Pick Lock Coaching XP Skill - How to Use???

So I just leveled up to a Level 6 head coach and I purchased my first lock pick! Now the question is, how the heck do I use it? I have two guys locked on my board and I've went to the recruiting section and attempted to unlock both of them with no luck. Do I have to wait a week to use the feature? I assume it's not going to randomly select one of the players and choose to unlock them for me.

Any help would be much appreciated!

You still have to be within a certain amount... like within 1000 points or something like that. I believe it says when you try to use it or on the skills page.
