THANK. GOD.
Kotaku has obtained marketing material for the Chicago-set action game Watch Dogs that states the title will ship for "all home consoles" during this holiday season.
This lines up with comments from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, who said last year during a financial call that Watch Dogs would be out sometime in 2013.
The poster for Watch Dogs features quotes stating the game will be a "truly next-gen adventure," though it does not specify any consoles. Next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony are believed to be on store shelves for this holiday season. Sony may even announce the PlayStation 4 next week.
The poster also features the words "Power Up Rewards," suggesting the material leaked out of GameStop.
Watch Dogs was announced during Ubisoft's 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo media briefing last June with no official word on platforms or a release date. It is an all-new intellectual property in development at Ubisoft Montreal that focuses on hacking.
Representatives from Ubisoft and GameStop were not immediately available to comment.

That's gotta be a placeholder... no way they could get away with that price. Considering they theoretically won't allow used games, I would see prices dropping rather than going up.

New trailer is essentially showing the previously gameplay footage in a trailer format. It also highlights that users will theoretically be able to hack into another player's game and monitor them with security cameras (like CLW's last video discusses).

EDIT: Nevermind just noticed the Sony video was the same as the last. This game looks REALLY good and since my wife lived in Chicago during medical school I'll be curious to see just how real the Chicago in the game is.

It definitely has that feel to it. I'm thinking it will likely come down to (in no particular order): (1) Beyond: Two Souls; (2) The Last of Us; (3) Watchdogs; (4) GTA V.
Put a gun to my head and right now I'd probably pick The Last Of Us just going off of Naughty Dog's track record.

Yeah The Last Of Us is going to be AMAZING! But with it being solely on the PS3, and Watch Dogs being on both consoles, I really think that will give Watch Dogs the edge it needs. No doubt GTA V is going to be good, but its still GTA...kind of a been there, done that feel.
Now I know nothing about Beyond Two Souls so I can't speak on that title.

Agreed. Uncharted 3 was the worst of the trilogy. IMO Uncharted 2 was the best.
With that said, and sorry to derail the thread, I am glad that Naughty Dog decided to take a break from the Uncharted series and do something fresh.

I am sure someone will make it their GOTY. No need to mark it down with hundreds of sites doing GOTY thingies. Of course the one that will end up with the most is GTA V. Not that it really matters. Tomb Raider is my GOTY so far and that is all that matters to moi.

Watch_Dogs delayed until Spring 2014 (http://blog.ubi.com/watch-dogs-delay/).
Watch Dogs was set to release in November for PS3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U. That is until today as publisher Ubisoft has announced on its blog that the open-world hack title will now arrive in Spring 2014.
"Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming," Ubisoft said in a statement. "It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014."
"We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now? We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience."

Yeah, but it was just so sudden. They've been releasing trailers, gameplay videos and gameplay demos for months. For them to get down to the final month and then push it back because they're not ready yet, just surprising and out of the blue.

Meh from what I have read its been a very controlled release and even industry "insiders" haven't seen any more than we have really with the teaser vids. Plus the hype for this game is pretty massive (especially PS4 users for whatever reason are really excited about this title - more so than XB1 users appear to be - for whatever reason) so a bugged filled game would have hurt the company's image.
They also have AC IV coming out still at launch. IMHO better to release one of their titles during the Holiday season and another during the spring/summer season to even out their income and potentially expand the # of sales for their two big titles.

Yeah, good point there. Ultimately, it works out better for me. Between an Xbox One, and multiple games coming out next month, I was already going to be tapped out on money. Pushing this back to the Spring works for me and is $60 less I have to spend next month.

I think between AC4 coming out and forcing people to choose with an already small customer base, it makes sense, especially for a new IP. Added, I imagine they saw what GTA V was all about and decided they could improve their game to some degree.

Yeah and who knows maybe the big issue is the online hack your buddy thing. That seems REALLY cool and if it doesn't work people will not be happy. In any event, it allows me to potentially pick up a different launch title now for PS4.

Clear indication to me that they game isn't going to be any good. Glad I decided to forgo playing it anyway. Assassin's Creed in the future is dumb anyway and there's no fuckin' way they have enough "random" encounters programmed to make it actually feel random. Bethesda tried like hell to make that seem the case in Oblivion and Skyrim, but both failed miserably at it. Doubt a shitty company like Ubisoft would be able to do any better. They've never made a good game and only published a handful of a decent games (last great game they even published was Grandia 2 for the PS2 and PC in '97).

