That's a good question. I've gotten into a number of shootouts and car chases with the cops because of cunts in the public phoning 911 on me just because a guy feels like running around in public with a gun. :glare: But I have yet to die, so I can't say.
I have the jammer now but haven't had to use it yet. From what I gather, you don't lose anything from dying by suicide (I've triggered explosions by me and I was too close :D) and by cops when doing stuff on the side. You can easily get sucked into the side mission stuff really easy it's so fun.

How much money do you guys have? I went on a bank account hacking spree while escaping to my hideout after the opening mission at the baseball stadium. Ended up with something like 50-70,000 in my bank account.

Yeah, I've only done the first two or three missions of the game. I spent the rest of my time last night hacking bank accounts of people in the street, playing poker and winning thanks to a well place camera, and blowing random shit up on the street.

I think all the negative spamming on Metacritic was the start of douches trying to start a GTA v. WD fanboy war for the sake of being douches. The game is a blast, driving is slightly better than GTA, graphics are great. The three key items almost every negative post repeated. Figured it was fishy.

More like the douches who make a big deal out of resolutions and framerate. They are butthurt that the game did not look as good as when it was first shown years ago and was not 1080p/60fps. As if that is something new in the industry. Throw in a bunch of neogaf-esque super double butthurt PS4 owners, because up until a few weeks ago Sony was advertising it would be 1080p/60fps (http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/13/watch-dogs-is-not-1080p-or-60-frames-per-second-on-xbox-one-or-ps4). We Xbox One owners know better. Ubisoft could not even achieve that with Trails Fusion.

I didn't even get to the second mission. Once I started seeing what I could do on the streets, I didn't feel like driving/running that far on the map to the main checkpoint.
SP - I think I earned 15-20k or so just doing hacks on the street for a couple hours.

I've finally managed to stop doing the side mission stuff long enough to continue the story. I've gotten to the point now where Online Contracts have been opened up and I can hack other players and be hacked.
In fact, I just did my first 1v1 Online Hacking. Got 462 Notoreity Points for a quick hacking of someone. Started the hacking and then hid in a little fenced off yard in an alley behind a house. The guy I was hacking came running up and down the alley twice, but never thought to look on the other side and wood plank fence that I was hiding behind.
And damn, they've really got this all wired together. Just got a pop up notice that some citizens in the game are "Blume Agents" who will try to report you to ctOS if you hack their phones and then don't rip their phones out of their hands (similar to eye witnesses during crimes). If they complete their call, you'll get a bounty placed on your head that other people can enter your game and try to claim off of you.

I got far enough to unlock that as well, but haven't dicked around with it yet. I think I have about $25k in the bank, but I've bought a couple cars and guns. Didn't realize you can unlock the guns by killing people who use them, but still I figured I had the cash, why not :D
Buying cars is worthless unless you want to unlock it sooner. Stealing them unlocks them.
I've finally unlocked the jam comm, but haven't had a chance to use it yet. Usually it'll work best when I'm stopping a crime and I can't catch the guy on foot so I just shoot him in the legs :D but then some rat citizen calls the cops.

Yeah, I've bought probably $100,000 worth of weapons, and currently have $156,019 cash on hand. Money actually turns out to be pretty easy to get. It's the electronic parts to craft stuff that are the bitch to find.

So, I think all the concerns about people being able to drop in and out of your game and sit there fucking with you while you try to play were unfounded. First, I can't find anyway to specifically drop into a certain person's game. I can make requests for various Online Contracts, but it's basically random matchmaking, so the odds of one of us getting a fellow TGTer are slim. The only other time I've found is when you have random fixer hunts pop up when you try to initiate certain missions, you have to hunt down a fixer before you can do the mission. That's all I've found so far.
As for the ctOS mobile app, you can't do anything on there outside of challenging people to a match of racing (console person races, mobile person controls the Chicago PD and various objects in the game (steam pipes, bollards, traffic lights, etc). I'm right now watching G travel around the city in his game on a map in the ctOS app on my phone, but I can't do anything other than challenge him. I can't even change a traffic light if I wanted to dick with him.
So for the most part, it's all voluntary stuff. You have to accept before you're thrown into someone's game or they're thrown into yours. Sort of takes away the fun of the thought of never knowing if that person you just passed was a random NPC or another player in hiding.

