I'm tempted for the remote PS4 play alone. IF I can simply take that little box and it allows me to play on the big screen when the wife is at work/sleeping it's worth every penny to me.

Yeah I might wait for the actual update for PS4 but for $100 (and assuming no major lag issues) its will save allot of arguments with the wife which is always worth the investment.

I don't see how they can't release it here. They had to have felt the buzz that it created in the U.S. after its announcement.

Not 100% that. If so, just get it from Play Asia. You'll have to pay a little more though.

I'd be STUNNED if it didn't come West. I don't see any logical reason why it wouldn't make smart business sense. Allot of hard core gamers would buy them just for the PS4 on multiple t.v.s factor. + being able to play vita on the big screen (and other streaming services) its like a gaming version of Roku (or whatever that silly streaming box is called)

Interesting. I suspect this is sort of a "payback" to their loyal home base for not getting PS4 as the same time as the silly Americans who like their COD and Madden.

Sony has to be screwing with people here. All along have plans for it is US, but act like you are changing course to satisfy customer demand. 'What a great company!'

Sony is on a PR roll with this "we listen to our customers" / "we are all about gamers" and they KNOW it. This work up to the launch from the initial announcement to date has been practically flawless especially when compared to their #1 competitor.

I'm sure they planned on Vita TV coming to the states at some point. Now are they bumping up the launch of that? Possibly. Are they "surprised" of the demand for Vita TV? Again possibly. No way to know for sure but if your Sony with the good will you have built up for PS4 no reason to not capitalize on a complimentary product that many people would probably like to have (assuming no lag issues with remote ps4 play).

Honestly I don't really see how it's worth the bang for the buck? Outside of playing on another tv in your house, how does it fit the $99 price tag?

I think it can play any Vita game through the card slot. You can also purchase games directly from the system for PS1, PS2, and PS3. You're basically buying a gaming system without spending a few hundred.

Yep its worth it to me for that alone. I have a TON of "free" PS+ Vita games I'd like to play but cant b/c I haven't bought a Vita.

I'm guessing you'd have to buy a Vita card for the memory on the device? If so that kinda sucks with as overpriced as those are.

Also,

A DUALSHOCK 3 or 4 controller (sold separately) is required.

I was afraid that only the DS3 was compatible since that is what they're selling with the bundle, so I'm glad that the DS4 works too.

Yeah that's my guess as well. I just don't travel enough anymore (or need it to remote play PS4 since its not in the living room on the main tv) to justify a Vita purchase. However, for $99 (+ whatever the cost is for a vita memory card(s)) I'd be tempted just to give me access to all the free + games they keep giving me.

Unfortunately, Sony's PlayStation TV is cursed with a storage problem. There's only 1GB of internal storage, just like the Vita Slim, and to add more -- which will most certainly will need to -- requires Vita memory cards. Yes, it means you can swap in Vita memory cards and play them seamlessly on the PlayStation TV, but it also means you can't use regular SD or microSD, or even Memory Sticks, to add on storage for game or movie downloads. Vita memory cards are proprietary and still really expensive.

I played Diablo III via Wi-Fi Remote Play on the PlayStation TV using a DualShock 4 controller, and the experience was pretty good. The frame rate wasn't silky-smooth, but it was very playable, and somewhat like Remote Play already feels on the Vita when connected to PS4 -- but with the benefit of a full analog-trigger controller.

For those who can't afford full-price consoles, these microconsoles could be interesting. But it really isn't clear how fun, or flexible, the PlayStation TV will feel when it's finally ready to play here in the US.

Jesus Christ, talk about having you by the balls. It may be $99 to start, but will quickly turn into $200-$300 with the need for memory. May as well spend the extra $100 and get a PS4 at that rate.

For me, I already have a Vita with a 16GB and 32GB card; which I can use on it, so I'm only spending $100; though I would like to get the 64GB card from Play Asia.

Yeah I put it on the Christmas list - gotta have something to open under the tree I suppose. I really just want it so that I can play my free Vita + games and PS4 games on the big screen when the wife is away w/o having to move the PS4 into the living room.

One day (soon) I shall overcome and have my own theater room and watch/play all my stuff on a 100"+ screen of beauty with surround sound etc... until then though PSTV isn't a bad option.

Gotta get it through a third party seller as the 64 GB is only available in Japan. Sometimes it's a Prime seller that it comes from though.

So, for a non-Vita, non-PS4 owner, is this at all worth it? My main interest would be in replacing the PS3 as a media center, as I like using the PS3 as little as possible for Netflix/Amazon uses.

Obviously a Roku has the same benefit, so I guess I'm trying to weigh this against buying a Roku.

Until we see a list of apps and programs on the PSTV, I'd wait and see. Roku has the best variety, Amazon Fire TV has the best performance.

So I got one of these bad boys for Christmas but seem to be having trouble transferring my Vita downloads from my PS3 to my PS TV.

I cannot seem to get the PS TV registered on my PS3. If I select register a device first on my PS3 the PS TV cannot seem to connect with the PS3. If I go to the PS TV first and then get an activation code from my PS3 it says the code is wrong.

Any suggestions?

Sony has confirmed that its PlayStation TV microconsole is effectively no more. A representative for the company confirmed to GameSpot on Monday that shipments for the device stopped at the end of 2015 in the Americas and Europe.
