So who is the HC at ND now? Did I miss that somewhere?

Edit: NM. Just saw the ULM OC.

Yup Kawika Pettway is the new top dog at ND. He did an amazing job with ULM, including a top 5 rank in 2018. I'm liking your new OC in Dana Holgorsen. Look forward to see what they can do in 2020.

Coach Jaymo is wondering if he should have taken one of the :North_Carolina::West_Virginia::Purdue: jobs as HC. Just as :UNLV: is on the verge of greatness, the A.D. goes and messes things up. UNLV runs a pro style offense with a 4-3 attacking D. The personnel have been recruited for this scheme.

So what does the A.D do? You guessed it.... messes with the system and brings in an OC who runs the SPREAD and a DC who runs a 3-4. Let's look at the facts.
1. We don't have the recievers for a spread attack (especially losing Samuel)
2. The run game is the strong part of the offense right now
3. We did heavy recruiting for TE's this offseason
4. The DL is the strongest part of the D
5. We have minimal depth at MLB
6. The CB"s are all raw freshmen... will there be enough DL pressure to help them?

Is this change for the sake of change???

I assume you run the offense and defense of the coordinators?

I assume you run the offense and defense of the coordinators?

Yeah I started doing this a few seasons back. I find it makes the game a lot more interesting and forces you to change things up.

Oops totally forgot to mention that we have a NEW AUTOMATIC BID QUALIFIER. In 2016 the :Mountain_West: was granted an automatic qualifier for any available bowl. That decision was made due primarily to the level of competition put forth from :Boise_State::Fresno_State::San_Diego_State::Air_F orce:

For the 2019 season the last automatic bid spot has been provisionally granted to: :CUSA: This has only been granted for 2019... consultations will follow.

This decision was not made lightly and is up for review at the end of the 2019 Bowl season. There has also been discussion in making the last BCS bid based on a 3 year rotation. That would then provide the :MAC: and :Sun_Belt: an opportunity to compete for a BCS game. A higher profile for the lesser :NCAA: conferences may benefit the entire league in the long run.

The final decision will be made at the end of the season.

Due to the play of MAC teams this season, they will get the rotating BCS bid for 2020.

I haven't played this game since April 2015. I plan on getting a game or two in this coming week. I need to finish my UNLV contract and then make the jump to a new programme.

Stay tuned. Man am I going to be rusty.

I have neglected this series for too long. I really hoped this would be backwards compatible but I guess that's not going to happen.

:UNLV:

With the new OC and his Spread offense, UNLV may have some growing pains. Mal Jalaal is a stud senior while underused junio Corey Maxwell moves up from 4 to 2 on the depth chart. The 3-6 receiver spot are all raw freshmen. Terrence Harris takes the #3 spot and he may be a special weapon but his speed and average ability to catch the ball is scary. Tyler Weddle (RS) is a very intriguing option ad will take the fourth spot in the rotation. Anthony Williams (RS) sits in the 5 spot. He's a relative unknown. #6 receiver Tristan Perry won't see the field too much this season. His speed is decent but he lacks awareness and that's a killer.

At tight end, Mario Green will get most of the work. However, true freshman Hingle McCringleberry could be the pickup of the offseason. 6'9 and 270 with a 78 speed could be a real weapon for the offense.

On the D, as UNLV switches to a 3-4 backup ROLB John Wilkerson moves to the middle to help out MLB Marcus Jones. The real scary part of UNLV is the secondary. Matt Baker and Torque Leweth, both raw freshmen take over at the corners.

For special teams, UNLV adds a new punter to the fold, freshmen Matt Smith.

Week 1:

:UNLV: starts the season with a bye week. It's a good thng too as the playbook is not being easily picked up by the players.

One person who is very excited about OC Freeze's spread offense is SR QB Thomas Morris. Morris is hoping to move up the food chain and be a possible draft pick this season.

Sam Boyd Stadium has moved up to 16th toughest place to play. The crowd is only 36,000 per game but the Rebel have a 27 game home win streak and that is the best record in the NCAA.

Week 2: #9 :UNLV: (0-0) (0-0) @ :Iowa_State: (0-0) (0-0)

The Rebel kick off the season as coach Jaymo heads to ISU for the first time ever! The Rebels are a far superior team on paper but as we know, games are not played on paper.

As the coin tosses and UNV wins, all I can think to myself is how badly I miss this series!!!!