It's just like the old pipeline puzzles where you're funneling water, except you're funneling electricity. They're actually pretty cool. Some of them trigger a timer where you gotta get it done faster.

So something I discovered last night that I can't say I like. I'm still enjoying the hell out of the online components, as I have entered the games of a couple different people and have run up to a record of something like 4-0 or 5-0 when doing Online Hacking in the games of others. I even still managed to win one after essentially giving myself away almost immediately by accidentally blowing up a steam pipe in the middle of the road next to the other player.
However, I discovered last night, that pausing the game is only temporary when it comes to Online Hacking. I was in my own game, sitting there in single-player, and I had paused the game as I was in the middle of doing something on my laptop. All of a sudden, while my game has been sitting there paused for 5 minutes, the game unpauses itself and I get the alert that another player is hacking me.
Now that I don't like. If I pause my game, it shouldn't enable another player to hack my game and cause my game to automatically unpause on its own. Now I essentially have to quit out to the main menu every single time I need to step away from the TV. Even simply walking through the house to take a piss could be long enough for another player to get me as an opponent in online hacking matchmaking, enter my game and unpause it and sit there hacking me while I'm not even near my TV or controller.

It really is fun! I also dabbled in Online Tailing yesterday. Being able to sit there following a guy with them having no clue whatsoever that you're there, it's awesome. A couple times I was tempted to blow a steam pipe or raise some bollards on the fucker I was following, but unfortunately that would have been a dead giveaway that I was there in his game.

I had online invasions turned on and had a Fixer jump in my game once i tried to start a mission.

I think one or two missions during Act 1, it basically forces an invasion on you, to introduce you to how invasions work. I twice had an invasion start literally right as I went to start two missions. Those were the only times it's happened right as I tried to start a mission too. Others have said they had the same thing happen to them.
It's like the 4th and 5th mission or something. Aiden even has lines for when it happens, which he's never said anything or had any lines when it's a truly random invasion by a random player. So I think invasions are written into the story for it to happen right as you try to start those two missions, especially since online hacking opens up to you right after those two missions. After that, the only time you'll be interrupted from starting a mission due to a fixer is just from bad luck of someone invading your game and starting the hack right before you could start a mission.

Yep. That's the one. The driver mission and the one following it, Open Your World, those are the only missions where you'll get prompted with an invasion right as you go to start it. So far, one or two missions into Act 2, that hasn't happened again since those two missions.

Just played a couple missions and so far I am pretty unimpressed. I avoided the reviews and most of the discussion here, so it would be fresh. Who the heck though it would be a good idea to not allow you to shoot from a car? I realize I am on the lowly Xbox One but the graphics really did take a hit. Would have enjoyed the occasional drive using the in-car camera but the interior is a blurry mess on every car I have tried.
Hopefully it grows on me.
I did find this article by the ultra-feminist and finder of all things evil toward women and minorities in video games, more amusing than the time I sat down to play Watch Dogs.
Yup, "whities" out there hunting down "digital minorities." (http://kotaku.com/some-players-are-hunting-down-minorities-in-watch-dogs-1584813361)
The game has grown on me, so hopefully it will for you as well.
And yes, not being able to shoot from the car is frustrating, especially when the CPU can do it.
Side note: I find it tough to read a lot of Deadspin, Kotaku, etc. because they too often seem to be professionally offended and want to indulge in some greater 'cause.' I wish they would just cover games and the people who make them instead of trying to vilify those who make and play them.

It is ultra frustrating to not be able to shoot from a car.
I had a conversation with a guy in a party chat about how to shoot while in a car. We were in a police chase and he was driving. He kept saying shoot out their tires like they did in the opening scene haha.
Told him it wasn't possible to shoot when in car, but he insisted it was just like GTA lol.
Oh and yeah CDJ I noticed that as well. Didn't Kotaku do an article on Bioshock Infinite and it's religious conotations or something?
SmoothPancakes
06-03-2014, 10:33 AM
Yep, that is one uber fuck up by Ubisoft, not allowing you to shoot from a car. So many times I've needed to do so, and couldn't. The worst is when you have someone hacking you, you profile them and they take off running in a car. Sure I can take them out by controlling lights, bollards, steam pipes, etc., but I can also take them out by unloading on their tires and their head through the windows and windshield during the car chase.

