last week, Sony's "E3 Experience" brings a live-stream of the company's E3 2014 press conference on the evening of Monday, June 9 to movie theaters across the United States and Canada. Sony previously teased that attendees would receive a special bonus gift, and it's now looking likely that the Battlefield Hardline beta could be that exact gift. You can sign up to attend at the "E3 Experience" website.

A beta version of a game that will inevitably still be in beta for 6 months following release. Sweet gift if that's what it really is. :D

Hell, Battlefield 4 is STILL in beta as far as I'm concerned. A game the size of Battlefield still rubber band lagging 7 months after release. :smh:

I really like the different types of vehicles you can use on both the cops and robber's sides. From the beta, it seems like vehicles are more ready available that in past Battlefields (at least on the ground). I like how can spawn right into cars and bikes.

Got the beta lastnight and played 3 rounds.

Not familiar with Battlefield so as expected I sucked and had a difficult time making it to the objective lol

I did take out a few people though and seemingly ran into everything that I could when I tried driving vehicles. Figured I couldn't change the view so I kept getting dizzy moving the right stick while driving.

Press in the right stick to change your view while driving. If you're a passenger in the car and push in the right stick, you'll climb out of the car and sit on the door to get a better shooting angle while riding.

It was just announced today via the Battlefield Blog (http://blogs.battlefield.com/2014/07/bfh-will-launch-2015/?utm_campaign=bf-social-us-socom-tw-bfh-release-update-072214-tw-prev-site-ramp&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&sourceid=bf-social-us-socom-tw-bfh-release-update-072214-tw-prev-site-ramp&cid=23523&ts=1406060334891) that Battlefield Hardline will be delayed into 2015. This just adds yet another title that is set to launch in an already loaded 2015. Earlier this summer, people got to see an early build of the game via a beta. While it wasn't perfect, it was pretty good, and the game modes were pretty fun. With the disasterous launch of Battlefield 4 for most players, EA wants to make sure this launch is flawless. That is one of the two reasons why I'm not bothered by the delay. The other is the fact that we're still getting Battlefield 4 content, and speaking for myself, I'm still putting in some good time into the game. There is still some DLC left to launch for it, so there would have been a good chance that it would have been muddled with the Hardline launch. Click to continue reading EA's post from the Battlefield Blog:

Today we are announcing that Battlefield Hardline will launch in early 2015. Obviously, this is big news, so I’d like to address why we’re making this change.

Back at E3, we launched a beta for Hardline — we wanted to not only show you the game, but to let you play it for yourselves. Millions of you jumped in and had a great time. As a result, the Visceral Games team learned a lot from players about what they wanted in the game. We’ve been pouring over the data and feedback, and have already been putting a lot of it right into the game and sharing it directly with you.

This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans.

Here are a few of the things the new timing will allow us to accomplish:

1. Multiplayer Innovation: Coming out of our E3 beta, internal focus tests, and work with our community, we have received a lot of great Multiplayer thinking. We’re going to be adding some new feature ideas direct from the community that will evolve the cops and criminals fantasy into a truly unique Battlefield Multiplayer experience.

2. Single Player Story Depth: In order to ensure our Single Player experience delivers on player expectations, we’re spending more time polishing our core features, as well as adding a few new ones that will support a deeper “crime revenge” story experience.

3. Stability: This has been a focus for our team since day one and we’re going to be using the extra time to continue to optimize the game for a stable launch. We have learned a lot from Battlefield 4, are continuing to learn from our Community Test Environment and will learn more from another Hardline beta. More time allows us to surface issues that the team can attempt to fix prior to launch.

We are doing all of this for one reason. Because we want Battlefield Hardline to be the best game it can be, and so that we can create the best environment for a smooth launch for our players. We will give you updates on our progress and we’ll regularly share updates along the way via Battlefield.com/Hardline as well as the Battlefield social channels.