That's a pretty large leap to say just because they're delaying it. GTA V was delayed and the response to it is overwhelmingly positive, nevermind just the sales numbers themselves.

Yeah, I'm not seeing that. Grand Theft Auto V, part of a series with a long history and a massive following, ramped up with major marketing, so them selling, at the last number I saw, 22.63 million games, is easily understandable. A brand new IP in Watch Dogs selling 6.2 million? I'm just not seeing it.
I think it'll have respectable sales numbers, maybe somewhere around 2-3 million. But I don't see them hitting 6.2 million. Hell, take Assassin's Creed III. That's a huge series for Ubisoft, probably their #1 series (not really knowing a whole lot on their entire list of IPs). Taking into account numbers from PS3, 360, PC AND WiiU, they've only cleared 10.6 million games sold on AC III. They expect a brand new IP, that has some things implemented that no one has experienced in past games, to sell 6.2 million games, and only come up 4.4 million games behind an established series like Assassin's Creed? Yeah, I don't see it happening.

Really? Why?
1) I don't find it fun
2) It doesn't respect the player's time. If I die in a mission, why do they send you all the way back to a point BEFORE you start the mission? Fuck you game, I've got better things to do than repeat the last 15-20 minutes driving around town to restart the mission.

I'm with bill on not being a big GTA fan.
My main complaint though is also I don't like games where I have to travel all the way to one area to do a stupid little thing and then travel all the way over somewhere else to do something basically irrelevant, and then go someplace else to pick up or do something else that is just a time suck or could have been accomplished on the way to the other thing. In other words, don't make me run around doing stupid shit for reason other than to waste my time and make the game longer.

It's GTA, open world and such. You can do whatever you want. Play the story, kill things. With GTA V they sorta do this to get you to explore that huge ass map they made for you. My only complaints with GTA V is that there are so few Heist missions which are the best and that most indoor environments are locked out during the game, even the ones used in the heist missions. GTA is not for everyone but GTA V is hugely improved over the previous editions. I am guessing you guys are just not big fans of open world games because like this and RDR, Fallout/Skyrim, etc. RDR is even worse because you can only use a horse/cart to get around and Skyrim, Fallout 3 and NV require actually walking to new locations (the horror).

Ha! I don't like Oblivion either. LOL!
I much prefer a linear game over an open world game. Linear games have more focus. I'm not the type of guy who can create my own fun in a sandbox. Assassin's Creed is the most open world game I can play.

I won't lie, part of it is because I don't have the time to go exploring anymore, what with kids, work, etc. Games with collectibles which are fucking pointless are annoying to me also.

Actually, it was a prankster (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/prankster-responsible-for-watch-dogs-trademark-abandonment-update/1100-6417495/):
It appears the request for "express abandonment" of the Watch Dogs trademark came from a prankster and not Ubisoft, according to a new document filed today with the USPTO. This person even forged Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot's signature, according to the document.
"On February 1, 2014, Ubisoft Entertainment received an email from TEAS@uspto.gov notifying Ubisoft Entertainment that a Request for Express Abandonment had been filed in connection with Application Serial No. 85642398. The Request for Express Abandonment purports to be signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Entertainment, Yves Guillemot. Mr. Guillemot, however, did not sign the Request for Express Abandonment, nor did Ubisoft Entertainment file the Request for Express Abandonment," Ubisoft said. "The Request for Express Abandonment is fraudulent and was not filed by Ubisoft Entertainment or its representative."
The title of this story has been updated to reflect the new information.
[UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, Ubisoft issued a statement on the matter to GameSpot.
“We are working directly with the USPTO on reinstating the trademark for Watch Dogs and it will be active again in the coming days," Ubisoft said. "The matter has no impact on the Watch Dogs' development."

Watch Dogs Wii U delayed, other versions due between April and June (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/02/10/watch-dogs-wii-u-delayed-other-versions-due-between-april-and-j/)
Watch Dogs is due out between April and June, during Ubisoft's Q1 2014 - 2015, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The Wii U version has been delayed, Ubisoft confirmed to Game Informer.
"We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team's resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft," CEO Yves Guillemot said during Ubisoft's financial call.
At least we have a release date timeframe, but Wii U owners may not want to hold their breath waiting for it.