Best review of the game so far. (http://games.on.net/2014/06/ubisoft-game-the-review/)
The site is slow as heck right now so I am just going to post it.
After nine months of non-stop marketing, Ubisoft Game is finally here. But does it live up to expectations? Find out in our review.
By now we’ve all heard of Ubisoft Game, and if you haven’t, then you’ve been living under a rock. Ubisoft Game is the latest in a long line of titles from Ubisoft, and with a bigger budget than ever before and no less than 75 of Ubisoft’s 193 global studios working on it, there’s no doubt that this year’s Ubisoft Game is going to be the big one.
You can play Ubisoft Game on basically any platform of your choice, but we’ve been reviewing it on a next-gen console, because that’s the platform it was made for.
Ubisoft Game is the story of Main Character, a gruff or sassy white man who is really good at parkour, killing, and killing while doing parkour. One of the most iconic features of Main Character is the way he dresses — Main Character’s sense of style and flair really comes across in his tailored outfit, which makes him look distinctive and features a number of clear symbols that can be easily used in marketing and merchandising.
The game takes place in a big open world, with lots of people and maybe even animals living in it. That sounds like it should be a paradise, but it’s not — a Bad Thing has happened and Main Character is right in the thick of it. Or maybe he’s the only one who can stop it? The story in Ubisoft Game is a bit uncompelling, but that’s okay, because there’s just so much to see and do.
A key mechanic of Ubisoft Game is that control points on the map need to be ‘captured’ to unlock particular areas. Each control point is a challenge and gives you influence over that particular area, and allows you do your parkour or whatever without being attacked by the bad guys. When you’re not capturing control points with your Good Parkour Skills, you don’t have to go and do the main story, although Main Character’s skills don’t unlock until you do which is kind of annoying. There’s lots to see and do. Ubisoft Game is filled with side activities such as This Gambling Game, Beating Up Enemies Until You Are Told To Stop, Looking For Collectibles, and Tailing Somebody Somewhere For Some Reason.
You can also do the thing which works offline with your companion app, which you can download. Once you’ve got the thing, you can use your companion app to do it, on your tablet or smart phone! It’s neat and impressive, but does it add much to the game? We’re not sure.
Ubisoft Game comes in about 4,027 different editions depending on where you buy it and what phase of the moon you’re in at the time, so it’s hard to know if any of the mountains of DLC, Unlockable Extras, Side Missions and Add-Ons for Ubisoft Game change anything significantly about the main story. What we can tell you though is that Ubisoft Game has some neat easter eggs that also make references to other Ubisoft Games, which is nice.
We also took Ubisoft Game for a quick spin on PC, and it’s a mixed bag. Sometimes Ubisoft Game is good on PC and sometimes it isn’t, and this Ubisoft Game follows the same pattern. It’s definitely meant for a controller though, unless you’re doing some shooting. That’s much better with a keyboard and mouse. For those of you wondering — yes, Ubisoft Game uses Uplay. Sorry.
All in all, Ubisoft Game is a game that Ubisoft have made. You’ll play it if you like that sort of thing, and in fact it has already sold 250 million copies.

God people are dumbasses. :D
I'm driving along to my next mission, just sort of fucking around on the way, raising bridges or whatnot. I raise one bridge as I start driving along it, it's gets all the way up, stays up for a few seconds then starts going back down despite me not hacking it. I stop the bridge and raise it back up again, happen to look behind me and see a random car make a big u-turn and go speeding off in a grassy field with dirt spraying everywhere.
Aha! We have an invader in our midst. I didn't even need to wait for the pop up to warn that someone had invaded my game and was hacking me, just seeing a random car going driving off into a grassy field like a bat out of hell was enough to tip me off.
I go chase down the area where he stopped, apparently he got out of his car and was hoping to just casually walk down the sidewalk. Except he bails on that plan early and just as I was about to profile him, he takes off running. It certainly made killing him easier, as I all had to do was throw the car into reverse and mow his ass down as he tried to run around a corner.
Probably the easiest invasion I've ever had to defend against. :D

