I've played through it once on Normal, once on Survivor, and now I'm halfway through Survivor+. It's definitely one of the best games ever made, but that's not to say it doesn't have it's annoyances. On Normal, there's absolutely no challenge whatsoever. I didn't die a single time and I can't remember an occasion when I was even close. Too many supplies and I basically just had my way with it.
On Survivor, the supplies are severely limited, and I've died a few times, but I have felt completely ripped off virtually every time. The clickers are fine. You can sneak past them and if you're moving too fast, they'll hear you. I haven't felt cheated with them a single time. The runners, however, have a lot of cheap BS centered around them. I've been completely hidden numerous times and a runner that isn't even looking in my direction will somehow sense my presence and come charging even though I'm hidden and not even moving. Every one of my deaths have been like that. Really annoying, but thankfully, I've only died around 10 times on my play through and a half of Survivor.
Some of the level design is right out of Uncharted. *Force you into a choke point and then just throw a ton of enemies at you.* I don't enjoy that particularly, but I'm so used to their games by now that it doesn't even bother me.
Other than that, fantastic game. I wish it was a little harder on Survivor, but eh, the story and game play are top notch, so it gets a pass.

I know that the little girl dies early in the game but I've heard people referencing to her as if she's still there. Is she not really dead or are they just keeping up the lie so as not to spoil things?

Plot point spoiler for anyone that hasn't played the game
The main character's daughter dies in the opening scenes from being shot by a soldier the night of a major outbreak. 20 years later, he has to escort another teenage girl, the main girl of the story. His daughter never shows up again after the opening scenes.
Here's the full opening from the start of the game until the time his daughter dies.

Beat it last night on Survivor+. Thankfully, the trophies for Survivor and Survivor+ both popped, so if you started playing through Survivor with the bonuses and the trophy glitches, just turn off the bonuses and then start your + play through.

How do you unlock Survivor+? Don't you have to beat it on Survivor first?
I OU a Beatn
06-27-2013, 11:32 AM
You have to beat regular Survivor first, which I did, but because I had bonuses enabled, the trophy didn't pop. I disabled the bonuses before I started Survivor+ in hopes that it would cause both of them to pop, and once I beat Survivor+, they both popped.
This is easily at least a 4 play through game, which is what I'm going to have to do. You absolutely have to beat it on any difficulty to unlock Survivor, then you have to beat Survivor, and then you have to beat Survivor+. However, having done that, I can tell you that there is absolutely no chance in hell on Survivor and Survivor+ that you're going to be able to upgrade all your weapons, so I'm going to have to do one more play through on Easy+ to get enough parts to fully upgrade all the weapons.
On my Survivor+ play through, I went ahead and took the time to get all the firefly tags, comic books, shiv doors, optional conversations, Ellie jokes, and everything else, so my Survivor+ play through time was around 17 hours compared to 9 on Normal. There's way too many collectibles and other stuff like that in the game.

What are these bonuses? Were they automatically applied?
I think I'm going to do Easy+ next to get all of the collectibles, upgrades, etc. Then Survivor, then finally Survivor+.

They were automatically enabled for me, I guess because I bought the Season Pass. I'm not sure about bonuses I got for ordering. Anyway, you have to disable them in the menu before starting the game. You can't disable them in the in game start menu, but rather it has to be done on the title screen under options.
Like I said, it doesn't happen to everyone, and thankfully if it does, it seems disabling the bonuses after beating it on regular Survivor and then beating it on Survivor+ seems to unlock both of them, but it's just something to watch out for.
Also, watch out for collectibles counts when you go after them, especially the optional conversations. Sometimes when you have a conversation, it doesn't count. If you catch it, you can just restart the checkpoint, but if you don't catch it, you'd have to make another play through.
Finally, when using pills to upgrade Joel's abilities...if you're playing on Survivor and looking for collectibles, do not upgrade the shiv master ability. It should be the last one you upgrade regardless because it doesn't count towards the fully upgrading Joel trophy (I upgraded everything else and the trophy unlocked, so shiv master isn't needed). More importantly, if you're playing on Survivor, there is just enough materials in the game to make the 13 shivs you'll need to open all the shiv doors. If you waste even one on a clicker or another enemy, you're screwed.
Survivor is really intense. It's how the game should be played, IMO. You literally have to think about every move you make because of how scarce everything is. I literally made 4 health packs the entire Survivor play through. :D