I'm not a big open world guy (mostly b/c the storylines in them are usually awful) but this one has me very intrigued.
The multiplayer aspect of Watch Dogs can be turned off to keep others from distracting you in the single player storyline.
A stealthy technological tug-of-war sounds nice and all but how are you supposed to get anything done in Watch Dogs when your friends are constantly dropping by to jack your bank account? Don't worry: The multiplayer action can be turned off any time.
"All the online activities are just part of the menu," said Danny Belanger, Watch Dogs' game designer, during a Friday event on Twitch, as reported by Polygon. "They're a choice. But if someone is not into that... they can totally turn it off."
Ubisoft takes a distinctly Dark Souls-style approach to multiplayer in Watch Dogs. While you're playing as Aiden Pearce, doling out vigilante justice on the streets of Chicago, another player can sneak into the game. It's your job to hunt the intruder down in the anonymous masses and hack their phone before they do they same to you.
Watch Dogs is already layered with distractions. During a recent preview event, Joystiq found that the sheer number of side missions and mini-games in the anticipated PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title obscured the drama in the main storyline. Maintaing that "vigilante obsessed with atonement" atmosphere is hard when you're always pausing to collect golden coins. If real people were constantly dropping into your game it would be even harder, so it's smart of Ubisoft to make these multiplayer components optional for players of varying tastes.

- ARE (ARG?) site for Chicago ctOS has launched. (http://chicago-ctos.com/)
- A new Ubisoft blog talks about playing the open world of Watch Dogs (http://blog.ubi.com/watch-dogs-open-world-preview/).
This game is approaching must buy territory for me. I was unsure of it, not sure how much I would like the hacking aspect but I love hearing about how many different choices you have to tackle a scenario. That was a big plus for me in The Last of Us. Even though that was a linear game I really felt there was more than one way to tackle things unlike the Uncharted series which was find cover and shoot with little else mixed in (don't get me wrong, LOVE Uncharted). The game seems smart - smarter than AC4 which I spent a ton of time with (53 hours).
Here are the PS3 & PS4 exclusives, which includes 60 minutes of additional gameplay and other bonus content:

Exactly what I've been saying for years. If I do end up getting a PS4 with my tax return money, I was going to buy Watch Dogs for the Xbox One, but due to all the extra stuff the PS3/4 versions will be getting, if I get the PS4 in May, I'll be getting Watch Dogs on PS4 then just to get the extra stuff. Which isn't a bad thing. If I'm going to spend $400 on a PS4, I'd like to have more than just MLB: The Show to play on it until more key games come out later in the year.

Honestly, they shouldn't even be allowed to do stuff like exclusive missions for one system and not the other. I understand an exclusive skin or something, but this "extra game play not available on other systems" is garbage.
It doesn't matter in this particular case to me, as if rumors are true about the resolution difference, I'll be going with the PS4 version, but even then I find it to be shady at best. If you want to have it exclusive for a period of time like Call of Duty maps, go for it. Excluding it period is just ridiculous.

Exactly. It's one thing for timed exclusivity, it's one thing for something minor like a skin or other random crap they use for preorder bonuses. But an entire hour of extra gameplay and other bonus content for one system and you want to still charge the exact same amount for the game on a second system. Go fuck yourself Ubisoft.
All the more reason for me to get a PS4 with my tax return money now, between wanting to play MLB: The Show and wanting to get this for PS4 for the extra missions and content.

I agree with you that companies should be "allowed" to contract as they wish.
However, I think its pretty silly way and I can't think Sony or MS actually benefits much if at all from this stuff. I own a PS4 no "exclusive mission" for XB1 is going to make me fork over $400 to buy an XB1. I cannot imagine any XB1 owner is going to go out and buy PS4 just so they can play this exclusive Watch Dogs mission either.

- The standard for Ubisoft and other major gaming titles, Watch Dogs will have its own Season Pass, allowing customers to save money by pre-paying for DLC. Thanks to an early posting at Gamestop (http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/04/09/watch-dogs-season-pass-includes-new-character-and-missions), new characters, missions, and weapons will be available for $19.99. This represents a savings of 30% over purchasing DLC individually.