As for the game, I'm making a pretty good dent in it. I've visited all 100 hot spots, I've completed all 15 gang hideouts, I've detected 20/20 crimes, I've found all 17 QR codes and completed that investigation. I've found all 10 weapons crates and completed that investigation. I've done all 30 privacy invasions, I've hacked all 13 ctOS towers, I've completed all 16 ctOS breaches, I've found 10/10 audio logs.
Still to finish, I've done 6/18 criminal convoys, only 1/40 fixer contracts, 5/8 burner phones, 4/7 missing persons, 20/23 songs.
And I'm currently in the middle of mission 12 of 15 in Act 2.
I'm very much enjoying this game and will be getting more than my money's worth by the time I'm done with it.
Sounds fun. Going to have to pick up this game at a later date.

Hmm. I might have to dip my toe in one later today when I jump on Watch Dogs. Races and Decryption (and free roam) are the only things I haven't done yet in regards to online. I'm guessing free roam has probably already devolved into GTA V-style free roam. You venture out into the open, you're gonna end up in a gun fight with someone else randomly trying to kill you for no other reasons than for their shits and giggles.
That was the big issue last time I jumped into public free roam in GTA V. You leave your apartment and within minutes you were guaranteed to have at least one, if not two, people chasing you and trying to kill you seemingly just because they can. Or as was the case sometimes, I'd join a session and still be in my apartment, and before I even left, there would be one or two people camping around the door or garage to my apartment waiting to get a free sitting duck kill as I tried to walk out the door or drive out of the garage.
Take Watch Dogs and add in everything you can do (bridges, steam pipes, lights, bollards, spikes, etc), it's probably devolved into absolute mayhem on there. And if it hasn't already done so yet, give it a month tops.

I wanted to like it but it never clicked for me. The driving just never felt right to me, the shooting was mediocre, hacking got repetitive. To it's credit there is a ton of stuff to do, it just did not interest me. Which sucks because now I am left with just a few games. Already put 150 hours into Trials Fusion and spent nearly that amount of time in Titanfall just waiting to get into a damn match.

IMHO Watch Dogs is MILES better than GTA V (if you care at all about the story). The Watch Dogs story isn't great but compared to the GTA series its not even close. If you just wanna drive around, slap around some prostitutes and run over people with cars, GTA V.

If the story is the biggest thing to you, stop playing games and stick to Netflix. Story is the least important factor in my enjoyment of a video game. Also the GTV storyline was not as shit as you make it out to be. Not to mention the way they weaved in three protagonists and made switching between them very well done.

Did you even finish the game? Let me rephrase, "Did you even play the game."

I personally think a good story adds a lot. The first Uncharted blew me away. The Last of Us was great too. I prefer a linear story line over sandbox titles where screwing around is more fun than the main missions.

Didn't get around to posting until now, but I finished the campaign on Tuesday. All in all, it was a good campaign. Some parts of the story you may forget if you don't play straight through, I had some holes in my memory of the story until reading a recap online after beating it. Everything made much better sense then with all the holes filled in.
The ending of Act IV did sort of catch me by surprise and stun me a little while watching it. Not sure why as I never really connected with any of the characters and their stories while playing the game, but having the events happen at the end of Act IV, it did sort of catch me a bit.
Act V really annoyed me and pissed me off, with the never ending ctOS scans and police chases. Only when I just said fuck it and ignored the police chasing me and shooting at me, did I finally manage to do anything worth a damn and complete the first part of that final mission.
And with the door left WIDE open for a Watch Dogs sequel with the whole ctOS 2.0 stuff, I wonder what city they'll place the game in next. With Chicago done, LA and NYC have been done to fucking death in dozens of other video game series (GTA comes to mind), I'd really like somewhere truly fresh. If they absolutely had to go a major city located on either coast, I'd vote either D.C., Philly, Boston, San Fran, San Diego or Seattle. Interior, there are endless options. Detroit, OKC, Dallas, Austin, Memphis, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Denver, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Fargo (:P). Or, with the mention of ctOS 2.0 expanding nationwide as well as international, they could also go the route of an overseas city (London, Paris, Sydney, Bangkok, Berlin, Vancouver, etc).