Yeah that's my thought as well. Finish this weekend on Normal. Then Easy+ then either Survivor or Survivor+ (if I can do it in just 3 play throughs)

Since several of us have the game and the online I believe is limited to two teams of 8 we might try to have some "competitive" MP matches. I'm sure I'll suck so whoever has me will be at a distinct disadvantage.

You'll get dominated right off the bat simply because this is one of those "rank up and get better shit" games, so if you're going up against players that have been playing a lot (and you will, because being a Naughty Dog game, the matchmaking sucks and doesn't take into account the rank of the players it's matching), you're at a distinct advantage. Still, it's very fun, regardless of people having an advantage and the campers. It plays very well.

I played about 10 games today and if you guys want to play, it's definitely going to have to be private. I just don't understand how a developer can have such a shitty matchmaking service in 3 straight games. You'd think they would eventually learn and realize that everyone quits their online games after a week because 99% of the games are completely unbalanced.
The icing on the cake was my last game, where an entire team of 40+ level players was matched against a team comprised of 2 level 0 players and 2 level 1 players. :fp:

LMAO I'll be level -40 if I ever start playing. You would think that they would give lower level players "more power" to thus balance out online play sort of like playing golf with handicaps
however, i'll be down to play on weekends. my wife is now working 90+ hours a week so i have allot of spare time on my hand.

2 of those online trophies have the potential to be extremely long and time consuming.
If you don't fail, each one of them is going to take 84 completed games, so you're looking at 168 games online played at the very least and that's if you complete the whole journey without failing. If you fail a 100% mission, you have to start over from the beginning. :D

Host migration has been improved. Losing connection to the host during a migration should occur less often
General crash when leaving multiplayer fixed
Intro camera fix for some introductory cut-scenes
Connectivity issues while playing have been tuned
If you disconnect or lose connection to the host, you will no longer advance a clan day. You will only advance a day if you are kicked from the match, or exit through the menu
Gameplay
Explosion Expert level 2 should be selectable now
The voting time for match selection has been reduced to 15 seconds
“No party” playlist options have been added to both Supply Raid and Survivors, players can only join this playlist solo

The Team Deathmatch mode has each team with 20 lives. Once those 20 lives are gone, you lose. The game is 15 minutes long. I just sat through a game where both teams had over 10 lives left when it ended. :D
Just finished the single player campaign and WOW just an absolutely fabulous game. It's not a perfect game (no game is) but clearly worthy of all the hype. I'll probably put it down for bit mess around with MP and then start on my next campaign I think it took me like 15-16 hours on my 1st playthrough but i got quite a bit of the hidden items. So I'll probably play through next on + mode and try to find all the items I missed with a little trophy guide help.

Nah, there's a ton of people playing it, so you wont have a problem finding a game for a very long time.
The only potential problem was on the 100% risk missions (if you don't meet the requirements for at least the first tier, you lose all your population and you have to start over from week 1 day 1) when the host would disconnect, if you didn't have the requirements met, you were screwed, because it would give you zero stats and advance a day.
I'm sure some of you are curious about the challenges. Every few days you'll get a challenge. Some of them will be 0% risk (if you fail, you don't lose anyone), 60% risk, and then the dreaded 100% risk. You then have to pick a challenge. For example, one of them is Downs. If you down 0 people on a 100% risk challenge, you'd lose everyone. If you down 3, you lose 60%. If you down 6, you lose 40%. If you down 9 or more, you only lose 20%. Each challenge gives you 3 days to complete, but every time you pick a challenge, the next time it arises, if you pick the same one, then the requirements increase. In the downs example, it would go 6, 9, 12 instead of 3, 6, 9.
So, again, for the no risk challenges, pick something you don't use. For the 100% challenges, pick the easy ones (downs, revives, marks, executions, etc...) and you'll have no problem.