- A developer for Watch Dogs talks about how 'some games are dumbed down to make money (http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Watch-Dogs-Dev-Admits-Games-Dumbed-Down-Make-More-Money-63299.html).' - “I feel like games are dumbed down because we want to make money, and sometimes we underestimate what players can do. ... I hope Watch Dogs can show everyone that it’s possible to do online games without being intimidated by a lobby, that it’s possible to see another player without being scared it’s going to be a 12-year-old shouting a bunch of insults, and that it’s possible to make a game where you can test the systems and push at the edges without feeling like you’re working. I hope it can do all that, and if it could be a game that helps players have a bigger conversation about our relationship with technology, that would be awesome too.”

I was really hyped for this game but for some reason lately I've lost interest. It just feels like another version of GTA to me now and the story will be shallow.
Here are the contents of the Watch Dogs Season Pass (http://www.destructoid.com/this-is-what-s-included-in-watch-dogs-season-pass-273966.phtml):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OHubvrraaI
Word had gotten out that the $19.99 Season Pass for Watch Dogs (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One) would feature another single-player campaign starring a new playable character. It's true. His name is T-Bone and this trailer tells you most everything you need to know about the "brilliant but eccentric hacker," and overviews what else is included.
Frankly, that content doesn't look terribly compelling on the whole. We'll see. I do like the sound of the Digital Trip in which Aiden goes after cyborgs. Like the mecha spider mission before it, this may be one of the most interesting parts of Watch Dogs. Otherwise, the DLC is more standard missions, weapons, outfits, etc. with a 25 percent savings compared to buying packs individually.
Pass holders will also get one-week early access to add-on content, if that matters to you.

I was really hyped for this game but for some reason lately I've lost interest. It just feels like another version of GTA to me now and the story will be shallow.
I'm still looking forward to this game. I sort of feel the same on interest, I think maybe because with the release date being pushed back to where it is now, it's just been that much longer that we've had to wait on it to be released, had to go through the information release cycles, it's sort of have killed off the anticipation of the release. It'd be like EA moving the NCAA release back from July to October for one year, for whatever reason. I think by the time October would roll around, I just don't think there would be that typical anticipation that we all had or saw others have when you were getting into those final weeks of June and first week of July.
The NCAA release date couldn't get here fast enough, but if the release date got bumped back a couple months for whatever reason, I think that would sort of kill the anticipation. By that time, real college football and the NFL would be in full action. Madden, NHL and FIFA would have already been released, so the anticipation for NCAA by that time would have been essentially killed. It just wouldn't be the same agonizing wait like it was with an early July release.
Plus, hell, if you go back and look at the beginning of this thread, Watch Dogs was first unveiled and this thread was first created on June 4th, 2012, during the 2012 E3. This game is going to release just one week shy of the two year mark since it was first unveiled to the world at E3. That's two years of waiting for and anticipating the release of this game, of having information and various bits and pieces of this game released. Eventually the overall build up of the prolonged wait would dampen the anticipation and interest of any person.
That said, I'm confident Watch Dogs will still be a fun game and I'll fully enjoy it and get my money's worth from it, but I agree that the anticipation and the full blown interest in it has gone downhill lately due to the pushed back released and extended wait and extended information cycle. Depending on when my tax refund hits my bank account, hopefully either tomorrow or Tuesday, when I go out to Gamestop to pick up my PS4 and MLB The Show, I'm also going to put down a preorder on Watch Dogs for the PS4 (depending on what preorder bonus Gamestop has vs. that of Amazon). I originally intended to get this game for Xbox One, but with the 60 extra minutes of gameplay and other bonus content that is PS3/4 exclusive, may as well go with the PS4 version to get that extra content for the same price (and have a second game to actually play on my PS4 alongside MLB The Show).

