I would probably use that to run Google Music through my surround sound. Gonna definitely get this.
Also when I'm gaming, I could plug that into my 24" HDTV and use it while I'm gaming too....

It says "out today" but yet it says coming soon on Google and Amazon.

I would definitely have many uses for it with my laptop. It'd be nice to run videos or music or whatnot from my laptop through my TV without having to deal with an HDMI cord. For $35? Hell yeah. I'll definitely be picking up in the near future.

If you buy it from Amazon then the site can get a kick-back... plus free shipping if you're a Prime member.

Looks like it's also in stock at Amazon... I placed my order and asked for 1 day shipping ($3.99 with Prime) so I should see it tomorrow.

Not shown in the video but it requires power... if your TV has a USB port then it can take power from that but otherwise you have to plug it into the wall.

I'm good there. I've got a HDMI and a USB port right next to each other on the left side of my TV.

Don't get it. So basically you can watch youtube on your t.v.? Yeah I can already do that and NEVER do.

You can watch anything and everything. Netflix, Youtube, Google Play, pull up webpages from Chrome onto your TV, with more apps being added in the future.
With Chromecast, you can easily enjoy your favorite online content on your HDTV—movies, TV shows, videos, music, photos, websites, and more from Netflix, YouTube, Google Play, and Chrome.
And you can use it across all your stuff, phone, tablet, laptop, etc.
For me, it's a no-brainer. My TV isn't internet connected. It's a damn good TV, but just a TV. It was at least $200 more for "internet-ready/connected" TVs in the same brand/model/size, and at the time, I just was looking for a good TV in the 40 inch range, I didn't need all the frills, bells and whistles of "internet-ready/connected" TVs. Right now, the only way to watch stuff like Netflix, Youtube, digital movies/videos saved on my laptop, etc., is by either going through my 360, or hooking my laptop up to my TV via HDMI and having my laptop treat the TV as a second monitor.
So being able to pull anything, video, music, pictures, webpages, etc., from my laptop up onto my TV with the same click of one button, for only $35? I'm all over that.

Yeah, my new TV does this and it is kind of annoying, lol. I will be watching TV or playing a game and all of a sudden someone will hit the button to put youtube on my TV and I am like what the hell.:D

Twitch  I've used my Apple TV when Tommy used to stream his OD games on Twitch and it was awesome watching them on the big screen.

Smooth - one thing to note is that it doesn't appear to "mirror" your phone or laptop. Your device is basically just telling it what to pull and then it pulls it through Wifi. I was confused by this at first, so not sure if they'll implement something to watch your videos or there will be a hack to do it.

Since Google is releasing a Chromecast SDK right away, I'm sure we'll get something for that eventually.

I already downloaded the app and updated all of the other apps on my phone.
In regards to inclusion of other things that the device can do, I read a CNET article that stated this low price point with limited apps to start is actually going to help in development of more options. Pretty excited to get this puppy tomorrow.

Paid for overnight. Since I have Prime, it was only $3.99 for overnight so I thought why not.

Especially with being able to play anything from your hard drive through Chrome.
My 47" TV isn't a smart TV either.

If you're streaming from your computer, your specs matter. I tried streaming twitch.tv from my laptop and when I went full screen, it really lagged bad. However, when I switched over to my main, beefy PC and went full screen, it did perfectly well.
Also, to setup the Chromecast for the first time, you need a PC/laptop with wifi or a smartphone/tablet. My main PC doesn't have wifi so when I tried to set it up, I struggled at first. That said, once it's setup and connected to your router, you can use a wired connection to stream.

Now I need to get the audio out of my TV to my surround system.

Completely forgot that I get 3 months of Netflix with the purchase of the Chromecast, so that saves me $24 for a net cost of $11 for this thing. Well worth it.