No need. All it is is Team Deathmatch and Elimination. In TDM, each team has 20 lives and you keep respawning until your team has zero lives yet. Elimination is no respawns and the first team to win 4 rounds gets the win.
The whole meta game with the survivors and supplies is confusing until you play it, but it literally has no impact whatsoever on the actual online play.
The survivors aren't real life enemies, but rather just a number of survivors in your imaginary clan. In the game, you earn cans by downing enemies (this game is like Gears of War, no instant kills...once you hit them enough, they'll go down but not out and can be revived, so you have to finish them off), killing enemies, healing/reviving teammates, spotting enemies, etc... After the game is complete, cans are converted to supplies. The better you do, the more supplies you get. The more supplies you get, the more survivors join your imaginary clan. However, the more survivors you get, the more supplies you have to get. If you don't get your quota in a game, people will become hungry, eventually get sick, and ultimately die. You can really advance this process by quitting.
It sounds like a pain in the ass, but the only way to lose all your survivors is if you quit and only have 3 or 4 survivors left (just to give you an idea of this, I'm on week 3 right now and have 64...I had over 100 at points in my first go around) of if you fail to make the first tier of 100% risk challenges.
On the challenges, about once a week you'll get a challenge. Most of them are either 0% risk or 60% risk, meaning that no matter how horribly you do on them, you can't lose all of your clan. You'll be given 3 games to complete each challenge. Some of them are downing enemies, executing enemies, getting downs with certain weapons, healing teammates, spotting enemies, gifting crafted items to teammates, and a whole bunch of other stuff. As I said, I'd save stuff like spotting enemies, healing teammates, and regular downs/executions for the 100% risk missions, because they're the easiest and you want to save the easiest ones for the 100% risk missions. Every time you do a specific mission (say regular downs), it increases by 3. For the first time with downs, you'd have to get 3 for the first tier, 6 for the 2nd, and 9 for the 3rd. If you were to pick downs again for the next challenge, it would become 6, 9, and 12...and so on, so save the easy ones for the 100% risk missions.
The 100% risk challenges are in week 5, 7, 10, 11, and 12, so there's only 5 of them that you really need to worry about (and if you save the easy challenges, you don't have to worry because it'll be a walk in the park).
I know it sounds confusing, but it's really not once you play it. Basically, just kill the enemy team and help your teammates out if they get downed, just like any other shooter.

Collectibles glitch out and you have to replay through the entire game to get them. I've gone through sections where none of the textures on the buildings would load and I'd have to restart the section because I couldn't see where I was going. I've had numerous audio glitches where the sound just cuts out and wont come back until I quit to the XMB and load it back up. I had a glitch yesterday where the camera kept pulling me back and I couldn't go forward and I had to restart the section. I had a glitch on my 2nd play through where the thing didn't save and I lost an hour of play time. I had another one where the door I had to go through just wouldn't give me the prompt to open.
Like I said, fantastic game, but those glitches really get old when combined with that long loading screen every time you start the game. If you're going after the collectibles, make sure you check your stats after every one. If you catch it not counting, you can just restart the encounter and it should count. If you don't catch it, you're screwed (like I was).