In addition to the ongoing development of Hardline, it’s important to note that the DICE teams continue to drive Battlefield 4. We continue to explore new opportunities for improvements and we are still releasing new content, including “Dragon’s Teeth,” the fourth expansion pack that launches worldwide on July 29, and “Final Stand” coming later this year. We remain committed to giving you the best BF4 experience possible.

Karl Magnus Troedsson
DICE VP & Group GM

Needs more than a delay. It seems like nothing more than a $20 or $30 expansion to Battlefield 4 to me. On the flip side, I've been playing Battlefield 4 a ton lately and it seems that they've fixed most of the horrific lag that the game suffered from for so many months.

Wise decision to delay, though. Even if it was amazing (and it definitely isn't), it was going up against numerous HEAVY hitters - Destiny, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Evolve, Master Chief Collection, etc... Early next year is pretty barren so far so it was the smart thing to do.

Battlefield 4 is running a promotion between today and the end of Saturday to gin up interest in the upcoming Battlefield Hardline beta. If the community racks up 2 billion points in Battlefield 4's Rush mode, then Hardline's Heist mode will be unlocked for the beta.

This task begins today at noon ET and will run until 2.59 a.m. ET on Sunday.

Battlefield Hardline's open multiplayer beta will take place next week, according to an Electronic Arts announcement this morning, released alongside a trailer.

The cops-vs-robbers multiplayer shooting game will run from Feb. 3 to Feb. 8 and will be available on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. In Battlefield Hardline, heavily armed cops are pitted against equally tooled-up criminals in a contest for terrain, loot and lives.

The beta will feature three different maps including an urban downtown setting and a rural ghost town. Various modes will be available including Hotwire, in which both teams seek to possess stolen cars dotted around the map. Heist is based on a bank robbery, with various exits and entry points. Conquest is also available, offering battles for up to 64 players. Courtesy: Polygon

Hardwire is a blast, it's like domination, but instead of set areas to sit in and capture, it's specific cars you have to grab and hold on to.

There are some good game modes. Different game modes along with familiar ones.

The gunplay is a little better than the beta, but still isn't as good as Destiny. I don't like the scope that is default on the first machine gun on the first category (can't remember the name).

As for the story mode, I'm enjoying it so far.

Blood Money makes the game for me. Any other mode is to just mix it up. Eventually I'll get to the story as it seems to be better than average for a shooter.

I've finally joined the party. Picked up the Deluxe Edition (plus Premium separately) for 50% off in the Extended Play Sale. Been going through the campaign first, currently on Episode 7 of 10. The campaign's actually pretty decent, I'm enjoying myself. Once I knock out campaign, I'll jump into multiplayer before later going back and making a second campaign sweep for any missed trophies.

I picked the game up for cheap and really enjoyed it as well. An underrated game (I generally like the story and cop show format) with lots of easy trophies.

Yeah, you can rack up a bunch of trophies extremely easily. They pretty much gift wrap you around 37 trophies in campaign. A couple may take a few tries to get them, but the rest, a solid 30 trophies come with minimal effort. There are only three multiplayer trophies, so getting the platinum shouldn't be too bad to get.

Just finished up the campaign. Not half bad. Certainly better than most of the recent COD campaigns have been. These guys actually put a bit of effort in Hardline.

And it's a trophy whore's (*cough* JB *cough*) wet dream. With just a single play-through of the campaign, I racked up 34 trophies. I'm only 6 trophies away from getting the Platinum.

I need to complete all single-player episodes on Officer/Veteran/Hardline difficult to wrap up the single-player trophies. I'm assuming it's like COD, if I were to just jump straight to Hardline difficulty, then I'll get credit for completing the episodes on Officer and Veteran too.

Then for multiplayer, I need to win 5 Heist and 5 Blood Money matches; take down 25 enemies with the T62 CEW taser; and kill 25 enemies with a MAC-10 and kill 25 enemies with a double-barrel shotgun. Four silvers and two golds away from one platinum.

I wish I could get my money back for the Premium on this. No one plays it :smh: I love this game so it's frustrating that no one is playing the DLC. Plenty of people playing the base maps at least.