London would be a no-brainer as they have tons of cameras throughout.
I am slowly working my way back into the game. Still hate the driving but the gunplay is not as bad as I once thought. There is some really screwed up little things that UBI did not catch. I hacked one guy who showed he failed to pay child support and then stole $4500 from his account. It made me feel kinda bad for the child.

Haha I'm an ethical hacker too.
If it sounds like they have some bad shit going on in their life I won't take their money :D
On another note I ventured online again and these fuckers kept messing with me. I'd start a police chase, then they would show up and shoot/disable all of the vehicles I tried to get in. This one guy did this no stop for a good 15 minutes. So I proceeded to just run on foot all over city. Finally got in a car and got away from him.
Then these other two assholes were in a car together and kept running me over and knocking me down non stop. So I threw a grenade, caused a black out and got on motorcycle to get away.

Yep, sounds like the same typical fucktards from GTA V multiplayer. Well, I guess I can cross online free roam off my list, nothing but a total waste of time.

It will be in Toledo ;)

Well, if your are going to make a game about hacking and put it on the PC... Clean up all the "special E3" code if you want to say the game was not downgraded. If you have it on PC you might want to check out the mod.

Finally beat the game lastnight so I can resell it. I
Typically don't finish games like this (i.e GTA, etc). Didn't enjoy online (free roam anyway) very after the first few times just like I didn't much in GTA. Should have fooled around with Online Invading more, that looks fun. May play a few before I sell it back.
Enjoyed the story for most part as I thought I would going in. Kinda short once I just focused on missions and not messing around.
I didn't use the Focus at all or even unlock all of the Skills except for the hacking tree.
So I finished the story mode this past weekend.
Did you guys walk away or kill the dude at the end? Me I just walked away.

Did you guys walk away or kill the dude at the end? Me I just walked away. I shot him soon as he started to say something "these guys" or something lol. Figured he didn't know I already took the entire city down and killed everyone since he's been captive... so any of his threats would be useless haha.

Yeah I sat there for awhile and listened to him then just decided to walk away - I felt it was the more likely "real" solution since Pierce was talking about how was he any different than the guys he was killing. I figured by that point he had made a decision to stop killing.
DLC adding three single-player missions, new weapons and bonuses makes its way into Watch Dogs today. Season Pass holders received this round of DLC last week, but everyone can purchase it today for $7.
The three missions are The Palace, Signature Shot and Breakthrough. In The Palace, you must sneak into the mansion of an internet mogul and wipe his hard drive before a planned police raid takes place, and then silence the mogul. Signature Shot has you intercept a biometrics weapon intended for the captain of the Black Viceroys gang. In Breakthrough, you have to get into a meeting between The Chicago South Club and a group of CEOs, but first you must take out the vehicles blocking surveillance devices positioned around the meeting.
The pack also introduces the Biometric Rifle and Auto-6 Pistol, as well as bonuses, outfits and weapons boosts.

Start playing the drinking games before you decide... those are the absolute worst part. I made the mistake of saving those for last... that plus I'm missing 1-2 songs that are only found on NPCs. I'll probably eventually try to finish it but it will be awhile.

Yeah I'm short like 8 or so songs and I have no clue how/where to find them. I heard the drinking games were HARD so I may try that next weekend before deciding.