I remember reading somewhere that was intended. The developers didnt want her giving away your position.
yeah they chose to do it that way b/c its not really fair to the player if the AI is stupid and cannot hide properly. i'd prefer her just be "smart" and not get caught or somehow let the bad guy ai know where she is so they will never technically "see" Ellie. Of course, if that was the case that could be abused as the player could just follow Ellie Around everywhere and know the bad guys will never come that way.
it's not a biggie IMHO but some people seem annoyed by it.
i wouldn't give the game a 10 (to me that means perfect and NOTHING is ever perfect) however, its clearly the best game i've ever played this gen and probably one of if not the most fun i've had all-time in video games (i'd have to think about that one but its really high up there)

Game would be hard as hell if the enemy AI did react to your AI teammates moving too loudly or in front of their eye sight.
Finished the Last of Us. Tremendous game and story. Killed 678 things and died 105 times in just under 23 hours on Normal. 54% gun accuracy. I never killed anyone using a human shield. Didn't quite realize how to do that. I guess I'm not supposed to kill guys I grab right away lol. Note for next time.
Overall the story and main characters are as good or better than any of the Uncharted games. Probably better. It really made you care about the game. Even though the story was very linear the RPG elements, realistic way you have to conserve ammo and take damage (no 3 second wait to full health) and the multiple options you had to take guys down made the game great. The game scenarios really made you think far more than the Uncharted games.

Give me a mode like Gears of War's horde. Hell, copy it straight up for all I care. It's utterly stupid how there's virtually no PS3 games that have a mode like that. This game is just screaming for it. 4 or 5 players working together against increasingly harder waves of enemies? Sounds good to me.
I don't care much about the single player content (I'm sure it'll be fun), but Naughty Dog doesn't exactly have a good history of online support. I'm hoping it's better this time around. The Season Pass for Uncharted 3 was the biggest waste ever. Most of the maps in that season pass were just remade ones from Uncharted 2. :fp:

I stopped playing because of Naughty Dog's usual ineptness when it comes to online games. I don't see why it takes them nearly 3 months to match players around the same level together, but unfortunately, it did. Too late at this point. The only thing that would bring me back is a Horde mode.

I haven't played TLOU online yet but I agree that ND has yet to put together anything that impressive MP wise. Then again, I don't play ND games for MP I play them for their stories which are just amazing. I cannot think of another publisher right now that is putting out better single player campaign/story experiences.

Anything Ken Levine touches is pure gold. His games also have amazing game play, so I'd actually give them the edge, but there's certainly not many developers that have that ability.
As for the online, Naughty Dog had it almost perfect with Uncharted 2 before they started messing around by lowering the health considerably and other things. The Last of Us is also good online, but it doesn't have the in depth features you would expect from an online shooters. Plus, the gun play is sorely lacking. However, all their online games have the same problem. They absolutely do not take into account player rank. In The Last of Us, it's nothing to have a stacked team of the highest levels against a team comprised of level 1 and 2 players. It's a joke that it takes them around 3 months every time they launch a game to fix their matching. You would think they would learn and have it ready to go at launch, but oh well.
They need to develop a horde mode. This game is just screaming for it.

Info on TLOU DLC:
The first story-based DLC add-on for The Last of Us will feature a new character, Naughty Dog's Eric Monacelli has declared in a post on the PlayStation Blog. Following a lengthy casting phase, this extra chapter, which is due sometime in December or January and part of the Season Pass program, will begin its motion-capture filming sessions next week.
"This is an ambitious story with strong ties into the narrative of The Last of Us," Monacelli writes on the PS Blog. There is no mention of whether protagonists Joel or Ellie will make an appearance.
Prior to the single-player content, the multiplayer-focused Abandoned Territories Map Pack will arrive on October 15. Four maps in total are included: Suburbs, Bus Depot, Hometown and Bookstore. The third piece of Season Pass content will also be multiplayer-centric and is due within the first half of 2014.
The Last of Us Season Pass is priced at $20 – which Naughty Dog says represents a 75 percent savings over picking up all of the DLC piecemeal – and available through PSN and GameStop.

