Any of you guys into genealogy/family tree? My wife signed up on ancestory.com and I started fooling around with it and now I'm hooked. Working my father's side up now and I'm back to the early 1500s where my family apparently led a rebellion against the Queen of England which was ultimately unsuccessful and led to his beheading and quartering. :fp:

I've wanted to learn more about my family history, but not sure I want to get the trial/pay for ancestry.com. However, some relatives on my grandfather's side of the family did put together a family tree in the 90s that dates back to when our first relatives came over from Germany so I'm not completely in the dark. From what I know, there's nothing out of the ordinary in our bloodlines.

The family tree they put together was made on a very old PC & handwritten notes, so I have been toying with buying some genealogical software to update the document. Roots 6 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0079L2OQG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0079L2OQG&linkCode=as2&tag=thegamtai-20) or Family Tree Maker, Platinum (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EP7AP7C/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00EP7AP7C&linkCode=as2&tag=thegamtai-20) are what I am debating between. FTMP comes with a one-year membership to Ancestry, which is nice but explains the higher price.