Hello all,
Great news! A new patch will be released in the next days for Watch_Dogs. The main purpose of this patch is to respond to community feedback by changing or improving certain features, as well as fixing some minor bugs. It was ultimately designed to optimize your player experience and add some replay options to the game. The patch will be available for all systems on August 21st in the Americas, Europe and on August 26th in Asia.
We know it has been a bit since the last patch and this is the reason why. We’ve been hard at work making these changes.
See below the list of changes that will be in the patch.
Single Player Added Features
- REPLAY OPTIONS – After having completed the main story line, players will now have the option to reset previously played Gang Hideouts and Convoy Missions. – (ALL PLATFORMS)
- DRINKING GAMES – The Drinking Games were re-tuned based on community feedback. – (ALL PLATFORMS)
- Increase round fail time by 20%. More time for player to finish.
- Increase button cycling time by 50%. More time between button switch.
- Increase player reticle radius by 25% in collect button mode. Allow easier button press succeeded on bad latency tv.
- Increase player reticle last frame velocity impact on this frame position (inertia friction) by 70%. The player reticle slow down faster when no input from player -> easier to stay on the spot targeted & More precise player control.
- Increase player input factor by 50%. More precise and more reactive player control.
- Reduce max force applied randomly to player reticle from 0.35 to 0.29. Less strong random impulse for drunk effect.
- Reduce moving target speed by 15%. Easier for player to time his button press on a target.
Multiplayer Added Features
- HACK YOUR FRIENDS – You can now select available friends via the grid and hack or tail them without their knowledge. This can be disabled under online options. – (ALL PLATFORMS)
- CTOS MOBILE – Mobile players disconnecting will no longer result in the gameplay ending for the console/PC player. Console and PC players will play their match to the end and receive some Notoriety points for doing so. – (ALL PLATFORMS)
- MULTIPLAYER BAD BEHAVIOR – Players who are frequently disconnecting from multiplayer matches will be pooled together and paired only against players with similar online behaviors. – (ALL PLATFORMS)
If you’re playing against someone else who disconnects unfairly, you will get the same amount of Notoriety as if you had won at that moment.
The disconnector will not receive any Notoriety.
Single Player Fixes
- POKER – Fixed a bug in which players were getting stuck playing poker if they used the camera against the last opponent in a low stakes game. – (ALL PLATFORMS)
- MISSING PERSONS INVESTIGATIONS – Fixed instances in which the wrong text was appearing in Portuguese language. – (ALL PLATFORMS)

The drinking game tuning and the ability to hack your friends are cool... but by now, I don't think anyone else is playing this one. I'm still waiting for the single player DLC. I'll probably play the drinking game sometime down the line to try and get the platinum and may just reset the Hideouts and Convoys just to play around with it again.

Started playing this game last week. It's not as much fun as GTA looks but it's a unique spin on the GTAesque world. I like the protaganist and his interactions with the cell phone. I especially love the profiles of people. My fave I have seen so far is the ballet instructor who is adicted to torture porn. lol. Who comes up with this stuff???
I have been online hacked twice so far. I find it really difficult to stop/find the hackers.

Yeah, it really is a good game in its own right. I had a lot of fun playing it, and it was really fun setting things off while driving. Nothing like speeding down the road changing lights, raising spike strips, blowing pipes, changing billboard, raising bridges, knocking out power, etc. You could really cause some havoc in that world!
Unfortunately after you get done with the storyline, I don't know, it just didn't seem like there was a lot to keep you going back for more like with GTA. There was a distinct feeling of lack if extras to do, especially if you did a lot of the extras while playing through the storyline. And the multiplayer also left a lot to be desired. One thing I always hated was that it was random as to getting thrown into another person's game. You couldn't intentionally choose to hack a friend's game and dick with them. That sort of killed the fun of online as it just wasn't the same hacking a random person.

Took awhile but I finally finished this game last night. Honestly I am a big fan of this game and found the storyline to be better than GTA. I wasn't thrilled with the ending but the story was fun and the hacking a very creative concept. Did anyone play around with the DLC? I am tempted to pick it up just to continue on with this story arc.

I finished it as well - and though it failed to live up to the hype - those ridiculous CPU rendered vids they did put way too high of a burden on on the game - i enjoyed it and actually finished the main campaign which is VERY rare for me on an open world game.
Which is better - this or Creed Unity? Both have good sales here and there.

Honestly I like this more than Unity. Black Flag is the benchmark for the AC series IMO and Unity, while looking stunning falls somewhat short in the story telling. Both are solid games though.
SmoothPancakes

Unity is good, once you start getting into the story. I still have to finish it. I got to the start of sequence 10 back in January and then between the Super Bowl, work, and trying to get time in on other games, Unity fell off the table of playtime.
Watch Dogs, I really enjoyed. Is there that replayability factor, eh, it's low, and there are things that definitely need fixed or changed if they ever do a sequel, but I definitely enjoyed it. I still need to fire it back up to play the DLC and try to go after the platinum on it.

I have not played Unity at all but I just cannot get into the AC story line. Watch Dogs has a pretty decent story line and it is actually relevant to today's world which gave it a little bit of realism which I liked.