As outraged as I am with the download situation (still not able to get the patch for UC3 and NCAA 14) this game and he new Hots Shots Golf have more than made up for it. I normally shy away from stealth heavy games but they really nailed that sense of survival and the need to be stealthy, not just stealth for the sake of having a stealth mode. Every time I step into a fight my brain is on overload trying to figure out the right tools for the task at hand. You can never have enough Molotovs and I am finally where I can use a scope. I do die a lot but some of that is still getting used to the PS3 controller and the rest is clickers and bloaters.

I'm not sure if it's worth the effort to port it over. They are probably focusing on a second game for the PS4 along with Uncharted. I'm hoping they release those games for the PS3 still but that's iffy.

Pure speculation but I'm betting its in the initial PS Now launch lineup so I doubt there is a port. Naughty Dog employees have been very negative on porting the game in general.

DLC is set for a 2/14 release.
http://www.joystiq.com/2014/01/15/the-last-of-us-left-behind-dlc-set-for-valentines-day-release/
Following its strong showing in Game of the Year awards industry-wide, all eyes have turned towards the future of The Last of Us. And that would be The Last of Us: Left Behind, the upcoming story-driven epilogue written by TLOU scribe Neil Druckmann and starring Ashley Johnson as Ellie and Yaani King as Riley, Ellie’s older and arguably wiser friend.
Set before Joel and Ellie meet in The Last of Us, Left Behind will focus strongly on Ellie and Riley, adding intriguing new wrinkles to Ellie’s future relationship with Joel, as well as immersive details about the game’s decaying world.

No more single-player DLC planned for The Last of Us
The Last of Us looks to be getting just the one addition to its campaign, after Naughty Dog said it has no plans for further single-player DLC. We knew Left Behind was the only single-player addition of the three in the season pass, the first being the Abandoned Territories pack released in October, and the third previously confirmed as multiplayer too.
"There's multiplayer DLC up next," Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli said on the PlayStation Blog, "We don't have any more single player DLC planned."

That's ridiculous if they haven't started working on a sequel. It will be years before a PS4 version then.

If Memory serves ND has 2 teams. "Team #1" is currently working on UC with a likely 2015 release (my guess). ND isn't like EA launching yearly titles so I wouldn't imagine a TLOU 2 until probably 2016 and that's if they are trying to keep the ball hidden on what "Team #2" is working on.

Well, it’s no secret that we have been working night and day at the studio to bring The Last of Us to PS4.
We’re calling it The Last of Us Remastered.
Moving our efforts to the PS4 has allowed us to remaster an already phenomenal looking The Last of Us in 1080p with a list of upgrades including higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures, along with even more improvements. We love setting challenging technical hurdles for us when working on each game – and this is no different. We’ve been working hard on The Last of Us Remastered to release a next-gen evolution worthy of the 200+ Game of the Year awards, not to mention the acclaim and expectations of our fans. We will be revealing more detailed information about the upgrades for the PS4 version in the coming months.
In addition to all the technical updates, we’re also including an exclusive director’s commentary for all in-game cinematics featuring Creative Director and Writer, Neil Druckmann; Voice Actor, Troy Baker, who plays Joel; and BAFTA Award winning Voice Actress, Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie.
We’ve released a ton of additional content since The Last of Us launched in June 2013, including our first ever single player expansion, Left Behind. We’re happy to say that the major content releases will be included with The Last of Us Remastered:
Left Behind single player expansion
Abandoned Territories multiplayer map pack
Reclaimed Territories pack – details will be coming soon on exactly what is included
Whether you are new to The Last of Us or have played it already on the PS3, we hope you are all looking forward to this release. We are!
You can preorder The Last of Us Remastered for PS4 right now from many of your favorite retailers and receive these preorder bonuses:
100 Supply Points (XP) for use in Factions mode