ISU starts the game with a 46 yard return follwed by a 31 yard completion. Five plays later ISU punches it in for a TD and it's 7-0 ISU. What happened? This 3-4 D looks awful against the pass!

UNLV starts with a 26 yard return by freshmen RB Justin Long. THe drive goes 14 plays and ends with a 4th and 1 TD strike to TE Mario Green. 7-7. UNLV then holds ISU to a 3 and out. ROLB Anthony Hancock alreasdy has 2 tackles and a deflection.

UNLV starts at their own 31.A few plays later UNLV is down to the ISU 1. With that begins the 2nd quarter. On the next play, RB Coker powers in for the TD. That makes it 14-7 UNLV. ISU goes from their own 20 into the UNLV endzone after 9 plays. The UNLV D is soft to say the least. The game is tied 14-14 with 5:48 left in the 2nd.

On the first UNLV play, Morris gets picked off and ISU starts from their own 29. However, on the next play LB Duke Johnson forces a fumble. Coker makes them pay with a 29 yard rush to the endzone. That makes it 21-14 UNLV with 5:23 remaining. ISU gets the ball and goes all the way down the field to tie it up 21-21. The UNLV D is just brutal!

On the next series on the first play, Morris goes down and last years rookie phenom Abe Lexman comes in. On the first play he hits Jalaal for a 48 yard strike. He then scampers for 14 yards and then hits Coker fora TD strike to move UNLV ahead 28-21. Does anyone sense a QB controversy already?

With 12 seconds left, ISU is stopped at midfield. UNLV runs the ball from the 20 and that's the half. Amazing offense and horrendous D. ISU dominated the clock with 16 minutes of offense.

UNLV begins the half from the 20. They come out with a run heavy philosophy and it pays off as Coker goes down the field and punches it in from the 1 on 4th down to make it 35-21UNLV with 1:56 left in the 3rd.

ISU starts off from the 20 and get into UNLV territory but the Rebel D comes up with 2 sacks and force ISU out of FG range. UNLV starts at their own 26. The Coker show continues as he goes over 100 rushing yards and brings the quarter to an end. With 5:02 remaining, Winston hits a 41 yard fg and that increases the lead to 38-21.

ISU moves down the field but turns the ball over on downs. With 2:53 left UNLV brings in mass subs to gets the rookies some reps. Lexman leads the team down to the 1 and then slides so he can run out the clock. UNV takes the game 38-21.

Player of the game honours go to Frank Coker with 18 carries for 109 yards and 2 TD's as well as 4 receptions.

Lexman 3/3 75 yards 1 TD (+ 4 carries for 29 yards)
Morris 16/21 193 yards 1td 1 int

Honourable mention goes to rookie WR Terrence Harris with 6 receptions for 98 yards.

Week 3: :Nebraska: (1-0) (0-0) @ #8 :UNLV: (1-0) (0-0)

UNLV looks to defend their 27 game home win streak. In order for UNLV to win, their D eeds to be a lot better than it was last week. This is a huge game and the toughest test yet to the 27 game home win streak. Can UNLV defend its home turf from the Huskers? Let's find out!

Nebraska wins the toss and choses to kick off. UNLV starts from their 26. Coker starts the game with a 9 yard run. Morris throws a pic four plays later and Nebraska responds with a 57 yard FG miss. The game remains 0-0.

The next drive starts on the 20 and 5 plays later Morris hits TE Green from 8 yards out for the big TD. 7-0 UNLV with 1:28 left in the first quarter. Nebraska starts from the 20. However, they go 3 and out. The Rebels start at their own 40. With no time left on the clock, Morris hits Jalaal for a 54 yard TD strike and the quarter ends 14-0 UNLV. What a start!

Nebraska goes 3 and out in consecutive series. The yardage count stands at 127 to 9 in favour of UNLV. Wow! UNLV starts at the Husker 48. On 4th and 1 at the Nebraska 22, UNLV is stopped. Will that be a costly mistake? UNLV responds with another 3 and out.

UNLV starts the next drive from their own 33. 9 plays later, RB Robinson punches it in for a TD and that makes it 21-0 UNLV with 2:41 remaining. Nebraska responds by missing a 54 yard FG. UNLV gets the ball back and goes into a 2 minute offense. 6 plays later FB Taylor takes it in from the 2 and the blowout is on. That makes it 28-0 UNLV.