For those who have pre-ordered Watch Dogs, or will be pre-ordering here in the next week, are you guys going with Amazon or Gamestop? I'm trying to decide which pre-order bonus would be the better one.
If I pre-order through Amazon, I'll get the Signature Shot Pack, which contains exclusive single player mission, which upon completion of, you'll unlock access to the Black Viceroys Outfit and the Biometric Assault Rifle.
If I pre-order through Gamestop, I'll get the Palace Pack, which contains an exclusive single-player mission, which upon completion of, you'll unlock access to "Investigation Bonus" (Unlock exclusive investigation opportunities inside the network) and the "ATM Hack Boost" (Boost your cash rewards when hacking bank accounts).
Not sure which one would come more in handy in the game. The outfit I couldn't care less about, but depending on what happens in the story and how the gameplay is, the Biometric Assault Rifle may very well come in handy. Otherwise, that ATM Hack Boost sounds intriguing, being able to get more cash than I otherwise would when hacking bank accounts.
Depending on when my tax refund hits my bank account and I head out to Gamestop to pick up my PS4 and MLB The Show, by, probably, either tomorrow or Tuesday I'll have to figure out which route I'm going to go for pre-ordering. If I pre-order through Gamestop, I'll probably just say hell with it and pay the whole game off right then and there while I'm picking up my PS4, that way I won't have to worry about it when May 27th comes around, just walk in, pick it up and walk out.

Yeah, that's the only problem, no Best Buy here in town. So every time I hear about any deals they have going on in-store, I can't do a damned thing about it. Missed out of some good sales in the past.

I'm really looking into that once I get my PS4. I already am probably 70% digital on my Xbox One, having only bought 5 or so games as a physical disc, opting to buy everything else on the Xbox Marketplace.
I remember reading something about Sony looking at making it possible to pre-download and pre-install games, so then you just simply have to wait until whenever the time comes that it unlocks via a command or something on Sony's servers, allowing you to instantly start playing it that morning of the release, instead of having to wait for a store to open or wait for UPS to drop it off. That would be something I would absolutely take advantage of. I already do it every chance I get when buying PC games on Steam. If Sony and Microsoft went that route with the PS4 and Xbox One, I doubt I'd ever buy a physical copy of a game ever again.

Yeah, that's my thought on it. Just looking at the two descriptions side by side, while that Biometric Assault Rifle could come in handy, depending on how powerful and useful it is in the game, that's basically it for that bonus as I couldn't care less about the outfit. But Gamestop's bonus, with whatever the investigation opportunities will be, and then the increased money from hacking bank accounts, if it's a somewhat significant increase in the amount of money you receive, that could be a game changer right there, especially in the early parts of the game.
Right now, I'm probably leaning towards pre-ordering it at Gamestop while I'm there getting my PS4. I'm already going to be spending the money on the system, a year subscription to PS Plus and MLB: The Show, may as well just go all in and pre-order Watch Dogs and pay it off in full right then and there while I'm standing there. Either that, or I'd go the same route as G and probably just get it digitally from PSN since I'm probably going to go mostly, if not all, digital as I go into the future with the PS4.

The most recent update to the PS4 allows for pre-loading a title before it releases and Watch Dogs will be the first one. Granted, they may fuck it up somehow but right now it seems like a good idea.

I rarely trade in any of my games anymore so price different doesn't matter to me. The benefit of being able to swap games without having to replace the disk, plus less wear & tear are big benefits for me. Added, from time to time, I've found digital copies of games for PS3/PS4 on Amazon for cheaper prices (obviously not right at launch).

Fair point. I did buy the digital version of Trials Fusion because I knew how much time I would spend with it. Saving me the hassle of having to get up and insert the disc each time. Damn, that really does sound lazy when you type that out. :D

That is me exactly! I have traded in, maybe, 5-10 games total during the entire time I've had my 360. I just don't really ever trade games in. I get random itches for a game from time to time. So for me, the price and trade in value doesn't matter. And most games, I buy new on release day, when the digital and physical prices are the same, so there is often no difference there.

That's also why I'm on boars with digital. I like being able to instantly switch from one game to another instead of having to get up and switch discs. That, and I'm just plain running out of shelf space for my 360 games, my Xbox One games, NY DVDs, my blu-rays, and now in the next couple days my PS4 games. Storage space is at a premium right now. Going all digital just makes it simpler.

:D I at least had an excuse for my spelling failure. Typing on a phone while suffering from engorged digit syndrome, also known as fat fingers. For all that that I typed out on my phone, only to have a minor typo like that despite regularly fucking up random words due to hitting the wrong letter, that's actually pretty damn good. :D

Definitely Xbox One on launch day for me. Those PS4 triggers and analog sticks just kill any shooting game for me.
I'm pretty shocked they weren't able to hit 1080p OR 60 FPS on either console, though. Wow.