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3817/13741695334_e2f461ca7a.jpg Back in December of 2011, we were teased with a new game that from the onset promised to be special. We were shown viral videos of something abnormal growing on Earth. Then at the VGA's we saw a great first trailer to the game. Once that trailer ended, it was revealed that this was coming from Naughty Dog; which lead to a rousing ovation at the awards show (and around the world). Finally last June, we were able to get our hands on The Last Of Us, and our minds were blown.
From Metacritic (http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/the-last-of-us), a brief summary of the game states: Twenty years after a pandemic radically transformed known civilization, infected humans run amuck and survivors kill one another for sustenance and weapons - literally whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a salty survivor, is hired to smuggle a fourteen-year-old girl, Ellie, out of a rough military quarantine, but what begins as a simple job quickly turns into a brutal journey across the country.…
News has surfaced this week that this great game will now be heading to PS4 in the summer. I haven't ran into any issues with the light bothering me (although I keep my controller pretty low - near my lap) and the light prob just hits only my desk so there is no glow on my monitor. Didn't they give the ability to turn the "volume"/strength of the light down/off in the PS4 settings?

Apparently after the video above the live attendees got a never released scene that occurs AFTER the game ends:
THE LAST OF US: REMASTERED (http://www.ign.com/games/the-last-of-us)/ 28 JUL 2014
SECRET ENDING SCENE FROM THE LAST OF US REVEALED AT LIVE SHOW464
The poignant ending scene was performed live by Troy Baker & Ashley Johnson.
BY LUCY O'BRIEN (http://people.ign.com/Luce_IGN_AU)At the live performance (http://au.ign.com/articles/2014/07/29/watch-the-last-of-us-performed-live) of The Last of Us (http://www.ign.com/games/the-last-of-us/ps3-123980) in Los Angeles this evening, game director Neil Druckmann introduced a special, unrecorded scene that takes place after the ending of the game. The scene was performed live on stage by principal actors Troy Baker (http://www.ign.com/stars/troy-baker) and Ashley Johnson (http://www.ign.com/stars/ashley-johnson).
According to attendees at the event posting on NeoGAF (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=863762), Druckmann requested that nobody film during the scene, and stressed that it will never be released or revealed in any other form.
With that in mind, heavy spoilers ahead.
The Last of Us - One Night Live (http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/07/21/the-last-of-us-one-night-live)01:29
The scene was reportedly written by Druckmann as a "goodbye" to Joel and Ellie, and takes place at Tommy's dam one night after the closing events of the game. Some reports put it at four years later, but the general consensus is broadly "after".
Joel is talking to Ellie in her room at Tommy's, explaining that Tommy is trying to set him up to marry a girl named Esther. According to various accounts of the scene, Ellie is acting distant and reserved, until Joel pulls out a guitar and sings a song (which Joel's voice actor Troy Baker performed live.) Joel tells Ellie a joke, and the pair laugh together, the tension broken. Joel leaves the guitar with Ellie as a gift, and the scene ends with Ellie alone on her bed, strumming a chord.
Does Druckmann's claim that the scene was written to farewell the pair mean we won't see them in a possible sequel? That's anyone's guess, although it's interesting that it evokes the "fan art" for the game created by Last of Us artist Marek Okon (http://au.ign.com/articles/2014/05/05/the-last-of-us-concept-artist-teases-a-reveal-with-an-older-ellie) in May so strongly.

Yeah, I have it on the lowest setting right now, but it's still pretty bright, ha. I'll just have to change how I hold it. It reflects off my TV pretty badly even on dim.
Online is still fun as hell by the way.
I never even tried online on PS3 (mostly b/c I know I suck at shooters) but I'll give it a try. I assume you can pick to some extent who you play with/against? I.e. if sev TGTers got online could we all 4 be on the same team?
I decided to take the day off from work today and as soon as UPS arrives I'll be popping this bad boy in - so if any of you guys wanna chat/play let me know.
Just got her. About to pop her in and install.

Tried online for the 1st time from 12 - 5. It was allot of fun. I would really enjoy it if several of us formed a "clan" or whatever and chatted while playing.

