Rocksteady Games has officially announced Batman: Arkham Knight (https://www.batmanarkhamknight.com/), the conclusion to their popular Batman: Arkham series with the game setting occurring one year after the events of 2009's Batman: Arkham City.
Expected to release in October on PlayStation 4, X-Box One, and PC, the game will feature a drive-able Batmobile in a world five times as large as that found in Arkham City, split into three major areas. Villains announced for the game include Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, Two Face, Penguin, and the "Arkham Knight" - a new Gotham villain created specifically for the game by Rocksteady & DC.
A July 2012 report from Variety (http://variety.com/2012/film/news/warner-bros-super-vision-for-justice-league-1118056432/) suggested that the next game from Rocksteady would be a "new, highly stylized title" centered around Batman's first encounter with the Joker and based upon 1950s comics where Batman "teamed with other heroes like Superman and founded the Justice League of America." While the ending of Arkham City & Arkham Knight info virtually invalidates that rumor, some speculation has emerged that the next Batman franchise from Rocksteady may center around the Justice League and be released closer to the 2016 Batman vs. Superman movie as DC works to prep their counter to Marvel's Avengers movie franchise and incorporate the JLA into the consciousness of the American public.

Rocksteady spilled the beans in Game Informer's April 2014 issue, talking about how Gotham City's open world will be five times the size of the one in Arkham City. Streets will also be wider to accommodate for the driveable Batmobile. The Batmobile! It's described as an "unstoppable force" by game director and studio co-founder Sefton Hill, one that players can summon with the press of a button--only to have it arrive at high-speeds, smashing through any nearby vehicles, traffic posts, or even the corners of buildings.
Batman can also eject himself out of the car at a moment's notice, flinging our hero out of his vehicle and up into the sky, where he can maintain his momentum by gliding and grappling. The Dark Knight has also been spruced up a bit in combat, including new moves and takedowns, although Rocksteady says the simplicity of the brawling is one of the game's signatures. Rocksteady should know: Batman's counter-focused gameplay has been borrowed by plenty of other titles since its release.
Batman: Arkham Knight will also feature a new villain built specifically for the game, and described as a "formidable" foe. A silhouette of the new antagonist shows that his outline makes him look quite similar to Batman--what are the chances that it could be Hush, who popped up briefly (and teasingly) at the end of one of the sidequests in Arkham City? Scarecrow also features, having cooked up a new batch of fear toxin and planting it in bombs around the city.
Fans will also be delighted to know that Kevin Conroy will reprise the role of Batman, having been replaced in Arkham Origins by Roger Craig Smith. Conroy is, if you ask me, the definitive voice of Batman--his smooth-but-grizzled chatter trounces all over Bale's comedy snarl.
Hill also confirmed that the game won't feature a multiplayer mode, unlike last year's Batman: Arkham Origins.
"We don't have the time to do multiplayer," he said. "We want to focus on making the best single-player experience we can. We don't feel that it needs a multiplayer element."

Rocksteady is ready to end its time with the Batman: Arkham series.
Rocksteady made the decision itself, so it's not like Warner Bros. or DC Comics have had their fill of the UK developer's work. Rocksteady's Dax Ginn said of bringing Arkham to a close, "the decision was a vision from us that our colleagues at Warner and DC Comics bought into, and it was decided, 'yeah, let’s do that.'
"We’ve done all we can do here," Ginn says. "It’s…it’s kind of time for us to walk away from it."
Ginn explains, "Anything we do is a collective decision between Rocksteady, Warner Brothers, and DC Comics. But it was something that we were really pushing for because we had a really clear vision for how this story should end, and the way we wanted it to end."
None of this is to say, of course, that Rocksteady's future doesn't involve Batman at all. Warner Bros. and DC Comics could tap Rocksteady for a bigger-picture look at the DC Universe, whether that's in a Superman title, a Justice League game, or a new brand of Bruce Wayne. But Arkham is over for the team, presumably to be continued with WB Games Montreal, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins.

I'm TIRED of the remasters (especially non-exclusive games) - if the game was multi platform there is ZERO reason for this.

$40 Batman: Arkham Knight DLC Pass Revealed, Offers Six Months of Content
Plus, a digital-only premium edition for the Batman game is also announced.
Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Studios on Tuesday announced a DLC Season Pass for their upcoming Caped Crusader game, Batman: Arkham Knight.
According to a message posted on Twitter, Arkham Knight's Season Pass will offer up new content for six months after the game's release in June, meaning through the end of the year.
This content will take the form of "story missions, supervillains, and more," the developer said.
A subsequent press release from Warner Bros. reveals that new Batmobile skins, "advanced" challenge maps, alternate character skins, and new drivable race tracks are also included with the Arkham Knight Season Pass.
A special Arkham Knight Premium Edition will also be available. This comes with the game and the DLC pass, and will be sold only through digital channels.
The Season Pass will cost $40, while the Premium Edition will run you $100.

The $40 tag seems steep, so I understand some criticisms in that regard. However, I saw quite a few upset that Rocksteady did not detail any of the DLC. I'm assuming maybe they can't share all of that due to protecting certain aspects of the storyline (identity/origin of Arkham Knight, game ending).

This new trailer was pretty good and made mention of two items I kept wondering if would occur:
- Any reference to (read: proof of) Joker's death
- The 'death' (real or otherwise) of Batman
I still think the Arkham Knight is an existing DC Comics character and I would guess smart money is on Joker, somehow/someway.
I just hope any twists, turns, or ending are not ruined by social media next week, but they probably will be. :(

Batman: Arkham Knight season pass holders are going to be given a treat in August, with the release of new skins for the game, including the "1989" skin pack that makes both Batman and the Batmobile look like they came straight from the Michael Keaton film.
The aesthetic, from a film that is now over 25 years old, still looks pretty good.
"Battle through the streets of Gotham City with this pack that includes the Batman skin and Batmobile from the 1989 Batman film, as well as two tracks inspired by the film’s sequel," the press release states.
The skins for the secondary characters are just as fun and nostalgic.
"Included in this pack are six character skins based on the alternate timelines — 1990s Catwoman, One Year Later Robin, Arkham Origins Batman, Iconic Grey and Black Batman, 1970s Batman and the Original Arkham Nightwing.

A new game update is available today.
Reportedly weighing in at 1.6GB and bringing the total of all patches to 4.3GB, Batman: Arkham Knight update 1.05 is now available to download on PlayStation 4.