Yeah, I'll have to see what those triggers are like. I should be able to finally buy a PS4 tomorrow, assuming the cunts at the IRS finally release my money for direct deposit after approving the refund 5 days ago. I was planning on just pre-ordering Watch Dogs and paying it off in full tomorrow, but maybe I'll put down a pre-order, with just the initial $5 required, on a PS4 copy at first, then depending on what I think of the DS4 over these next couple days, I might consider switching it to over to the Xbox One. Either that, or consider getting it on both consoles.

I definitely wasn't on the DS3. I actually just bought a new set of triggers as the ones I had wore out. The newer Pelican ones they sell are actually better. Fit snug, have better grip.

https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5281
Pre-load pre-ordered content
Beginning with Destiny, certain pre-ordered titles can be automatically be pre-loaded prior to their release. This lets you rest easy knowing that your game will be ready for play the second its release date hits.
Please note:
Only titles designated as having pre-load functionality at the time of pre-order purchase can be pre-loaded.
Pre-loading does not grant early access to the game; it simply loads it several days prior to its release so you're able to play it on its release date.
Automatic downloads must be enabled for your PS4 to pre-load your game. Follow the instructions in the section above for instructions on how to make sure this feature is enabled.

Two Day Shipping will get it there on release day. I haven't seen "release day delivery" in forever. It should default to 2 day shipping if you're a prime member, which is free and will get it there on time assuming you order before Saturday.

Nope I don't think I've ever cancelled an order from Amazon. I contacted (via chat) a rep and she said that they were no longer offering release day shipping for all video games now for free for Prime members (i.e. sometimes you have to pay the $4 and 1 day shipping). It wont. As I said earlier, every Prime member gets free 2 day shipping. As long as a game is pre-ordered before Saturday evening, two day shipping gets the game there on release day. I've never not gotten a game on release day and I've always used the 2 day shipping.

It should give a guaranteed date at the last page on the checkout screen depending on which option you select. I've had a few cases where I ordered on a Friday with 2 day shipping, received a guaranteed date for the following Thursday (2 days after the launch of the game) and I still received it on Tuesday. I guess it's YMMV depending on your area, but 2 day shipping always works for me as long as I order before Saturday around 4 p.m. EST.

That's correct she couldn't guarantee me that I would get it on release day and that it might not arrive until Thursday if I only used my Prime 2 day shipping as an option. I'm just not willing to "risk it" and I'm also not willing to pay for the shipping (especially when I pay for Prime membership). I checked a few other games as well and all of them had the 2 day release day option so it might just be that the supply of Watch Dogs is somewhat limited or I waited too long.

I totally agree. Plus digital sucks up disc space. The companies make more money too with no shipping or middle man. $20 discount would make sense to me. I trade all my stuff and often find sales on physical copies. Digital sales are ripping people off at full price IMO.

If it's a game that I know I'll play for a long time, I'll often go digital. Just the convenience of it all. I rarely trade in games, usually only sports games. Anything else, hell, I can go months without playing a game, then wake up one day and have a big ass itch to pop that game in. That still happens a lot with the old Final Fantasy games. Wake up one day, really want to play one of the old games, so I hook up my PS2 and fire it up.
Now, there are some times where I will trade in a non-sports game, if I'm not impressed with it or if it just plain has a short shelf life. Take, for example, inFAMOUS: Second Son. It's a fun game, I really enjoyed it. However, the story is so short, and there is so little extra stuff to do in the game, that by the time I get done with my second playthrough to complete the Evil Karma trophies, it's something that I probably wouldn't play again, since there's basically nothing to do once you complete the story and the few extra side stuff. So I'll probably trade Second Son in at some point in the next month or two, while I can still get somewhat decent money for it, and use it towards NHL or FIFA.