They really need to fix this matchmaking in a hurry. They've already patched it 5 times and it's just as bad now as it was on launch day. I routinely sit in the lobby for 10 or 15 minutes at a time, only to be placed in games where I have a zero bar ping. Out of all the time I've played, I only think I've completed 15-20 matches. :D
I'm going to be playing some more TLOU online and would prefer to play with people I know on mic as it is actually enjoyable when you play as a team. If anyone wants to play add me and we can setup a chat party.

I haven't gotten the game yet, but maybe in the next week or two when we do, I'll be game for some online, provided it's not the trash fest that OU described above.

It depends on what you like. Nobody moves so if you don't like being the aggressor and rushing 4 guys at once, probably by yourself if you're playing with randoms, it's probably not for you. Right now it's unplayable for me because it never puts me into a game. I just finished sitting on the matchmaking screen for 20+ minutes before calling it quits.
Everyone starts out with really low ammo and the popular tactic when engaging someone is for them to run away, so you're likely to exhaust all of your ammo without actually downing or killing anyone - it happens to me all the time.
It's truly not a very smartly designed online mode, but honestly, what else is there to play right now for someone who likes SOCOM/Gears? Nothing, hence why I'm playing it(or rather, sitting in the lobby TRYING to play it).

Ugh. I'm starting to see what CLW is talking about in regards to trying to get a team of people from here together with mics and whatnot to team up together. Based on that description of online right now, I'd probably avoid it altogether unless we're able to team up a couple of us as CLW said.

Yeah, I mean you can play slow and whatever, which is probably how the game is designed and as long as you have a competent team that sticks near you it would be alright. I don't know, I just get so fucking bored crouch walking around the map. I come from extremely fast paced shooters like Gears, Titanfall, etc... and I just want to go. Meanwhile, the vast majority of people who play this game just sit back, crouch walk, and are constantly all grouped together just waiting for someone who walk out into the open.
I'm sure my k/d and other stats are shit because of playing fast, but I seriously just can't play the way it's meant to be played.
My complaint stems from the lack of ammo. I just don't understand why in a COMPETITIVE shooter I'm getting strained for ammo. I realize it's the apocalypse and ammo is hard to come by, but come on, this isn't the story mode, this is competitive online - give me the necessary tools to be able to deal with other players. At least half of my deaths have come from not having any ammo.
But yeah, we'll at least give it a try when you get it. It'll be better in a group. I play by myself because the only friend of mine that has a PS4 absolutely hates the online modes in TLOU.
#1 the game is definitely slow compared to a "traditional" FPS online game like COD.
#2 the game has allot of strategy and if you can get a group of 4 guys on the mics and you talk effectively you can really mow guys down quite easily.
#3 I've never run out of bullets but I do not run around and come out shooting guns blazing - mostly i sit back and gain a bunch of xp just healing my dumb teammates who just want to sprint everywhere (a big no no in this game online b/c it gives your location away)

It's way slower than anything you can play. I think part of that is because all of the noobs playing it right now don't realize that just standing up and walking does not put you you on radar - only when running/shooting are you on radar. I think people crouch walk and sit still more now because they just don't know that. The other part is that's just the tendency of the game. The vast majority of people who play online can't aim to win a gun battle, so they need to camp and try to surprise someone.
I use the semi-auto rifle and you start with 7 bullets. Those 7 bullets take out a MAX of 2 guys before needing more ammo. I do the same thing virtually every match. I down 2 guys who are beside their other 2 buddies and I don't have any more ammo to charge in and take them down. It's simply bad design, IMO.

Bipolar much?
Look it does take me on average a few mins (I haven't clocked it but my guess is 3-5 mins sometimes) to find a match but otherwise I really enjoy online especially survivor mode (1 life no re-spawn).
I use that same semi-auto rifle (+ a revolver) and I've NEVER ran out of bullets. You do realize you can "purchase" more bullets with the tools and points you acquire during a match?