The UNLV O and D have been phenomenal! The crowd has played a huge role as clearly Nebraska is rattled. UNNLV has 276 yards to 60 for Nebraska. This is complete domination.

To start the 3rd, Nebraska comes out in the hurry up and is fairly successful. However, on 4th and 1 they run a fake punt and don't convert. UNLV takes over at their own 43. 8 plays later, Morrris runs the QB sneak for a TD and that makes it 35-0 UNLV.

On the drive, WR Maxwell was injured and will miss two weeks. That's a big loss for a TD firing on all cylinders re: the pass game. ON Nebraska's next drive they lose their QB. With that the drive ends and UNLV starts at their 4. As UNLV begins to move the ball, the quarter comes to an end.

UNLV is forced to punt early in the 4th and Nebraska starts at their own 45. 8 plays later freshman CB Baker comes up with an int. at the UNLV 32. However, UNLV goes 3 and out and Nebraska starts at their own 25, with 4:24 remaining.

Nebraska finally breaks through with a big drive for a TD. The score is now 35-7. Nebraska goes for an onside kick and Jalaal recovers. With that, UNLV runs out the clock and the Rebels walk away with a big win. The home win streak increases to 28 games.

Morris 16/19 256 yards 2 TD 1 Int
Coker 13 carries 29 yards
Jalaal 4 rec 125 yards 1 TD

The only downside of the game was the 5 sacks given up. The O sputtered in the 2nd half but they were lights out in the first.

Week 4: #7 :UNLV: (2-0) (0-0) @ :Colorado_State: (1-2) (0-0)

UNLV travels to Colorado to begin conference play. It's a beautiful day for football!

UNLV wins the toss and elects to kickoff. CSU begins at their 20 and go nowhere with a 3 and out. The Rebels start at their own 38. The get into CSU territory and then give up 2 sacks. What's worse, Mal Jalaal was injured on the drive. CSU begins at their own 9. They storm down the field and hit on a 34 yard TD strike to take a 7-0 lead.

UNLV starts at the 20.Two plays later, rookie WR stud Harris goes 68 yards for a TD and it's 7-7 just like that. CSU takes the ball on their 20 and in one play they go 80 yards for a TD. That makes it 14-7 CSU with no time left in the 1st quarter. UNLV's D us just awful today.

UNLV starts at the 26 and goes 3 and out. CSU starts at their own 28. They also go 3 and out and UNLV gets the ball back at their own 43. However, QB Morris (aka Mr. Interception) gets picked and CSU starts at their own 40. Then it's CSU's chance to go 3 and out. UNLV starts from the 20. They get down to the CSU six and then another Morris int and CSU takes over with 1:16 left in the half. CSU is forced to punt with 11 seconds left. UNLV takes over at the 30. UNLV goes for a hail mary and Morris hits Harris for the 70 yard TD. Wow! That makes it 14-14 to end the half.

Both teams had over 200 yards passing in the first half. This has been a weird game thus far.

UNLV begins the 3rd at the 27 and goes 3 and out. CSU begins at their own 30 but they fumble and hand the ball back to UNLV. However, UNLV cannot move the ball and settle for 3 to go up 17-14 with 5:01 left in the 3rd.

CSU starts at the 20 and gets into UNLV territory until CB Harris comes up with an int at the UNLV 31. The Rebels make CSU pay as they march the field and FB Taylor punches it in from the 1. THat makes it 24-14 UNLV with 33 seconds left in the 3rd.

The 3rd comes to an end with CSU going 3 and out. Long has a huge 42 yard punt return and UNLV starts at the CSU 35. Winston missed a fg from 45 yards out and the score remains the same. CSU gets the ball back and marches down the field for the TD to make it 24-21 CSU. On the next drive Morris gives up a safety and now it's 24-23 UNLV.

CSU starts next from their own 40. THey march down the field and score a td to make the score 29-24 with 1:14 left. UNLV has 4 straight incompletions as the cpu decided to win today and UNLV loses a game they had no right to lose.

What a disgusting outcome. UNLV had no right to lose this game to a very subpar team. However, the D was awful in the 2nd and the O stopped converting. There is really nothing left to say. With that loss there goes a shot at the National Championship...

The only highlight from the game was the play of rookie WR Terrence Harris as he had 4 rec for 158 yards and 2 TD's.