How does that work? I assume you would have to share your account and credit card information with someone and never play the game at the same time.
If true, this is disappointing, IMO. I am assuming the only workaround is to disable Online Invasions as soon as you play the game for the first time? That seems like the best option if a user decides/knows they will never play multiplayer.
Watch Dogs to Wipe Unlocked Skills If Players Go Offline (http://www.gameskinny.com/3wgla/watch-dogs-to-wipe-unlocked-skills-if-players-go-offline)
Ubisoft's Watch Dogs is about a world set in the near future where people are always connected to networks and databases by the technology they own. Currently, most first-world countries are close to reaching that point of complete technological saturation but none are quite there yet. Ubisoft doesn't seem to understand that, however.
Similar to the mistakes that Microsoft almost made by including components of the Xbox One that require a constant internet connection, Ubisoft is punishing players just because they lack an internet connection. In Watch Dogs, if players decide to play offline or even lose their internet connection temporarily, they face the risk of a multiplayer stat wipe.
A leaked screenshot shows a warning that pops up when players attempt to disable Online Invasions. The prompt threatens to reset the player's Notoriety to 0 and to erase any Notoriety skills that the player has unlocked.
In Watch Dogs' multiplayer Notoriety is like experience and having more of it makes your character stronger. Increasing your Notoriety also unlocks skills that can be used.
http://images.gameskinny.com/gameskinny/resized_9df1f4c248665230811c595ddbf56c8f.png
Online invasions, similar to those in Dark Souls, allow other players to infiltrate and hack your game for an added challenge. Not all players would enjoy this feature though and the ability to turn it off should be available to everyone. By punishing players for not accepting Online invasions, Ubisoft is hurting its consumers.
People that buy Watch Dogs and either lose their internet connection or dislike the idea of other players messing with their single-player experience are apparently out of luck unless Ubisoft decides to change this before release.

I'm pretty sure that has been debunked now. I think during the online beta they had that enabled but only for testing to encourage online play.
There was a website/guy going around throwing out false info purposefully including a negative review on an never-heard-of-site. I think this was part of that.

I wondered about that. The article quoted is from four days ago, but I do not know how or where it came from - just that the speculation exists.
One commenter had a solid take on it, if true:
I'm the first person to rage against forced multiplayer, but I have to admit I'm seeing a lot of unnecessary drama about this policy. From what I can gather, notoriety is really only about multiplayer skills and rankings. So if they didn't implement this policy, a lot of folks would likely cheat the system by hacking others' games, then disabling invasions afterward so they couldn't be hacked back. This system forces everyone to play by the same rules. This isn't forced multiplayer, it's fair multiplayer.

No.
You can only do it with one other person. They have your account info, you have theirs. Their PS4 has to be set up as your account's home PS4. Your PS4 has to be setup as their account's home PS4. Buy PSN cards and split the cost of the game, no credit card info needed. You can take turns buying games or you can just buy a $30 code each and apply them to your account to buy the game.
You can even both be online at the same time playing the same game. The only drawback is that you would need to be logged into your account on your PS4 and connected to the internet to access digital games you've purchased since your PS4 isn't your home console.

Still interested but after watching twitch yesterday, some of the polish is off this game. All of the puzzles look tedious and many last far too long. Plus the graphics seem nowhere near what they were expected to be since when we first heard (and saw) the game. Like i say, I'm still interested but I was hoping for a little more.
Yeah I didn't pre-order. The fact few reviews are out scares me too. To me it looks basically like a GTA game. Which is fine but I was more interested in the potential of this story and from what I have seen it appears to be story light for my liking. I'm going to wait for some reviews to pour in before I bite the bullet on this one.

The review embargo is still up, so they're not allowed to release reviews. It'll probably end tonight around midnight or tomorrow morning.
Best Buy has it for $48 + a $10 coupon for Gamer's Club Unlocked members, so it's a pretty safe bet if you have that.

No need to wait. 1000's playing on twitch give a nice overall impression. I would have loved twitch back a few years back for madden & ncaa fb.

I will end up getting it next week but not really that excited. There are so few games out, almost feels like I am purchasing it just to have something new. Trading in Wolfenstein (great game, until you hit chapter 13) so I wont have to pay full price for it.