It is fun, but I'm running around the entire time. If someone doesn't like the slow pace of the game and can't aim well enough to consistently take guys out who shoot them first, they straight up aren't going to like it.
You can only purchase bullets if you've accumulated enough cans, or whatever they're called. In the situation I outlined above where you waste 3 or 4 bullets on someone who just runs back to their team, you're now left with a situation where you have no cans to purchase ammo, nor are you left with a dead body to pick ammo up from (normally only 2 bullets anyway, not even enough to down a guy with full health unless you 2 head shot him).
Like I said, that particular aspect of it is just bad game design. I should start with absolutely no less than 14 bullets when using the Semi-auto rifle, IMO.

This matchmaking is really starting to put me off towards the game. I'll sit anywhere from 10-15 minutes waiting for the game to find me a full lobby. Then 90% of the time it'll put all the low level people on one team against a team stacked full of all the higher level games. Meanwhile, probably 50% of the time, the game has a bit of lag that makes you vulnerable to shots while you're in cover, poor hit detection, etc...
To top it off, probably half of those games that have lag are so bad that I'm getting the while plug of death every 5 seconds. It's a pity, because despite all the bullshit that already exists within the game (bow, planted bombs, smoke bombs, etc...), I really enjoy the game online.

Just finally got around to actually buying and playing this today. Just got through the part in the Capitol Building. Still have no clue what all is going on in the story, and only just starting to get a clue of what the hell I'm supposed to be doing, but I'm enjoying the game so far. I'll definitely say, I prefer the daylight in this game. :D

No doubt! I loved this game but I did not look forward to firing it back up when I knew it was dark and full of zombies.
Welp I have finished going through the online hunter/firefly 12 week deals and only have a couple trophies left of just completing interrogation or supply raid on a couple of maps before I have all of the online trophies. Then time to go back to the story.

After I finish my current season of NCAA, I'm going to try playing this again. The story was interesting but I wasn't a fan of the loose-feeling controls. Since I forgot how to play, I'm just going to start over. I'm not sure how far my stopping point was into the game but I don't think I was even in the middle yet.
I'm at the part where you follow some weirdo into a school because I think we're looking for a battery or something. I forgot the exact details because it's been months.

Nice. I havent looked at what all the trophies are, so not sure if I'll try for the platinum.

I got a little bit past that part last night. It's not deep into the story, but it's a pretty good chunk into the game. Took me a good number of hours to reach that part of the story.

The worst part for me was when
Joel falls into a dark wet basement full of zombies and has to start a generator to activate things. Of course that noise attracts those pieces of crap and scare the he'll out of me.

It's a beast of a platinum to go for. 2 (minimum play story modes) + 40+ hours online. However, I just enjoy the game (the online is even fun for me most of the time) so I figure I'll slowly make my way to it over the next year + before UC4 comes out.
There just isn't another 3rd person shooter of this quality out there.

Platinum requires a ton of online play and if they haven't fixed the matchmaking, it'll take even longer. It's also pointless to play without a party because it doesn't take skill/rank into account when matchmaking, so you're likely to get matched up against people who've invested hundreds of hours into it already.

Opinion. Uncharted 2 and the Gears of War series, for example, are just as good if not better.

Damn, that is gonna take a while. Not sure I'll intentionally set out to get the platinum, but if I gradually work my way to it, that works for me!
And if we're both on TLOU at the same time, just hit me up if you want to do some online together. I haven't done anything other than the single player story, but I'd be more than happy to jump online with some of you guys.

I'm ALWAYS up for some TLOU online with people I know. I really enjoy the 1 life per round aspect of it and its really fun if you get a group of guys on the mic talking/helping each other out.
Even though I'm done with the trophy requirements for Survivors mode if you want/need help I'd be more than happy to join you in a party to help you farm out some stuff and help out.