I completely agree with your sentiment. While I fully admit to having a "love-fest" with the ps4, I am disappointed with the overall lack of titles at this point. What's worse is that there is not a lot of variety amongst the titles. I love open worlds, sims, rpg's, etc. I just wish there was less "shoot em up" first person shooters...
The Watch Dogs ctOS mobile app will be available tomorrow. (http://blog.ubi.com/watch-dogs-ctos-mobile-companion-app-faq/)
ctOS Mobile has two primary ways to play with your friends on console and PC: Race and Free Ride. Both modes are adversarial, pitting the console/PC player against the mobile player. On the console/PC, the player must race from checkpoint to checkpoint. Every time a checkpoint is passed, more time is added back to the clock. The goal is to reach the final checkpoint before time runs out.
On the mobile app, the player is doing everything in his power to thwart his adversary. How so? By hacking into the city via a top-down map, triggering blockers, setting off explosions and causing all kinds of mayhem. Using ctOS Mobile, the player can also attack from above via a helicopter (complete with a sniper); and he can send the local police into hot pursuit.
The differences between Race and Free Ride? With Races, the distances between checkpoints are shorter and the GPS is on for the console/PC player. With Free Ride, the distances are wider and the GPS is off by default. “It’s a bit harder and it’s more tactical,” Baude says about Free Ride. In both modes, the mobile player wins if he can stop his foe from reaching all the checkpoints.

Sony needs to get their shit straightened out with this digital downloads. Watch Dogs was supposed to be available at midnight ET. Hopefully it doesn't turn into the MLB download issues.

Well, thankfully it was just a short glitch. I had to do a work-around to download it by going to the SEN site (https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/home/main) then "purchase" it as a free game and then queue the download from the website to my PS4. It's downloading now... looks like I may get a little bit of time in on the game before calling it a night.

Still only in the very early stages. Still finishing up the first mission as I have yet to reach my hideout. Stopped along the way and took over a ctOS camera and have been hacking people left and right, stealing bank account info and unlocking access to cars. I am sort of disappointed in that you can't hack anyone and everyone you so wish to. You can only hack those that game gives you a prompt to. Granted, there are still a pretty decent amount of people to hack, usually one in every five or ten people walking by on a random street corner are able to be hacked.
Unfortunately, my time is limited as I have to be up in 5 1/2 hours, so I can't go all night in Chicago. But hopefully I can jump back on tomorrow evening after I get home.

The ctOS Companion app is live. I downloaded it and signed in a few minutes ago. It looks like your friends list in the app goes through Uplay instead of PSN or XBL.
Edit - Alright, Uplay is the default add contacts option, but you can select to add friends from PSN and XBL. I have CDJ, JB and G already added to my contacts list in the app, and will add some others later depending on who ends up getting this game.
I was looking into possibly buying the Season Pass, but am not seeing it in the PS Store. Is it only available to purchase through the game?

Checked BB online and they have it for $60. Is it in store only. Reviews mostly in the 80s so its prob a solid game I'm going to pick it up but the question is where after I leave work today.

Lots of haters on the user reviews:

The negative reviews are posting the same thing over and over. Make me wonder if it is the same two or three people trying to act cool.

You have to be a Gamer's Club Unlocked member. If you're a member, when you add it to your cart, it'll be $48. Gamer's Club Unlocked members get 20% off all new games.

Ah how much is it to be an "Unlocked" member?
Starting to regret cancelling this game when I had it pre-ordered for only $40. Many good reviews. But I'm busy 5-6 nights a week thru late June until my kids soccer and baseball seasons don't overlap. July will be the Summer of Rudy!

Got my copy for my PS4, & so far I'm loving the game. It has that GTA open world feeling to it, but so far the story is pretty good. I haven't gotten too far into the game, just finishing up Act I. My PSN is MrHitStick757 if anybody wants to add me, I need more friends up there lol.

Normally $120 per year, but I'm pretty sure it's on sale for $60 for a year this week. I got mine for $30 several months ago and it's paid for itself many times over.
EDIT: Those numbers aren't "per year," but rather "per two years." So you could get it for $60 for 2 years this week. It's a no brain decision if you buy a bunch of games on launch day, IMO. It stacks with sales and collector's editions, too.

That's a good question. I've gotten into a number of shootouts and car chases with the cops because of cunts in the public phoning 911 on me just because a guy feels like running around in public with a gun. :glare: But I have yet to die, so I can't say.
Left some small gifts for friends at May Stadium & Phoebus Theater, so check in and LMK who scoops them up first.
